Hello! So here's the next chapter of Snow White Angel! Disclaimer: Nope! Don't own a thing! Okay onward!
Unravel
Like a moth to a flame Jack was at her side in an instant-something the guardians were quick to notice. Bunnymund's ears pricked up in interest, North studied the girl, stroking his beard in a contemplative way. Tooth's eyes widened at the sight of her, a small smile tugging at her lips. Dark brown hair-almost black fell in waves down her back. Pale skin, lips red as red can be... ' Snow white. it fits.' Was the first thought to cross the toothfairy's mind. North arched his brow as Jack's hand slipped into her's sending her a comforting smile. ' Jack is comfortable with girl, da? Jack is usually always so wary of newcomers. Makes sense... Was alone for long time-contact of any kind is new to boy. But this young lady...' North smiled as she nervously tucked back her hair. ' She is special.' " Um...Hi. I'm Snow White." She couldn't hold back the nervous giggle that accompanied her name. " I'm sorry. It just sounds so silly." Bunnymund shook his head and scoffed good-naturedly.
" Ah, don' worry yer' pretty little head, Sheila. I think the frostbite actually had himself a good idea. E. Aster Bunnymund, milady." Jack huffed as he took her hand to kiss it lightly. Snow snickered when Aster let slip his nickname for Jack. She liked it. Maybe she should start using it. ' Heh, heh...Frostbite.' Snow bowed to him politely. Toothiana darted over to her and was the next one to take her hand and shake it enthusiastically. She began talking to the new girl speaking rapidly as excitement stole over her. It was a challenge for Snow to grasp and retain everything she was saying.
" Hi there, Snow White. Jack's told us about you-but he didn't tell us you were so pretty! Oh my gosh I can't believe it- a ghost right here in the north pole. Oh I'm sorry maybe I shouldn't have said it that way but I really do wanna help you dear, and you must tell me where you got this dress I love it! And I like your smile! Open up!" Before she could blink the tooth fairy had expertly opened up her jaw.
" Uhhh..." Tooth gapsed and let her mouth go, and clapped her hands together.
" You have such a pretty smile." Snow frowned in confusion. Sure she might check out her teeth-she was the tooth fairy after all. Still, she hadn't expected her to be so...energetic. Jack chuckled beside her and she turned to him.
" Yeah, she did that to me too when we first met." Not one to be left out North stepped forward and took one of her hands to clasp in both of his big, warm ones.
" Nicholas St. North, My lady." Then he stood straight and when he spoke he addressed the whole room. " Enough of the pleasantries, da? We have new friend in our midst, and new mission. Find memories and find why she is here!" Aster smirked as he inspected his claws through the fur sending Jack a pointed stare.
" Yeah, don't that sound familiar." Jack rolled his eyes at the pooka, scoffing good-naturedly. Yes it was true, some years ago Jack was in the same situation: Looking for his memories to discover why he was here. Toothiana nodded eagerly and flew to the front of the group talking at lightning speeds.
" I'll send Baby Tooth to my palace right away! No-we need at least seven sisters to help!" At her command seven tiny versions of herself darted to her side. So these were tooth fairies... Snow smiled as one of the fairies flew to Jack and nuzzled his cheek affectionately. Jack smiled at her and pet her head gently.
" Hey, Baby Tooth. This is my friend, Snow White. Wanna say hi?" The fairy chirped at him then flew over to Snow White watching her curiously.
" Hello." She said. Baby Tooth chirped happily at her and bowed. Snow held out her hand and the fairy and the little one fell gracefully in to her palm. Her feathers were surprisingly soft to the touch, tickling her palm like newborn kitten fur. Jack nudged her with his elbow.
" She likes you." She turned to Jack and held the little fairy higher for him to see her better.
" Friend of yours?" A nod. Multiple chirping sounds drew their attention as six more fairies clamored around their mother, all eager to help. Tooth addressed the fairies talking fast and issuing commands. To Snow she almost sounded like a military officer.
