What's good, guys? It's AquaRock. Thank you, unknown reviewer for informing me of how I done messed up. Also, Chapter 13 is in development.
"You want me to do what?" Sergio said over the phone.
"I want you to go to Joe Chin's mansion during the daytime, along with one of my colleagues known as Agent Farmer. Both of you will stealthily investigate the mansion for evidence of a military takeover Thursday. We have a link to the general, but he won't accept our claims against Chin's mafia unless we back it up with some evidence. This will occur tomorrow morning," Parappa said. He spoke with Sergio with the untappable phone he received from Scott the same day. It was in the evening of the day where Parappa recruited all of Scott's crew to join them. Parappa sat down in the queen-sized bed in Geoffrey Kat's room, with Sunny lying beside him.
"Ah. Welp, how could I pass up this opportunity? Count me in. When are we doing this mess?"
"Tomorrow morning. You two will meet in the wooded area in the east end of the mansion. Bring a gun. Six o'clock A.M. is when we start this."
"All right. Hopefully, we will get to see some blood along the way..." Sergio said eerily. Parappa knew this was a sign that Sergio wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty, which was positive to a degree, that still wasn't something he heard every day.
The call ended, and Parappa lay down on his side of the bed. He sighed in exhaustion as he stretched and lay on his back, hands folded and rested on his chest. It had been quite an eventful day for the rapdog, from knocking out an ignorant, boorish mouse to witnessing the assault of Ree Porter. He had no idea how the citizens in the North Side of Parappa Town didn't try to capture or kill him for a reward. He simply knew there was a reward for his head, and yet, he still breathed to that moment. Then again, he always knew the local police force had a natural aversion to the north side of Parappa Town. The gangbangers there were too well-equipped for the police to even put a dent in the gangs' forces.
As Parappa thought about it, he then recalled his mother's death. This time, it didn't bring sadness, but a feeling of epiphany. If the cops had an understandable aversion to the north side, then why weren't they so averse to it at the time of Mama Parappa's capture? There was no sign of fear in the cops' features when the event occurred. Of course, it was nighttime when Mama Parappa was arrested, but, with the amount of lightning present in the atmosphere, it wasn't hard to see anything close to the house.
Were those cops working for the mafia as well? Was the mafia still at large ten, eleven years ago? Parappa thought. He shut his eyes as he became immersed in thought. The first time he had even heard of any real-life mafia close to home was in the beginning of this fanfiction, and that wasn't even two months ago when it all started.
He opened his eyes in pleasant surprise when he felt a soft hand touch the back of his. His eyes followed the hand's arm until he found Sunny lying on her side and facing him, reaching her arm out to touch his hand. He smiled at the occurrence, and he received one in response.
"Do you have any idea how this all started, Sunny? About this entire involvement against the mafia?" Parappa asked. Sunny's eyes were lost in thought for a moment before she responded.
"Your guess is as good as mine, Parappa. However, if I had to guess, then I would say it started with the car accident after that one concert at Club Fun. Somehow, you went from being in a car accident to now needing a gun on your hip at all times. And, somehow you got us all involved in this little operation."
Parappa turned to lie on his side to face Sunny. "Did you ever expect anything like this to happen to any of us?"
Sunny chuckled. "No, to be honest. I always thought we were going to live on the east side of Parappa Town, just enjoying the pleasures of uninvolvement with the mafia and relaxing most of the time, with music being the second-most time-consuming activity any of us ever did. I guess fate had different plans for us, eh?"
"I'd believe so. Fate is a strange thing, an unpredictable, sporadic gust that has the potential to be forceful and unforgiving, or tender and loving. I'm seeing an example of both at the same time right now."
"Oh, really? Explain," Sunny said, curiously.
"Well, the forceful and unforgiving part is obviously this current situation, what with the general public wanting me dead. However, the the tender and loving part of fate right now would be you. I'm grateful to fate for bringing me here, at this point and location in time, with you."
Sunny grinned as Parappa opened his hand and held hers. "I don't know how often I tell you this, but, I'm thankful for all that you've done for me. I know it must be difficult to stick around for something as perilous as this. However, the fact you're sticking around for this long almost overwhelms me. I'm honored to be known as your boyfriend," Parappa said.
Sunny's smile became wider, then she laughed as she blushed. "What?" Parappa asked.
"You're making me feel like royalty, is all."
"Well, you deserve it. You are my queen, after all," Parappa replied, moving closer to Sunny as he said this. He reached for Sunny's shoulder and held it affectionately, causing Sunny's heart rate to increase a little.
