- Jim -
It was the day of Josephine's wedding. He hadn't even made up his mind yet. Harry had bought his ticket as well, in case he wanted to follow them and gave it to him the night before. Josephine's friends, including Catherine were all inside her room getting her ready for the afternoon wedding in the nearby church.
He knocked on the door and came in when the girls allowed him to and he smiled. His sister looked beautiful in her white-laced dress, her honey blonde hair up in a side bun. "Do I look okay Jamie?" She asked.
"You look beautiful, Josephine." Jim almost cried and engulfed her in a long and loving hug. "Girls, would you please excuse us?" Josephine said. The girls filed out quickly.
"I overheard your conversation with Harry. About…Elizabeth." Josephine confessed. "You love her a lot, don't you?" She asked.
"It doesn't matter Josie. I love Elizabeth dearly and…I may never find anyone else like her but I love you too. I'm never going to get another sister like you and I would hate to leave you on the biggest day of your life." He said sadly.
"Do you remember that one time you stood up for me in front of the school bully when we were kids?"
"Josie, why are you bringing this up?" He sighed.
"Do you?" Jim nodded.
It was in the middle of summer when one day, Jim picked up little Josephine from school. At that time, they were only 9 and 6 years old respectively.
"Jamie!" The little girl yelled happily, skipping over to her older brother. "How was school today Josie?" Jim asked in his high-pitched voice that was unmistakably the voice of a very young boy.
"Great! I-" Josephine was about to speak when she realized her brother was not looking at her, but past her. She turned and saw him looking at a tall girl with red hair. Catherine Owston. "You like like her, don't you Jamie!" Josephine giggled in a childish way.
"W-what? No! Girls-girls are gross!" He stuttered and stammered, blushing lightly. "You're lying Jamie!" She walked backwards, incessantly teasing him when she fell down, accidentally tripped by someone else's leg.
"Josie!" Jim immediately ran to her side. "Watch where you're going pipsqueak!" Another boy said. They both looked up to see one of the bullies in their school staring down at them.
When Josephine stood up, the bully pushed her so hard she fell back onto the floor. Tears were forming in her eyes. "Hey! Leave her alone!" Jim said angrily, putting his hands on his hips.
"And what if I don't?" The bully shoved Jim backwards. He then pushed up his sleeves and kicked the bully. Josephine was shocked at the amount of strength Jim had. The fight was so heated that the teacher had to stop Jim because he was beating the bully really badly.
"I still remember how badly mama scolded you." The siblings laughed. Josephine stroked Jim's cheek lovingly.
"Jamie, you protected me last time. Now I want to protect you. From the pain and regret you'll feel if you let her go. Sure, you've only got one sister. But I'll always be here for you. I'm never going to leave. Trust me, you couldn't get rid of me even if you tried." Jim chuckled a little. "But she's never going to be there forever. Don't take her for granted. Go." Josephine lightly pushed him towards the door.
Jim had tears in his eyes as she hugged Josephine tightly. She smiled and hugged him back before kissing him on the cheek, gesturing for him to leave. "I'll be back as soon as I possibly can." He kissed her one last time on the forehead and ran from the room, shoving sets of clothing into his bag and left, but not before writing a note and leaving it on his bedside desk.
"Where is James?" Catherine asked as she walked back into Josephine's room. "Off to find his happiness." She smiled to herself.
- Harry -
Harry held Clara's smaller hand in his, as the couple got ready to board the ship. He was a little disappointed that Jim chose not to come but at the last minute, heard a loud yell. "HARRY! WAIT! HARRY!"
He immediately turned, recognizing the voice and chuckled as Jim ran up to them, panting and catching his breath. "Glad you could make it. Took you long enough Jim!" Harry patted him on the back playfully and the three friends boarded the ship.
- Elizabeth -
A few days after her outing with Jasper, Elizabeth sat in her bedroom, combing her hair with a hairbrush. Lately she couldn't keep Jasper off her mind. Every once in a while she'd scold herself. She loved Jim. Didn't she? After all they'd been through. Everyday she told herself she loved Jim, as if it was a chant. But did she really believe herself?
- Jim -
The three of them docked in New York almost a day or two ago. Harry's friend, Elsa, put them up at her house. Although Clara didn't like to think of Elsa as his friend, given that she was probably one of the many women he had slept with before he met her.
That day he decided that he would pay Elizabeth a visit. After the long ride and expensive cab, he finally stood outside the tall black gates, taking a deep breath as he walked through them and knocked on the door.
Not a moment later, the door opened to reveal a maid. "Yes, who might you be?" She asked, looking him up and down. "I'm James Moody miss. Might I speak to Elizabeth? Miss Elizabeth Andrews." The maid was about to speak again when a tap on the shoulder interrupted her.
"It's all right Victoria. I'll take it from here." He waved her off and turned to look at Jim with a smile. "Good afternoon sir. May I ask why you're here?" The man asked him with a sickeningly sweet grin.
Jim couldn't put his finger on it but the man looked so familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before. "I'm actually here to speak to Miss Elizabeth Andrews." Jim answered honestly.
"I'm awfully sorry, but she's quite busy at the moment. I don't think she'll have the time to see you." The man's smile faded a little. "Please, I know she'll see me. If you could just-"
"I don't think you heard me. Elizabeth is busy. She has no time to speak to you at the moment. Kindly leave the premises or there'll be consequences." The man frowned as he shut the door in Jim's face rudely.
Jim was a little shocked at the treatment he was given and was close to walking away when he realized that he came all this way and sacrificed his sister's wedding, not to walk away like a coward, but to see if Elizabeth was all right. He started to walk back to the house with resolute.
- Elizabeth -
She heard voices at the door and walked down the staircase, just as the door closed. "Who was that, Jasper?" she asked him, as she walked up to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "No one, Elizabeth. Come along now." He put an arm around her shoulders and kissed her on the side of her head before walking up the stairs.
- Jim -
As he went back to the front door he peered through the window next to the door and his heart sank when he saw what he did. He saw that man from earlier with Elizabeth, close to each other intimately. With his eyes downcast, he slowly walked away, heartbroken.
D'aaww, poor Jim :( He just got his heart ripped out :( Thoughts? Also, with Josephine's wedding, i made it coincidental for the sake of drama :)
About this story. It's probably going to end sooooon. It's not going to exceed more than 10 chapters! I WILL be writing a sequel to this! I HAVE DECIDED! I have no idea what to call it though :/ The Perfect Life Part II? xD I hope all of you are still with me! And that you'll check it out when I finish this story and upload the sequel!
