Chapter 13

So I finally finished my other story even though I'm not too fond of the epilogue. Oh, well I can fix it whenever I get the chance but for now since this is my most popular story and one that I mostly have a set ending for I will be working on this one~! Yay for all the people who read this!

Apocalypse Begin

"There's an angel out there isn't there! I told you Michael wasn't happy with me. If that angel lets him know where I am…"

Dean looked a little sheepish before his expression cleared. "It's just Cas. He won't tell." And with that he crossed out the angel warding mark on the door with a red marker he pulled out of his jacket and swung the door open.

Harry hissed again and dove back into his blankets, burrowing in.

Castiel walked in and eyed the mass of blankets suspiciously.

"I take it you got our message," Sam said standing to greet the angel.

"It's lucky you found the boy."

"Oh, yeah real lucky," Dean muttered. "What do we do with him?"

"Kill him."

Once again there was an explosion of blankets but this time Harry was more like a homing missile. Cas was easily knocked to the floor.

"That boy is innocent until proven guilty," the wizard hissed. "Just because he was born a cambion does not mean that we should eradicate his existence!" Cas was surprised and just a tad bit afraid. He didn't struggle within the smaller angels grasp but he did shift uncomfortably. Harry continued staring straight into the beautiful blue that was his baby brother's eyes as he spoke. "Cambions are born of humans and demons or humans and angels. Most are shunned and therefore turn rogue and become a threat to society that is when they are killed! NOT when they are still children that can be influenced…"

"So Jesse isn't the devil's son," Sam asked hesitantly, not sure if he should help Cas or leave him to the Pastor on the floor.

Dean had no such qualms and after he tossed his tie on the table he hauled Harry off the frazzled angel and rewrapped him in his blankets. "If Jesse is a demonic howitzer, then what the hell is he doing in Nebraska?"

Cas slowly pulled himself off the ground ignoring the hunter's question for now. "Michael is looking for you."

"And he's going to keep looking." Harry's eyes were as cold as his voice as he glared out of his nest, only his face showing.

"…Yes."

"Good. I don't even have my grace right now anyways so even if you told him where to find me I would just run away and then he would lose me again."

Castiel's wings shifted agitatedly but he nodded and turned to finally answer Dean's question.

"The demons lost him. They're trying to find him again," the angel said glancing at the pile of blankets in the room.

"And they lost him because?"

"His powers hide him from most every supernatural being, angels and demons included," Harry piped in helpfully.

"So he's got like some force field around him like a shield? Great! Problem solved we can just leave him alone."

"With Lucifer," Harry shivered so violently the whole blanket pile moved, "risen, this child grows strong." That hollow look, that Harry hadn't even noticed the absence of, was back again. The pastor didn't like it. "Soon, he will do more than just make a few toys come to life-something which will attract the demons to him. The demons will find this child. Lucifer will twist this boy to his purpose. And then, with a word, this child will destroy the Host of Heaven."

Harry pursed his lips at the mention of Lucifer hurting any child. He had shown his mate how precious their innocence was… Fine. If Castiel was so insistent upon killing the boy then Harry was even more insistent in protecting him. He still had his magic anyway considering that magic was channeled through the soul. (That's why Black Magic corrupted people…)

"Wait," Sam said standing. "We're the good guys. We- we don't just- kill children."

"Sam is right. I stand against you in this. If you try to kill the boy, Castiel, you will never find him again."

The angel glanced at Harry gauging the truth in his words. Finding conviction there he tried to reason with him but Harry cut him off, "I don't want to hear it." He shifted in his blankets and shivered again. "I taught Lucifer that children were precious. IF he were to do such a horrible act then I would most definitely stand against him."

That last comment earned a sharp glance from Sam. So he had heard then? It was the first clue he had given to the Winchester's that he was not against the devil. He may, in fact, even side with him. Just not against the humans…

"I'm sorry."

And then the angel was gone and Harry shot up with a curse. He tripped on a blanket and fell flat on his face.

"Harry!"

Harry grunted, pulling himself off the ground. Ignoring his bleeding nose he turned to the Winchesters with a deadly serious gleam in his eyes. "Where is Jesse?"

The front door was kicked down and Dean and Sam asked about Cas. Harry just gazed at the small action figure on the floor in shock. In all his plastic glory, Castiel stood there with a knife raised. Dean picked the small toy up and the conversation was moved to the living room.

"Was he your friend," the child asked with a frown.

"Him? No." Dean smiled.

"He was my brother," Harry answered shivering and pulling a small blanket that he had stolen from Dean's trunk tighter.

"Harry-"

"Shut up, Dean. You too, Sam. Lying will only make things worse. Hello, Jesse," Harry said calmly turning his attention back to the antichrist. "My name is Harry also called Azrael and Castiel is my youngest brother. I'm sorry about him scaring you. I disagreed completely w-with what he was trying to accomplish."

"How can you have two names?"

At least the boy didn't seem mad at him for what Castiel did, thankfully.