"I'm honored to be your girlfriend as well, Parappa. Remember when we started dating? On that night, I said I would be here for you. This is a promise I intend to keep, for better or worse."
"I hope this will be for better, then," Parappa concluded. Sunny saw him close his eyes and felt herself being pulled closer to him. Her eyes widened as her lips fondly and suddenly touched Parappa's lips. After a second of surprise, she closed her eyes in pleasure as she puckered her lips in this surprise osculation, rubbing Parappa's chest and shoulders in the process.
. . .
The next morning came about, Tuesday, November 2. It was 5:30 A.M. when the Parappa Posse was close to the wooded area Parappa talked about. Katy was armed with an undercover shades-camera Geoffrey used to have and a tape recorder for any photographic and/or audio evidence of the plan. If anything, the crews needed pictures of any major areas worthy of surveillance to consider for the final plan. They had a spare camera and tape recorder for Sergio just in case Sergio didn't have one on him.
The posse's squad car was parked in a lot near the wooded area. Using her night vision, Katy exited the car and traversed the woods. She was halfway through the forest when she saw Sergio leaning on a tree, waiting for her.
Sergio studied the claws on his right hand as he noticed Katy approach. He made no change in his alert, yet calm expression when he met her. He inspected Katy, and could have sworn he was looking at a mirror image of himself. She had the same clothes as he did, backpack and all.
Katy studied Sergio as well. Bright orange, a little bit of yellow and white fur on his face, bearded, and dark-colored eyes. He wore all black, like she did, except he had a backpack on him. What was in there was a mystery.
"I take it you're the one known as Agent Farmer?" he asked.
"Depends. Are you the one they call Sergio?" Katy snapped back.
"Are you working with Parappa?"
"Are you working with Joe Chin?"
"If I was, you wouldn't be breathing right now."
"Is that a fact?"
"Would you like a demonstration?" Sergio lifted his fists up in a defensive stance. His face looked as though it was hiding something, as if he was actually afraid of what she might do. Katy was about to engage, but then remembered this was the person she was supposed to be working with. Also, there was something oddly familiar about him, from his face, to his voice, to his scent...
"Hold on, I've seen you before...when we broke Parappa out of jail..." Katy recalled tackling Sergio accidentally during that fateful night.
"And when you say 'we,' I hope you mean your crew and our crew together. Remember, if it weren't for us, there wouldn't be any Parappa, or maybe even any of you guys, for that matter."
Katy squinted in annoyance at this "Sergio" guy. "We could have handled ourselves if the worst came to Parappa."
"Then show me. Be an example of your group's independence in the fields of combat and stealth, right here," Sergio cocked his head over to the mansion's direction and started trotting off, his footsteps making no noise as he traveled. Katy sighed in aggravation as she followed. This was going to be a long day for her.
They made it to the edge of the woods, where the mansion was right there in plain sight. It was made of shiny golden bricks, three stories tall with silver catwalks on the outside of the second and third floors. Fifteen windows were visible from the east side of the mansion, five columns, three rows. On the second floor exterior of the large mansion, there was a diving board over a luminescent swimming pool installed in the ground. Both cats noticed the two active lights near the top of the mansion.
The two cats faced the back side of the building, taking cover behind a few bushes to investigate the area. There were two guards present, one standing on the third story catwalk. The other one patrolled the ground beneath him, lazily strolling around the backyard, his revolver sleepily secured in his holster. None of them seemed to expect much, as they had a glazed look on their eyes as they drably smoked Cuban cigars while looking at any position except the wooded area. Both were humans, an Asian one on the catwalk, and a white one on the ground. Both were armed with .44 revolvers and attired in black tuxedos.
"Ha, these guys are making this too easy! Maybe we won't have to kill anyone today, since I brought some tranquilizer darts. It'll be much quieter to knock 'em out than to kill 'em," Sergio said. He pulled out a folding rifle from his backpack and loaded two small darts darts into the feed system.
Where did he get a tranquilizer gun? Katy wondered. She was about to ask when, THWIT! THWIT! Sergio fired two shots, the darts landing in both of the human's necks. In a matter of seconds, the two guards were put to sleep, one of the guards plopping down next to the pool, the other nearly falling off the catwalk and hitting the catwalk rail with a thud.
"All righty, let us continue. It seems like we can get inside that ventilation shaft. Do you have a-" Sergio stopped himself and sniffed. "Yeah, you have a gun, .45 ACP, silenced. Good choice. You might need that once we're inside. If what I'll do is noisy, people won't think to look inside, since they believe there are still two guards out. Once we crawl through the shaft, we'll split up. I don't know what floor the evidence will be in. Just don't get detected, and I think it'll be just fine," Sergio explained.
