Hey guys, Ninja here! I apologize again for the lack of a chapter in a while, I just got stuck on a big Writer's Block, and I asked Jen to do the chapter for me! I think she did a really good job on this chapter, and if you guys think so, remember to review a #JenIsAmazing to let her know how much she is a big help to this story!
Anyways, more information is let out in this chapter, and there is another Boss fight in this scene! Hope you guys enjoy this chapter as much as Jen and I had fun in writing this chapter for you guys.
Also, I asked Jen to do a special art project for me, where she is going to portray important parts of this story in pictures. It's going to take her a while to get them done, but by the end of the book (which is going to be in about 9 chapters), we will reveal them to you guys on deviantART so that you guys can see them! So keep excited for that coming out soon! Anyways, enjoy this amazing new chapter!
Seto's POV-
"Guys... I think... I think we are in the Ice Spikes biome," Ant said in astonishment. We all looked around in our new surroundings. Amongst the large pillars of ice, there were dead trees with large bundles of snow buried within the many branches that once held leaves. Large rocks also decorated the new area we are in, the tips also covered in snow. Attach to the ends of the branches are large or small sharp icicles. Each of us began to spread from the others and glance upon the icicles as they shimmer brightly in the environment.
Across the snow-covered ground, several icicles are sticking up from the ground. I make my way over to the large frozen piece of ice and gaze at the cold surface of it. I could faintly make out the drawings of Minecrafters, but they all seem to have horror and fear drawn into their faces. At the very part of the icicle near the tip, I saw a large creature-like monster with its arms raised out in opposite sides. I shifted my gaze to the tip, but I immediately go stiff when I see a very small section of the tip covered in a red substance. There was nothing out here that could have done this. Was it blood? If so, how did it get on to here?
"What's wrong, Seto?" a gentle voice was heard behind me. I turn my head and see Jen standing by herself, clutching around her body in trying to keep herself warm. I take one last look at the icicle, then I turn away from the sharp ice and look over at Jen while trying to cover up my nervousness to not make her worry.
"It's nothing, Jen. It's... it's just that this place seems a bit empty and eerie despite its peaceful-like scenery. We've already made it this far and there's only three more weapons left, but they're in the last places we would want to travel to. I can only imagine what type of monster we might be facing against here, and I don't want to lose any more of my friends."
Jen lets out a small sigh before she says, "I know... it was hard to see Ryan and Mallory go like that when we were escaping from the cells. We can only hope that everyone will escape from this place unscathed once we get the weapons. But if anything happens while we go and get the weapons... I want you to know that I love you, Seto... and that I care about you."
I smile at the girl before replying to her, "I love you too, Jen." We both approach each other and embrace in a loving hug.
She was cold to the touch, but the hug we shared started making her and me feel warm. Gently, I move my head near her cheek and plant a soft kiss on her cheek, noticing right away her face blush up. I wished that we could be like this forever, but it had to end when I heard Jerome's voice cry out, "Hey guys!"
Jen and I reluctantly move from each other and gaze over our shoulders, seeing the Bacca standing on top of a snowy hill. "If you two are done making out with each other, come on! We found an icy cavern that might hold the weapons we need!" Jerome disappears over the hill. I move my gaze over to Jen, but she nods. I get the message that we have to continue moving. We couldn't afford to waste time, especially since it has been over a month since we last saw our home taken away from us. We trudge through the heavy snow and ice, but we held our hands together to make sure that we were both safe.
We make it over the hill and make it where the others are gathered near a narrow entrance to what appeared to be a cave made entirely of ice, two large icicles stuck themselves into the ground a few inches away from each other. Looking towards the entrance, I watch as Ant walks up to the entrance and wields out an iron axe. He begins chopping away at the narrow passage, attempting to expand it to make it easier for us to squeeze through. After one last swing at the ice, Ant lowers his axe before turning to us and states, "Come on, guys. The faster we get the weapons, the faster we can get out of this possible deathtrap."
