"All units. Equalist convoy is on the loose. Suspects are armed and dangerous; last seen making escape on the Burrows Boulevard," the dispatch speaker from the police scanner said, as everyone in Asami's car were listening for any disturbances.
"Guess that is our cue," Mako suggested.
"Let's get him," Korra said, as Asami switched gears and pressed harder on the gas pedal.
They saw Equalist vehicles driving by in great speeds, so team Avatar pursued.
"Hang on," Asami yelled back to the passengers, as she picked up speed to knock the back of Equalist motorcycles. However, before she could hit the motorcycles, the back tires of the motorcycles blew up as if something popped them. The drivers of the motorcycles fell to the street severely hurt, but they'll survive.
Korra looked to Clar to see if he was going to get them, but to her surprise, he seemed to be paying attention to the other Equalists that were ahead.
"Clar, you didn't have anything to do with that," Korra asked in a low volume voice just for only Clar to hear.
"Sure I did. Just looked and popped," Clar said.
"You could have gotten them killed," Korra argued
"They're fine. Besides, we have other things to worry about," Clar shrugged off Korra's concern.
They made it close to the van, where Mako managed to shoot a bolt of lightning at the engine, just enough to where it malfunctioned and stopped with a crash. The young adults stopped to apprehend the Equalists that were inside the van, and when they were about to open it, out came three Intergangsters wearing the exoskeletons.
"Get back," Korra yelled back to her comrades.
They complied, as the earthbending Intergangster summoned a large wall of earth, and he was about to launch it all on the team. Luckily, Korra and Clar stepped in stopped by smashing it with their fists. Clar noticed how Korra smashed the wall, and he was impressed at the display of strength she put into it.
'Looks like she has been working out,' Clar thought in the back of his head.
The earthbender attacked by throwing larger boulders in a faster rate, so Korra closed her distance, again, Clar noticed another difference in her, her speed and reaction timing. Korra smashed every boulder that came her way, and when she got close to the earthbender, the earthbender tried to use his amped up strength to beat Korra. Unfortunately for him, when he threw down two overhead smashes, he noticed that Korra was holding up his arms without showing any strain of struggle. Korra finished it off quick by kneeing him in the gut.
"Wheeeew, I definitely love what I see" that was all Clar could say, as he was still staring at Korra after her display of taking out an amped earthbender.
While the earthbender was taken out, Bolin was taking on the firebender, and he seemed to be going pretty well, since he was still covered in a self-made earth cocoon while the firebender was raining it all on him. However, Bolin knew what to do in the situation.
"Don't fail on me," Bolin said, before he started to speak some dialect. As he finished the sentence of dialect, he was gone from the spot he was in. The earth cocoon didn't hold up much longer since there was no bender to keep it steady and in place. The firebender thought that he finished off Bolin, and was about to help his comrades. Suddenly, somebody pulled the meteor rock out of the power outlet of his exoskeleton, and the firebender passed out from all the power leaving him. Bolin stood right by the fallen firebender, as he held the meteor rock in his hands.
"Xandu, I love you and your teachings," Bolin said with joy from succeeding in whatever ability he displayed.
The waterbender was putting all the water that was around him, into attacking Mako and Asami. Luckily, there was hardly any water in the area, so Mako and Asami were able to even out the odds with what they had. Asami had a short armed harpoon-gun, so she fired at the waterbender, but the waterbender was able to jump out of Asami's aim. Mako took the offense, and fired blasts of fire at the waterbender, but the waterbender then sensed a water drainage pipe right below him and summoned the water to use it against them. Mako pulled Asami into cover from the incoming ice spikes coming their way, and the waterbender was about to send all the water to finish off his opponents, but he a plate of rock hit hi square to the chest The couple looked to who was it that saved them from possible endangerment of death, and to their luck, it was Clar holding another plate of earth.
"Thanks," Mako said.
"You owe me," Clar replied.
From the driver side of the van, an Equalist with a harpoon-pistol crawled out and aimed it at the heroes.
"Die, you filthy benders," he said as he balanced himself from the injuries he received from the crash.
Clar was just about to shoot his flame vision at the Equalist gunman, but somebody else took his opportunity and killed the gunman with black powdered piercer. Everyone looked to where the piercer was shot from, and they saw a United Forces military air ship closing in on them.
"This is the United Forces Air Division. Drop all weapons, keep your hands where we can see them, and do not move, or we will fire."
Everyone did as they were told, while Clar followed along as if it were no big deal.
"Looks like we are spending time in the slammer," Clar commented.
"I don't want go to jail," Bolin complained.
"Don't worry, bro, we'll explain ourselves and everything will be fine," Mako comforted his brother.
