Morning across Republic City, which would be considered a beautiful sunrise for the majority of the population, however a fraction of Republic City's residents had other problems to worry about besides the conditions outside. Beneath the capital of the United Republic, in the catacombs, there were improvised base hideouts set up by the remaining police force. Lin was watching as her officers were working around the clock to gather information and prepare for taking back the city from the Equalists and Intergang.
"Jun, report," Lin ordered her right hand man, as she was able to sense him approaching her through her seismic senses.
"We have received telegraph report from the United Forces. They are preparing a strike force to take Republic City, today," Jun informed Lin.
"At last. We can finally take the fight to these terrorists," Lin commented.
"The United Forces are sending reinforcements to our located bases. General Iroh of the Navy branch is to accompany them and arrive here," Jun said.
"Lord Zuko's grandson. It will be good to meet him again," Lin said, as she turned around to walk into a hallway, with Jun walking beside her.
"All other police hideout bunkers have been filled in with this information," Jun said to Lin.
"Excellent," Lin said, as she stopped and placed her hand to the wall. The Chief closed her eyes, letting her seismic senses to feel out the city above. The city was under a strict public security, due to the Equalists already aware of an imminent attack from the resistance and the United Forces. "Take a look around, Jun. This happened to this great city. The city my mother tried protecting as Chief of Police and as Wonder Woman."
"We'll get through this Lin," Jun said to his commanding chief.
"Hmm. I suppose a promotion is in need for you after all this is over. What would you think of being promoted to Inspector?" Lin asked.
"I am just doing my job," Jun responded professionally.
"That is what I like about you, Jun. You have a set mind on a main objective," Lin said, as she turned to around to face Jun.
"The feeling is mutual," Jun said to Lin, showing a bit of a smile, before he turned and walked back to the main hall of the bunker.
Meanwhile…
Asami and Bolin were both setting back in the van, as they stood by Mako's side as he laid on the floor bed of the back van. Mako was in stable condition so far, but the two people that cared for him were still worried.
"How much longer," Asami asked.
"We get there until we get there. If anything does go wrong, we dump this van and get to the United Forces perimeter on foot to avoid any of the Equalist checkpoints," Mercy answered Asami.
"Please hurry," Asami said.
"Calm down. Mr. Luthor has already made sure your boyfriend would be in stable condition. He won't be getting any worse," Mercy said.
"Mr. Luthor?" Bolin asked out loud in confusion. "I thought he was your brother with your last name, Asami?"
"Mr. Luthor had been legally disowned by Mr. Sato, so he has used his middle name as his last name," Mercy explained.
Asami sighed in disappointment acknowledging how her brother was stepping away from her family name. Who could blame him? Asami's father was now destroying the name of the Asami family by being the main contributor to the Equalists.
"You know what I can't understand?" Bolin asked out loud.
"What?" Asami asked.
"What was your brother doing with that Fear Toxin?" Bolin asked.
"Wait… you're right. Monkey Feathers! Why did he have the Fear Toxin?" Asami cursed as she realized a great hole.
"It doesn't matter now. We are nearing the safety zone. Once we get there, we get on foot and show ourselves to the United Forces," Mercy basically ordered for Bolin and Asami to drop the issue concerning Lee having Fear Toxin.
Which it was only a matter of time until they all made it past into the safety zone without being spotted by any Equalist checkpoints. Mercy stopped the van and turned off the engine, she then looked back to the two friends.
"Off the van, now," Mercy said.
Bolin and Asami both got on each side of the medical cot, so that they may carry out Mako and walk their way to the United Forces perimeter. They kept walking for about half a mile, and they could see the United Forces from where they were.
"There they are," Bolin said.
"We just keep going, and if we do see…," Mercy was stopped, as there were war balloons coming from above.
"This is the United Forces, stop right there and keep your hands up," the soldier from the first war balloon shouted.
Bolin and Asami both slowly placed Mako to lay on the ground so that they may show their hands to the soldiers.
A few hours later elsewhere…
Lin and Jun and a few other officers were all standing at the entrance of the tunnel leading to the catacombs. They all kept watch to the bay for any sign for the United Forces reinforcements that will be aiding the police.
"Any sign, Sergeant?" Jun asked the officer who was looking out through binoculars.
"Not yet, Lieutenant," the metal-bending officer answered.
"Then where are they?" Jun asked out loud.
"They are walking," Lin answered.
"What?" Jun asked in confusion.
"I can feel them through my seismic senses. They are using waterbenders to get through in groups deep in bay water floor," Lin said, as she had her eyes closed sensing the United Forces' reinforcement groups coming towards them.
"How many?" Jun asked.
"Five squads. First one is already about to come up?" Lin said.
In about a minute, five men appeared out of the water, and climbed up on the ladders until they finally made it to the entrance of tunnel where the police were waiting. Among this first squad was none other than General Iroh, as he then spotted Lin among her officers.
"Chief Lin Beifong," Iroh addressed.
"General Iroh II," Lin replied, as she and Iroh both shook hands introducing themselves.
"We're here to prepare for the rest of the United Forces to come in and establish order. What do you know?" Iroh asked.
"They are using the Capital and Air Temple Island as main open bases. It is those locations where we confirmed sightings of Amon and Manheim," Lin stated.
"Can you confirm which place they will be in 1500 hours?" Iroh asked.
"Information not available," Lin answered.
"Then we need to find them. We set up teams for each location, and we attain any information we can get to find the location of these two targets," Iroh stated.
"My officers are ready. Lieutenant Jo-ons is in charge of the recon investigation teams," Lin said.
"Then let's get to work in planning. The rest of my squads should be coming up in a minute," Iroh said, as they all walked into the tunnel.
Meanwhile…
In the alley where Clar was found severely wounded with the piercer wound, Batman walked on silently and kneeled to the ground inspecting the place.
'Superman; one of the first metahuman to appear after the downfall of the Justice Society. A metahuman with extreme durability. How did that meteorite piercer pierce Superman?' Batman thought to himself.
Batman picked up some drop portion of blood from the cement and placed it into a vial. The dark knight detective stood up and looked at the obvious trail left by the dog critter pulling on Superman.
"But I need put this offside. I need to locate Amon and Manheim. It's only a matter of time to this day until the United Forces attack. High probable collateral damage," Batman stated his top priorities, as he pulled out a contraption projectile. The caped crusader aimed it up towards the top of the tall buildings, and grapple hook fired from the contraption grabbing on to the ledge of the building which then pulled up Batman in high speeds.
Batman launched up into the air and positioned his cape like a glider to cover more distance and get to his destination.
'The Capital and Air Temple Island, those are the places I need to check,' Batman stated to himself, as he landed and hid under a shadow of a building to avoid being spotted by an Equalist airship that was flying above him.
Meanwhile…
Jun and Lin were both standing in the streets in incognito disguise to avoid being spotted by anyone to notice them in streets. The two fighters of the law were both in front of the Capital, keeping watch of all Equalist and Intergang activity going on in the Capital building.
"Just usual activity. Intergang and Equalist henchman standing at the ready and on guard," Jun said.
"My seismic senses are getting a scan on a portion of the Capital. No sign of Amon, but… Manheim is in there," Lin stated silently only loud enough for Jun to hear.
"Excellent. We just need to get information if he will be there until 3:00," Jun said.
"You think you can get it?" Lin asked.
"What makes you say that?" Jun asked.
"Ever since you transferred over from the Earth Kingdom, you always had the habit of obtaining information out of the blue, and the hunches you come up with that always turn out to be right," Lin stated, as she then crossed her arms across her chest. "You dating a fortune teller?"
"No, I…," Jun paused, as he noticed Lin looking at him sort of funny, with a scowl across her face. "Err, I can read minds."
"So you're the Joker now?"
"No. I am not as crazy as him," Jun said, as he and Lin decided to get back into base to inform Iroh that they have current location of Manheim.
