Hey!
Enjoy!
That did it.
He had waltzed past her, a smile on his face, and she had inhaled. He. Smelt. Of. Perfume.
"That's it!" she cried at the top of her voice, spinning around, seething, Jerome turned with a frown. He had just come home from work, into the house that the married couple had been living in for two years. "That is it Jerome! Where have you just come from?"
"Work," he answered with a frown
"Then why do you smell of perfume?" she growled. Jerome glared at her
"Fine Jaffray," he snapped, brushing his blond hair back, stressed. "Maybe I stopped off at the pub before I came back, but can you blame me dammit? It's getting harder and harder to want to come home,"
Mara tried not to make it show, but her eyes glittered with tears. Instantly Jerome felt bad, not wanting to hurt her feelings
"No Mara, it's jus-"
"No," she shoved him away, wiping her face "If you're so sick of being in this relationship maybe you should leave," she pointed at the door "I mean you're only sleeping around anyway, this'll save you going around behind my back,"
Jerome's mouth dropped open, and a deep anger bubbled inside of him "You think I would ever cheat on you Mara?" he yelled, shaking the house "I love you for goodness sakes! How can you say that? For all I've sacrificed for this damn relationship, how can you say I would cheat on you?"
"You've sacrificed?" Mara chocked in disbelief "You wanted to live in Wales! Not me! I left my family to come here, for you!"
Jerome rolled his eyes, seething "Right, right right right, and I wanted kids, but no, you refuse,"
Mara wiped her tears away, fully crying now "Oh my gosh, get out of my house you lying cheat, get out right no-" Jerome grabbed her wrists and shoved her roughly into the wall, finally getting her to look him in the eyes
"I never cheated on you, you idiot!" he spat into her face, shoving away from her, shuddering with anger
"I never want to see you again!" she screamed, he pulled the door open and slammed it shut behind him. Mara slid down the wall, sobbing loudly, the house seemed to wallow with her, and echoed her sobs throughout. Mara buried her face into her knees, and just cried harder.
Line Break
"Mara," someone whispered. Mara blinked, she was still in the corridor, on the floor, tears on her face. She sat up, her cheek red from the carpet. She looked up, and saw Eddie. "Mara," he whispered again, hooking his arm underneath her and lifting her up, carrying her bridal style out of the house. She found herself gripping his shirt, as if he would disappear before her.
"He cheated on me," she whispered, shaking her head "I know he did, I know it,"
"Shhh," he hushed her, buckling her into the passenger seat of his car, as if she were a child and couldn't do it herself.
"He did, Eddie I know he did-"
"Maybe he did." He cut her off. Meeting her brown eyes coolly "And so what? You were shutting him off completely Mara. Apparently you guys hadn't been sleeping in the same room for months,"
Mara looked down at her lap "So?"
"Mara," he almost laughed "Why the hell were you shutting him off?"
Mara swallowed, wiping her cheeks of the dry tears "Because every night Eddie," she whispered "Every single night he talks about her."
Eddie frowned "Who?"
Mara met his eyes "Joy."
Line Break
Jerome fell to the floor with the impact of the punch, flung at him by the one and only Mick Campbell. "You idiot!" Mick cried "You're still not over Joy and you marry Mara-"
"Dude, what the hell are you saying?" Jerome covered his face as Mick kicked him in the stomach.
"The reason Mara doesn't want have any kids with you is because every night, you're crying out Joy's name, and you're so blooming happy-"
"What?" Jerome whispered, he hauled himself up off the floor "What?"
"You heard me." Mick replied, curiously watching him.
"Oh my god," he pushed past Mick, and ran.
Line Break
"Mara," he burst into their house, and seemed shocked that it was almost empty. He ran up into the bedroom he had been banned from, and saw Mara, zipping up her suitcase. "Jaffray," he whispered breathlessly "What are you doing?"
"I'm moving in with Patricia and Eddie for a few months, and then I think I'm going home to be with my parents." She answered quietly, going back to the wardrobe, and removing the last thing from it, a grey coat.
Jerome's world seemed to come crashing down around him, and he didn't understand anything. "You can't…Mara, Mara those dreams you were angry about, the one with Joy," Mara visibly stiffened, and Jerome shook his head. "Mara, they're not about Joy, the person, they were about how damn happy I was to be married to you. Like, every night I would dream about how I was so full of joy…I…"
Mara's eyes widened, and they were soon swimming with water. "Why didn't you say?" she choked out.
Jerome looked at her, completely lost "Fact is Mara, I shouldn't have had too,"
She looked down. And shook her head. "Well it's too late for us anyway. You slept with someone else."
"Once." He whispered, nodding. His confirmation broke her. She had been hoping, hoping that she was wrong. She fell to the ground, and Jerome raced to her, clutching her in his arms. "I was drunk," he whispered into her ear "I don't even remember her name, if it was a her…from what I saw it might have been a guy," he shuddered.
And Mara couldn't help herself, she smiled.
His whole body relaxed when he saw it. And he pulled her onto his lap, so her legs went around his waist as she faced him. It was intimate, something they hadn't been in a while. "I love you," he whispered
"All of this because I didn't talk to you about a dream," she muttered, angry and embarrassed at herself, burying her face in the crook of his neck. He wrapped his arms around her waist so tightly, as if he was afraid she wouldn't be there in a moment.
"We both made some mistakes," he whispered. He grinned against her ear "I'm a bit of a liar and a cheat,"
"I can be irritating to come home to," she laughed when he did.
"Hey, we're figuring it out," he whispered. Mara nodded.

Mara woke up before him, for the first time she could remember. And was just so pleased that he was beside her, his muscled torso for all to see. She kissed his sleeping face, and found herself crying, at the thought of ever losing him. She kissed him harder, and he woke up with a dazzled grin.
"That's a brilliant way to wake me up," he whispered. He frowned, noticing her tears. "Hey, what's up?"
"I love you," she chocked, Jerome smiled, kissing her forehead
"Jeez Jaffray, don't you think I know that?" he teased, tickling the back of her neck with his fingertips "And what do you know?"
"That you love me," she whispered
"For eternity,"
The neighbours slept easy for the first time in two years, no sounds of fighting and yelling. Instead, if they listened hard enough, they could just make out the sound of the couple laughing.
Eddie and Mick finally got a good nights sleep.
Hey! This was inspired by Olly Murs right place right time, even though it has no relevance or link to the song, which is insanely good, I just…thought of this.
Anyone like it?