"Just don't drop the soap, gentlemen," Clar advised, as the U.F. soldiers made their way towards them. When they got close enough to see the group of friends, the soldiers were able to see that the Avatar was there
"Avatar Korra? What just happened," the officer asked.
"We were driving by until we saw Equalists making an escape attempt, so I decided that it was best to pursue the," Korra explained.
"Seems too good to be true. You all are coming with us," the officer said, as he ordered the other under ranked soldiers to take them.
"This looks familiar, doesn't it Korra," Clar asked as he leaned towards Korra.
"A little different this time, though," Korra answered.
"Now that I think about it, you actually did look cute when you get riled up," Clar commented, as Korra blushed at Clar's comment.
Around the same time during Team Avatar's Equalist pursuit…
Fists were flying, blades were slashing, and black-powdered piercers were being shot.
The dark knight and world class assassin were in a lethal fight of the night, and it had only been about a minute into the fight. Deathstroke swung his sword to cut down his opponent, but the Batman was able to block the sword with his wrist blades. The assassin attempted to fire his piercer gun at the Batman, but the gun was knocked out of his hand by Batman's other hand.
Batman retaliated with a knee to the assassin, but Deathstroke blocked knee with his arm that used to hold the gun. There was only one opening that Deathstroke wouldn't be able to black, so Batman went ahead and head-butted the assassin in his nose. Deathstroke was incapacitated just for the moment, so Batman took it by pulling out a small electric rod and electrocuted the ninja.
As Batman was handling Deathtroke, Green Arrow went to handle a still freed Deadshot. When he got up to see where the shooter ran off to, he was met with a lightning bolt. The archer looked to see if it was a confused Black Lightning, which luckily it was.
"Are you blind you idiot," Green Arrow shouted.
"Sorry. I ran into the Persuader, and he pushed me back up here, and I lost him," the lightning-bender apologized.
"Well bully for you, I just lost Deadshot, got my butt handed to me by another assassin, and I had the Batman get me out of that situation," Green Arrow vented out.
"Do I detect a tone of shame of failure?"
"Shut up. Batman is still taking care of the one eyed ninja."
"You got beaten up by one eyed ninja?"
"That's beside the point. We need to go help him, since Deadshot skedaddled."
"Right."
The two masks went to where the fight between Batman and Deathstroke were fighting, and they saw the two stealth masters battling. However, they would soon be disturbed by incoming United Forces airships closing in on their positions.
On the airships, the captain of the airship saw the vigilante activity on one of the rooftops in the warehouse district.
"Sir, what are your orders, sir," the sergeant asked.
"General Loin wants all public enemies to be apprehended if possible. I want you to neutralize them, by any means necessary," the captain ordered the sergeant.
"Yes sir."
Meanwhile, on the warehouse, the masked heroes had the assassin pined to a wall, and they were unaware of the incoming airships that were coming from behind their visual perspective. However, Deathstroke was able to catch the airship coming.
"Guess my customers are going to have to wait for their contract to be fulfilled," Deathstroke said, right before he pulled out a flash grenade, and set it off to disorient the masked heroes and he was gone.
The Batman quickly turned around to see the military airships closing on them.
"We need to get out of here," the Batman said.
"You got an escape vehicle," Black Lightning asked.
Batman didn't answer, but instead he ran towards one side of the warehouse. Green Arrow and Black Lightning ran right behind him.
"Did he act like this when you over there in Oth-Yen," Black Lightning asked.
"No. He just ran off without even suggesting that we should run from the authorities," the archer answered as he and the lightning-bender were running.
They saw Batman jumping off the edge of the warehouse, and when the other two masks got to the ledge they saw that the Batman jumped on to a very unique car. Batman looked back up waiting for Green Arrow and Black Lightning to jump on in.
"Let's go," the Batman shouted.
Black Lightning looked back to see metalbendering soldiers dropping from the airship, and making their way towards their intended objectives.
"Move it or lose it," Green Arrow said, right before he jumped down to the, 'bat car.' Black Lightning jumped down as well, and they entered the car and the vigilantes of the night were on their escape route.
"You idiots really screwed things up," the Batman commented as he was driving.
"We screwed up," Black Lightning repeated.
"You followed a false tip on a location. You ran into a trap, and almost got yourselves killed," Batman criticized.
"False tip was from bozo here," Green Arrow said.
"You're the one who almost got killed," Black Lightning remarked back.
"Shut up. Look, I was on to something nearby, and I had to postpone that to save you idiots."
"This is embarrassing," Green Arrow commented.
"Why are here," Black Lightning asked.
