Mara couldn't help but giggle and blush, rather madly like a love struck teenage girl. Which was exactly what she was. She was chatting online to a guy, and she knew it was dangerous and all of that, but she really liked him. It was a completely anonymous website, which made her feel more safe, but she loved chatting with this mystery guy. She thought for a moment, before typing
I want to meet you.
She bit her lip, before nodding and hitting enter. There was only a few second delay
I want to meet you too was his reply Where? When? Any time I will be there, I just want to hold you in my arms.
Again, Mara was blushing madly, she thought hard, trying to think of a nice location, that was public at the same time, just in case the person she'd had this amazing connection to, honestly was a psychopath.
Line Break
"You're adorable," Jerome grinned, ruffling her hair, Mara nudged him, hard. He laughed loudly "Come on, let's go get lunch. This is boring,"
"It may be boring," Mara nodded, as they walked through the shop "But I need something nice to wear,"
"You would look absolutely stunning in everything Mara," he nodded
She rolled her eyes "You only say that because we're best friends,"
Jerome shook his head, but she didn't see. He pulled out a red summer dress "Do you like this?" She examined it thoughtfully, cocking her head to the side
"I'm not sure, is red really my colour?"
"Definitely." Jerome said too quickly, Mara arched an eyebrow, but Jerome didn't meet her gaze, instead handing her the dress. What could he say? That he had been imagining her in his favourite colour? He couldn't. Anyway, Jerome was getting Mara off his mind, lately, he'd been talking to this girl online...this amazing, fantastic girl, and he was sure, sure he was in love with her, though he had never actually spoken to her. "What are you buying this for, anyway?"
"No reason," Mara lied "Just need something,"
Line Break
Jerome took a deep breath, wiping his hands on his jeans nervously. He stood in the middle of Central Park, holding a bouquet of flowers in the sunshine. He was wearing jeans, a lilac jumper and a grey blazer, his hair slicked off the side, the wind barely touched it. He took a few deep breaths, looking around. Oh he had never been more nervous in his life, he tugged at his collar, what if she didn't like him?
"Jerome?!" Mara exclaimed, Jerome whirled round, his face the mirror image of Mara's, shocked and horrified. He took in her appearance, her hair straightened, in the red dress, she looked better than he had envisioned. "What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?"
"Why do you have flowers?"
"I..." he took a deep breath "I'm meeting a girl," Mara frowned "What about you?"
"I'm meeting a guy."
They both nodded, before watching each other. It took a long few moments, but they both realised at the same time, leaping back in shock. "Mara?" Jerome whispered, eyes wide "You're not..." Mara bit her lip
"I want to meet you," she whispered. Jerome almost laughed, laughed at how bizarre it was
"Well then..." he shook his head, handing her the flowers "These are for you,"
She took them with a shy smile "What are the chances?" he said nothing, and she looked down "Don't be upset," she urged quietly "I mean- I know you're disappointed-"
"Disappointed?" Jerome cut her off with a startled frown "Why would I be disappointed?"
Mara shrugged, as if it were obvious "Because I'm not your type, because I'm not pretty-"
"Mara," he cooed, in an awed whisper "I'm not disappointed," he took her hand "I would never be disappointed with you. I was just...disheartened that the girl I fell in love with, didn't love me back," Mara stared at him. Not understanding. "Mara I love you, but when I asked you out, and you said you only loved me as a friend, I went online, looking to take my mind off it, and I thought I had fallen in love again, with someone else. But it was you, and I just feel...like this is fate, for me to keep loving you, and then to keep being broken,"
Mara watched him with wide eyes, and set her flowers down on the bench, she brushed her hair back "I fell in love with my best friend," she whispered "I fell in love with the guy I chatted to online. I love you Jerome, I do," she leaned up, wrapping her arms around him, in a familiar embrace, but now it didn't mean friendship, it meant so much more.
Jerome shuddered in relief, his arms wrapped around her waist, he hummed into her hair. He lifted her into the air, spinning on his heels, she laughed loudly. "I love you," he whispered. He then pulled back, watching her "This is gonna be our first kiss,"
"Nervous?" she blushed under the sun
Jerome nodded "Are you?"
Mara shook her head "Don't worry, Clarke. I'll lead you through it,"
Jerome smirked at her "Go on then," they were mere millimetres from each other
"Stop talking," she muttered with a smile
"Make me," he whispered.
Mara wrapped her arms tighter around his neck, and pulled him smoothly down to her, their lips meeting perfectly. A woman tutted as she pushed her pram along, but they were completely oblivious. Far too absorbed in each other, moving in synchronisation. A wonderful feelings over coming them both in a calming wave of serenity. Jerome could see and feel and hear, and cared about nothing but her. Mara. His everything, and he never wanted to be alone, when he could be with her. They pulled away, Mara ducked her head, face blushing a delicate rose colour "That wasn't your first kiss," she pointed out quietly
Jerome half smiled "But it will always be the one that means most."
