Chapter 10
My eyes widened and so did everyone else's who were watching us. HOLY CRAP, he is going to fall out of the float. Everything turned into slow motion.
I reached out to grab his hand and-
*THUD*
Okay, It has been two days since that incident happened and I have to admit that I feel really guilty… Because of my dreadful kick, it caused the creepy giant to fall out of the float, giving him a serious sprain on his right ankle. I hate myself… I didn't mean to kick him out of the moving vehicle, it's just that he was getting really annoying. And what's worse is that I wasn't able to reach him in time. But I guess if I really did reach him then I would have fallen out with him since my small body could never really hold his weight.
The creepy giant laid flat on the cold pavement. A look of surprise was written all over his face. It was really obvious that he was stunned and with such a really big and loud thud like that, it must have hurt very badly. I thought he would cry like a child that time, but luckily, he didn't.
The first one to come to our (or more like his, I was standing there almost like in a daze of what I have done) aid was hito-nii. She helped the purple giant sit up and shot me a Don't-just-stand-there-help-me look in which I anxiously obeyed. Luckily for us the whole basketball regulars were there to help us lift Murasakibara-kun and send him to the clinic.
Right now, I am walking towards that creepy giant's house. School has finally ended and here I am, carrying a plastic full of junk foods and sweets just for that creepy giant as a compensation for what I did… Geez, now I'm playing the role of a babysitter. He is absent today because of his injured ankle so I just decided to pay him a visit.
To my surprise, his house was just 3 good blocks away from mine (You could say that we are neighbors). Well not that I wanted that to happen, I just found out a couple of weeks ago when he, once again, rang our doorbell, carrying a gift basket (in which he says was from his mom). I was the one who answered the door and in response made me spray all of my milk in my mouth in front of him.
Going back at the matter at hand, I finally made it to his house. I rang the doorbell but later realized that no one was around. I guess the creepy giant's parents don't come home until 7 in the evening. But I wonder where his siblings are… Maybe they are not home yet too…
I tried turning the knob gently and unexpectedly the door wasn't lock. I pushed the wooden door open and entered quietly. I feel like I'm trespassing their premises though… but heh, that creepy giant sneaks into my house as well so I bet he wouldn't mind. And like a cat, I stealthily got inside, and closed the door behind me.
"May I help you?" a voice surprisingly spoke out of the blue and you can tell that the sound of it belongs to a female.
My whole body froze and a chill went down my spine. I couldn't gather up courage to face the figure behind me. Just great… Now I really do look like a trespasser… Entering their home without permission, how rude… that was a really nice move Kasumi, you deserve yourself a facepalm…
"uh…uhm… I…" was all the words I can muster while shakily holding the doorknob.
"Hm? What's that?" the figure was slowly approaching me, I can feel it… She's so intimidating…
I heaved a huge sigh and gathered the balls to face her, even how embarrassing it might be.
"Hontou ni gomenasai![1]" I said as I frantically performed a 90 degree bow. The person stopped dead on her tracks, as if she didn't expect that from happening.
"I-I thought that nobody was around… s-so… I just decided to-"
"Hahahahaha!" she immediately chuckled heartily like I was a clown or something. I looked up to the laughing figure. She had long purple hair framing her face that hang until mid-arm… She looks so pretty… and she's tall too… I assume that this is the creepy giant's older sister.
"I-it's haha, okay haha… " she said, trying to stifle her laughter.
"uhm… is everything alright?" I asked quite shyly, but deep inside I was a little irritated, why is she laughing? Did I do something wrong? Is there something stuck on my face? I wish she would just tell me…
"haha y-yeah…" She answered as she bent down and held her stomach. "I-it's just that… I never expected Atsushi's kanojo to be this cute…" She finally stopped laughing and approached me.
I felt my cheeks flush at the word kanojo… God, it's that word again… Why do they always mistake me as his girlfriend?! And what's more, I haven't even met the creepy giant's sister so how did she know that I was Murasakibara-kun's kanojo? I-I mean, It's not that I really am his girlfriend anyway…
"I-I'm sorry but I am not Murasakibara-kun's girlfriend…" I said as I looked down… This is so awkward…
"Awwee… you don't have to be shy!" she replied while giving my arm a nudge from her elbow. "You came here for Atsushi right? Come, I'll take you to him~…"
She immediately grabbed my wrist and pulled me giddily towards her direction. She dragged me across the room and up to a flight of stairs. Wow.. their house is quite huge. And she's quite energetic to be that lazy giant's sister… I wonder if they really are siblings…
"Ah, we're finally here…" she said as we came to a halt in front of a purple colored door. She flashed a wide smile before raising her hand to knock on the door.
