Chapter 22: Wither
I woke up to the sound of everyone building, tinkering, crafting, or smelting. Everyone seemed busy, and I couldn't figure out why.
"umm, morning guys" I said. "why is everyone so busy?"
In response, I had the cards that were my power suit and power tool tossed to me. I quickly equipped them "we're summoning a Wither" Maillie said plainly.
"A Wither?" I asked, amazed "are we really ready?"
I had the book I used for reaserch thrown to me "read and find out" Blazette said. wow, they were really being…cold, I guess.
I couldn't help an amused smile at the thought of Blazette being cold as I opened the book, looking through the pages.
"The Nether, while mainly safe, contains the power to summon a creature straight from the void." I read "by making the right body, using 4 soul sand and 3 wither skeleton heads; someone can create a body that is a suitable host for one of the most feared creatures throughout the worlds…The Wither. The Wither will destroy anything in it's path, and is highly aggressive towards just about anything that moves. The best way to attack it is in a group, and then from afar."
"Ok guys, ready?" Aqua asked, securing her power tool.
"Aqua, you aren't scared?" I asked.
She turned to me, and I recognized the look in her eyes. Ever since she had become human, she had always looked to me for protection, except on rare occasions. But, before becoming the human I loved, she LOVED fighting, though not as much as being with me. most of the time she let other people fight, but when she was on a rescue mission, or was trying to escape, she got this battle-thirsty look that surprised anyone, even the ones who knew her best. As a human, she only ever got that look when she was going into a battle she felt ready for.
"I'm ready" she said.
Without another word, we headed out. Shadow had already placed all the pieces, and there was one left: the middle head.
"Care to do the honors Alex?" she asked.
I took the card and nodded, then placed it in the right place. The skull fit perfectly. The body began to glow, and we all quickly back-pedaled to get away. The body grew to be about 50 feet, and then stopped…then it looked at us.
"WHO DARES TO SUMMON ME?" the Wither roared. I shuddered, it's voice seemed so unnatural it was unnerving. I could practically feel the power radiating off of it.
It looked around again, then focused on me. I hadn't noticed, but the others had all stepped back, leaving me in front "uh…hi" I managed to say.
"you summoned me, didn't you?" it asked. it didn't seem as angry now, but it's voice was still unnerving.
"uh…yes?" I said, not quite sure how to answer.
It looked at me curiously "that would mean you wanted to battle, correct?" it asked
"well, I actually just need a neather star" I said.
It looked at me for a moment, and without another word, it attacked. it took forever to fight him, and I was hit pretty badly. At about mid day, it got to half health, and hit me with a blue skull. I winced as I clutched my stomach, where it hit me, but I kept fighting.
At sundown, it was defeated, and gave a loud roar before exploading. "wow, that was hard" Elda said, exaughsted.
"yea…anyone seriously hurt?" Blazette asked.
I had only been hit once, but I could see the others recovered…I still felt pain. It didn't seem to be coming from the outside though. It was almost like my insides were being destroyed little by little.
"Alex, are you ok?" Maillie asked. the others looked at me.
I was about to speak, but instead, I collapsed and blacked out.
When my vision stopped being black, it was red at first, and I remembered that's how it was described dying looked like. But it went back to the shapes, and I realized I was very much alive. I also realized that I could move freely, though I decided against it, since I heard the voices again.
"he passed out" one voice said.
"well, humans can't take pain like Minecraftians" another said.
"he stayed conscious until it was banished" another said.
"he's ready, he can fight it" another said.
"but, is he really?" another asked.
They paused. Was I ready? Ready for what?
"he's conscious, just not awake" a voice said.
"yes, he is listening" another said.
"we shouldn't tell him, not yet" another said.
"right…that's later" another said "in the mean time…his machine"
"yes, his ticket home" another said "The ender dragon has it, but we still need to activate it"
They paused. The it was in the End…that meant I knew where it was! And if they were telling me this…
"he figured it out" a voice said "he is ready"
"yes, he is" another said "but does he know that? does his friends know?"
I thought for a moment. I just fought the Wither and survived, though barley. But, if I remembered, the Ender Dragon wasn't nearly as tough
"he's underestimating the dragon" a voice said
"let him, it'll boost his confidance" another said
"we can talk to it, it'll be easier" another said
"then it's decided, the human has a choice now" another said
"yes, human, feel up to the challenge?"
They paused. I thought about it for a moment, then they started talking.
"ok then, human, good luck" a final voice said.
My vision flashed as I shot into a sitting position, blinking in the faint sunlight. Everyone was around me, and judging by the light, it was morning.
"Alex...are you ok?" Aqua asked, the only one able to speak at the moment.
I blinked. My thoughts weren't clear, but one thing stood out in my mind. 5 words that were clearer than anything: "I'm ready for the End"
Yay, another chapter done! I didn't get a response, so I decided to end it, since I have a few ideas for good plot writing. After I'm done with this story, I have another idea that I think I'll use for my next story. Remember: I love input, reviews encourage me, and I'm open to input. Bye for now!