Meanwhile…
In the same alley where Batman was, Corin kneeled down to where there was a stained part of the gravel from the blood left by an injured Superman. Corin had followed the trail that was left behind by Superman's blood, as the "superdog" pulled it's master away to safety.
"The obvious trail ends here. Someone must have found him and took him somewhere. Probably the Equalists or could be Superman's super friends, " Corin deduced.
"You there. Who are you? Why are you in that armor?" am Equalist chi-blocker demanded an answer, as he and his comrades approached Metallo when they caught a glimpse of him standing in the alley.
"Well my boss knows where this revolution is going to. It's going to fall. So I best help out in the collapse," Corin said, as he aimed his left arm, and piercers fired, killing the Equalist members.
"Superman, where the hell are you?" Corin asked out loud, looking at the last piece of trail.
Batman still walked through the temple, searching for any more leads that may give him an advantage against the Equalists and Intergang. Without being noticed, Batman searched, gaining a few vital information for the equalists that could be used as an edge for the police or United Forces. Soon Batman would reach the top of the tower, and it was there where he found none other than Councilman Tarlock.
"Just my luck. I am visited by the Caped Crusader of Oth-Yen. Hmm. I assume you are not here to rescue me,"Tarlock said.
"Amon has you imprisoned in a location that must only be accessible to him, considering going the massive amount of locks and steel door placed to block this room. You are left here alone with no other prisoners. I must assume you and Amon have some relationship that is unknown to anyone else," Batman deduced.
"Excellent deduction. As a matter of fact, Amon is my brother," Tarlock replied to Batman.
"How were you able to tell?" Batman asked.
"I watched as he survived every attack my task force deputies fired at him. And his grip on me felt like his blood-bending grip. Noatak was his birth name. He was somehow... born with extreme dense skin. We both were raised in the Northern Water Tribe, but our father was the former crime boss of Republic City, Yakoon. After attempting to run from the Justice Society, he was found by Aang, and had his bending taken from him. If it wasn't for Katara being by Aang's side then, there would have been a high likelihood Aang would have executed my father."
"My father was living a different life; he and our mother raised me and Noatak with love and care, even with Noatak's ability and physical appearance, making his skin almost look like stone. That all changed when the pupil of Black Adam, Azula, found our family."
"Knowing full well the effectiveness of bloodbending, Azula threatened my father to teach me and Noatak bloodbending. Secretly, my father not only taught us bloodbending, but he also tested Noatak's strength and durability, so that when the time came, Noatak may save our family from that tyrant's apprentice. As we were forced to go through the trials of bloodbending, I noticed something growing in my brother.
"Noatak was a prodigy in water-bending and blood-bending, and his... Powers, he had amazing strength to punch a hole through a glacier and survive the fall from a cliff. He has always wanted for everyone to be treated equally, but times were rough when we were oppressed by Azula."
"Then one night, when we were forced out to present our ability of blood-bending on each other, Azula was also watching her future assets. It was that night where Firelord Zuko and Chief Sokka had located Azula, and made their move to capture her. During the battle, there was a snow storm brewing in, and it got stronger thanks to the influence battle from the two mystical powers of Zuko and Azula. It was on that night my brother was lost in the storm, and he was never found. Hmm. Now I realize that he wasn't lost in that storm, he simply used it as cover," Tarlock finished his summary origin of Amon.
"You are telling me this without me needing to ask questions. You want me to use whatever information of your brother to stop him," Batman deduced.
"I am already desperate as it is. The only people I know that maybe able to stand against my brother are you vigilantes. I never trusted you all," Tarlock explained, as he had a grudge against the heroes, believing they had a part reason to Amon's rise. "Stop him."
"You have been very educational. Thank you," Batman said to Tarlock before he left.
As Batman made his way out, he heard someone approaching into the direction where Tarlock was imprisoned, so Batman quickly used the dark shadows to his advantage in hiding from visual contact. Passing him by looked to be two Equalist chi-blockers, but they looked more lost.
"This way doesn't seem to have much of any guards. As if there isn't nothing worthy here," one masked Equalist said.
"Or they just don't want anyone coming here noticing the less activity," the other one said, and it was the voice of General Iroh.
"Should we turn back?" the other one asked, which Batman assumed had to have been Iroh's soldier.
Before Iroh could answer, the Batman stepped out of the shadows from where he was hiding and stood in behind them both.
"General Iroh," Batman said.
Iroh and his fellow disguised soldier turned back to see the Batman. The soldier reacted by readying his electro-glove to fire at Batman, but Iroh pushed his arm down.
"Stand down," Iroh ordered.
"I have information. Councilman Tarlock has been imprisoned and he has informed me about Amon's true identity," Batman provided Iroh with information.
"Who is he?" Iroh asked, willing to hear out Batman's word.
"His name is Noatak, son of Yakoon, and brother to Tarlock. He is a water-bender with the ability to also blood-bend and he is a metahuman with extreme dense skin," Batman informed.
"Bloodbending? Is that how he is able to remove bending from others?" Iroh asked.
"High likelihood. I have just heard Amon will be making a rally at the arena. Our number one targets will be there. Can you organize a strike force to move in?" Batman asked.
"Yes. I am assuming you have a plan," Iroh asked.
"Yes, I do." Batman said, as he then gave Iroh a communication contraption. "Use this to contact me."
"Roger that," Iroh replied, as he placed the contraption into his pocket, and by the time he looked back to where Batman was, the Batman was already gone.
"General Iroh, permission to state opinion," the disguised soldier requested.
"Granted," Iroh replied.
"We are actually going to work with these vigilantes? They are making things worse," the soldier stated his despisement of working with the masks.
"As far as I am aware, soldier, these terrorists and criminals are the primary threat. We will neutralize them, and until then, we use any militia to help us. Understood," Iroh explained his reason of accepting Batman's help.
"Yes, sir." the soldier answered.
Meanwhile...
Inside the capital, Jun was secretly walking among the Equalists as he made his through the capital so that he may get to Mannheim and take him out. Without being noticed, Jun stood in front of a wall, and then suddenly, phased right through it like if it wasn't there. Jun kept doing so, until he made it into Manheim's office.
Manheim was setting on a chair looking out through the window. Jun assumed he didn't hear him entering the room, so he quickly struck Manheim's shoulder to knock him unconscious, only for Jun to see that Manheim was dead.
"So Amon finally got rid of him," Jun said.
"No. I did," Jun heard a voice, from behind him. He turned around to see someone who looked almost similar to Jun's human shape, but this person was smirking with evil in his face.
"Who are you?" Jun demanded an answer.
"Oh my dear brother, you have been naive. Look a bit closer," the copy of Jun said. Jun tried using his other senses to try and find out who this copy was, and he discovered that this copy was someone he knew.
"Malefak, " Jun stated calmly, but with a tone of anger that was nearly unnoticeable.
"Hello, brother. I see you have made yourself comfortable on this rock. I even noticed you having a soft spot for one of these apes. I am assuming that one is a female you're attached to," Malefak spoke.
"What do you want? And why are you here?" Jun demanded an answer.
"I am here for glory. I am here for power. I am here for fun. I am taking joy as I did by ending the war in our home world," Malefak answered as if he were gloating.
"You killed them all," Jun seethed in anger.
"What? Those pale warmongers had it coming," Malefak defended himself.
"You killed our people! My family," Jun raised his voice in great furious anger, as he rushed at Malefak pinning him to the wall, strangling him.
"J-j'onn J'onzz... The honorable... decorated... Martian Manhunter... of... the criminal-justice... system of the... Green Martians... threaten to... Take vengeance," Malefak tried speaking.
"Whatever reason you are doing with the Equalists, Malefak, I will stop you," Jun warned him.