*Knock* *Knock*
"ngghhh…" someone grunted from inside "What do you want…"
"Atsushi~ I brought your girlfriend with me! She's here to pay you a visit!~" His sister cooed, emphasizing the word girlfriend. A tick mark popped at the side of my head as my eyebrow twitched… seriously…
"…" silence was heard from the other room.
"Atsushi, are you alright? We're going inside okay?"
"…"
His sister just sighed and looked me softly with a contemplating smile plastered on her face.
"Hehe, please understand his laziness…" she sweatdropped as she turned the knob to his room and opened the door. "But I assure you that he has a good side as well…"
Just as soon as I entered his room I let out a huge gasp. Candy wrappers were found almost everywhere. Crumbs of biscuits and junk foods were on the floor and tables, Half-eaten chocolate bars were lying on the bed, lollipop sticks and empty Pocky boxes were pile up at one corner. A trail of ants was found in almost every side of his room… This isn't a room… this is a rubbish hellhole! I can't believe he sleeps in a place like this!
"Atsushi! I just cleaned your room this morning, and look at this mess!" the purple-headed lady said apprehensively.
"Huh? But I got hungry…" Murasakibara-kun whined like a child. He is so childish... But no wonder he acts like one, he is treated like a spoiled brat. He is making his older sister clean his room… Even I can't imagine making Hito-nii clean my room, my conscience would kill me. It is my room therefore it is my responsibility. But this guy, he is just unbelievable…
"*sigh* fine, I'll clean your room but please stop littering okay? The trash bin is just beside your bed." His sister shook her head in disappointment. I shook my head in disappointment as well, mimicking her movements.
She then turned to me and patted my shoulder. "I'll be right back kay? I'll get the cleaning materials…"
"Wait... I'll help you…" I said as I started to follow her.
"Oh no need, it's embarrassing enough making you see such a messy room… I'll handle it myself; just keep Atsushi in company for me okay?"
"ah… okay…" I nodded. She flashed me another smile before leaving and closing the door behind her.
It was silence after that. All you can hear the munching of chips that the creepy giant was making. The crumbs fell onto the floor which made my eyebrows twitch… he's making another mess just right after his sister tells him not to do so… such a brat.
"Oi! Didn't your sister warn you not to make any more clutter?" I said sternly as I was pointing at him.
"huh? She did?" He replied while looking at the ceiling, as if trying to remember
"Matakku[2], you're hopeless…" I answered as I facepalmed…
I walked closer towards the purple-headed giant that was sitting up on his bed and noticed that his right ankle is bruised and the skin was scraped off. Guilt suddenly plagued my mind as I looked at his injury… Gosh Kasumi, you could be so cruel at times.
Murasakibara-kun noticed the plastic bag I was carrying and pointed at it.
"Is that for me?"
"What, this?... uh yeah…" I replied, feeling my face flush. I can't believe I'm giving him treats… And I just realized that the two of us are the only ones in the room… I handed him the bag.
"Uwaaa… this is a lot Kasu-chin…" He commented while raiding the insides of the plastic, his eyes were glimmering with delight. He looks really looks like a child right now; I just can't help but crack a smile. "Arigatou…" he said as he stuffed chips onto his mouth.
He looked up at me and patted the empty space on his bed, signaling me to sit there. I hesitantly obeyed him and sat at his side but I just can't stop myself from blushing… I really don't know what's with me. It might be because of the heat in the room. I just look down hoping he won't notice the change in my face color
My eyes fell upon his injured ankle once again… I feel so guilty right now…
"D-does it still hurt?" I stuttered trying to keep my composure, referring to his injured ankle.
"Eh?..." He looked at his ankle and tried twisting it. He suddenly winced in pain… I guess it's still painful…
"Is Kasu-chin concerned?" he replied coolly with a playful tone as if it didn't hurt at all. He really likes teasing me…
"h-huh? Hey do-don't get me wrong… I-it's n-not like I care for you or anything… It's just that I was… just…just…"
Oh god, I can't make up for an excuse… what's wrong with me…
"Just?" the purple-headed giant continued as he leaned closer to me.