"Well I was first born as Azrael, Angel of Death, but something happened to me a long time ago. After that I came to be known as Harry, a Pastor in a church." The boy contemplated the answer before nodding in acceptance. "These are my friends Sam and Dean. They are hunters who help save people from creatures that most don't believe exist. You are a cambion. One of these creatures."

"Why do they need to save people from me?"

Suddenly, and quite forcefully, the three men were thrown into the wall and a woman strutted into the room. Harry gagged at the male demon's rotting appearance.

"Because you, Jesse, are special. Oh, you're beautiful. You have your father's eyes."

Harry completely disagreed.

"Who are you? Leave them alone!"

"I'm your mother," the demon cooed ignoring the command.

"No, you're not."

"Mm-hm. You're half human… half one of us."

"Go back to Hell you aborted abomination!"

The demon spun with a hiss and stalked closer to Harry. "Oh… I'm going to have so much fun with you Az-ra-el~!"

Dean took the moment of distraction to yell, "She means demons, Jesse."

That outburst only caused the demon to turn his attention to the eldest hunter. She clenched her fist and Dean groaned in pain. Then the possessed woman turned her attention back towards Jesse making sure to silence the victims on the walls.

"Those people you call your parents-they lied to you. You're not theirs, not really.

"My mom and dad love me," the child stated with pure conviction. He glanced over at Harry who was struggling futilely against the silence.

"Do they? Is that why they leave you alone all day? Because they love you? These people- these imposters-they told you that the tooth fairy was real and that toys could hurt you and a hundred other things that aren't true. They love you so much they made your whole life a lie. Look into your heart, Jesse. You've always known you weren't theirs. You've always known you were different. Everyone has lied to you!"

"Harry hasn't," Jesse muttered softly.

"Ah, yes. My counterpart. You really are a softie at heart aren't you, Azrael? But he doesn't matter child."

"What am I?"

"You're powerful. You can have anything you want." There was glint in Jesse's eyes and Harry smirked. "You can do anything you want."

Dean and Sam struggled to talk but even they could not break the silence. Jesse glanced at Harry again. The demon frowned and glanced thoughtfully at the bound angel.

"He interests you so much? I suppose he has told you the truth as have I… but I'm your mother Jesse. Wouldn't it be better if you came with me? There would be no more lies! Come with me and you can wash it all clean. Start over. Imagine that- a world without lies."

Harry could tell that some of the demons words were getting through and he wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. With a grunt and a strain of magic he was able to pull himself free from the wall to land on the ground with a hard thud his blanket falling to the ground.

"You need to stay in your cage little birdy," it snarled viciously raising Harry into the air by his neck.

"Stop it."

The wizard dropped again. He shivered on the ground but forced himself into a standing position bringing his blanket with him to wrap around himself.

"You are stronger than expected…"

"I want to hear him speak."

Harry smiled grimly and nodded at the brunette boy. "Though this monstrosity has told you much truth it has also omitted many important facts. This lady is I believe, Julia who is your biological mother but the hell spawn possessing her is a demon. It is that which you are addressing in her body."

"A demon?"

"Don't listen to him, Jesse. He does not want what's best for you."

"Sit down and shut up."

Harry chuckled a bit before turning away from the bound demon.

"There is a war going on right now. A… a war between angels and demons. A war that you could easily be dragged into."

"I'm just a kid…"

"Have you ever read the bible Jesse?"

"Not really but I go to church sometimes."

"Have you ever covered the antichrist in church?"

"Isn't that the devil's son?"

"Not quite. The bible is wrong on more accounts than it is right… The antichrist is any demon cambion-"

"What exactly is a cambion?"

The chair scratched around on the ground as the demon struggled to move. Harry glared at it before answering the boy.

"A cambion is a half human half creature. The term is most often used for half angels and half demons. You are a cambion. Half human half demon."

"Oh."

"Yes. Anyways," the chair creaked dangerously as the possessed woman almost fell over. Harry ignored it and continued. "The antichrist can be any demon cambion alive during the process of the breaking of the seals. The breaking of the seals is when demons are unlocking small locks that keep the devil trapped in Hell," Harry said cutting off the question. "So far Lucifer, Satan, is already walking free and he could turn you into a dangerous weapon against heaven."

"Why me? Why not any other cambion," Jesse asked uncomfortably. The wizard noticed, though, that this was the most relaxed the child had been all night.

"Cambions are almost impossible to create. I have not been around for the last two millennia but even when I was alive there were never any cambions…"

"Why are you telling me this!?"

Whoah! There goes relaxed. Lights around the house rattled and the walls shook. The demon looked exuberant, stopping its struggles.

"Because I have always been a protector of children. And whether you like being called that or not you are still young Jesse. Still innocent to the workings of the world. I do not want you getting involved in a war that would destroy your spirit and happiness."

The brunette clenched his fist and looked at the demon.

"Get out of her."

A column of black smoke erupted from the woman's mouth as the chair flew back against the wall. Instead of disappearing up the chimney it circled back around to tear at Harry. He felt a slight sting on his right ear before Jesse forced it to leave.

"How did you do that," Dean asked peeling himself from the floor.

"I just did."