Some of the guys nod in agreement and begin to approach the entrance. As Jen and I started to walk towards the widened entrance, I stopped abruptly as I felt something unusual in the air. Despite my lack of magical power anymore, my heighten senses could right away tell me if something was out-of-place. I quickly glanced over at a nearby ledge above me. If it was me, I could have sworn that I saw something dart back to avoid being seen.
"Seto, come on! Let's go!" I heard Jen say, tugging at my hand. Frowning a bit from what I thought was near the ledge, the shake off the sight and follow Jen and the others into the cavern. But I had to keep my guard up at all times, 'cause something just didn't feel right to me.
Demented's POV-
That was way too close. I took quiet, yet repeated breaths as I hoped and prayed that the one in the purple cloak didn't see me. I silently peek over from the ledge and watch as the cloak-wearing male entered the cavern along with the others. I sighed in relief, then I proceeded to follow them. I leaped from the ledge and land on my feet upon the icy ground. I look ahead and see the entrance into the cold cavern.
"Perfect. I got them right where I want them. Especially the headphone-wearing male and that humanoid fish creature. They will be perfect as my prizes," I thought to myself. But then, I quickly remembered what this place was, then I wondered if the group could get past the creature that resided within this cold, harsh environment.
Ty's POV-
As we entered the cavern, we found ourselves walking down a hall-like passageway made completely of ice. Walking alongside Sky, I gaze at the wall next to me and see unusual cravings into the ice. Most of the drawings are creatures that would live in a cold place, such as penguins and polar bears, but then... for some strange and unexplained reason, the drawings that slowly pasted by me started turning kind of... disturbing.
The first drawing I see is a person impaled into an icicle while another person, who is a female, is reaching out for the impaled person and crying out for help as a creature lunges right for her from behind.
The next drawing I see is multiple people impaled deep within icicles while others are stuck on the very tip of the sharp ice. I shuddered as I moved away from the frightening drawings on the ice. I turn to Sky and whisper to him, "This place is giving me the creeps."
"I know. What kind of creature lives here?" Adam replies to me, to which I shrug. I can only hope this creature wouldn't be as menacing as the drawings seem to depicted it to be. It must have taken who lives here forever to make a hall of ice like this.
We continued down the cold hallway, but it always seem like we were walking in circles. The only sign that told me that we were going the right way was the drawings in the ice, each carved image gets more and more frightening. But soon, my view at the walls was interrupted when I hear Bash, who is walking right behind Sky, states to us, "You guys seem a little tense. How about I play a song to calm us down?"
I turn slightly over my shoulder and ask him, "You actually play an instrument?"
"Of course I do," Bash replies. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a silver harmonica, the sudden movements from the melon causes the small instrument to glow brightly and reflect the environment around it. "I haven't touch this thing in a while, but I'm an expert when it comes to playing it," Bash explains as he holds up the harmonica near his mouth.
Right then, I hear his dog point out, "Looking up one song on the Internet doesn't automatically make an expert, Bash!"
"Well, at least I can remember the notes of the song... almost. Anyway, here I go!" Bash said, and he holds up the harmonica to his mouth and play out a couple of loud sour notes. They echo down the hall harshly, bouncing off the walls and slightly shaking the ground beneath our feet. I wince as I push my headphones tighter against my ears to prevent more sound from entering.
"Okay, Bash, I think we heard enough!" I exclaim while covering my ears, but the loud sounds erupting from that small item seems to make Bash oblivious to whoever was talking to him. Everyone else seem to wince and cover their ears, only three who aren't doing that is Dave, Aqueous, and Murphy, although Aqueous seem to have a pissed-off look on his face. After a few more moments of Bash playing extremely off-key with his harmonica, I quickly see Aqueous lunge forward and grab the instrument out of Bash's hands.
