Chapter Seven – A ghost
The moon's glowing red tonight. She can't feel the wind. It's too quiet.. too peaceful... It makes her uncomfortable. She stared at the glowing red full moon.
She's at the rooftop of that building.
She heard someone opened the door.
"What are you doing there? Get down. That's... dangerous."
She turned around and looked at the young man walking towards her.
"It's not dangerous. It's the opposite. Can't you see I'm having fun?"
The young man stop walking and stared at her face.
"Then.. why are you crying?"
"Tears of joy?"
"That tears wouldn't be joy when you fall from there."
"What would it be then?"
"Tears of..."He looked away as if remembering something then looked again to her, "..pain.?"
"You're not funny... What's your name?"
The man shrugged and looked away.
"Dunno."
"You didn't know?" She frowned.
"Long story."
"How long was it?"
"Amnesia."
Shit.
She almost slip and fall. Luckily, this guy has faster reflexes.
Now, she knows how scary it is. To feel the so called pain.
"A friend?"
Lacus looked at Cagalli as she turned off the call.
"Ah... yes. She's ust asking for a favor."
"..." Cagalli looked at the frame, "Won't you stay the night here?"
"Sure!" She smiled.
Silence... Both of them stared at the frame.
"Lacus..." Cagalli broke the silence, "I've been wanted to ask you this."
"What it is?" She stared at Cagalli curiously. Cagalli had begun to fidget. She glanced at Cagalli.
"I've been aware of this fact for a while... I mean.." Cagalli paused, "Lacus, would it be possible that my brother was still alive?"
"Huh!?" She was astonished.
Other than her, Cagalli also still believe that Kira was alive.
She tried to control his tears.
"How could you say that? We confirmed it right? It was Kira's body... With the data we have in Arch angel. It matched!" Lacus said as she bit her own lips, "So... why does we keep on hoping for a miracle?"
After months of waiting for Kira, a dreadful news came to them. An underground bar was burnt into a crisp. Inside there police found a pile of burnt dead bodies. Died from suffocation. There was only one entrance there. And it was totally sealed because the cause of fire started there. At the entrance.
In that pile of dead bodies was the body of Kira. They didn't believe it so they double check it and it was a perfect match to Kira's data.
Whose fault it is? They didn't know. They can't blame anyone. Because the owner of that bar also died there.
"You do believe... huh." Cagalli murmur.
Silence...
She tried to break this gloomy atmosphere by telling a pun.
"Cagalli... someone said that when a pregnant woman would always frown, the child would be ugly." Lacus said with a serious looked.
"Where did you get that joke?" Cagalli asked.
"The girl who call a while a go."
"Tell her to go die."
"Cagalli... Don't say bad words it will affect the child."
"Lacus... that's really lame."
They looked at each other when they heard Athrun and Dearka's voice.
Kira run upstairs where he hears Asagi shout. He saw the children crammed in front of Asagi's locked bedroom. They looked scared as they cling to each other.
"What's going on?" He asked Mayura, who keep on knocking the door.
"I d-didn't know. I-I'm with the kids. Preparing them to sleep when we heard Asagi slammed the door and then... we heard something crash and Asagi cursing."
"Asagi?" He knocked on the door. No one answer. He looked at the kids who were trembling. Scared.
Kira looked at Mayura and sighed.
"Let me handle this bring them to their room. Stay there with them okay?"
Mayura lead the kids to their room. He knocked on the door. No one answer.
"Asagi?! What's going on there? Are you okay?" He keep on knocking on the door while turning the doorknob. "Asagi, opened the door."
He glanced at his room opposite the room which Asagi and Aisha used. He run at his bedroom and took the spare keys in the drawer of his bedside table.
He hurriedly tried to open the door with the spare keys. He was using the third key when he saw Audrey panting as she run closer to him
"Kir, what happened?"
"Don't know."
"I saw someone running away from our house. I got scared and followed you hear."
"Someone...?"
He still want to ask Audrey when from the fifth key the door opened. He took his One-Hand German Army Knife from his pocket.
"Are you planning on peeling something?"
