Revenge is a Dish Best Served Cold.
This was it and Arthur knew it. There was no way back. His heart was pounding on his neck louder than he could have anticipated. His tongue was suddenly dry.
He'd waited so long for that moment and nothing could go wrong. He'd been planning it for almost as long as he'd been a king.
He pushed the door open and winced when it creaked a little but yet the silence was not disturbed. Arthur felt a grin spread on his face when he realized that he was a few feet away from his goal.
So, after closing the door as quietly as possible, he entered and began pacing around his prey as a lion would do around his next meal. His body tensed in anticipation and he could almost taste his victory while his mind began assessing the best way to pounce and inflict all the damage he could.
Finally, nodding to himself, Arthur Pendragon cracked a smile that showed every single one of his teeth and that- if directed during a gruesome battle- would've had the greatest of warriors quaking on their boots for this was the smile of a predator who'd found its meal defenseless and unaided. His eyes glimmered with a spark that spoke of a warrior trained to kill since birth and who knew exactly how to subdue the strongest and most skilled of men.
He leaped with a war-shout over his too- still prey.
"UP AN' AT EM!"
And if Merlin's gasp and subsequent screech when his King jumped in his bed sounded as if he'd gone to sleep expecting some horrifying beast to attack him it only made Arthur smile wider.
"What the-"he said, looking around with wild eyes and frowning as Arthur's grinning face focused above him. " Arthur?"
"Let's have you lazy daisy!" was the cheerful reply and the king bounced once more before flopping down on his knees besides Merlin and rubbing his knuckles through his friend's black hair. "It's time for you to serve your King Merlin. Come on!"
Before Merlin could try to close his jaw and form a coherent thought the King dragged him out of the bed by the armpits and ruffled his hair once more. "You are the laziest manservant in the history of Camelot. You do know that, right?"
"…Are you dressed?"
"Observant as usual Merlin."
"Arthur." the warlock stifled a yawn and rubbed his eyes. "What's going on?"
"Remember that time you threw a bucket of water over me in the morning?" Arthur said and Merlin nodded, still rubbing his eyes. "And the one when you opened the curtains and never closed them again? And the one when you thought it was morning but it wasn't?"
Merlin frowned and his hazy eyes were not as clouded. "Yes."
"Well," Arthur practically sang. "This is payback for all of that. Now we are even."
The King pointed towards the window, smiling even wider when Merlin's face fell as he realized that it was still dark outside. And when Merlin actually threw a boot at him as he cackled and sprinted out of the room he made a mental note of returning the favor.
It was good to be King.
Yup, this is head canon time!
Anyway, college is wonderful as you can probably tell from the happy-fluffy mood. :) I hope you guys are having a great time too!