"The Equalist movement is spreading. It's made its way to Oth-Yen. It has been attracting some of the criminals to work for them. Now there is one that can be a real threat," Batman answered.
"The United Forces are here, what could possibly go wrong besides the people losing liberty?"
"You do not know what is coming," that was all Batman said, as he shifted the gear for the car to move faster.
Meanwhile…
"What is your gain by working with the Avatar," the detective, demanded an answer, as he was interrogating Clar.
"I would answer your question, but the problem is, is that I don't like you because you're being a tool," Clar answered.
"I could lock you up for a long time, boy," the other detective said.
"Like that is going to scare me," Clar responded, as he was adjusting the ring on his finger.
The detectives were getting really irritated that they were very close to breaking their rules. That would be the case, until the door opened and it turned out to be Lieutenant Jun Jo-ons.
"That is enough with interrogation with you two," Jun said as he pulled out a chair from under the table.
"But Lieutenant, we were just about…"
"That's final," Jun interrupted them. The detectives were out ranked by the Lieutenant, so they had to follow his orders and move on out. After they left, Jun finally spoke to Clar.
"I'm not sure if that Lan girl was able to spread her reporter personality to you, but your definitely out of character now," Jun said to Clar.
"You going to arrest me for that," Clar asked with sarcasm.
"No. You of all people should already be aware about the martial laws already in effect."
"What can I say? Right place right time. The bad guys were on the loose, me and Korra gave them a beating."
"Since when did you start calling the Avatar by her first name?"
"Since I noticed how hot she was."
Jun then noticed that this was definitely not like Clar, but right now was not the time to find out if he actually was attracted to the Avatar.
"Listen, I already worked out the paper work. They'll be letting you and your friends out in a matter of minutes," Jun said.
"Guess having a cop as a friend can come in handy," Clar said.
In another interagation room, Asami was still setting in the table with nobody there to ask her any questions. While on the other side of the mirror glass, a military officer was standing there with Lee and his large bodyguard standing beside him.
"So you wish to speak with her," the officer asked Lee.
"Your superior officer has given me the jurisdiction to step in to such activities like this," Lee responded.
"Can I see proof," the officer asked.
"Certainly," Lee pulled out a sealed letter and handed it to the officer. The letter was signed by General Loin, and it stated exactly what Lee just stated. So the officer allowed Lee to enter the room
Asami heard the door opening and looked to see a very familiar face. A face she hadn't seen in such a long time.
"Lee?"
"Hello sis."
Meanwhile, in a holding cell, Bolin was setting beside Mako, and Bolin couldn't stay relaxed since there was some guy next to him whimpering.
"Uh… are you alright sir," Bolin asked.
"I dropped the soap," the man paused as he breathed in a gasp of air. "It just slipped."
Bolin slowly turned his back forward, and he tried to think happy thoughts.
'Take it easy, Bolin. Everything is going to be fine. If anything happens, I know I can count on Mako to back me up,' Bolin tried to calm himself down.
"Hey, Bro, you wouldn't mind switching places with me," Bolin asked Mako. Mako looked to who was setting beside Bolin.
"Nope. Your good right there," Mako said.
A military officer told the jailer the orders that had been given, and the jailer went to the cell that Mako and Bolin were in.
"Mako and Bolin, you all have been released," the jailer called out.
"Thank Nabu," Bolin praised out loud, and Mako looked at him confused.
"Thank who," Mako asked.
"Er… nothing," Bolin tried to lie.
"You said something called 'Nabu'. Are you experimenting another religion again," Mako asked.
"No."
"You know what forget about it," Mako dropped it as he was the first one to walk out of the cell and Bolin followed right behind.
When they made it out to the waiting area of the police station, they saw Clar walking beside Jun Jo-ons.
"So, how was your time in the slammer," Clar asked Bolin and Mako.
"Well, I learned from other people's experience, is to keep a good grip on the soap," Bolin answered.
"Told you," Clar said, as he patted Bolin hard on the back.
"Ow."
"My turn to ask the question. How was your interrogation," Mako asked.
"The detectives tried acting tough with me. They only made me laugh at their stupidity," Clar said, but then he heard Jun clearing his throat. "No offense Jun."
"None taken," Jun responded. He then looked at his watch, and he noticed that he had to get back on track with his police work. "Don't make me save your hide next time, Kenta."
"Aww come on. You know you can't resist helping your best friend out," Clar said just loud enough for Jun to hear as he walked away. It wasn't long until Korra was walking to where they were."
"Hey gorgeous," Clar said with his arms crossed around his chest, which made Bolin's eyes widened in surprise, while Mako seemed to be fuming to what Clar just called Korra.
