Greetings people! How are all of you on this fine day? Happy late valentines' day to those who celebrate it! I'll talk to you guys in more detail at the end of the chapter. Hope you all enjoy this chapter and I'll see you guys at the bottom of the chapter!
- Elizabeth -
The next day when Elizabeth woke up, she put on a slim, olive colored dress that had three-quarters sleeves and had Victoria put her hair in a bun, also throwing on a black coat in case it was chilly before going down for breakfast. She had a nice chat with her grandfather, seeing as how Diana and Augustine were both not down yet.
Georg retired to his study, as usual, and Elizabeth grabbed her purse, slotted Jim's pocket watch into her dress and sneaked out of the house with the entrance gates' keys in her hands.
After spotting Albert outside the gate with his hands in his pockets waiting for her, Elizabeth opened the gate and locked it again with silence.
She turned and smiled at Albert who did the same. He opened the door for her and she got in before he drove off.
- Harry -
Harry and Clara packed their bags. Harry suggested they go out but Clara said that she wanted to stay in the hotel room as they would be leaving the next day. He obliged.
They decided to lay down on the bed. Harry had his arm around her, holding her close to him and she laid on his chest, staring up at the white ceiling.
"You know, I realized that we're going to get married. But I know so little about you…" Harry pointed out. "What do you want to know?"
"Hmm…tell me about your family. Any siblings?"
"I had a brother named Darius. He was 2 years younger than me. Poor boy died when I was 12." Clara started to tear up at the mention of her late brother.
Harry held her closer to him and kissed the top of her head. "You know, you remind me of him a lot. He looked very similar to you." Clara smiled up at him.
The officer smiled back at her but said nothing in reply.
- Elizabeth -
After an hour of driving, they finally got there. Albert opened the door for Elizabeth and helped her out. "What time do you want me to return for you?" He asked.
Elizabeth thought about it for a while before answering. "You could come back around 3 in the afternoon. Go get yourself some lunch until then." She playfully tossed a coin to him, which he caught, chuckling to himself as she walked into the tall building.
She walked up to the lady at the counter. "Good morning, I was wondering if you could help me with something." Elizabeth said courteously. The lady smiled at her and asked her what she needed.
"Would you happen to know which room Mr. James Paul Moody is in? He was the sixth officer on board the RMS Titanic." She asked nicely.
Suddenly, the lady's smile fell into a frown. "Are you one of those reporters? I've been telling you to stop asking me since last night! But you all just don't stop do you?" Elizabeth opened her mouth to protest when the lady at the counter started to tell her to get lost, or else she would call security and things would get serious.
Elizabeth turned around and was walking dejectedly when she bumped into someone. "My apologies." She muttered. She was about to continue walking when the man she bumped into grabbed her elbow gently.
"Liz?" He called out, happily surprised. She turned to see the face and she broke out into a wide smile. "Lights!" She almost jumped on him as he chuckled, spinning her around a little, to the annoyance of the receptionist.
"We've all missed you! Why have you come to see us only now?" Charles asked, setting her back down on the floor. "My grandmother wouldn't let me visit you guys." Elizabeth frowned.
Charles was about to ask why but Elizabeth changed the subject. "So, would you happen to know which room Jim is staying in?" Charles smirked. "I just so happen to be sharing a room with him."
Charles took Elizabeth to the room, opening it and letting her in first, like a gentleman would.
Charles told Elizabeth that Jim was in the shower and so she decided that she wanted to surprise him.
She took off her coat and hung it over one of the armchairs and went into the bedroom Jim owned. Elizabeth attempted to open the knob but she realized it was locked. Obviously. Charles generously assisted her in teaching her how to pick a lock with one of the pins in her hair. Jim couldn't hear this as he was humming some tune in the shower.
Charles quickly ran off as Elizabeth stepped back and took a deep breath, before kicking the door open so forcefully it slammed against the counter in the bathroom, making a loud noise.
Jim let out an unmanly yelp and covered himself with a towel, pushing the curtain back, ready to yell at Charles when he saw that it was Elizabeth, leaning against the door and smirking at him.
"Liz! Honey! God, you're here!" Jim said, eyes widened as he rushed forward to hug her without thinking. Elizabeth started to giggle and gently pulled him apart from her, looking down at her now wet dress.
"Oh. I'm so sorry honey!" Jim apologized. He also realized that he was wearing nothing but a towel and his cheeks flushed. He walked out into his bedroom and quickly grabbed a set of clothing, giving it to Elizabeth. "Here, you can go change into this and hang your dress out to dry on one of the chairs. I'm sure Lights wouldn't mind lending you his bathroom." Jim shyly smiled at her again before closing the door, returning back to his shower.
Elizabeth started to laugh as soon as she walked out of the bedroom. "Out so fast? I assumed you would be…taking a while in there." Charles raised his eyebrows cheekily as he rested on the couch, watching the fireplace. "But I guess there was some action, judging by your wet dress."
