Chapter 10: Instinctual Massacre
I allowed the fire around my feet to burn just a bit brighter before I shot it out at the Exorcists.
Hitting them all in the chests, it served the purpose of knocking them back.
In the moment it took to shove them back I slid my ring off and shoved it into my pocket.
Power surged through me. More than I had allowed in a long while, and the sheer intoxication of it made my cocky smile widen.
Blue flame moved through my veins and to my finger tips, forming a long two handed katanna.
Holding it with one hand, I met the first attacker head on.
A mid level exorcist, we started our little bout without him losing right of the bat.
The knight set his blade forward to impale me through the heart, which I easily countered with the flat of my blade.
In all actuality, my blade should have shattered, allowing his to continue on it's path to killing me. Also, if not shattering, it should have skidded off and still hit me - even if it was in a different spot than it was aimed to hit.
My sword however, was a piece of my power, and as soon as his sword's tip met mine I allowed my katana to soften into fire for just a fraction of a second. It once again hardened around his piece of crap blade, and was stuck.
With a twist of my wrist, he was disarmed and headless.
His blade clanked to the ground as my flickered to flame for a second.
The other exorcists had paused for just a second as they watched a crimson puddle form under their comrade grow.
"What? No speculations?" I taunted, swinging my sword up to land on my shoulder.
I turn to look for my once brothers eyes in the crowd of exorcists.
Instead, I see the hate-filled eyes of my once friends.
Bon, Shima, Konekomeru, - Izumo. She was there as well.
I let out a shrill, empty laugh when I realized my friends had come to kill me.
Could I blame them? I mean I killed Shiemi.
Who wouldn't be mad about something like that, she was their -
MY friend -
My eyes widened.
She was not my friend. She was on the other side of the war.
The right -
Wrong... Side
My smile faulted as images shot through my mind.
Shiemi smiling, playing, dancing.
He saw Shiemi that first day she had come to the cram school, after we had defeated the demon in her garden.
She had smiled warmly, and he could practically see her eyes transform into hearts.
I was vaguely aware of the sword that had pierced me through the center, and the other small wounds and sword tips pointing in my flesh.
Words, muffled and in a different world seemingly altogether - seemed to only slight bleed through my pang of old memories.
" - Under arrest."
- "Rin!"
" - for the murder"
" Don't be silly Rin!"
"Of many, many exorcists "
"Hey! Rin!"
"And will be executed on the spot."
I won't die. This pang had left me helpless, as I'm forced by some force to relive a mix of memories, good and bad - all involving the young exwire he had murdered.
I feared this would happen, a pang in the middle of a battle. I knew it would. because, deep inside, it was myself forcing me to see these meories that felt like a lifetime away.
focusing on the pain of the sword in my gut, i allowed it overwhelm me and cut off all conscious power I had over my mind. This was the only way. I needed to fight with pure instinct.
Before my mind went under, I caught the eyes of Izumo - plum, red and filled with pure anguish and hatred.
3rd POV
The exorcists holding down the demon were suddenly knocked back as a wall of pure blue fire rose up around him. Their weapons grew hot, and were forced from their grips as Rin snarled from his place in the center of the fire.
with nothing more that a grimace, he removed the sword from his stomach and allowed it to liquify in his hot touch.
His tail lashed furiously, blue fire licking it greedily - and his eyes glowed a unhuman blue - so much more far gone than before. His tounge flicked over his teeth, ravenous.
His back arched behind him, and with a hiss, his wounds sizzled close and his wings ripped from his back.
He looked over at the exorcists, and smiled.
He stood, and without blinking, about three dozen swords - all identical and double edged - appeared in front of him, behind him, and to the side of him.
The exorcists were quickly on their feet, pulling new weapons if they had them and preparing for the battle to come.
Rin sighed - and with a flick of his wrist, half the swords shot forward impaling a number of the men come to stop him.
Some of the exorcists had managed to dodge the swords, receiving minor scratches and cuts.
The exwires were more exposed now, Their weapons at the ready.
one of the conditions of allowing them to come on this expedition was they would stay in the back, even though Izumo had pushed forward to were she could see Rin.
She had her resolve, she just wanted to see how much he had really changed.
For a moment, he had been almost helpless, as if reliving a memory, simply day dreaming.
He didn't flinch when they slid a sword into his stomach, and didn't seem to react to their speech - at least until they got to the part about being executed.
It almost seemed as if he allowed the pain to consume him and give him the power to allow him to live.
He seemed emotionless now, emotionless except for that sick glee he had when he saw the faces of the exorcists against all the swords he seemed to conjure from pure flame.
He seemed to be nothing but pure darkness, and it made her fill with sorrow and anger at how easily he had given into every little whisper, need and suggestion the darkness and demons had passed to him.
And now, now he was going to kill her.
He could see it plainly on his face. No recognition of her, or any of the exwires. Not hate, not friendship - just nothingness. like they were the other faceless exorcists sent on this mission.