"Kid, you're awesome."

Jesse preened and Harry chuckled, shivering again.

"Is she going to be okay," The small brunette asked after turning to the unconscious women in the chair.

"Eventually."

Dean leant over to pick up the Castiel action figure that had fallen from the mantle.

"Look, uh, truth is, he's kind of a buddy of mine. Is there any way you could turn him back?"

"He tried to kill me."

Harry pursed his lips. There was something seriously wrong with his younger brother. An emptiness that he noticed was starting to disappear more around him… But whenever it was there, Cas would do some pretty horrible things…

"Right, uh, but he's not a bad guy. He was just confused." Jesse just stared at him. "Okay. It's been a long night. We'll talk about it… later."

Dean gently placed Castiel back on the mantle.

"What now," Jesse asked looking at Harry.

It was Dean who answered, "Now we take you someplace safe, get you trained up. You'd be pretty handy in a fight, kid."

"Not going to happen, Dean. I know you're dad raised you as hunters but not everyone should be subjected to that. This is a war, besides. Completely different from hunting down creatures."

"He's powerful, Harry. More powerful than pretty much anything we've ever seen. That makes him-"

"A freak," Jesse cut in.

Harry flinched and knelt besides the boy, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Being different does NOT make you a freak. I would know…"

"I can't stay here, can I?"

Smart child. "No, the demons have your location now. They will be relentless in pursuing you."

"I won't go without my mom and dad."

"There's nothing more important that family. We get that," Sam started gently. "And if you really want to take them, we'll back your play. But you got to understand- it's gonna be dangerous for them too."

"What do you mean?"

"The demons are after you Jesse. Bringing them will put them into the line of fire. They might get hurt trying to protect you when they don't understand what's going on," Harry said standing again but leaving his hand on the child's shoulder. Jesse seemed to take comfort from it. He wouldn't deny a child any sort of comfort.

"Look, Jesse, once you're in this fight you're in to the end. Win or lose," Dean murmured leaning down and looking the boy in the eyes.

"What should I do?"

"We can't tell you. It's not fair, I know," Sam placated.

"Can I go see my parents? I… I need to say… goodbye."

"Sure."

Harry made to remove his hand but Jesse reached up to clutch it. He turned, still clutching the wizard's hand, and dragged him upstairs.

"Jesse…"

"I don't want to go alone… You… You're safety. At least, you feel like it."

"Jesse, I'm a really big target as well. If I go with you it would be so much harder to hide… but I can make sure that your parents can safely go with you."

The boy turned to look at Harry with large eyes. "But you said-"

"I know what I said. Back when I was still young I had a friend who had to erase her parents' memories of her to protect them. She was devastated and she lost what little innocence she had left. I would not wish that upon you. So if you would like I can help you…"

"Please." Tears gathered in those chocolate brown eyes. "Please. I'm afraid… I don't want to do this alone."

"Alright."

Harry, using his magic, was able to burn anti-demon possession and anti-angel tracking spells onto both parents' bones, their ribs being the focus. Being asleep, they never felt a thing.

"This is the best I can do. Good luck, Jesse. Stay safe. Ah! Here take my number. Call me if you ever need anything."

"Thank you, angel."

Then the boy and his parents were gone.

Harry padded back down the stairs and when the brothers looked at him with questions in their eyes he only shook his head and turned to look at the mantle. Within a blink of an eye Castiel was standing next to there and the action figure was gone.

"He's gone…"

"He is. I told you he was no threat, Castiel. Children are always innocent until proven guilty."

"Where did he go?"

Harry turned to Sam and shook his head again. It was Castiel that was able to answer. "I don't know. He put everyone in town back to how they were- at least the ones still alive. Then he vanished."

"How do we find him?"

"With his powers, we don't," Harry mumbled before shuffling to the front door and heading towards the Impala.

A little while later they were driving in silence when Dean suddenly chimed, "Do you think Jesse's gonna be okay?"

"I hope so," Sam replied.

"You know, we destroyed that kid's life by telling him the truth."

"We didn't have a choice, Dean."

"Yeah… you know I'm starting to get why parents lie to their kids. You want them to believe that the worst thing out there is mixing Pop Rocks and Coke-protect them from the real evil. You want them going to bed feeling safe. If that means lying to them, so be it. The more I think about it...the more I wish Dad had lied to us…"

"The truth hurts," Harry snuffled. "But sometimes it's better to know the truth than to be left in damaging ignorance. Jesse is one of those special cases that needed to know…"

AN: Yay I'm so happy I finished~! Let me know what you all think! There was a hint to a a twist in this chapter. Let's see how many people find it~

Short

"Sam, where's Jinson?"

The tall hunter flinched and Harry frowned in uneasiness.

"Aah... The head pastor... he protected you till the end," the Winchester said trying to break the news gently.

"Till... the end...?"

Dean was really worried to find Sam freaking out trying to wake a pretty much catatonic angel in hiding. He looked to his younger brother who only spoke the word 'Jinson' and suddenly everything made sense. At least the man hadn't destroyed they're hotel room...