"I am counting on that, brother," Malefak said. Then Malefak pulled out a piece of red shrapnel, and then quickly sliced it across Jun's arm. Jun felt a stinging sensation from the cut, and he withdrew his grip on Malefak and gripped his own arm to grasp the wound.
"What did you do? What have you done?!" Jun demanded an answer.
"Just a little thing I had been working on. That blade carried the toxin of that scientist ape, Scarecrow. But with a little alteration from me, I made the toxin work on Martian as well. Not sure what the effects will be for Martians, but I guess we'll find out," Malefak said.
Jun could then see everything around him turn to fire, and from the fire, he saw the burning corpses of green reptilian humanoids. All of them moaning, screaming, and burning, and all reaching towards Jun.
"You failed us! You failed us! You failed us! You failed us!" the corpses repeated.
"No!" Jun quickly rushed to any opening he could find, which was the window. Before he could make it to the window, he then saw burning corpse that resembled a feminine figure, and it was holding onto another smaller corpse.
"You failed at your duty, my love. You let me, and our child die," the female corpse said.
"NO! I TRIED! I TRIED!" Jun screamed, as then transformed into the green humanoid form that he transformed when he saved Lin from the Equalists. Jun then jumped up, flying, breaking through the roof and rocketing up into the sky.
"I TRIED!" Jun screamed.
Meanwhile…
In the secret hideout of the police resistance, Lin was looking around for her second in command, Jun, after barely noticing she hadn't seen him in about half an hour. This was rare, considering Jun had been spending most of his time by the Chief's side.
"Officer," Lin called out to a policeman who was by the main entrance of the bunker.
"Yes, Chief?"
"Has Lieutenant Jo-ons exited the bunker?" Lin asked.
"Negative. At least not through this exit," the officer responded.
'Where has he gone?' Lin asked herself in her head. At that time, Iroh and his soldiers, who had been out on reconnaissance, had returned, with the officer letting them in.
"We have some new intel," Iroh stated as soon as he approached Lin.
"What is it?" Lin asked.
"There is a rally being held at the arena. Amon will be there," Iroh said.
"What about Manheim?" Lin asked.
"That's the thing I noticed when we were out there. There are very little Intergang members out there," Iroh stated.
"Is Amon already striking against Intergang? Why would they do it now?" Lin asked.
"I don't know, but we need strike Amon now. I have already made an arranged alliance with the Batman," Iroh stated.
"Quite the big leap. You know what could happen if you are affiliated with working with the vigilantes," Lin said with concern of Iroh risking his own military rank and career by working with the masks.
"I know. I don't expect for you to get involved with this agreement fondly," Iroh said.
"Desperate times call for desperate measures," Lin replied.
"Excellent. I should be receiving a call from the Batman soon. I'll still try and get in contact with him now," Iroh said, as he carried the communication craft.
Meanwhile...
Batman walked into his cave to see if Clar had awoken from his coma, because as of now, they were going to need all the bodies they had that would be able to stop this madness from descending to an all out war. The caped crusader approached the area where Superman was laying resting, as Korra was by his side.
" Good to see our big gun is conscious. We are going to need you," Batman said as he approached.
"Good to be back. What's happened when I was out," Clar asked.
"A lot. And it looks like the United Forces are already preparing to attack very soon," Batman said, as he opened a metal cabinet, taking out Clar's Superman uniform. "You're going to need this."
"What's going to happen?" Korra asked.
"Amon has set up an entire rally at the arena, but there is something else. I found Tarlock, and he has confirmed that Amon is a blood-bender," Batman stated.
"What? Are you serious," Korra asked in disbelief.
"Is that how he takes away people's bending?" Clar asked.
"All likelihood, but not only is Amon a bender, he's a meta-human. Tarlock informed me how he was born with extreme dense skin that makes him near invulnerable, and providing him with extra strength," Batman informed them.
"If it wasn't bad enough with Amon being a blood-bender," Korra said.
"His skin is left him looking as if his skin is made of stone. If we show the people that he has no burns, and prove he is a water-bender in front of him, Amon will lose his entire army and support," Batman came with a solution.
"Sounds like a plan," Clar commented.
"Get dressed. Now," Batman said, as he turned around and walked away.
Clar got on his feet, balancing himself up holding his Superman uniform in his hands. Korra on the other hand, couldn't help but look at Clar, who was removing the patient gown to reveal his bare skinned body. Clar noticed Korra's eyes scanning him, which started to get him and bit uneasy with his cheeks burning.
"Eh... Are you just going to watch me?" Clar asked.
"Yep. I am just admiring. How could lifting hay bales get you fit like that?" Korra plainly asked.
"Amon has just been revealed to be a meta-human blood-bender, and you are just watching me change," Clar stated the situation.
"Kal, I am just following what you advised; look at the bright side," Korra explained her reason.
Clar's face started to blush red in embarrassment and shyness, so he quickly went on in putting on his outfit.
Meanwhile...
Mako was laying in the hospital tent set up by the United Forces, as Asami was still setting by Mako's bedside. Asami looked up to the medic who had just treated Mako.
"Will he be waking up?" Asami asked.
"It's hard to say. He's still in sedation, but we are having him transported to the nearest town with a hospital for him to be treated. The train should be here in a little while," the medic informed Asami.
Bolin was outside to get some fresh air, as the hospital tent was quite too humid for him. The earthbender noticed how there were few soldiers then that last time he looked outside. Bolin saw someone wearing a hood over her head, pass behind him, so he decided to ask her.
"Excuse me, miss, but, did you notice there are few soldiers," Bolin asked.
"The pieces for the pai sho masters to prepare for the game," the woman said as she removed her hood to reveal herself as Xandu.
"Madame Xandu! You made it out of the city," Bolin said with relief.
"I saw it coming," Xandu said, as she showed herself carrying a bag.
"Sure you did," Bolin said to his tutor in the mystic arts. He then heard a couple whispers coming out from the bag Xandu was carrying. "Did I hear something from your bag?"
Xandu was silent, before she gestured for Bolin to follow her. Bolin didn't debate, as he followed his teacher in basic magical arts, which he made good use of when he was facing the Equalists and Intergang. They entered an empty tent, and Xandu turned and faced him.
"To be honest, I was hoping you would not have heard that?" Xandu said.
"Why?" Bolin asked.
"Because now it has claimed you for a new sorcerer," Xandu opened the bag to show the golden Helmet of Fate.
"Gasp! Is that?... Is that Katara's helmet when she was... Dr. Fate?" Bolin stuttered as he was also a great supporter and fan of the Justice Society, despite all the negative criticism they had received.
"Nabu. That is the great spirit the helmet gives you access to. A Lord of Order. Now by fate, you must take the helmet," Xandu said, as she held up the helmet for Bolin to take it.
Bolin was a bit scared of grabbing hold of such an ancient and powerful artifact, but he was always the curious one to get himself into trouble or many other stuff. The earthbender reached out and touched the helmet, and he could hear the voices that all consisted of the great spirit that was the Lord of Order.
"All this power and knowledge... It's... Amazing!" Bolin exclaimed, as he then heard the voices speaking to him. "What? Go into training exile? But I could use your power to help stop the Revolution!"
Bolin argued with the helmet, but the helmet started glowing brighter as the light engulfed Bolin.
"No! Korra needs my help! I need to do something! Listen to me!" Bolin yelled out, but the light then vanished along with Bolin. Leaving Xandu alone in the tent.
"All for the greater good, my friend," Xandu said, as she then exited the tent.
Outside, the train coming in from the nearby neighboring city had stopped to remove any supplies it was carrying. Now anybody who wanted to leave were being put on the train, and Mako and Asami were one of them.
"Where's Bolin? We're about to leave," Asami said with worrisome.
"Ma'am the train is already waiting for any more passengers. You going or not?" the train worker said.
"But a friend is supposed to be with us," Asami explained.