" All of you to the library! Check the vaults and the new arrivals! Anyone with Snow White's description! Look into the memories of any one recent! If anyone mentions Snow White in their memories let me know! We need those teeth STAT!" Baby Tooth flew from her hand to join her sisters. The tiny tooth fairies saluted Toothiana then shot off like seven bullets out of the room. North clapped his hands laughing boisterously as they watched the fairies fly away.
" Very good, Tooth! We have mystery solved soon! So now we work! I will find information in library! Sandy and Bunny? You babysit." Now it was Bunnymund's turn to scoff as he shook his head at North.
" Heh. Not on yer nelly. I've got more pressi'n things ta do than watch Jack flirt with Snow." Jack jolted, surprised by the comment and let go of Snow's hand to strideo over to the pooka.
" I am not flirting!" He hissed, gritting his teeth. Aster chuckled as Snow bit her lip to keep from laughing.
" Yeah ye are!"
" Am not!" Snow watched them all with interest. It was fascinating-and amusing the way they all interacted with each other. They were all like one, big family. Santa-North...seemed to be the leader of the group. The Father figure. Tooth would have to be the Mother then, with her caring nature and near hen pecking care for her friends. Especially their teeth. Bunny and Jack bantered like brothers with snide remarks and poking fun in general. And Sandy? Perhaps he was the uncle: An authority figure who was able to sit at the sidelines and observe quietly, then give help, advice and care to whomever needed it. It was nice. Suddenly a wave of dizziness overtook her. The room seemed to swim before her eyes, the world turning from balance to tilt. She grasped the banister behind her, trying to calm her breathing. Her chest felt tight as if someone was squeezing her from behind. A touch of ice and a rough shake brought her back. Jack was gripping her shoulder eyes tight with worry.
Snow blinked as the world seemed to focus itself again. The guardians were watching her. Tooth seemed to hover defensively as if prepared to catch her. North looked surprised and Aster's ears were back, his body not as relaxed as before. ' What... What was that?' " Snow? Are you okay?"
" I'm not...sure." She said slowly. She felt fine. Her vision was in focus again and she could clearly feel Jack's hand on her shoulder. North sighed and stepped forward.
" This had been long evening. You rest now, da? We will take care of rest. Jack! Show her to guest room, please."
" Sure." Jack's hand moved from her shoulder to her hand, and she grasped it gently. She took a step-then had to grab on to his shoulder for support. She suddenly felt very, very tired. Her legs didn't seem to want to obey her. Jack wasted no time. He scooped an arm under her knees and lifted her bridal-style in to his arms. Snow Blushed, embarrasses to be seen like this in front of a room of people. Aster's wolf-whistle didn't help either. " Shut up." Jack grumbled. She smiled and gave a small wave to the guardians.
" It was nice to meet everyone. I'll see you tomorrow?" Toothiana smiled kindly at her and nodded.
" Of course, sweetheart. You just rest." She didn't need to be told twice. Jack carried her down the spiraling walkway down two levels as she rested her head on his shoulder. This was nice. The scent of frost and pine and something wholly unique filled her nostrils as she breathed in Jack's scent. one may have to wonder what she would have thought if she knew Jack was doing the same thing. She felt so light in his arms. He could smell the faintest traces of perfume on her-something sweet, but not overpoweringly so. Honeysuckle and roses, if he had to guess. They made their way down the levels to the living quarters, a series of rooms where the yetis, elves and even North stayed. And it wasn't uncommon for the guardians to use one of the many spacious rooms when meetings ran overdue or when Jack himself looked for a place to rest. He knew he could always crash here if he needed a place to sleep. ( He had been extremely uneasy asking Nicholas the first time, when the spring and summer months had come. But in the few years he had come to know the man he felt more and more at home here.)
This was where he decided to take her. His unofficial room. The walls were painted a deep blue with gold and silver spirals weaving shapes around the wall's edges. A large bed with a blue velvet canopy dominated most of the room. A dark cherry wood wardrobe stood proudly across from the bed. The window was large and curved inward, a plush velvet grey seating area built in around this small alcove. One could easily sit there to watch the snowfall outside or the northern lights that played with the sky. Gently, Jack lowered Snow White down on the bed as she released her hold on him. " Jack?" She asked tiredly. Already she could feel sleep dragging her under it's influence.
