"Mara, you saucy minx," Jerome grinned, Mara closed her locker, turning to face him, clutching her books to her chest and arching a delicate eyebrow
"What do you want, Jerome?" she sighed. Jerome had to bite back his smile when he saw her properly for the first time that day. She was wearing the dark grey girls cardigan, and he was wearing the boys grey cardigan, not many people wore them, and he was happy they matched.
"I got you something," he nodded, fishing into his pockets, and pulling out two neat tickets. Mara took them with her spare hand, and had to fight her smile
"Tickets to Thor 2? And there are two of them? Who's the other one for, and what's the catch?"
"No, catch Mara dearest," he smiled, running a hand through his hair "I just figured the two of us could go and watch it this Saturday,"
She stared at him, brown eyes glinting "I thought you hated superheroes, I thought when we were dating-"
"Oh don't say that," Jerome groaned, Mara arched a delicate black eyebrow, waiting for him to elaborate "Don't say 'when we were dating'. I don't want us to be broken up anymore,"
"So that's what this is?" Mara nodded with a small smile "You dumped me, Jerome. Without so much as a reason why-"
"I would tell you, but you wouldn't believe me." He said, eyes blazing with sincerity.
Mara stepped away, getting prepared to leave "Try me," she sighed.
Jerome took a deep breath "I was possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian ruler, called Senkhara, she was the one who dumped you, not me." He said, completely honestly.
Mara stared at him, eyes wide, and she handed the tickets back to him. Shaking her head. "I wanna be friends with you Jerome, because as a friend, I understand. But as a girlfriend, you really want me to believe that you were possessed?"
Jerome thrust the tickets back into her hands and she rolled her eyes. "Jaffray please-"
"Don't call me that-"
"Jaffray." He said again, with more confidence, he smirked down at her "Jaffray, my Jaffray," he caged her beside her locker, he bowed his head, kissing her jaw. She pulled away
"Jerome-"
"Didn't I act oddly?" he grasped for straws "Didn't I do something weird? Out of character?"
Mara actually stopped, thinking about it. "Well…" she frowned "You grabbed my shoulder, really hard," subconsciously, she rotated her left shoulder and Jerome raised his eyebrows in surprised "I still have the bruises,"
"Oh my god," he whispered "I had no idea-"
"Yes you did!" Mara cried, confused now "Because you made them!" Jerome stared her, eyes completely crystal clear. "But you would never ever hurt me, you would never touch me other than gently," Jerome nodded, watching her. "So…so you were really….really possessed?"
He nodded helplessly "You and Eddie went ghost hunting Mara, she possessed me, but I'm okay now, and she's gone." Mara's eyes widened, and she looked down at the tickets.
"You know, believing that Thor is real is more believable than that." She shook her head with a sigh "But I believe you, I must be a complete pushover or-"
Jerome engulfed her in a lovely, warm embrace "Or you recognise somewhere deep down that I would never lie to you,"
Mara sighed, linking her hand with his "You better not be leading me on, Jerome Clarke."
"Perish the thought, Mara Jaffray."
"And if you break up with me again?"
"100% chance I was possessed by a demon,"
Mara smiled.