Mako was already conscious now, but he was still wary from his influence from the Fear Toxin. He remembered seeing Lee admitting he was behind working with Intergang and the Equalists, but now he believes it was just all a part of the Fear Toxin's illusion. Mako looked up to Asami talking to the worker.
"Listen, buddy, we are not leaving without my brother," Mako spoke up.
"I am sorry, but this train is on a schedule," the worker said.
The worker was standing in front of an open entrance between carts of the train, and there was a green lantern lighting up with green flames inside.
"All aboard!" the train conductor yelled out from the front of the train.
"You coming or not?" the worker asked the two young adults. His answer was only silence. "Well, good luck here."
As the train was already making its leave through the tracks, the green lantern, with a mind of its own, swung itself off the hook it was hanging from, and landed on Mako's lap.
"What the?" Mako was spooked with the lantern falling onto him.
"Mako," a voice was heard from the lantern.
"Asami, did you hear that?" Mako asked.
"Hear what?" Asami asked in confusion.
"I am the Starheart. I am the source of power that once was wielded by the Green Lantern," the lantern spoke.
"What? Are you serious?" Mako asked in disbelief.
"Do not worry about your brother. He is safe, and he will return, along with the Helm of Nabu," the Starheart said.
"What do you want with me?" Mako got straight to another question he had, now that he knew his brother was safe.
"I require a new chosen one who may help me establish order and justice to this world. Become the new Green Lantern," the Starheart said to Mako.
"By the spirits... Why me?" Mako asked.
"All will be answered. We must make haste. There is an evil in the metropolis population area that will eventually break free from its current masters hold, and will terrorize everyone," the Starheart said, as it grew brighter, engulfing Mako into its fire light.
"Mako!" Asami yelled, as Mako was engulfed in the flames.
Soon, the fire dimmed down to show Mako completely fine and standing tall, in the same sort of attire greatly similar to the Golden Age hero, Green Lantern Sokka.
"Asami, I am fine. I...," Mako stopped to hear the Starheart's instructions. "I need to get to Republic City."
"I am going with you," Asami said.
"Asami, I don't think it will be safe," Mako replied with concern.
"I can handle myself," Asami convinced her boyfriend.
Asami then approached Mako and held onto him. Mako looking at her and then at the green ring that appeared along with the costume.
"Okay... Get us to Republic City. Fly," Mako commanded the ring. And the ring followed the users orders. The couple then launched up into the air, flying at a respectable high speed towards Republic City's direction.
Meanwhile...
At the arena, the crowd was gathering to see what Amon planned to present to the people. As the bystanders went to their seats, the Batman was setting at the top of the arena with Korra and Clar. All of them were looking down at the arena through a small opening.
"Where is Amon?" Korra asked eager to take him down.
"Patience. We'll be ready for him," Batman said, as he pulled out a radio speaker. "You are at positions with Black Lightning?"
"Yeah. We're ready when you are," Green Arrow's voice was heard.
"Copy that," Batman replied.
"Wait, I think the rally is about to start," Korra pointed out, as the stage showed Amon and a number of his Equalist lieutenants standing alongside him.
"My quest for equality began many years ago, when a fire-bender struck down my family and left me burned. My righteous path will bring equality to this world and a new era of peace," Amon spoke out to the audience.
"As I will also rid the world of Air-bending, forever," Amon's voice boomed, as the lift to the stage revealed Tenzin and his children tied up and gagged to posts. Korra and her teammates looked in fear and shock.
"How... How did he find them?" Korra asked out loud.
"I don't know," Clar said.
Amon was already making his approach towards the airbenders; his first victim, Tenzin.
"We have to go in now," Korra said.
"Not yet. I need confirmation with General Iroh's forces," Batman replied, as he still had his ear to the radio.
"He's going to destroy the Air Nation!" Korra stated.
"Wait for the green light to go," Batman said.
Amon reached towards Tenzin's head, which was glaring at Amon straight to his eyes.
"There will be no more chaos and conflict that led to your ancestors death," Amon placed his hand to Tenzin's forehead, but before he could get a full grip on the air-bender, he then heard a loud crashing sound.
Everyone in the arena looked up to see a figure surrounded by green flames, as he carried someone else. These two were Mako, the recent successor to Green Lantern Sokka, along with Asami.
"Those pamphlets weren't lying about this rally being a big deal," Asami commented.
"I am still having a hard time using this ring," Mako complained.
Korra and her two male comrades looked awe of the new Green Lantern.
"That's... that's Mako... he's... the Green Lantern," Korra said.
"But wasn't the Lantern lost?" Clar asked.
"It doesn't matter, he has become our cover for surprise attack," Batman stated.
Mako looked towards the stage and saw Amon standing in front of Tenzin and his children. At that moment, Mako couldn't wait and see what was going to happen, so he needed to act fast.
"Get away from them!" Mako yelled at Amon, as he aimed his left fist, which had the ring, and fired a bolt of green flames from the ring.
The flame made a direct hit on Amon, knocking him back to the rear of the stage, and the Equalists quickly retaliated, firing their weapons at Mako.
"Mako, I am not invulnerable!" Asami reminded Mako, just as Mako tried evading every shot fired at him.
"Evasive action, I know!" Mako replied, as he also returned fire.
Korra watched as her firebending companion, now the Green Lantern, was taking fire, she looked to the airbender family, who were still chained up and unable to get free.
"I am going to get them out of there. And you cannot stop me, bat guano," Korra said, mainly to Batman, turning around only to see that Batman wasn't there. Even Clar was surprised to notice Batman's absence.
"Where did he go?" Clar asked.
Korra looked back to the airbenders, to see the dark figure that was Batman, releasing the airbending children one at a time, using the chaos to his advantage of stealth.
"Oh that sneaky… jerk!" Korra cursed.
With Batman, he had already freed Meelo and Ikki, and was now working on getting Jinora out of her chains.
"Stay silent and stick right by me," Batman ordered the children, as he finally unchained Jinora, and then moved to Tenzin.
"Where is your wife?" Batman asked.
"In prison, with our newborn baby," Tenzin answered.
"We're getting you out of here," Batman said to Tenzin, as he freed Tenzin. "Let's go."
The airbenders followed Batman through the passage he came through. Meanwhile, with General Iroh and his second in command and Tenzin's brother,, Commander Bumi, were among the crowd.
"This battle is going to spook the audience. They'll be evacuated out before we could show them that Amon is a metahuman," Iroh stated.
"Then my brother and his…," Bumi noticed the airbenders were gone. "Damn it! They're gone!"
"We need to attack now. Take out Amon now," Iroh ordered.
"And the airbenders, sir?" Bumi asked, still trying to control his emotions for his concern of his brother and his family.
"Secondary objective, commander," Iroh said, as he then reached to his radio. "All units execute. Repeat executes."
The soldiers and police officers that were waiting for the orders, then revealed themselves and struck at Equalists, both inside and outside of the arena. Among them, Lin who was still a bit worried that the Equalists or Intergang may have captured or killed Jun, who was still missing.
"Officers, pursue and neutralize Equalists," Lin ordered, as she released her metal cables and lassoed around two Equalists and smacked them to a wall.
As other Equalists from different checkpoints received the call that the arena was under attack, they quickly made their move to assist their comrades. But the Batmobile came in charging into the first convoy, and neutralizing the Equalist transportation. Inside the armored vehicle, Green Arrow and Black Lightning were cased in.
"Alright, get the electro-cannon ready to fire," Green Arrow said, as he was driving.
"On it," Black Lightning replied, as he worked out the steps to get the turret ready, and then start firing the non-lethal shocks of lightning.
Back at the arena, Mako was still in evasive action from being shot down by the Equalists. It would be easier if he would have placed Asami somewhere safe.
"I can't keep going like this," Mako said to Asami.