"Hehe… hey… buddy," Korra really didn't know how to respond to Clar's sudden flirting comments, but she wasn't going to be responding them in a rude matter, of course.
Mako didn't want to show any more signs that he was actually getting jealous, so he just blurted out; "What is taking Asami so long?"
"Maybe it has to do with suspicion, since her father is an Equalist," Clar answered Mako's question.
"Hey watch it! Asami is nothing like those Equalists," Mako responded.
"I never said she was," Clar said coolly.
"Well don't compare her to her father," Mako replied back.
"Oh what you going to do," Clar challenged Mako, and Mako just growled as he was about to get closer to Clar. Luckily, Korra was able to push Clar away from Mako, while Bolin pushed Mako away from heading to Clar. Not to mention the police started to notice a disturbance.
"Is there a problem," a police officer asked.
"No no. Everything is fine officers," Bolin answered, which gave the officers a hint that they had it under control. This time, Korra needed to find out what was really wrong with Clar.
"Clar, what's wrong with you," Korra demanded an answer.
"What's wrong with me? It was Mako who started it by getting angry. I was only finishing something."
"Get a hold of yourself."
Before Clar could reply, in the police radios, there was call about Intergangsters making a strong hold up and capture on Republic Capital. They were all wearing the exoskeletons and they were too much for even the United Forces to handle as they spoke.
Korra looked to Clar to see if he had any intentions on stopping it.
"Please tell me that you haven't lost your moral in stopping crime," Korra asked.
"Of course I haven't. What you think I could change that fast?"
"Well you are acting strange."
"But I bet you like this new Clar, don't you," Clar leaned towards Korra.
"Errr… Clar… we… have… other problems. The Intergangsters," Korra stuttered, but managed to remind him about the problem.
"Spoil sport, but I'll get it sometime soon" Clar said, right before he took off to the Republic Capital.
He was running at such a great blurring speed that there was nobody that could even see him fully, but just a streak of red and blue. While at that speed, he ripped off the clothes that he had on over his hero outfit. The hero uniform was still the same, except for one certain thing.
The Intergangters had Councilman Tarrlock as a hostage, since he was the only council member that was there that night.
"There is no way out of this. I assure you, that we do not make deals with terrorists," Tarrlock said as he was tied up to a chair.
"Yeah, you put too much faith in your followers. You can never know how much they are willing to make considering the consequences," the Intergangster said.
"What do you want," Tarrlock demanded an answer.
"We want you to call off all the United Forces out of Republic City," the Intergangster said.
"You must be crazy to expect that the army would leave that easily."
"Yeah. We'll take our chances."
Suddenly, they heard a loud crashing sound from the wall, and when they looked to see what it was, they saw no wall at all, but instead, a large hole with a tall figure with a red cape standing there.
"Criminal scum, you all are going down."
"Kill him," the leader yelled for the firebenders to fire at him, but the figure sucked in air and blew against the fire and the firebenders were blown back.
Outside, there was a perimeter block around the Republic Capital, and there were reporters standing behind the perimeter. Lan and Jemien were there as well, and they were just as shocked as anyone to see somebody, possibly the Guardian, just jump up and break through the wall of the Republic Capital. They could hear the battle going on in the Capital, and there was no denying that there the Intergangsters were in a fight for their lives. At least, that was what they thought.
"Was that actually the Guardian who did that," Jemien asked.
"I don't know. He has never done anything like that before," Lan answered.
Then there was silence from the Capital building. That was, until, a van broke out from the garage parking area of the Capital, and it was speed out of their as if the driver was trying to escape from somebody chasing him. It must have been someone very scary, because he was driving right towards a soldiers and police officers that were armed. Suddenly, something lifted up the van, and it shook out the passengers that were in there, which turned out to be Intergangsters.
"GET OUT OF HERE!"
"Run!"
"HE'LL KILL US!"
The Intergansters screamed as they ran in different directions from the carried up van.
Whatever was carrying it, then decided to smash the van to the ground. And from the angle where Lan and Jemien were, they were able to see who was it that did it. They saw tall and built man, in blue clothes, a red cape, and a strange diamond shape with a serpent in red color boldly labeled across his chest.
Tarrlock was untied during the Intergangsters battle with this so called hero. Walked towards the large hole on the wall, and he saw what the red caped man had just done. He only had a few words to say about what had just been displayed.
"This is no protective guardian. This is the reign of the superman."
The red kryptonite seems to have some effect of Clar. Some people are not taking the new Clar for good, while others just don't know how to respond. Clar seemed to be very intrigued by Korra's feats of strength. Asami has finally met her long lost brother in a long time. The Batman is on to something very large, what is it? How will people react to this Guardian turned Superman? Find out next time?
