- Elizabeth -

After many days at sea, they finally reached Dalbeattie, Scotland. Getting into a cab, they drove and drove for hours until they reached a small cottage in the early evening.

Jim walked forward with Elizabeth just a little ways behind him, holding his hand. Jim took a deep breath and knocked on the door. They waited for a couple of minutes before the door opened.

There stood a middle-aged lady, with dark brown hair put up in a messy bun. She looked exhausted, with dark circles under her eyes and wrinkles on her forehead.

"Who…who are you two?" She asked. Her voice was like honey, smooth and soothing, despite her untidy exterior. "Good evening ma'am, sorry to disturb you. I am James Moody and this is my fiancée, Elizabeth. You must be Mrs. Murdoch."

For a moment, she was stunned, but blinked her eyes one or two times. "You were…one of the officers on Titanic, weren't you?" Jim nodded slightly. "I'm Ada, Will's wife. Come in."

The house was small but cozy. Elizabeth looked around the walls and she felt extremely sad when she saw family pictures of Will, his wife and child.

Mrs. Murdoch brought them tea as they sat in the sitting room. "Why have you come here?" She asked in a soft voice.

"Will told me, before the ship went down, that if I made it, I was to tell you that he loved you. And to see how you were coping."

"Life has been hell without Will." Ada buried her head in her hands. "When he left, I was expecting. I gave birth in late April. It wasn't easy at all, not without him, but I did it anyway."

There were quite a few moments of silence. "Are they true?"

"Pardon me?" Jim asked, confused.

"Are the rumors true? Did Will really…kill himself?"

"No." Jim said firmly. "Will worked hard until his last breath. People are just talking bullshit if they think he'd do something as cowardly as that!" Jim defended his late friend.

"G…good." Ada had a very small smile on her face as she stared into the distance, as if in a trance. The silence returned.

A baby's cry could be heard throughout the house and Ada sighed as she stood up, straightening her dress before excusing herself. Jim and Elizabeth, being the curious people that they were, followed her.

They followed her into a bedroom. There was a baby wrapped up in cloths on the bed, crying. They watched as Ada went over, cuddling the baby in her arms. But the crying didn't seem to stop.

"Let me, Mrs. Murdoch." Jim walked forward and took the baby from her hands. He rocked the baby around, lifting him to the air, and back down multiple times. The picture of Jim with a baby looked so right, it made Elizabeth smile.

It didn't take long for the baby to stop crying. He looked up at Jim with curious sea green eyes, which Will once had. The child lifted a hand, touching Jim's cheek as he laughed. Jim's laugh made the baby smile.

"You're good with children. " Ada pointed out. "I had a younger sister." Jim explained with a smile, letting the baby hold his finger in his small hand. "The boy's name is Ewan. Ewan Murdoch."

"I'll leave you two for a while." Ada left the room. "Come take a look, honey!" Jim continued to admire the child. Elizabeth walked over, putting a hand on Ewan's cheek. "He's beautiful." She smiled warmly.

"He has Will's eyes. And straight nose." Jim poked the boy's nose, which made him burst out into a fit of laughter. Elizabeth held Ewan as Jim wrapped him arms around them, lovingly gazing down at both of them.

- Ada -

From the doorway, she watched the three of them. "They look like a family." She thought bitterly. She made up her mind after many weeks of thinking and the opportunity finally presented itself. She hated herself for thinking this way, but she could no longer live this way.

- 1 week later -

Ada had been gracious enough to let them stay in her home. One morning, Elizabeth woke up to the sound of Ewan crying. She went round the house looking for Ada, but there was no sign of her at all. She woke Jim up to look for her as well but it was futile.

Elizabeth picked the baby up and rocked it in her arms as Jim found an envelope on the pillow. Jim quickly opened it and skimmed through the contents and was shocked at what he found out.

"H-honey?" He called out. Elizabeth turned to look at him, nodding for him to continue. "Ada…Ada left. She's not coming back." Elizabeth walked over to him and looked at the letter. "That's…what about Ewan?"

"She said that she'll leave him in our care. And that she's extremely sorry."

Elizabeth clenched her fist and closed her eyes. "I can't believe her. Why did she leave in the first place?"

"Ada couldn't bear to watch Ewan grow. He would turn out looking exactly like Will and she couldn't bear to re-live the period of grief she'd been through, if she was right. She loved Ewan, she really did. But it was too hard for her." There was a pause.

"So now what?" Elizabeth asked him. "I guess we have no choice but to take Ewan with us to Santa Monica."

END

That's it folks! That's the last chapter! Thank you all so much for sticking with me throughout this emotional journey! I should've finished this by 14 April but I was too lazy busy. This story is the first I've really felt so passionately for, it's like my baby ;) So many times I've wanted to give up, your lovely reviews kept me so inspired and some even made me cry. Also, bet you all didn't think I'd bring Will's wife into this, didn't you! Yeah, well, I had an idea that would help the sequel so this just worked out perfectly for me :) Anyway, off topic, this story means so much to me and I never thought that anyone would take a chance on me but the responses were so overwhelming. I'm so thankful and so grateful and I hope that all of you will be happy till the sequel comes out!

Now to thank the people who left reviews! Thank you to rebeccajoleneaumanwilson and Chloe for your reviews!

rebeccajoleneaumanwilson: Thank you for your review! That request will have to be considered in fairness of everyone else but I will think of it! Rebecca is a nice name :) Thank you for your support of the sequel and I wish you and your family all the best till then!

Chloe: Thank you for your review! You have no idea how happy I am that you miss Bonnie :) Jim crying made me cry as well. It must've been so scary, especially if you weren't a passenger and one of the crew members. The Harry in my story doesn't want kids because he loves the life of a bachelor. Sure he loves Clara, but he had to give up his life of free wandering and breaking hearts to stay with her and kids would just be more commitment, something I didn't want him to be a big fan of. I wish you well until next time!

To everyone , I hope you all enjoyed the story as well! Have a nice day and review if you liked the chapter! :D Ta-ta till next time!