"Just concentrate and try multitasking. Haven't you read anything about the Justice Society? Sokka used his imagination and concentration to use the ring," Asami informed Mako.
"No, I hardly read anything about the Society. I wasn't as interested as Bolin was," Mako replied, as aimed his fist and fired at an Equalist.
Clar and Korra on the other hand, had already gotten out of their hiding spots and moved up to the stage to neutralize the Equalists there, while they were still trying to shoot down Mako.. Clar using his strength to easily throw them off the stage, while Korra was also gifted with extra strength, she still preferred using her bending. Knocking the Equalists down, Korra took this time to call out to Mako.
"Mako! How did you get the Green Lantern ring?" Korra asked, as Mako landed.
"The Green Lantern lamp was on the train we were about to get out on. Then it just said it picked Mako," Asami answered for Mako.
"Wait, where's Bolin," Korra asked.
"The Lantern said that the Helmet of Nabu took Bolin," Mako said.
"The Helm of Nabu?!" Clar asked out loud, amazed at another Golden Age relic revealing itself.
"The Lantern also said that there was something going to rise up from Republic City. Something bad," Asami stated.
"What could it be?" Clar asked.
"We'll find out, but now, we need to get Amon," Korra brought everyone on track. As she ran to the back of the stage, where Amon was knocked back to. "He must have gone into the hallway!"
The other three followed the Avatar, trying to hunt down the mastermind of the Equalists. As Team Avatar searched for Amon, Batman had already led Tenzin and his children to an exit out of the arena.
"Take your children and get to safety. The United Forces should be coming here in less than two minutes," Batman said.
"I am not leaving without my wife and our baby," Tenzin said.
"I'll get them. You are a liability for the balance of the world. You must keep the Air Nation alive and safe," Batman explained to Tenzin. "Don't worry. I will get your wife and child."
With that, Batman was off to the holding area where Pemma and her baby were being held in. As the Batman was off to bust Pemma out of prison, Korra and her following companions were fighting their way through the Equalists that were in defensive positions in the hallway where Amon had ran through.
"Where could Amon run to now?" Clar asked out loud, as he carefully knocked an Equalist out cold without breaking anything vital.
"Don't know. But he's isn't getting away!" Korra shouted, as she rammed her way through the Equalists.
"Korra, wait! Don't go in by yourself!" Clar tried calling out to her, as he followed right behind her. While Mako was still having difficulties using his power granting ring.
"Give me a simple fire blast," Mako ordered. His ring launched only a single concussion blast, while there were still other Equalists to replace him.
"Mako! Try thinking big!" Asami shouted to Mako, as she electrocuted an Equalist with an electro-glove.
"Think big! Think big!" Mako said, as he then accidently imagined a life size jeep, and it running over the Equalists in front of him. "Okay… that went better than expected."
"Come on, Mako. We need to keep up with them," Asami said, as she followed Korra and Clar's trail.
"Why am I following your orders?" Mako asked out loud, as he did as his girlfriend said.
Korra and Clar found themselves at the end of the hall to only doorway to large room that connected to the docking bay of the arena. They both punched open the door, to see Amon already standing alone.
"It's over Amon. I don't see any chi-blockers," Korra said.
"The Equalists will be overturned by the United Forces. And we know who you are, Noatak," Clar used Amon's true name.
"I believe you. Hmm… I cannot let my master know my revolution was a total failure. So, I will destroy the Avatar now," Amon said, as he then reached to his mask to remove it and reveal his face; the skin rock texture with chalk colored, and his eyes yellow. "This was the face of the future ruler of this world."
"Sorry you feel like that, but the odds are two against one," Korra stated.
"Even with your bloodbending, this is a fight you cannot win," Clar said.
"I am counting on it…," Amon was interrupted by a gunshot sound. Clar, who heard it just in time to see the green piercer coming right at him, and he recalled the last time a green piercer did to him, so he quickly evaded it.
"Metallo," Clar seethed.
"Took me a while to find you, Superman," out from his hiding spot, appeared the armored clad mercenary. "But I knew you would show up eventually. Tracked you here, and found you here. Now, vigilante, you're coming with me."
"Who is that?" Korra asked.
"He's the one who shot me," Clar answered, as he stepped forward to face Metallo.
"Avatar Korra, you're have designated authority to keep order to the world. You can handle the terrorist. I have the vigilante breaking the law," Metallo said to Korra.
"No! Superman is one of the good guys!" Korra tried defending her best friend.
"Korra, we both have our fights. I'll be fine. You need to stop Amon," Clar said, as he looked back at Metallo.
Not giving Metallo any chance, Superman rushed at Metallo, crashing him through the wall to the outside.
"Kal!" Korra yelled, but she then barely avoided an incoming attack from Amon, who tried to pounce her.
"I will destroy you Avatar. I will take that as a victory for me," Amon said.
"What I don't understand is why get rid of Intergang already?" Korra stated a concern, as she was already in position to fight.
"Get rid of them? They backed out of the agreement, after Manheim was assassinated, which I had no part in," Amon stated, as Korra then charged at Amon. The two clashed in heated combat.
In the next room, Metallo elbowed Clar in the face to get space between himself and Superman. But Clar needed to stay close to Metallo, and keep Metallo from opening his armor's power source.
"You're getting a little close up," Metallo said, as he grabbed Superman's arms, that were pinning him to the wall, and swung him and smashed him to the wall. "I will beat so badly, you're crush wouldn't want you for anything."
"Who are you working for?!" Clar demanded an answer.
"It is an unwise for soldier to give vital information to the primary target," Metallo said, before Superman punched Metallo in the face, forcing him to stagger back.
"You're not coming after me out of the sake of the United Forces. You have a boss that is not the government. I am assuming he wants to know what I am," Clar deduced the possibility why he was being targeted.
Metallo aimed his wrist, firing green flames at Superman, but Superman more than alert of the firepower, quickly diverted Metallo's arm into another direction. Superman caught Metallo's next punch from his available arm, and then inhaled a whiff of air and blew strong force of air at the armored mercenary. Metallo was sent flying across the room.
"That is what I believe they want for you," Metallo replied to Superman, as he got back up. "And I am going to prove that I am now the true Superman."
"You can try. I am not going to be some lab rat!" Superman roared, as he and Metallo rushed at each other, but Superman gaining more momentum managed to push Metallo through the wall, where they both fell outside.
With Korra and Amon, they were both at the same heated battle on par with Superman and Metallo. Korra using her gifted strength from the golden harness she was currently wearing, was what gave her the even ground against Amon's natural strength. Amon was threw a kick at Korra's head, which Korra managed to block with her arm and retaliated with a forward kick to Amon. The kick enhanced with firebending, pushing the stone skinned man back a few feet.
Amon stood back in position and then decided to not play nice, and pulled out his trump card, bloodbending. He raised his hand toward Korra, and Korra felt her own body being taken control by Amon. She tried resisting the power, but Amon still kept his bloodbending grip on her.
"I will take your bending, and then I will take you to my master, and show him that my defeat still had its victory," Amon gloated, as he then pulled Korra closer to him.
"No!" Korra yelled, as she still struggled in trying to free herself from Amon's bloodbending.
The Avatar's shout was heard by the supreme hearing of the Kryptonian, still in the heated battle against Metallo.
"Korra!" Clar said, as he tried to run back inside to her, but Metallo quickly tackled him down.
"Where do you think you're going? I am not done with you!" Metallo said, as he grabbed one of Clar's arms and kept Clar restrained.
"Get off me!" Superman tried to shake Metallo's grip off of him, and then aimed his heat vision at Metallo's chest, which pushed Metallo off of him. "Korra!" Clar tried running to the arena, but once again, Metallo stopped, as he fired another meteorite piercer at Clar's left leg.