"The next time I hear someone either singing or playing like nails on a chalkboard, they will be in for it!" Aqueous exclaimed angrily, then grunts as he throws his arm back and throws the instrument in front of us. Suddenly, the harmonica crashes through a wall of what appeared to me as thin ice. In front of us, a new entrance was revealed. I look back over to Aqueous and he is panting heavily as he tries to catch his breath.
Then, Bash says to him "Alright, dude, just take a chill pill. If you wanted me to stop, you could have just asked."
"None of us couldn't tell you because of the deafening sounds made from that vile instrument, Dasher!" Aqueous states to him, glaring at the melon. I never saw him get that angry with someone before. He and the other two usually seem quiet and calm, but this is taken out of proportion. He also messed up Bashur's name, to which I couldn't help but raise my suspicions towards him.
"It's Bashur. I'm not a reindeer," Bash jokingly responded to the man.
Aqueous seem to only get more steamed, until eventually, he realized that all of us were looking at him in confusion. He quickly loses his enraged fury in his voice as he states to everyone, "Sorry about that, guys. I...I haven't had anything to eat in a while."
Then, behind the group, I hear Murphy say, "But you just had a sand-"
He gets cut-off when Dave turns to him and slaps him across the face. Murphy gently grasps his cheek as he cowers back in fear. Before any more fights could happen, I quickly look ahead and exclaim, "Guys, look! I think the weapons must be in there!" Quickly, we all dash across the ground and towards the newly found entrance. I am the first one to reach the doorway. I cautiously peek my head out of the doorway and see that the entrance led into a lair-like chamber, very few torches lit up the room, and they were already burning out.
Looking down at my feet, I quickly see a staircase. I carefully put a foot on the first step, but it didn't slide across. I quickly knew that the stairs were made up of a different material. I moved on and descend down the steps, hearing the others arrive and follow down as well. Once we all arrived in the lair, I quickly take a survey of our new surroundings. The walls of the lair are filled with razor-sharp icicles, the ceiling also decorated with large icicles. I look ahead as I see Adam move away from the group.
"We better be careful, guys. Any of the icicles above us could fall," Adam quickly alerted us. Everyone muttered in agreement. Then, everything just turned quiet... too quiet, in my opinion.
Then, a loud screech entered the room out of nowhere. That noise as about as deafening as Bash's skills with his harmonica. Looking above me, I gape as I see the icicles above us begin to shake violently with the screech. One large icicle with a dark object inside it, right in the middle of the lair falls out of its place. All of us backed away as quickly as we could as it penetrates into the ground in less than a second. Then, it began to break apart fast, cracks run down from the bottom of the icicle to the very tip, which is buried deep into the glowing floor.
Then, it explodes and sends shards of ice flying everywhere. We covered our faces with our arms. I feel a couple of ice particles hit against my arms, but luckily, I wasn't impaled by them. We all slowly gaze from behind our arms and gape in shock of the sight in front of us.
A serpent-like creature shakes itself clear of any ice shards and glares at us with red eyes with cat-like pupils. It seem to only have the body of a woman and the rest of its body like a snake, only it was completely covered in small icicles. Upon its head, it wore a crown with an Ender crystal attached to the middle of it and crystals jagged out from within the crown. It crosses its arms over its chest as it spoke in a very deep, yet feminine voice, "Well... isn't this an unpleasant surprise?"
"Who the Nether are you?!" Adam yelled in anger, risking everything as he stepped away from us and stood bravely in front of the monster, who was only a short distance away from him.
"You dare speak to me like that?! And right after you heathens have the audacity to tread into my beautiful and cold home and destroy my entrance into my lair?! I shouldn't have to explain who I am," the woman answers back to him stubbornly.
This only provoked Adam more as he growls to her, "Do NOT waste my time."
"I am Rinchi, the protector of the Sharp Twin Daggers and the lone queen of the Ice Spikes biome. Nearly my entire life, I have dedicated myself to make sure that these weapons don't go into the wrong hands by making this biome and my home the most dangerous environment to walk through. Any who have step foot into my lair... were never heard from again. Yet, I'm surprised you all made this far without getting impaled by any of my hand-crafted icicles," Rinchi stated to us, lifting herself up from the ground with her snake-like body to make herself seem more intimating.
