Uhh...Hi guys... Haha I WAS initially going to update sooner but while I was on my trip, I realised that I forgot to bring the charger for my laptop xD Anyway, here's the next chapter! If I can get a few reviews, the next (drama-filled) chapter will be up! More on the sequel at the end of the chapter! Hope you all enjoy this chapter and I'll see you guys at the bottom of the chapter!
- Elizabeth -
Today was the day. The day that she and Jasper were to be wed. She stood in front of her mirror and looked at her dress. Victoria was helping her to lace up the dress and was doing it rather tightly. She had just finished her hair and make-up before Elizabeth's grandfather walked into the room, excusing Victoria.
He walked up to Elizabeth and stood just a little behind her, his frail fingers perched on her shoulders. "You look absolutely gorgeous." Elizabeth smiled and leaned into his touch.
"You'll do good today. And I know you'll do the right thing." He said kindly. "I know. I'll marry Jasper without any qualms." She answered, as if it was the model answer.
"No. I want you to follow your heart. Forget what Diana said you had to do. Do whatever you feel is right." He smiled lovingly at her. "But…Everything I've ever done to Ji-" Elizabeth stopped herself from saying the name.
"…it's going to haunt me for life, especially if I don't marry him. I don't know if I'll regret it. The life I'll have to lead if I don't." She was on the brink of tears. Her mind aimlessly drifted back to Jim and his charming smile.
"It doesn't matter what you've ever done before. Forget regret, or life is yours to miss, my dear Elizabeth." Georg pulled her into a hug. Elizabeth let a tear slide down her blushed cheek.
"I believe in you." He kissed her on the forehead just as Diana opened the door. "It's time." She said, almost as if hiding a smile. Georg hugged Elizabeth one last time before she put on her veil and disappeared from the room. Diana looped her arm around Georg's as they followed soon after.
The guests were all in the garden, seated and waiting patiently for the bride to walk down the aisle. Elizabeth met Albert at the foot of the stairs, dressed handsomely in a suit. "You look nice." She smiled slightly at him. "Normally I'd make a snide remark, but you look beautiful today, princess." He grinned at her. She hugged him.
When it came to planning who was going to walk her down the aisle, she shed quite a fair bit of tears, never imagining that person to be anyone else but her father, Thomas Andrews. But that was impossible now. Georg was getting old and she didn't want him to strain himself. Standing up without a walking stick was already a struggle for him. The next person who came to her mind was Charles. But with all the drama that was going on, she doubted that Diana would allow a 'lowly officer' to walk her down the aisle. Elizabeth fought greatly for Albert to walk her and managed to persuade Diana, who didn't really care much at all.
Elizabeth clutched tightly onto Albert's arm, chest heaving up and down in anxiety and stress. She felt as if she was about to cry when Albert kissed her on the cheek. "You'll do just fine, Elizabeth."
With that, two maids opened up the two big brown doors, which led to the garden, and they were on their way.
The guests started to clap softly, as loud as their high society would permit them as they turned to look at the bride who was making her way down the aisle.
Albert walked her down. He could feel her unease and consternation and wanted nothing more than to whisk her away from all of this. He wanted her to be happy, over anything. But alas, there was nothing he could've done, and silently walked her down as he heard her almost inaudible sobbing.
Jasper stood at the wedding arch and smiled triumphantly as he watched his bride walk towards him. 'Finally, she'll be mine.' He thought to himself. A part of him felt guilty and was eating at him. 'You know she won't be happy with you. You love her so you should let her go.' Jasper's heart was beating at the speed of light. He brushed that thought to the back of his mind. 'Who cares? All your life you've always given in. You deserve this happiness.'
Jude stood at his place just a little ways away from Jasper, holding a pillow with two gorgeous wedding bands on it. Jasper's one was plain silver but Elizabeth's had a whole strip of diamonds on it, shining brightly in the sun. Gayle, on his opposite side, hands held together. Quentin was with one of her maids. Jasper's parents were there in the first row, looking at their son expectantly.
After what seemed like an eternity, Elizabeth was standing in front of Jasper. She could sense him smiling down at her. Her chest tightened and all the air in her lungs left her, and it wasn't because of the corset. Her ears started to block out all sound and she took a deep breath to calm herself down. 'Resign to fate. This is really happening.'
The pastor started to speak. "We are gathered here today in the presence…" Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to hear him anymore. Wearing the veil had its perks. For one, no one could see her cry, or see her not pay attention at all. Her thoughts drifted far, far away. Before she knew it, she was back on the RMS Titanic.
She smiled at the memories of her and her friends. Bumping into Jim while returning a lost child. Rendezvousing after dinner. Her first kiss, unlike any other. Meeting Jack and Harold, the silly Marconi operators. Her birthday celebration. Her first night with Jim. However, these grand times weren't enough to bring her away, for the pastor had just finished his speech.
"Do you, Jasper Theodore Bennett, take Elizabeth Law Barbour Andrews, to be your lawfully wedded wife, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?" The official turned to Jasper and asked.
Jasper smiled charmingly, eyes glued onto Elizabeth. "I do." Elizabeth gulped. It was her turn.
"Do you, Elizabeth Law Barbour Andrews, take Jasper Theodore Bennett, to be your lawfully wedded husband, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?" He repeated.
It was as if she forgot how to speak. "I…I…I d-"
"STOP THE WEDDING!" Elizabeth turned immediately, recognizing the voice. "Jim…" She said. Her voice was broken, but her heart soared higher than the moons.
JIM CRASHED THE WEDDING. WHAT. HAHA. Dramatic much. I found writing the part on Georg and Elizabeth a little hard, seeing how emotional the part was made to be. I wanted to ask, if you all liked the part I did a few chapters back on Augustine and Helen (the flash back/ back story). I would literally dedicate another story for it, seeing as how it is super fun to write! Feedback on that please!
Also, about the sequel, it's going to be unexpected. I really do hope that you guys will stick with me even then because I'll be taking a HUGE risk by writing that. You'll see what I mean when I do upload it.
Now to thank the amazing people who left reviews! Thank you to Chloe for your review!
Chloe : Thank you for your review! You really hate Jasper, don't you? xD I guess there isn't much harm in telling you about Harry. MY Harry, that I'm writing, used to be a HUGE womaniser. He could literally be romantically or sexually involved with a few girls at a time, and seeing how he is a seaman, it wouldn't be hard to hide it. Ever since he met Clara, he's changed his lustful ways :) Glad you liked the part on the officers. Thank you!
Amazing TEEN Authoress : Thank you for your review! What do you want with him, he's dead xD I want Mr Andrews too but there's just nothing I can do about it xD
Ciara : Thank you for your review :) I'll write as much as I possibly can!
To everyone else, I hope you all are enjoying the story as well! Have a nice day and review if you liked the chapter! :D