"ARRGH!" Clar yelled in pain, as he fell to the ground. Metallo stood back up, and then opened up his chest compartment to emit his power source on Superman.
"Nowhere to run, little runt," Metallo said.
Korra was on her knees, as Amon then shifted her head to face upward. Amon then placed his hand to Korra's forehead. But just that second time that day, Amon would be disturbed of purging someone's bending, as he was then smashed to the wall by a giant green fist.
"Just got here on the neck of time," Mako said, as Asami ran and helped Korra up.
"Are you alright? Do you still have your bending?" Asami asked.
Korra made a jabbing motion to burst out fire, but there was nothing.
"No," Korra said, as she then tried controlling the sweat on her, and to her short relief, she could see that she still had a little bit of her waterbending. "I… still have my waterbending."
Korra then worked at it with her airbending, only to see it fairly weak than what it is supposed to. She then tried to summon up the earth disks that were near by her, but she could not get them to left up.
"What… what did he do to me?" Korra asked out loud, as she looked at where Amon was. "What did you do to me?!"
The Avatar charged at Amon, then unleashing a flying kick, knocking him through the wall, and they were off in the next room. Korra did not let up, as she punched Amon repeatedly across the face. If Korra were to stop and think for a second, she still had her amazing strength that could dwarf the strength of an earthbender. Amon then managed to grab one of Korra's punches and throw her across the room.
Amon turned around to see Mako already about to release another fiery green bolt or construct, but Amon quickly reacted by simply raising his hand and used bloodbending on Mako to throw him off to the side.
"Wow!" Mako yelled as he was thrown and crashed against the wall.
However, Amon didn't have the time to react to Korra kicking Amon to the wall, and pinning him against the wall and raining punches across Amon's rocky face. Despite his dense skin, Amon was feeling these strong punches good, and if didn't do something fast, he was going to be taken down by the raging Avatar amazon.
Amon grabbed one of Korra's punches and swung her to the wall, slamming her, and returned punches to her. The metahuman bloodbender then threw Korra across the room to the opposite wall, crashing, and Korra fell to the floor. Amon then raised his hand out to control Korra with his bloodbending, and held her up and smashed her to the floor.
"I don't know how you still have your strength. It must be that armor of that old golden age hero. Nevertheless, I am still going to finish you," Amon said.
"You won't win!" Korra growled.
"Of course I will," Amon responded, as he smashed her to the ground.
It was only that one second, that Amon's bloodbending grip was off of Korra, and this was Korra's chance to attack. Korra pulled out the Golden Lasso and threw it around Amon and tightened it.
"Down!" Korra ordered Amon. Amon could not defy the power of the Lasso of Truth, and did as Korra commanded. "How do you reverse what you did to me? HOW!"
"There is no reversible. Your bending has been handicapped," Amon stated.
"I still have a connection with my waterbending and airbending. And if I still showed strength to beat you, I must still have link with my earthbending," Korra stated out what she knew was there for her, as she then calmed down.
"This is not over, Avatar Korra. In fact. It is just beginning of the end," Amon stated.
"What are you talking about?" Korra asked.
"I merely taking a stand against you was just a distraction of another objective I had. I have a weapon that will be used to destroy the United Republic, then reaching out like dominos, the rest of the nations. And a new order will rise. That is the order of the Head of the Demon. The great Ra's Al Ghul," Amon answered Korra's question to great detail, due to the Lasso of Truth forcing him to speak.
"How are you going to destroy the United Republic?" Korra demanded an answer, as she tightened the grip on the Lasso.
"Sylung Grundy. He's not as much of a global threat as he was in the Golden Age, but that will change, as I already have loyalists to the Equalist cause, whom believe that Sylung Grundy will merely destroy all benders only. My master has given me a serum portion of his atrophied Lazarus Pit is what will trigger Grundy to go back the form he once was," Amon explained the plan, as Korra, Mako and Asami listened to this new terrible news.
"Where is Solomon Grundy?" Korra asked.
"In Suicide Slums in the closed down Sato Industry factory," Amon answered.
Korra then knocked Amon unconscious with a single punch, and quickly looked towards the opening where Superman and Metallo broke out through.
"I need to help Superman. Then we stop Sylung Grundy," Korra said, as she ran out.
"Asami, I think it's best you set this one out. Now I know about Solomon Grundy, and he's too dangerous for me take you with. Stay here. Please," Mako said to Asami.
"Okay, Mako," Asami kissed Mako. "Please be careful."
"I will," Mako said, as he followed Korra outside, while Asami still stood right near where Amon was still tied up by the Lasso of Truth.
Once outside, Korra could see the massive struggle between Clar and Metallo; Superman being held up by the throat by Metallo, trying to pry out of his grip, but Metallo had already opened his power source to weaken Clar.
"A shame I don't kill you now, but orders are orders. We're going to find out what you are made out of," Metallo said.
"No, you won't," Clar said, as he mustered up as much power he left, even under the exposure of the meteor rock, and his eyes fired at the center of the meteor rock and forcing it to shatter to pieces.
"NO!" Metallo yelled, as he lost all of the meteor rocks power. Clar then grabbed Metallo by the throat and carried him up into the air.
"You threatened to capture me and turn me into a lab rat. To be experimented on like some freak," Clar said, as he held Metallo at his mercy.
"Superman, we have a problem," Korra said as she approached him, knowing that he now had the situation under control.
"Avatar Korra, this vigilante is going to kill me," Metallo called out to Korra for help.
"I am not going to kill you," Clar stated, as he then made Corin look him in the eyes. "You tell your boss that I am a free man, just like any man on this Earth. If he still has plans to take me down, I will be waiting."
Clar then dropped Corin to the ground, with a clunking sound from the armor he was still wearing. Superman turned towards Korra.
"What's the problem," Clar asked.
"Amon has told us that he plans to destroy the Four Nations by unleashing Solomon Grundy's full potential, back when he fought the Justice Society," Korra explained to Clar.
"Then let's go stop him," Clar said, as he saw Mako already approaching them.
"We can get there faster we fly there. I can give you guys a lift," Mako said.
"What I wouldn't give to fly on my own," Korra commented.
"So would I," Clar concurred.
Inside, where Amon was still restrained with Asami keeping him guard, Asami heard someone to enter the room. Asami prepared herself if they were any Equalists, but to her relief it wasn't an Equalist, instead it was to her surprise, it was the Batman. The Batman had already freed Pema and her baby and had given them to the United Forces custody.
"Amon has already been neutralized," Batman said out loud, as he saw Amon tied up by the Lasso of Truth.
"There is still more trouble. Amon is planning to use Sylung Grundy to destroy the United Republic. Avatar Korra is already outside with Superman and Ma… er I mean, Green Lantern," Asami stated the situation quickly, as this was grave big news. Batman then exited through the opening in the wall, to see Mako just about to take off to the air with Superman and Korra.
"Wait," Batman called out, making them stop and turn to see him.
"Batman, Sylung…," Korra was about to inform Batman but was interrupted by him.
"I know what is to happen, Ms. Sato told me. We cannot go in there without a plan," Batman explained.
"So what's the plan?" Clar asked.
Meanwhile…
Out in the outskirts of Republic City, there was an air base that was under the command of the Equalists, and they had just received word that the arena had just been attacked by United Forces and Police Resistance. This also meant that only a matter of time until the major strike force of the United Forces will be marching into Republic City to push out the Equalists there. Among these Equalists in the air base, were the specialized pilots, the Blackhawks, and Slade Wukong, Deathstroke.
"Alright, my brothers and sisters, listen up. The United Forces have made their attack. Now it is our time to counterattack now," the Equalist commander stated.
"Yes sir!" The Equalists all then ran to their positions.
"Where is Deathstroke?" the commander asked his lieutenant.
"I… I don't know. I saw him a few minutes ago," the lieutenant answered.