She wondered why the hell they even sent out to do this. They knew he was powerful. He had to be stopped, yes, but they, the cram school, weren't even full on exorcists. They seemed so ready to be on this mission, but did they really expect to win?
She looked back, for just a millisecond at the others, their faces set - and wondered, if they came to see if Rin had completely gone like she had.
She wondered if they felt the same anguish as her. the hate.
And she wondered, wondered - if Rin even realized what he has doing when he clipped her in the temple, sending her world into a spinning black nothingness.
In the second it took for Izumo to fall to the ground, the remainder of Rin's swords went out and struck the other exorcists, impaling vital organs, throats - and painting the street red.
Rin POV
I came back in control of my body mere seconds before lunging at Izumo.
I had received an order.
Changing my action from a killing strike to a simple knock to the head I smiled as she fell over.
I took a moment to quickly dispatch the rest of the exorcists. I pushed away of the thought of how easy it was getting for me to kill these soldiers. It was like they were fly's without wings, wriggling around on a window sill, simply waiting for him to kill them.
"You'll pay for this!" Bon shout out suddenly - realizing he and the other cram school students, along with Yukio were the only ones left on this bridge.
I felt the power drain from me slightly as I pushed away the instinct to kill them - denying it it's feeding. I know it drained from my eyes.
"It's nice to see you too," I say, as if we had simply bumped to each other on this bridge.
I stretched out my wings behind me, and I raised my arms into the air - stretching them as well.
I gave them all my best cat yawn before tucking my wings behind my back, and my hands behind my head, as if just awakening for a nap.
I could see the anger boiling in all their eyes, and I sighed. I decided to get right to the point, skipping all the pleasantries.
"Your lucky I didn't come looking for you - or you probably would be dead right about now. Have to keep my kingdom clean of scum, yanno."
"Your kingdom~?" Yukio said, miffed.
"Riight, I mean the demons didn't get the memo, so I guess why would the exorcists get one. I'm the new king of Assiah." I gave a goofy smile, as if I was taking a picture with a best friend.
They didn't say anything, and just stared.
"Anyway, I don't have to kill you, isn't that great! I mean, I liked it when we were friend and all -"
"But you had to kill Shiemi?"
I eyed Bon, and sighed. "Well, strictly speaking, I wasn't quite myself - but, yeah. I guess I did. Coronation and all."
I could see it in his eyes - boiling anger. I smiled.
"Well, I don't have to kill you, so i'm leaving before the order for you to be kept alive is retracted." I said, stretching my wings out - prepping them for flight.
"You don't have to kill us, but we have to kill you... I'm sorry. you've killed to many of us -"
"You say us, but you forget that they are exorcists, and you are simply in training"
I waved them off. "See ya around."
A bullet whizzed past my ear. I was shocked to see the end of Yukio's gun smoking. "Not just gonna let me go, are you? Fine."
I spread out my wings and rushed into the sky, then dived at them, quickly placing the back of my boot to the temple of Yukio's head. I quickly followed up with a kick to Bon's temple. (Using, of course, the front of my boot,) Forming two daggers, blunt, thank you, and shot them at Shnima and Konekomeru - who had stared angrily at me the whole time, but not really saying much.
I eyed the boy with the puppets. I hadn't known him well, but in turn I knew he was stronger than an exwire.
Quickly, I knocked him out as well.
"Rin..." Kuro cried out from below him on the bridge, and I simply forgot how the Cat Sith had been there, watching me at my best.
"I'm pretty good, arent I?" I said, floating down to him. I could see the fear in his eyes, and sighed. I placed my hand - tentatively - on his head. "I'm sorry, please, just sleep." I hit a place I knew would instantly calm him. "I'm afraid i'm not the same Rin you used to know. I would love it, however, if you accepted me for me." The cat looked up at him with sad, tired eyes. He silently jumped on Rins shoulder, sulking with his head between his paws.
I sighed at the blood, but smiled.
I admired how powerful I had become, how fast and how simply awesome I seemed to be. With a chuckle, I left the dead, and the unconscious alike on the bridge.
I felt nothing.
3rd POV
Not long after the King of Assiah had left the scene of his massacre, couple demons looked down on the pile of bodies. It wouldn't be long before the Vatican sent a clean up crew.
"Satan wants the ones closest to him." one said, flipping through the unconscious ones, not blinking at the dead.
"That'd be this one... plus.. that one," he said pointing to Yukio, then Izumo. The two demons picked them up.
"Were so close to the world we want, arent we?" The first one said, looking down at the puddles and puddles of blood.
"The newest king likes his world bloody, I guess."
"I think we all like it like that - and hopefully, that will be our world. there will be nothing they can do - it will be the end. the end of Assiah, and Gahenna."
The other snickered. "And the birth of a new, combined world."
Please Review, make me hapy. Unless flame. Then make me sad. Ja ne!
