God, I wish I had started this a while ago, but oh well. I think I've come a long way since I started this story. It feels like I've been doing this since forever, but I also feel like I'm finally starting to make some progress with it. It's a nice feeling. Let's see some more of that progress.

Caledon City was a huge city and more than a little intimidating for Red, Green, and Blue having grown up in a small town. Even bustling Viridian City was nothing compared to the metropolis they had found themselves in. The city was full of people and Pokémon running about and countless buildings that seemed to reach up into the sky forever. For all of the intimidating size the city had, it wasn't that hard to find your way around. The streets were wide and the buildings were all clearly labeled. Even Blue couldn't help but want to explore the city for a little while. The three decided that they would all check out the city's sights on their own than meet up back at the Pokémon Center around noon to challenge the Caledon City Gym.

Red started off by wandering around to see what there was to be seen. As much as the city had to offer, the only thing that seemed to appeal to Red as the Pokémon Trainer he was was a huge department store that advertised the largest selections of Pokémon Training items in Kanto. Red also saw the way to the Gym, though it seemed oddly overgrown to him. There was also a really fancy looking hotel, but it was definitely more expensive than the "first night is free" Pokémon Center.

The only other establishment that caught Red's eye was a gambling parlor. It wasn't the flashing neon sign, or colorful walls that caught his attention. After all, every other building had that. It's just that there was something off about the building. Something seemed out of place about it. The citizens of Caledon (most of them anyway) didn't seem that fond of it either. Gambling wasn't exactly illegal in Kanto, but it was largely frowned upon. Still, something about that place seemed sinister.

Red decided to look past it. He decided to see what the department store had, so he headed toward it only to come across a familiar face. "Red! Hey, Red!" none other than Lane, the girl he and green had escorted so long ago called from the doorstep of a nearby apartment building. Red tried not to notice her, but her voice was too loud to ignore.

"Hello, Lane," Red greeted politely. To his surprise, nobody seemed to even take notice of Lane's shouting.

"So Red, what brings you all the way to my home town?" That explains it, everyone is just used to her.

"There's a Pokémon Gym here," Red explained.

"I see," Lane smiled, "Well, I might have something that will help you with that." Lane beckoned Red inside the apartment complex and he reluctantly followed. After an impressively long elevator ride to the top floor, Lane opened the door to the only apartment on the floor. "What do you think?" she asked as they both stepped inside.

"I-it's bigger than my house…"

Lane snickered, "I get that a lot." Lane showed Red to a room with a full Pokémon Battle Arena, once again aweing Red. Lane laughed again at his reaction. "My daddy is an executive at Silph Co., the company that makes the Pokéballs." Red looked around the room and noticed three Pokémon he hadn't seen before. They were all cat- or fox-like, one mostly orange with tan tufts, another solid yellow with a white mane and spikey fur, and another with blue fur and a dolphin tail. "I bet you don't recognize my Eevees," Lane smiled, "They're evolved now and are much stronger battlers. Thanks in no small part to you. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like a battle. Depending on how well you do against me, I might think about giving you a reward that might help you against this little old city's Gym Leader."

Red raised an eyebrow, "How generous of you. Well, I never turn down a challenge."

"Excellent!" With that, Lane skipped to one side of the battlefield and celled her evolved Eevees to her side. Red also took his place at the other side of the battlefield. "After you, Red," she said knowingly. Red was no fool, he knew she was going to use his pick for a type advantage. No matter.

"Pidgeotto, go!" Red called with a toss of his Pokéball. With a snap, Red's bird Pokémon appeared.

"Jolteon, go get 'em!" It wasn't hard to figure out what type of Pokémon Jolteon was, but Red had plenty of faith in Pidgeotto. "Jolteon, stop that bird with Thunder Wave!"

"Pidgeotto, Gust."

Lane's Jolteon was incredibly fast, able to zap Pidgeotto before he even had a chance to react. Still, Pidgeotto was still able to kick up a blast of wind to bluster Jolteon and knock it off its feet. It was quick to recover, however.

"Get it with Spark, Jolteon!" Lane ordered. Jolteon started to shed lightning from its fur and ran to tackle the stunned Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto was thrown to the ground hard form the hit. It tried to get up, but Red saw that it couldn't take another hit like that and was in no condition to evade.

Red called back Pidgeotto, and tossed another Pokéball, releasing Diglett. "Diglett, Dig."

"Jolteon, use Quick Attack before it goes underground!"

Jolteon's attack was almost invisibly fast, and it was able to connect with Diglett before it could pull its head underground. Still, it was able to get away and pop back up a second later, blasting Jolteon with rubble and knocking it down and out.

"You beat Jolteon…" Lane gasped as she was forced to recall her Pokémon. "No one's done that since she evolved…" She was about to send her next Pokémon in when Diglett started glowing. "And it's evolving?!"

Diglett's little head in the ground got a little bigger as two more seemed to appear. When the light faded, it was still the same little brown haired mole with a red nose, but now there were three of them. "You're Dugtrio now," Red said proudly after consulting his Pokédex.

"You're definitely an impressive trainer, but let's see what you can do against Vaporeon!" The blue one stepped in next. "Vaporeon, Water Gun!"

"Dugtrio, Magnitude!"

Dugtrio's attack came almost as fast as Jolteon's. Vaporeon didn't even get a chance to real back to attack before the power earthquake tossed it around and knocked it out.

"A-amazing…" Lane smiled and relaxed as she recalled her Vaporeon. "Looks like you win. My Flareon is top class, but it can't beat a ground-type like that." She walked over to a desk and picked up a Pokéball before handing it to Red. "Here."

"What's this?" Red asked.

"There's an Eevee in that Pokéball," Lane explained, "It's pretty rare, but my mother is a Pokémon breeder. You can even turn it into a Flareon like this one here. I bet that would help you with Caledon Gym." Red gratefully took the Pokéball. "If I won I was going to let you take me out on a date as a consolation prize, but…"

"I need to meet my friends, bye!" Red said quickly before disappearing out the door faster than any Jolteon.

Lane chuckled at his reaction, "Go ahead and run, Red. We'll meet again."

Like Red, I need to hurry, so timetopoastbye!