"Very funny Lights. Can I borrow your bathroom to change?" Elizabeth asked, a hand on her hip. "Of course Liz." Charles led her to his bathroom and put away all his clothes previously strewn everywhere.
Elizabeth quickly stripped herself of the wet garment and threw on Jim's new white shirt and grey pants, all too big for her. She folded up the sleeves to her elbows and borrowed Charles' belt, hanging off one of the hooks on the door and tightening the brown belt on her waist.
Grabbing her clothes and making sure her hair was still looking good, she left the bathroom.
"I borrowed your belt, if you don't mind." Elizabeth hung out her dress on another armchair before sitting down next to Charles. "It's perfectly fine, Liz. In fact, you look wonderful in trousers, surprising for a woman." He commented, turning to face her.
"Thank you." Elizabeth smiled and turned her attention to Jim who had just entered the room in his own white shirt and black trousers. His cheeks were still a tinted pink from their earlier encounter in the bathroom.
"I guess I'll leave you two lovebirds alone and go bother Bert and Joe. Have fun you two. It was lovely seeing you again, Liz." Charles hugged Elizabeth lightly before leaving the room.
The remaining two did not move for a while but then soon after, Jim went over and sat next to Elizabeth on the couch and gave her a light kiss on the lips. When he parted, he held her hands.
"I'm so glad to see you again honey. You know…I was getting worried and I wanted to go and see you, but I didn't know where to go." Jim said.
"I've missed you dearly too. Why didn't you just ask Clary where I was?"
"I tried, but she didn't remember the address."
"Oh. Well, I'm sorry I took so long to come see you. My grandmother didn't let me visit." Elizabeth bit her lower lip. "It's all right. Clara told me about her. She's not really even your grandmother so why do you address her as such?"
"I guess it would be a formality. It is her status in the family so by right that's what she should be addressed as." Elizabeth explained. "But enough about my grandmother. I have until 3 in the afternoon with you until I have to go. What should we do?"
"This is just a suggestion but would you like to spend the day with the others as well? You haven't seen them in a while."
"I'd love to!" Elizabeth initially planned on spending the day with Jim but figured that it would be much more fun with her friends.
The seven friends were reunited again. They spent most of their time together sneaking in bottles of ale, ordering room service, playing poker as well as basically just sharing memories they've experienced together. By this time, Elizabeth had already changed back into her dress.
Elizabeth took a look at the pocket watch Jim gave her and frowned when she saw that it was already ten minutes to three. "What's wrong?" Jim asked from beside her.
"I have to go." She said softly, looking down at the floor. The officers and Clara looked at her sadly, hating to see her leave them again. "Why don't you give us your address so we can keep in touch?" Charles suggested. Elizabeth brightened up and they all exchanged addresses before bidding Elizabeth farewell.
They each gave her a hug and Jim sent her down. They held hands tightly, not wanting to let go. Eventually they reached the entrance of the hotel. Seeing as how her ride had not arrived yet, they talked.
"I'm really going to miss you." Elizabeth sighed. "Don't be so upset honey. I'm just going back to see my family. We'll keep in touch! And I'm sure one day, we'll see each other." He rubbed her arm comfortingly. "I hope that day is soon." She hugged him lovingly and he returned the embrace.
The sound of an automobile pulled up next to them and Albert came out. "That's my ride." As she was about to walk away, Jim pulled her close to him and kissed her passionately. She wanted to cry at that moment, dreading having to leave him again.
"We have to go princess." Albert said, putting a hand on her shoulder. Elizabeth shared a longing gaze with Jim as she went into the car and only looked away when he was no longer in sight. He waved his hand until the car was far of in the distance before trudging back to his hotel room sadly.
"Who was that?" Albert asked, on the journey to the house. "A man I fell in love with, during my time on the Titanic." She said dreamily, thinking back to those sweet moments. "Good for you princess. You two look nice together." He smiled at her through the rear view mirror and hoped that she felt better.
When they reached the house, Elizabeth thanked Albert with a kiss on the cheek and went back into the house. As she was about to walk up the stairs, a voice stopped her. "Come over here Elizabeth." Diana said sternly from behind her.
Elizabeth bit her lip and turned to walk to her grandmother. All was silent for a while before Elizabeth felt a stinging pain on her cheek. Diana raised her hands slapped her across the face.
"How dare you. I strictly told you that you were not allowed to leave the house and you blatantly disobeyed me." She glared at Elizabeth. "I'm sorry." Elizabeth muttered under her breath.
"Well all that doesn't matter anymore. You're getting married."
Elizabeth thought she heard wrongly and stared at Diana incredulously. "Pardon me but I think I heard you mention something about marriage?"
"That's right. I'm marrying you off." Diana almost smirked.
"But…I…what…to who?!"
"A young man named Jasper Bennett."