As the Equalists were just about to entering the buildings that stored the planes, they opened the large doors, only for the entire building to explode, killing anyone that was anywhere close to the building. The same process went with the other buildings, as the Equalists then all quickly scattered in the chaos. Exiting from his hiding place, Deathstroke revealed himself as he was prepped to kill any of the Equalists that were left out.
"Time to make my clients very happy," Slade said, as he walked into the fray.
Meanwhile…
The heroes were just about to nearing the abandoned Sato Factory in the Suicide Slums, and they were all prepared with the plan Batman and them all have come up with.
"We all have our parts. We keep to them. No matter what," Batman stated.
"Got it," all of the other three acknowledged their positions in the plan.
Mako then dropped Batman off on the ground about two blocks away from the factory, so they avoid being sighted by the Equalists.
"Remember. I'll be going in to sabotage the Equalist defense and find the Lazarus formula and keep it away from Grundy," Batman stated out the review of the plan,
"How well you tell what the formula is?" Korra asked.
"I have had my experience with Ra's Al Ghul. I'll know it when I see," Batman answered.
"Let's go," Clar said.
Mako had his part in this plan of stopping Sylung Grundy from reaching his full and former power. The new wielder of the Green Lantern, flew closer to the air space of the factory. His job was to search for any escape routes the Equalists could use to get Grundy out or themselves out.
"Okay. Search for any tunnels that are within a three blocks in radius from the factory," Mako said to himself as a reminder to himself.
Mako flew down and checked any place where a tunnel would be hidden, and sure enough, he found his first one.
"Time to go," Mako said, as he aimed his ring and created a giant dragon and forced the entrance of the tunnel to cave in. "Let's go look for more."
With Korra and Clar, it was their job to search for Sylung Grundy inside the factory, as it was Batman's job to look for the Lazarus formula. They could already see in the outside of the factory there was a large amount of Equalists already on guard, since they got word about the arena being overrun by the United Forces.
"This is going to be a lot harder than I thought," Korra commented.
"On what part? Getting in without alerting them to get the formula to Grundy, or just going on a full scale attack?" Clar asked.
"If you put it that way…," Korra paused.
"This is Batman. The security is tight in the factory. No way any of you will get in without getting spotted. Wait for my word," Batman's voice was heard through the radio.
"Roger that," Clar replied.
"That's just great," Korra complained.
"Calm down-," Clar tried to tell Korra.
"Clar I am a little freaked out. Amon… he tried to take my bending, but… it's like he crippled my bending," Korra said.
"What?" Clar asked in disbelief.
"I don't know. I still have the strength granted to me by this harness with the Wonder Woman armor, but my bending to the elements are… lacking in power" Korra explained.
"Don't worry, Korra. I am sure they are just adjusting from a close encounter to a bloodbender," Clar assured his best friend.
"Listen to me, I am complaining about myself, and we are in a mission that if we fail, the Four Nations will be destroyed," Korra said.
"You're not acting selfish, Korra. We'll win this. I promise you," Clar replied.
Inside the warehouse, Batman was passing through unnoticed, trying to find read any activity with the Equalists where he can locate the Lazarus formula. Batman already could see Grundy at the center of the warehouse portion of the factory, as he remained still as Hiroshi Sato was instructing Equalists to place needle tubes to Grundy.
"Make sure they are directly injected to his veins and arteries," Hiroshi ordered the Equalists.
"Yes, Mister Sato," the Equalist replied.
"They are planning to inject the Lazarus into Grundy through those tubes. I need to get to the source of where the tubes are connected to," Batman thought to himself.
The Batman managed to travel through the factory without being seen, and following the tubes to the source, which he led to another room. Traveling through the vents, Batman found the room where the tubes were connected to, and he could see a tank of a substance liquid that filled up the entire tank, where the tubes were all connected to.
Batman silently got out of the ventilation shaft, and scanned the room to look for any Equalists in the room. It was filled with guards, which was going to be a problem if he wanted cut off the channel of the Lazarus Pit to Grundy.
"This is Batman. The Lazarus is cut off from Grundy. Take him out. Now," Batman said to the radio.
From inside the factory, the Equalists would be taken by massive surprise attack by Superman smashed through the walls charging in.
"Superman!" an Eqaulist chi-blocker said, as he armed himself with a piercer gun.
Right on cue, Korra, revealing her Wonder Woman armor, broke in through the roof's ceiling window, and landing on top of a truck, looking down upon the Equalists.
"And Wonder Woman," Korra reminded them all with pride.
This new team up of Superman and the newly named Wonder Woman, all plowed their way through any Equalist guards that tried to stop them. The two power pair were running towards a still dormant Grundy.
"Damn! Grundy, wake up now!" Sato cursed, as he then pressed on charge, and electricity shocked Grundy.
"Grrrraar!" Grundy growled as he awoke, and saw Superman and Wonder Woman.
"Grundy, destroy them!" Sato ordered, only for Grundy to carelessly almost stomp on Hiroshi.
"Grundy quash little maggots," Grundy growled.
"This is not going to be like the last time," Superman stated, as he leaped up to the air and dived down to crash against Grundy.
Korra rushed at Grundy, using her granted strength, she kicked Grundy down to his knees.
Mako, who had finally destroyed any at all escape route exits, and flew in to the factory to see the massive zombie battling Clar and Korra.
"Is this the threat the Starheart was talking about," Mako asked out loud, as he then joined in the fight, firing a blast Grundy, who only seemed to be annoyed by it.
"Grundy squash green light bug," Grundy growled.
"Why didn't work as it is supposed to," Mako asked out loud.
"Grundy has wooden properties in his body. Your rings powers cannot affect wood," Korra called out, as she stepped back from Grundy's smashing hits.
"Didn't you know that?" Clar asked, he dodged an incoming hit from Grundy.
"I hardly paid attention to the history of the Justice Society! Alright," Mako explained with annoyance.
The battle raged on between Grundy and the three new wonders, as Batman was finishing up with disposing of the Lazarus formula by mixing up a chemical compound, he knew that would make the Lazarus become useless in terms of affecting anything with its unique properties. As he was destroying the Lazarus, Batman felt the shaking.
"They are already battling Grundy. It should only be a matter of time until the United Forces may finally arrive and help. But that maybe too late," Batman commented, as he then exited the room to see what he could do to help his current teammates.
Meanwhile…
The arena and along with numerous amounts of city blocks had already been taken back under the control of the newly arriving United Forces. Lin Bei Fong was among the commanding officers that had set up command in the arena.
The Chief of Police was also in the meeting with General Iroh and the newly arrived General Loin, as they had placed a mapped lay out of the city.
"We already have troops pushing forward to center of the city. The capital should be under our control in within a few hours," Loin predicted.
"These mecha-tanks of our own are acting as the perfect counter measure against the Equalists mecha-tanks. What about the aircraft?" Iroh asked.
"I already have troops moving through the mountain grotto. They have already neutralized an air base belonging to the Equalists," Loin replied.
"Then we should be able to have the entire city limit within our control by the end of the day," Lin stated.
"Agreed," Loin said.
"Then that settles it," Lin said, as she turned walked away.
"Where are you going?" Iroh asked.
"I am going to help my officers take back this city," Lin answered, as she exited the room, and eventually exited the arena. When Lin exited the arena, she felt a hand grab her shoulder from behind. Lin turned around to see Jun.
"Jun! Where the hell have you been?" Lin asked.
"I am sorry, Lin. There was something I was on to that really called upon my attention," Jun said.
"What was it?" Lin asked.
"You must come with me and see," Jun answered.
"What is it?" Lin asked again.
"Just come with me and see," Jun said again.
Lin could not tell if Jun was telling the truth through her seismic senses, but never so far has she doubted Jun before, so she followed him.
Jun leading Lin into an already controlled part of the city, he led her into a building and into the lower level.