" Yeah?"
" Would you...stay with me...until...I fall asleep?" He smiled softly at her and reached out to rest his hand on top of her's.
" Sure. I'll be right here." It was unknown to him if she had heard his promise. For her eyes had fluttered closed even before she had finished speaking, and she was remaining silent now. But that didn't matter. He was going to stay with her. Unable to resist Jack stroked her long black tresses then walked over to the window. He hopped onto the plush sill of the window as agile as an imp then seated himself comfortably against the window. He drew his legs to his chest and held his staff one hand as it rested on his shoulder. This was where he stayed until Jack himself eventually fell asleep.
It was happening again. He could feel his body tighten as agitation and an unnamable need filled his chest. He was coming down from his high. And oh...how exotic and exciting it had been. But he knew the next one would have to be more creative. They had found death fast in the beginning. It began with his high school girlfriend. She had been everything any boy could have asked for. She was seventeen, she was blonde, busty, and the cheerleading captain of their high school. Always dressed in her white and green cheerleading uniform, a silver ribbon on her ever-present ponytail. Tess Newman. He remembered her name. He always had the strangest habit of remembering them. The sounds of their voices, their names, the feel of their bodies as they made love...if you can call it that. He loved it. But he always had to have something-some tangible reminder that they had been real. That any of it had been real.
The first time it happened, he was eighteen years old. They were in the backseat of her parent's car. Borrowed, of course for a " study session." Biology. The study of the human body and how it worked. How to make it...react. So it wasn't a lie. They'd made love in the backseat, and it had been so glorious. The taste of her cherry scented perfume on her skin, the feel of himself sliding in and out of her. The rush of their combined orgasm. But he couldn't get enough. Once just wasn't enough! He kept ponding in and out of her despite her cries-which had turned from wanting to painful-to stop. She slapped him mid-thrust. He didn't like that. He didn't like that at all! So he did what he thought would be appropriate for the situation: He strangled her.
The clawing of her hands on his, the way her body bucked under his as he rode her had been so exhilarating. And when he was finally done Tess Newman was dead. Even in death she was still his dream. Unable to help himself he gently tugged at the silver ribbon, always present in her hair...then tucked it in to the right pocket of his jeans. He had to make it look like it was a double attack. No one could know it was him! So after he had dressed, he got out of the car, searched the ground until he found a simple stick. He broke the wood to a sharp point. Then, with a deep breath he stabbed himself in his left thigh. Screaming he slammed his head down on the pavement then hobbled down the road until a passing truck slowed to a stop. To the boy white with pain and fear, his forehead bruised and bleeding and his leg nearly soaked in blood.
The official story was that while he had been making out with his girlfriend a ski-masked stranger had pounced on the couple, demanding money. They had none! So enraged he had stabbed him first, then raped his girlfriend. And killed her. He had tried to stop him! Honestly! But he was too hurt and the stranger was just too strong. He fled as quickly as he had come in the dark of the night. The sympathy. The attention to his traumatizing story. The wonder at his survival. He basked in it all with tear-filled eyes and the act of a wounded heart. But the truth had been so, so much more exciting. Wouldn't you agree?
Jamie Yawned hugely as he shuffled down the school hallway. He'd been up late last night trying to remember Snow White. Her image was one that refused to leave his mind. He knew he had seen her somewhere before. But always just when he would begin to remember any recognition of her would fade away. God it was driving him crazy! And today had just plain sucked. Because he had been up late he hadn't slept, so because he hadn't slept he had not been in the mood or form to pay attention in any of his classes. And on top of all that he had even fallen asleep during science class-which had earned him lunch detention when he couldn't come up with a viable excuse. ' It's not like I can say: " Sorry I fell asleep in class. I was up late trying to help my friend Jack Frost remember his friend who's lost her memory and only we can see!" Yeah... Just go ahead and lock me in the looney bin, why don't ya?' Jamie had been so caught up in his thoughts that he wasn't paying attention. So he was totally unprepared when his body collided with another's and two people were sent stumbling to the ground. His senses properly returned to him Jamie scrambled to his knees...then his face flushed in embarrassment. A pretty girl with wavy light brown hair sighed from where she sat on the floor, her expression one of both irritation and resignation.