"Okay," Katy said.
The two cats snuck across the backyard and to the vent. Sergio unsheathed his claws and slashed at the grate. He didn't stop until there was enough room for one of them to sneak in.
"After you, madame," Sergio took one step sideways and gestured toward the vent. Katy squinted in suspicion.
"Age before beauty, sir." She did the same gesture Sergio did. She didn't trust the guy enough to crawl into a tight space and have him right behind her.
Unfortunately, Sergio knew exactly what game she was playing. It turned into a staredown, none of the cats moving their eyes or their bodies. If they kept this up, someone from the mansion was bound to see them.
Katy sighed. She pointed her index finger at Sergio's face and threatened, "Try ANYTHING funny, and it's the last thing you do. Don't forget about the jail incident." She then entered the vent.
"Whatever you say, madame." Sergio's arrogant grin was a facade. In the back of his mind, he could distinctly recall when Katy tackled him. He was completely defenseless as she choked him. His life could have ended right there, and this "Agent Farmer" person wouldn't seem to have any regrets killing him.
As a result, he gave her a wide berth in the vent. After a few turns, they made it to the other end. Katy suddenly stopped when she found another grate in her direction. From the other side of the grate, loud whoops, suggestive comments and catcalls were heard. Loud, bass-heavy music played in the room. Scantily-clad women danced around metal poles, surrounded by gazing men. Fortunately, all the men faced opposite of the vent in the room.
"A strip club. Of course," Katy whispered to herself. Then she thought, Hey, this might be easier for me to sneak around. Since all these guys are being distracted by the bass boost and the good-time girls, they won't hear or see me destroy this grate. Before she destroyed anything, however, she scanned her surroundings more.
The vent led to behind the beer counter. Some men were sitting near the counter, downing their drinks and enjoying the show. The man working at the counter was a short bulldog. The bartender was talking to one of the men sitting there.
"...wait until she gets to the top of the pole, that's how she gets the most money!" A crocodile raised his voice to be audible over the music.
"Don't you mean, how WE get the most money?!" the bartender corrected. Both the croc and the bartender laughed. The bulldog pulled out his cell phone and answered it. "Hello?! Yeah! Yeah, I'm just about to go on break! I wanna make sure things are all right in the kitchen! Yeah, I'll meet you in an hour!" Then, the bartender walked in to the kitchen as he said he would.
The music in the room was too loud for the sneaking cats to speak normally. Even with the earpieces, it was difficult to hear anything if they tried to talk without being noticed by the other people. Katy climbed out of the vent and turned around, looking at Sergio. She made a "stop" gesture with her hand and pointed to her earpiece, signalling for him to turn his on. He understood and activated it. To hide the broken grate, Katy found a cardboard box and slid it over the grate.
Undetected, Katy crept across the bartender's workplace and carefully entered the kitchen, then closed the door. The bartender's back was turned as he inspected the beers, wines and whiskies in the refrigerator.
"Let's see, Jeff's Finest numbers 4, 5, and 6, all in the right quantity, Le Cirque's Regal Wine, 1st and 2nd Editions, all here, and, ooh! Gregorio de la EspaƱa's Numero Veinticuatro, still in great quantity. Looks like everything's all right here."
Katy crouched and quickly but quietly toward the bartender. She equipped her pistol and grabbed it by the barrel. She lifted it up slowly, getting it slightly above the bulldog's head. The bartender had a sense that something was wrong, so he looked back. When he saw an aggressive-looking blue cat dressed in all black and armed with a pistol, he wanted to scream.
WHACK! Katy smacked him in the temple with her pistol. She caught his limp body before it could knock over any bottles. She dragged the bartender over to the refrigerator and made room for him inside. Then, she activated her earpiece and said, "Okay, the coast is clear. Come into the kitchen, Sergeant." In five seconds, Katy witnessed the door open, Sergio at the entrance. Katy directed him to the door on the opposite side of the kitchen.
Katy could sense another guard waiting by the other door. She pointed to one end of the doorway, and Sergio went there and planted his back on the wall. Katy opened the door just a crack to find a big human wearing a full-on tuxedo. It was a bouncer.
He was talking on the phone: "Yeah, I made sure the hallway was clear. Yes, I'll be ready for that meeting at 6:30 this morning. I'm telling you, boss, nobody's gonna come across me and walk out alive. Okay. Thanks, boss." After he hung up his phone, Katy was ready to attack.
She got down on all fours, preparing to attack. In one brisk motion, she opened the door and pounced onto the guard, landing on top of him. The guard's surprised expression didn't stay on his face for long, as Katy quickly jabbed him twice in the face and chopped him in the throat. After dragging him inside the kitchen, he put him inside the same refrigerator the bartender was in.