He heard Audrey say that but he didn't comment.
He prepared himself to defense as he opened the door and switch on the lights in the room. The first thing he saw as he enter the room was the scattered broken glass. He saw that the glass of the door that leads to the veranda was broken.
He looked more around the room.
"Asagi?" He asked.
He frowned as he walked and searched the whole place. No ones inside. He lowered his defense. The whole room was such a mess.
"Where's Asagi?" Audrey asked who stayed in front of the door. Audrey kept on brushing her own arms as she observe the whole room from where she's standing.
He went in the veranda and checked if there's anyone outside. He saw a set of footprint in the sand.
Was it from the man Audrey saw a while?
He was about to jump and trail the footprint. It wasn't too high and he can manage to do it. When suddenly Audrey shriek. He run to her and saw her sitting and panting while staring at someone.
"What happened?"
"Kira...?"
Kira frowned as he saw Asagi looking at her. Asagi was wondering as she looked to Kira and then to Audrey who was sitting in the floor. Her eye widened when she quickly turned her head to see the mess on what happened to her room.
"What happened here?"
"Shouldn't we asked you that?" Audrey frowned as she stand up.
Asagi just stared at them mouth opened. He notice that Asagi was sweating and panting. But he didn't pay it much attention.
"Audrey. Call the police. We should report it to the police."
"But it's true! It's true! I see her enter that room. She run fast and looks scary."
Kira sighed as he listened to the animated story telling of Gerard. They gather around at the dining room. Eating they're breakfast.
Aisha, Asagi, Mayura and Audrey was still upstairs. Looking around at the now messed up bed room of Aisha and Asagi. It's already in the middle of the night when the police came. When they check last night there's seems nothing loss except the room were looked like have been struck by the tornado. A really total mess.
Just what are they doing? They're taking too long.
He rested his cheek on his fist as his elbow was leaning on the table. He closed his eyes as he sighed. He looked once again to Gerard as he stir his coffee.
"She looked like Sadako! Her hair was messier." Gerard added.
"I only saw a black hair running." Auel comment.
"Me, I only saw a white dress." Frederick added.
"Because.. she run faster! That's why you only saw that. All of you weren't looking at the door 'cause you're scared that a ghost might show up which is impossible." Gerard angrily said.
"Maybe the one you saw was a ghost?" Kira asked.
"No! It's not a ghost! It's really Asagi I saw. And you are big! You still believe in ghost? There's no such thing as ghost!" The way Gerard talked was too mature for his age.
Hearing what Gerard says and footsteps. He looked at Audrey who just entered the dining room with Aisha, Mayura and Asagi. Sagi raised a brow.
"There's no such thing as ghost..." He repeated that earned him a glared from Audrey
"What is scary is scary." Audrey stated before she pulled a chair across him and sit.
Looks like she heard what Gerard says. Anyone in the house would here it because Gerard has a loud voice.
Aisha and Mayura followed. They pulled a chair and sit. He glanced over at Asagi who remained standing. She looked like she was lost in thought and mumbling something.
"So, is there something missing with your things?" He asked as looked directly at Asagi and sip a coffee. "Asagi?"
"Huh!?" Asagi was surprised too hear her name. She looked at me and then she immediately looked away, "Nothing... It just some of my... homework was teared apart."
Asagi pulled a chair beside Aisha stared at the food that was laying on the table.
He felt that Asagi was really hiding something. She seems listless after what happened last night. He tried to ask her but she remained silent all the time when the police came.
"How about you Aisha?"
"My pencils multiply!" Aisha grin.
"Multiply?" He frowned.
"It was broke into two." Audrey answered.
"Hah... Is anything valuable lost?" He sighed and asked one more time.
"I don't lost anything, really." Aisha immediately answered.
"Asagi?" He asked one more time for confirmation.
Asagi just shook his head as she took a cup of hot chocolate, blow the steam and take a sip.
He sighed. He's having an headache. Where could be Red when they needed him? Speaking of Red..
"By the way, where's Red? I haven't seen him..."
"Huh!? You didn't know?" Audrey raised a brow as she took a piece of bread.