"I-I just…" My mind is practically spinning right now… I feel so pressured with him getting inside my personal bubble… why does he have to lean closer?… I could already feel his warm breath pass by my face…
"…Just...?" He asked further as he leaned even more closely, both his hands gaining hold from the bed surface. Our faces were merely inches apart and his arms were just right pass my waist. My face is burning like hell… just stop this already… my body feels so numb…
The door to the room suddenly swing open and a purple-headed lady went in with the cleaning materials.
"Yosh~ I'm ba-WHAT?" Her speech was cut off right after she saw us. Her eyes widened in surprise that she almost dropped the tools she's holding.
After realizing the position we're in, I instantly bolted up from the bed… Okay, that did just not happen… I'm so dead, now his sister is going to misunderstand me even more…
"Uhm… did I interrupt something?" She asked quite unsurely with a contemplating expression.
"TCH…" I heard the creepy giant behind me click his tongue in annoyance. I just gave him a fiery glare… He's the reason we're in this mess…
"ahaha, o-of course not! Ha..ha..ha.." I denied while laughing rather awkwardly, just to pretend that everything's alright and nothing really did happen.
"oh… are you sure? I can leave you two alone since both of you looked like you were about to kis-"
"I-IT'S N-NOTHING LIKE THAT!" I unintentionally raised my voice at her. Almost immediately, I covered my mouth, I can't believe I just yelled at a senpai, how rude of me…
"I-im sorry! I didn't mean to shout…" I apologized shyly while taking another 90 degree bow.
The creepy giant's sister just blinked in amazement. She approached me and clamped my head gently with a smile, making me look up at her.
"My, my are you alright? You're face is beet red, do you want me to go and get you water?" She asked concerned as she ruffled my hair.
"E-eh? I-I do?..." I asked acting like I'm unaware. Kasumi… of course you're beet red, you've been blushing like hell ever since you got inside this room… You really need to get out of here, FAST.
"I-it's just that uhm…uh I-I need to go to the toilet! Haha.. yes…right… the toilet…"
"Are you really sure?"
"Uh, hai, hai! J-just tell me where it is, and I'll… uhm.. get to it! haha…"
"Well okay…" she replied while cocking a brow at me… I bet she's getting suspicious of my actions.
"The Comfort room is just at the next room to the right… Are you sure you're okay?"
"o-of course I am! Haha… ja ne[3]"
I swiftly exited the room and left the purple-headed siblings. Geez… I really need to find peace in this place…
I followed the directions the creepy giant's sister gave me and soon enough I was in front of Comfort room door. I quickly got inside and locked the door behind me. I leaned to the wall and looked down at the white marble tiles… You're so pathetic Kasumi… Why do you act like that…
I dragged myself across the room and looked around. Their comfort room is much cleaner than that creepy giant's bedroom. If I were to choose were to sleep then I'd rather sleep here.
I walked towards the toilet and did my…erm… business but as I was doing so a cell phone rang out of the blue…
*ring* *ring*
"huh? A call? I thought I left my phone on silent mode…" I muttered to myself as I searched my pocket. I finally grab hold of the gadget and flipped it open, only to see that nobody was calling.
*ring* *ring*
"What? If it's not mine then…" I traced the sound from where it came from and it turns out that there is a purple-colored cell phone on top of the sink countertop.
*ring* *ring*
Uhm… what should I do? Should I answer it? Well it's not my phone anyway… It's better if I don't get involved.
*ring* *ring*
"…"
*ring* *ring*
"…"
*ring* *ring*
"…"
"The person you are calling is busy at the moment, please leave your message after the beep." A monotone operated voice stated right before a beep was heard.
"…Atsushi…" A stern and somehow creepy voice spoke. "I heard that you have a sprain… Does this mean you're not participating in the Inter high preliminaries? How disappointing… It's because of that girl right?"
What is he talking about? Is he referring to me? I got up and flushed the toilet. Slowly, I walked towards the sink where the cell phone is.
"I told you to stay away from her… I don't like her one bit. Nishino Kasumi was it? Don't wait for me to come there and teach her a lesson… *snip* *snip* Meet me at the gym tomorrow… I will give you your punishment there…-beep…beep…beep"
What the heck? Was that a scissor just now? Who the hell was that guy… I went closer to the cell phone and looked at the caller ID
"Akashi Seijuro…" I said to myself. I've never met him before… so how did he know about me? And teach me a lesson he says? I don't know but I have a bad feeling about this…