However, this barely had any effect on Sky. Instead, he said to her, "Listen... we only came here because we need the Sharp Twin Daggers to save the world. If you refuse to surrender them, then we'll have no other choice but to fight."
"Picking a fight already, huh?" Rinchi questioned in delight. "Don't make me laugh. Even the most bravest and toughest fighters were defeated by me. The sight of watching them slowly die as they slide down my icicles and their loved ones who have traveled with them cry out in misery is just music to my ears. Love has always disgusted me, but watching it die like a flame is just enough satisfaction for me."
"You're a sick, twisted b****, you know that?!" I heard Vengelfe exclaim as she joins besides Adam. Rinchi raise one of her glowing arms, a blue aura appears over her hand. The same aura appears around Vengelfe's neck as she is lifted into the air and brought closer to the creature.
"Now... don't say things like that. You'll make me cry," Rinchi said sarcastically.
I continue to look on as Husky steps away from the group and states to Rinchi, "You better not hurt her, Rinchi!"
I hear Vengelfe state to her, "My lover and I won't let you get away with this. You are going to pay for everything that you've done to hurt the love of travelers who have come here!"
Rinchi turns her gaze at Vengelfe and exclaims, "Love? You think that is going to protect you?! Please, don't be so fooled by that emotion. Besides, how can you love him without A HEART?!" Rinchi yanks Vengelfe back and throws her, roaring out in fury. Vengelfe screams as she hits the wall with a loud piercing sound. Everyone gasps in fear while others scream in terror. I watch in pure fright as Vengelfe is stuck against the wall with a large icicle where her heart is. She groans in pain as she slowly closes her eyes.
"VENGELFE!" Husky cries out, running after the impaled girl on the wall.
I stare in shock for a few moments, then turn my glare at the queen, who only seem to have a sadistic smile on her face. She chuckles darkly before saying, "Oh well... looks like she won't be loving anytime soon."
"That tears it! You've gone way too far, Rinchi! If you're not gonna surrender the daggers peacefully, then I guess we'll have to take them by force!" Adam angrily yells at her, unsheathing the Rugged Rapier from its sheath. Jerome, Mitch, Dawn, Ian, and Bash do the same and wield out their weapons of choice.
Rinchi, however, is unfazed by this. She stands her ground as a crystal-made helmet forms over her head. She replies with a glare, "If it's a fight you all want, it's a fight you all will get!"
The ice queen held out her arms, and immediately, giant ice spears formed in her hands. Once they become completely solid, Rinchi looks towards the us Minecrafters, who are all wielding our weapons to fight against her. The only one that isn't fighting is Husky, because he is still grieving over Vengelfe's now dead body. The creature cackles evilly, and then she throws ice spears towards us. Despite how big those icicles were, we manage to dodge them easily. I roll away, and pull out my diamond sword, and run towards Rinchi, along with everyone else. In one giant wave we all run towards her, jumping out of the way whenever she tried to stab us with her icicles. The closest ones to her reached her quickly, and began to fight against her.
Adam stabbed her legs, along with Bashur and Ian. Dawn, who is up and moving and not in pain at the moment, uses her lava power to fly up in the air and blast Rinchi with blistering lava, and Mitch pulls out his Katniss and shoots up towards her eyes, trying to blind her. I move behind her as she stumbles around trying to shake off my friends, avoiding her feet as she stomps around me. As she picks up her foot, I jump on her leg, and cling on to her spikes as she desperately exclaims in pain.
I look around as I get thrown and tossed around, and I see that Pixel is looking up to me in shock. "Ty, what in the Nether are you doing?!" she exclaimed, holding her iron sword limply in hand.