"I can feel through my feet. There isn't anything here," Lin said.
"Just and wait and see. This is important," Jun kept reminding her.
"Lieutenant, you will tell me what you are leading me to is," Lin then ordered for Jun to answer her. Jun then stopped without facing Lin face to face.
"To the place to be defiled," Jun said, as he then turned around look at Lin, but he was then grinning with menacing gesture on his face.
This man, who looked like Jun, grabbed Lin by the throat and then pinned her against the wall that was in the basement level. This attack took Lin by surprise, but she quickly reacted by whipping out her metal cables to strike this Jun impersonator. The cables managed to knock Jun's face back, only for the face to reform from the injury.
"Hehehehe. I think I am starting to see what my brother sees in you. So much passion and fury," this menacing regenerator commented.
"What the hell are you?!" Lin demanded an answer.
"I am Malefak, and I am going to enjoy this more than you are," Malefak said, as he then reached, with his other arm, to Lin's chest armor.
"Keep your filthy hands off of me!" Lin growled, as she then launched a boulder of earth at Malefak from the side, only for Malefak to smash the boulder.
"You're going to be punished for that, dirty female ape," Malefak then smacked Lin across the face.
Malefak's strength was enough to force Lin spit out blood from her mouth. Lin still had no intention to give in that easily. Lin ejected out metal blades, and tried cutting Malefak's arm, but only Malefak to laugh at Lin's resistance. Malefak then proceeded to then tear Lin's upper armor off to reveal her undershirt.
"Hmm… not so different anatomy between my kinds' females and you apes," Malefak commented.
Lin again tried to summon up earth in her surroundings, only for Malefak to quickly jab a pressure point, blocking her chi and ability to bend.
"That's enough from you," Malefak said, as he then started laughing and reached and grasped Lin's breast.
"NOO!" Lin roared, still hitting Malefak as hard as she could.
As such a filthy crime was being executed, in the upper atmosphere of the Earth, the green humanoid figure that was the true Jun, floated as he had his hands pressing against his head, and his eyes shut tight. His mind was reaching out to anything that could bring him back to reality and allow him to escape the nightmare he was in. The nightmare was of death by flames.
Jun listened to several thoughts of the people on the Earth, and he kept listening until he came across a person he knew. A person he had become very fond of. This person was in deep distress, and she needed saving.
"Lin," Jun said, as he opened his wide open.
Jun dove down back to the surface of the Earth, and was headed to Lin's distress call. Crashing through the roof that was in his way, until he finally arrived, seeing his psychotic brother attempting to defile Lin.
"MALEFAK!" Jun roared with rage, as he tackled Malefak.
Lin landed to the floor, and laid her back to the wall to keep her eyes on her attempted rapist and her mystery savior. What she saw were two green bipedal creatures battling each other, and it also looked, as if they were changing form. Now they had just transformed to forms that made them look very similar to humans this time, but she could see the difference between these two shape changers. One was in attire that could actually pull of as some sort of uniform in blue and red, while the other one was wearing a black cloak.
The two humanoids were speaking out some sort of dialect that Lin had no idea what it meant. The one in blue must be the one that came to Lin's rescue, as it was calling to the other one, 'Malefak.' Now it was punching Malefak multiple times across the face and then forming its hand around Malefak's neck and knocked him down to the floor. Jun ground and pounded Malefak and was laying hell upon him, but Jun then stopped as he then glared his eyes into Malefak's.
"You dare come to this world and commit crime. You dare to make people suffer for your own disgusting pleasure. YOU DARE!" Jun roared, but in his native language, since Lin still could not understand what he was saying.
"Yes. Because this is what my lord and savior asks his followers to do in his name," Malefak said.
"I will end you," Jun seethed.
"Someday brother, but not today," Malefak said, as he then sunk into the ground disappearing.
"No!" Jun shouted, as he reached in for Malefak, also phasing through the solid ground. Jun was rushing through the solid ground, trying to find Malefak.
Lin was still breathing deeply for air, after what she had just experienced and witnessed.
"What… the hell… were those…," Lin asked out loud.
Meanwhile…
Sylung Grundy was still battling the three wonders, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. Mako was resorting to throwing heavy objects at Grundy, Superman was grabbing hold of Grundy from the front and punching him in the face, and Korra had grabbed some loose heavy chains to use to pull down Grundy from behind.
"Is the plan just to knock Grundy out cold?" Clar asked.
"Sounds like a plan," Korra growled, as she tried pulling the chains to pull Grundy down.
"Korra, over here," Batman called out.
Korra turned around and saw Batman was working on an electrical generator that was lighting up with a lot more electricity than what it was supposed to.
"This transformer is connected to the power grid. I tempered with it overflowing with power. Get the chains connected to these outputs and all this power will knock Grundy out cold," Batman said.
"Rrrggh! I can't pull him any closer," Korra responded.
"Hold on!" Batman called out, as he aimed his grappling hook gun.
However, Grundy grabbed Clar and slammed him to the floor, but Mako quickly moved in and fired a wave of green fiery energy at Grundy with just enough force to push Grundy back.
"Grra!" Grundy roared.
Clar looked up and aimed his vision on Grundy and fired his flame vision on Grundy, helping Mako push Grundy back to help Korra get the chains closer to the transformer. Batman launched the grapple hook to the chain Korra was holding onto.
"Let go, now," Batman said, as he then connected the grapple line to a rod of the transformer. Then Batman pulled the lever to the transformer, and all the electrical power surged into Grundy.
"RAAAAARRRRRGGGH!" Grundy roared in agonizing pain, as the entire power grid was surging through him. The giant zombie then started go into flames from the electrical power overflowing through him.
"Uh-oh. Get to cover," Korra predicted what was going to happen next.
"Mako, make a shield," Clar said.
"Stop giving me orders! I am not like some little creature with magical abilities that follows orders of its master," Mako replied with annoyance, as he still created a green shield for his partners in crime fighting.
Grundy was bloating and overflowing, until his body then exploded. All of the zombies remain blowing to different directions, which the four heroes were safe from being hit by under Mako's shield.
"And boom goes the dynamite," Clar commented.
"Our work here is done," Batman said.
"What, that's it?" Mako asked.
"Amon is already under United Forces' custody, I have already destroyed the artificial Lazarus, and Grundy has been neutralized. It will only be just moments until the United Forces will be coming after us masks," Batman said.
"Wait, but we just saved Republic City. You all helped. I am the Avatar. I can talk them down," Korra tried reasoning with him.
"It won't work. Just like the other events that happened after the Justice Society was disbanded, the governments still did not give in," Batman explained.
"But-," Korra attempted to speak, but was interrupted by Clar.
"Korra, we'll be fine. Don't worry," Clar said.
Korra did not like this one bit. How could the governments not even accept the heroes help, and not deem them as criminals. They heard armored tanks and vehicles moving in from the outside of the factory.
"We have to go," Batman said, as he then walked away into the shadows.
"I guess I can fly a few blocks from here and remove this ring. They won't suspect me to be the Green Lantern," Mako said, as he went to another direction.
All who was left was Korra and Clar. The two heroes looked at each other.
"Guess I'll… be seeing you later," Clar said.
"I hate this. I hate how you are to still be treated like a criminal," Korra stated.
"We just need to hold out. Someday, there will be a change. We can hope," Clar replied, as he placed his hands to Korra's arms looking into her eyes.
"This is the United Forces! Come out with your hands over your heads, or we will raid the building!" the officer's booming voice was heard.
"I have to go," Clar said.
"Wait," Korra stopped Clar, and grabbed his head and pulled him close to her face and kissed him. She then let him go and said, "I'll be seeing you."
Clar smiled and nodded, before he ran up to the roof to make his escape, as the United Forces broke into the factory. Korra nonchalantly placed her hands up into the air and turned around to show the soldiers that she was the Avatar.
