Hey!

Enjoy!

"Jerome Clarke," Mara smiled victoriously when she saw him, taking out her prefect notebook and her pen from her blazer pocket. The school was abandoned, only prefects and teachers were allowed to come back after nine o'clock. Jerome froze, turning around, hands raised in innocence, a smirk on his face. "Finally."

"The first prefect to catch me red handed," Jerome clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth "Well done…" his eyes flashed down to the badge "Mara."

Mara grinned, writing his name onto the little sheet of paper "And what would you be doing here after hours Jerome? Planning a prank, stealing homework, bulling a poor kid for his lunch money-"

"Nightly stroll." Jerome smiled, groaning and rolling his eyes when Mara handed him the slip.

"Unfortunately, this nightly stroll means you have detention tomorrow lunch time," Mara tucked her hand behind her ear and Jerome let her walk a few paces before calling

"Mara!" he called. She stopped, turning around with a pointed look "How about you don't give that slip to Mr Sweet, how about you give it to me, and we forget this ever happened?"

Mara laughed "As convincing as that sounds, Clarke," Jerome's whole body shook when she said his name, it send a vibration through him that he liked, and he wanted her to say it again "I think I'll pass, thanks for the offer though,"

"Mara please," Jerome called out to her "One more detention and I get a red form." Mara nodded "Have a heart! I'm…not that bad…" he trailed off and Mara laughed. Running a hand through his blond hair he reached out to her "Come on, there must be something you want- something more than seeing me getting thrown into toilet duty,"

Mara smiled- and then paused. "Well…" she frowned "You remember how someone pulled that 'prank' on Mrs Andrews…well, it wasn't you and it would probably help me out a lot if I knew who it was,"

Jerome grinned "If I told you who did it, you'd hand me the slip?" Mara nodded, so Jerome took it "It was Patricia Williamson." Mara noted that down with a frown, she recognised the name. Then she turned "Wait! Aren't you going to give me the slip?"

"Oh Jerome," Mara laughed "Would I really give this up?"

Jerome's shoulders fell, but then he laughed. What a…what a very Jerome thing to do. Was this girl his soul mate or what?

Line Break

The red form never came.

Jerome went over to IRIS house, and Mara opened the door "You didn't sell me out," he noted with a nod. Mara shrugged

"I didn't have the heart too…and you don't seem that bad, you know…for a trouble maker," Jerome laughed at her terminology "Sorry, Jerome…was there something I could help you with?"

"Yes, actually," Jerome cleared his throat "I'd like to go out with you, Miss Prefect. To a movie?"

"Like a date?" Mara asked, confused. Jerome nodded

"Never been asked out on a date before?"

"No…" Mara said and Jerome's eyes widened. The girl was pretty, and smart and witty…why not? "I don't really date."

"So…I'll pick you up at eight,"

Line Break

"I bet you wanna give them detentions," Jerome grinned as they walked out of the movie and Mara spotted two girls sprinting down the cinema halls. Mara rolled her eyes

"I'm not all that rule abiding,"

"Oh yeah?" Jerome teased "What's your rule about dating?"

"No kissing on the first date."

"Break it." Jerome said evenly, looking down at her with a smirk "I dare you."

Mara looked up at him, and shook her head "You wish I was that easy." And she flicked her hair over her shoulder, heading outside. Jerome followed, like a dog on a leash. He had a pull to her, and though no one could see it, it was there, and he loved the feeling of it looped around his heart.

"No…I'm glad you're not, actually."

Line Break

"I dare you to hold my hand in public." Jerome smirked as they walked towards school. Mara's eyes widened

"B-but I'm a prefect and you're-"

"Your boyfriend." He finished with a smile, stopping in front of the school gates with a teasing look. He held out his hand. "I double dare you." Mara swallowed away her fears, blinked back her insecurities, and nodded, taking his hand firmly, and they walked into the school.

The reactions were hilarious. Children blanched everywhere, teachers looked in absolute shock, Mick punched a locker, and a group of cheerleaders even started crying. Odd reactions really. But Mr Sweet didn't like it, as he stood by the door of his office, and saw his best prefect alongside the school's trouble maker, who should have been expelled yonder years ago. He did not like it at all.

"Maybe it's a good thing," Daphne tried "Maybe she's a good example for him."

"Or maybe," he said more pessimistically "He's being a bad example for her."

Line Break

"It's been four weeks." Jerome stated, moving his Bishop "And we still haven't kissed." Mara arched an eyebrow, moving her pawn tactically

"Are you blaming me?"

"Not blaming anyone," he said, running his hand through his blond hair as he thought about where to move his queen. "I'm just stating a fact." He looked up to see Mara staring at him. "I'm saying…" he whispered honestly "That I really want to…I really want to kiss you."

"That's good," she smiled beautifully, brushing her black hair back "I really want to kiss you too,"

"Well the-" Mara had leaned forward and pressed her lips against his, cutting him off. His whole world was spinning incredibly fast and he felt dizzy and lightheaded, he leaned forward, trying to get even closer to her. The chess game went unnoticed, as Jerome cleared the board, placing his knee on it so that he could cup her cheek and kiss her for even longer, despite the fact they were both gasping for air. "T-t-that was…perfect," he whispered. Mara smiled shyly, picking up a Queen from the floor. She held it up and it glinted in the light. "I love you, Jaffray, my perfect prefect."

"I love you, Jerome," she smiled teasingly "My tall troublemaker."

He laughed loudly, leaning back in the soft chair "I call you perfect, you call me tall?"

"You call me short."

"Yes, but it just makes you even more beautiful." Mara blushed again, throwing the Queen high into the air. Jerome caught it with a snap of his wrist.

Eric Sweetie rolled his eyes from the doorway of the drama studio. But he couldn't help but admit, they did look made for each other. "Opposites really do attract, I guess," he muttered, wandering down the hallway.

Sorry, the ending got away from me….