Rinchi growls as she finally manages to shake off almost everyone, and as she does that, I realize that she didn't know I was on there. "You are all a bunch of rats, filthy, dirty rats. And it is going to be so much fun killing all of you," Rinchi hissed, and then she held out her hands, which lit up with an icy blue tint. My friends backed up slightly in fear, each one that was previously fighting strongly now cowering back in fear. Adam, however, still doesn't give up.
"Not if I have to say anything about it!" Adam exclaimed, holding his arms out in a protective fashion.
The Ice Queen looks down to Adam, and gives out a laugh that echoes all around the cavern. "So, we have ourselves a classic little hero, huh? Do you really think that you are going to save all of your friends, human? Do you think that at the end of the day, anyone will remember you as a hero for what you did? No, they will remember you for the coward you are, and there will never be such thing as a hero. That is a fairy tale, and this is reality. And, besides, do you know how all heroes end? Dead. By the one thing they have a flaw for, they always fall. Here, let me help you get closer to that end!"
Rinchi aims her hands towards Adam, and within seconds, the blast of energy is formed and ready to fire. "Say goodbye to your friends, HERO!" Rinchi shouts, and then she fires the blast towards Sky.
I stare in shock as the blast goes hurtling towards my best friend. I am still hanging on to the back of her leg, having stopped when Rinchi fired the blast that was destined to kill Adam. Time seemed to slow down, and suddenly, I saw two people dart in front of Adam, jumping in the way of the blast. The energy collides with them, and with a thunderous blast, everyone gets knocked down, except for Rinchi and me, since I am behind her leg and protected from that blast. However, I still cover my face when the blast goes out, and when I feel that the residue of the explosion had faded off, I uncover my face, and stare in shock at the scene that I behold. Two forms are lying on the ground, their bodies smoking from the spots where the blast of icy energy had collided with their bodies. Bodil hobbles forward, his fake foot having been frozen from Rinchi's blasts, and collapses next to the bodies. I didn't know who they were, but I knew that Rinchi was going to pay for what she did.
"What?! How did that happen? Oh well, two for one is still a good deal. But hero, you will die, and I will do that gladly for you," Rinchi exclaimed, slithering forward and approaching Adam, who was still in shock from what just happened.
I climb on top of her head, Rinchi still not aware that I was there, and I say while raising up my sword, "No, I will gladly do that for you, Rinchi!" Before she could comprehend what just happened, I plunge my diamond sword in the top of her head, and the blade sinks down to the hilt. She cried out in pain from the blade going into her skull, and immediately Seto and Jen run forward, potions in their hands. Seto chucks a potion of harming up to her eyes (I don't have any idea how he managed to get it all the way up there in the first place), which blinds her. Rinchi cries out, grasping on to her eyes and writhing around. I keep on her head by holding on to the handle of my diamond sword, and I try my best to twist the blade. Jen is holding a battle-axe, and with the help of Seto's flying powers (or whatever he has left in him), goes flying up into the air and buries the battle-axe into her skull. I know doing that was hard for her, since Jen did not like to kill many things, but she still managed to do it. With one final cry of pain, Rinchi falls to the ground, causing many of the icicles in the ceiling to fall down and stab into the ground. One icy breath escapes from her, and then her body freezes completely, and the monster is dead.
Pulling out my diamond sword which, not surprisingly, was not covered in blood, I then hold it in my hand, panting. My arms were sore from holding myself up in place on her icy body, which was shocking to me. Usually doing something like that did not tire my body easily. I sheath my sword, and look over to Seto and Jen, who stood nearby, holding one another in their arms. Jen seemed to be traumatized by what she had helped do, but she still managed to keep in her emotions as she looked down to the dead body of the killer of the two friends and Vengelfe.