He shook his head.
I won't ask if I knows right?
"You weren't listening, huh... He left last night after dinner. Some trouble with some stuff..."
"Do you have anything to do with that?" He asked suspiciously.
"If there's trouble it's my fault, already?" She glared at him.
"Just asking..."
"Hmp..!"
He wince when he felt that pain in his leg especially in the bone. He looked at Audrey who was still throwing her dangerous glare to him. Audrey kicked him.
He just shook his head as he simply massage the part where Audrey kicked her.
Seems Audrey remember something as she looked at the kids and asked or their attention.
"Attention kids! By the way, the script to your play... Let's redo it."
"Why!?" The kids chorused.
"Cause like the pencil.. It multiply!" Audrey happily said as she copied Aisha.
The dining room became too noisy.
"Here it goes. It's starting." He murmur.
He's used to it. The noise and ruckus everyone's doing. He looked away and stared outside the window. He can see the ocean from the there. Calm. Unlike the people here.
He was thinking whether who was the one who broke in last night and his/her reason. And like what Gerard said. Gerard did saw Asagi entered the room last night. But no ones inside and Asagi was outside the room.
Kira lost in thought. He didn't hear that the door bell ring and how Mayura exited the room to looked who's outside.
Ah.. what could be Lacus doing right now? He haven't seen her for a while.
He was still staring outside the window and sipping his coffee when his head suddenly turned to looked at the door.
"Hello!?"
Speaking of the devil!
But, the one who was standing at the door wasn't a devil but more like an angel. Standing there was none other than Lacus. Smiling as she wave at them. Her pink hair were to noticeable and her vibrant smile. He almost choke from drinking the coffee.
Lacus was sitting in the veranda while drinking pineapple juice and looking at a paper. It was a written report of one of the crew of Arch angel. It seems someone a few years ago messes up the database of the ship. No one notice it. If for not Athrun who checked on something, they wouldn't notice it. There's only a slight changes. Who did it was a genius. A slight changes. But a very important information. The culprit doesn't means harm but tried to conceal something.
It was the information that Cagalli found out that Athrun tried to conceal for months. But accidentally Cagalli got a hold of it. Cagalli kept silent about it and doesn't want to tell it to Athrun.
Is Cagalli dumb? Or was it Athrun. Speaking of Athrun... he really doesn't know the word jealousy?
Where could be Kira going back then? It was still a mystery to them.
They weren't on a good terms back then. A cold war between them was going on. And when she ask him. He just said "a secret".
She smirk then sighed. She put down the paper and looked at the ocean. Kira's favorite sight. It doesn't hurt anymore like these pass years.
Was it because there's a possibility?
She really missed his voice and his habit.
She heard someone shouted her name. She looked around and saw at the nearby villa. Audrey waving at her.
"Lacus! Get here faster!"
What the ruckus? OMG! What happened?
She narrowed his eyes. That room where in a total messed.
She mouted, "what happened?"
Audrey shouted her, "Long story!"
She's back!
"Hey Are you okay?"
She was lying on the floor after the almost near life death. He heart was beating fast. She glanced at the boy sitting on the floor. The boy who doesn't have any memory. She like it. That brown hair of his. It reminds her of his brother.
"I am.." She answered as she stared at the sky, "The sky... the stars... looks like a Christmas lights. Glowing"
"..."
He's really not a good companion.
"Don't you know your name?"
"..."
"Okay... Nice talking."
A strong wind passed by...
"-ra."
She looked at the man and frown. Did he say something?
"Huh!?" She frowned.
She can't properly hear because her heart was still beating fast.
"-ra.."
"Come again? Did you say something."
"..ra."
"Louder!"
"In my dream... someone called me... Kira"
The man, he called himself Kira looked at the sky.
What a coincidence. Both of them had the same name. She smile bitterly and let her tears flow. After a while, she made a conclusion and stand up.
"Then.. I'll call you Kira."
Silence...
Awkward...
They just watched the stars glowing. The creepiness of the night has long gone.
Okay.. I just read the review..