Further embarrassment. It was a girl named Molly Holloway-one of the prettiest girls in his school and Jamie's secret crush. ( Not that it made him special: Nearly every boy in school had a crush on her.) Jamie hastily stood up and walked over to her side. " Uh, hey Molly! Gosh I'm sorry about that. I've been just a spaz today-not a lot of sleep last night but I'm working on it so..." He was rambling. Geez, he hated it when he did that. He sounded so dumb! He huffed out a nervous breath and then bent down to pick up her books. " Well, sorry." He finished lamely, handing Molly her history book. Molly shrugged nonchalantly and offered him a small smile. Though it didn't reach her eyes in the least.
" It's fine. Honestly, it's been one of those days. And... I'm not sleeping much either." She took the book from his hands and together the two teens stood up. Molly held her book and notebooks close studying his face. " Hey, do I know you?" Jamie smiled at her in pleasant surprise. She remembered him? ( Maybe?)
" Sort of. I'm Jamie Bennet." She only stared back, no hint of recognition in her doe-like brown eyes. He shoved his hands into his jean pockets as awkward silence filled the air between them. " We have science together...?" He hinted, hoping. Her lips formed an ' O' and she nodded.
" Oh yeah, you sit two rows away from me, don't you?"
" Yeah. And I think we have lunch period together too." She only offered a nod to this other piece of information. Not that he expected anything. It wasn't like they hung out together, to his disappointment. Molly adjusted the books in her arms and looked up at him.
" So, why are you not sleeping?" Jamie hesitated before answering her.
" I... I'm just...dealing with some stuff. Trying to help out a friend of mine." Well, that wasn't a total lie. " What about you? Why aren't you sleeping either?" Molly breathed deeply then let out a shaky breath. She bit her lips, as if debating with herself.
" It's family stuff." That seemed to be all she was willing to say. Before he could inquire further the bell rang signaling the beginning of another class. As the students began pouring out in to the hall Molly lightly rolled her shoulders and held up a hand. " Well, I'd better go. See you around, Jamie." He nodded once as she turned around and began walking away. Feeling suddenly much bolder than usual Jamie called out to her.
"H-Hey Molly!" She turned around. " If you need to talk about stuff...Well, I can listen. If you want." God he sounded like such a dork! Seriously?! That was the best he could come up with?! Molly sent him a small smile and waved to him, then turned around and disappeared in the sea of students. It was then that the information hit him like a tidal wave. A flash of memory-Molly and Snow White laughing together outside of the school gates. She was dressed in dark blue jeans with a matching denim jacket, a simple grey shirt in underneath her jacket. Her hair was pulled back in a ponytail, thrown over her shoulder by the wind. Molly ran in to her arms and the girls embraced tightly. " Hey, Miss Molly!" That was it! That's where he'd seen Snow White before! She was...Molly's...babysitter? Friend? He knew she definitely knew Molly. Or used to. ' Snow White can't remember anything about her old life. That means she probably doesn't remember Molly.' He felt sorry for the both of them. It was obvious to him they had been close. Molly had said she was dealing with family stuff. Did it have to do with Snow?
" It's not like I can just ask her. Something tells me it's a little too personal."
" You know one of the surest signs of insanity is talking to yourself?" Jamie jumped and turned to his right. Monty and Pippa both stared at him, smiles playing on their faces as his own flushed in embarrassment.
" Hey, guys. What's up?"
So how did you like it? Snow and Jack are definitely getting closer! :) Sooo...how many girls has our killer felled? And who was Snow White before she died? Answers to come in the next chapter! ( But not all! I know: I'm evil. :p) Please R&R and bless your happy happiness!