Suddenly, I remember what had happened earlier, and I rush over to where all of my friends were gathered, and look down in shock to the two dead bodies on the ground, now partly frozen. They belonged to Pixel and Simon. Bodil was nearby, sobbing. The tears were turning to ice though, and so most of his face was icy with crystals. Adam was kneeling behind Bodil, rubbing his back softly. "Why did... they have to... die? Simon... never deserved to... die like that, nor... did Pixel," Bodil sobbed, hiccupping between his sobs. I was shocked. This was the first time that I saw Bodil crying. He didn't even cry when his foot got taken off by Bashur's INN. But it made sense. Pixel was his girlfriend, and Simon was his best friend. Even though neither one of them really talked, they still made a huge difference in all of us.
"They didn't deserve the fate they got, Bodil. No one deserved to die on this journey. But we cannot change what has happened. They risked their lives to save mine, and for that, I will always be in their debt. They will not die as savages, Bodil, but they will be remembered forever for what they did. They will be heroes, along with anyone else that has died or is going to die on this journey," Sky said, trying to comfort the Bulgarian. At that last comment everyone looked up to him in shock, even though they knew it was true. More people were going to die, they just didn't know which ones were going to die.
I sweep a look around, and look to all the sad faces in the room. Sky, Dawn, Mitch, Jerome, Sierra, Eagle, Preston, Ant, Preston, Ashley, Ray, Jordan, Jason, Brotato, Ian, April, Jen and Seto (who had moved over to the group close behind me), Brice, Bodil, Gizzy, Wolf, Kermit, Bashur, Quentin, Spade, Noah, WeedLion, Blue Monkey, Deceptibonks, Aqueous, Dave, Murphy, and Alix. That is what is left of our little group. Everyone looks like they are sick, withered away, almost dead themselves. Every single one of them have exhaustion in their faces and sadness in their eyes, especially Aqueous, Dave and Murphy. They look like they had taken a pretty bad beating from Rinchi and her icicles, looking almost more like skeletons than human beings.
Quentin moves up next to me, tears staining his cheeks as well. He had just gotten over the loss of his girlfriend, which I knew was a pretty big blow on him. "Ty, I feel that this journey has become more than just a journey... but a ticket straight to death. Everyone is already basically dead, and many of us have already died, which we will feel the sting of their deaths for a long time. But... at least we stopped the Squids. All we have to worry about now is Herobrine and the last two monsters that guard the last two weapons other than this one," Husky said softly, looking over to Seto, who was now wielding the Sharp Twin Daggers. They must have been in or on Rinchi. The weapons were very beautiful, but to me, it meant nothing now but a piece of weaponry which caused four deaths to get. The hilts were an icy blue color, with spike designs all along the hilt. The blades were crafted perfectly, gleaming in the ice that we stood in. But the glimmer was dull.
Right then, we hear an echo go out, and this echo is of a man laughing. Everyone is shocked and confused by this, and looks around, trying to find the source of the laughing. I turn around, and spot a man in a black cloak standing on a ridge nearby. (Sorry if I get Demented's description wrong, it's been a while since I got the PM about him and I deleted it accidentally...) His blonde hair was slightly frozen from being in the cold, and his dark eyes glint amusement. He jumps down from his ridge, and he walks up to us. Adam pushes his way to the front and is wielding the Rugged Rapier in front of him as a defense system. "What is so amusing?" Adam hisses, glaring at the man. I look over to Bashur and Alix, who are looking at him in confusion. I didn't know what the cause of that was, but I just ignored it as I turned back to the mysterious man.
"You really think that the Squids are done for? Just because you destroyed Derpollolus doesn't mean that the threat of the Squids is done with," the man said, tossing his hair away from his face slightly.
A murmur goes out between my friends. We all thought the Squids were done for, and the man saying that seemed to make Adam really mad. "Who are you and how do you know that?" Sky growled, his anger getting the better of him, and behind his sunglasses I could see that his eyes were starting to turn white.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. Rachel there should know me, though, but I guess I will introduce myself to the rest of you. My name is Demented, and how I know that the Squid threat is not through with yet is because... well, do you see Aqueous, Dave and Murphy? They are not humans like you think they are. They are hybrids... Squid hybrids."