"Huh, I guess you do know how to take care of yourself." Sergio raised a brow in impression. "I shouldn't have doubted you. Let's inspect the hallway." Both cats looked through the doorway to scan the area.
They looked at a hallway. Soft and expensive-looking carpet covered the floor. Large portraits hung in elegant wooden frames. On the right side, there was a living room with some of the finest upholstery on the chairs, next to a fancy fireplace and a transparent coffee table and an HDTV. It would have been inviting to those not sneaking around in the mansion.
"Okay, here is where we split up. I'll take the left hallway, you take the right, cover more ground. Let's go." Sergio left without saying another word. He traveled up the staircase, looking as though he was about to do business upstairs. Just after he got to the staircase, two bouncers appeared out of nowhere, both dressed in tuxedos. Katy had to move back into the kitchen in order to avoid detection.
Okay, that was strange, those guards appearing as soon as Sergio went to the stairs. Let's see, what can I do in order to avoid detection-She looked at the refrigerator. Yeah, that'll work.
She had the notion of using the bartender's tux, since he was more her size. It was her first time wearing anything this boyish. However, in a situation like this, the gender roles of one's clothes didn't matter.
Locking the door that led to the club, she just barely attired herself in the bulldog's tuxedo, tie hanging over her waist, shirt half-tucked in, and some buttons unbuttoned in the midst of her haste. However, she made sure the sunglasses She got herself clothed in fifteen minutes. Hey, these clothes aren't so bad. Guys have it easy when it comes to formal wear, compared to girls. If I had more time, I'd make things a bit tidier, she thought.
She heard the doorknob jiggle and the door knock loudly when she finisheddressing. "Hey, what's going on in there? We want our drinks!" she heard a deep voice say. Katy found a wooden board and put it under the knob. She exited the kitchen, picking up her backpack in the process.
Katy tried her best to look like a legitimate "bidnessman," a real tough guy when it came to illegal transactions. Knowing a little bit of the mafia's system, if she appeared feminine, they would either kill her or force her to work as a prostitute. She didn't know which was worse.
She swaggered down the hallway, hands clenched into fists, a fake, but convincing scowl on her face, and arms swaying in motion with her legs. As she approached them, Katy studied the two guards to see what they possibly had on them. Both of them had revolvers strapped to one side of their torsos, the other side with speed loaders filled with bullets.
Just long enough for me to get by, Katy thought. Then she spoke with a deeper voice, "Courier service."
The two human guards nodded and let her walk. For two more steps.
"Hey, I don't recognize you. Who are you?" the guard on her right said.
"My first day, just got the invitation letter this morning. As you can see from my clothes, I was in a bit of a rush to deliver the package," Katy explained.
"Oh, a new guy? Well, you must know what we do with new guys, eh?" the other guard asked, cracking his knuckles. Soon, both guards had a malicious look in their eyes, ready to pummel Katy.
Uh-oh. Katy's muscles tensed as she prepared for the worst. The guard on her left acted as though he was going to hit her. His intentions were to fake-hit her and scare her. However, Katy didn't think to expect that, so she dodged to the right and right-hooked him in the ribs. She turned 360 degrees and brought her left elbow up, causing it to knock against the guard's jaw.
Still in combat mode, she turned to the second guard and reached for the revolver in her jacket. She pulled hers out as soon as he pulled his out, with both members pointing their guns at each other.
Katy's trigger finger twitched as the moment rolled on. The guard's face showed contempt at first. And then, he laughed, leaving Katy in confusion.
"He wasn't gonna hit you, man. Don't take it so personal. We do that with every new member. Anyway, the Charlatan's room is upstairs, third floor, second door to the left. And don't forget about the meeting at 6:30 in the second story home theater this morning! Very important!"
Katy slowly brought her gun down, wondering how nobody had gotten shot just then. She turned and continued on her way up the stairs. She checked the time on a hallway clock. It was 6:25, and her pace was fast enough for her to make it to the theater room in time.
She didn't even think about walking to the third floor when she heard a clamor from a room in the hallway. She immediately knew the presentation would be in there. She needed to record video and audio of the presentation. She walked in to find Joe Chin in front of a projection screen, with numerous thugs as his audience.
Katy was surprised at how easily she went inside the presentation room. There weren't any guards inside the room, and it was dark, so she wasn't even noticed by anyone. She put on her camera shades and began the recording.
There was much talking going on in the room. Joe Chin, standing at a pedestal in the front of the room, raised his hand, and everyone went quiet. Then, he began his presentation.
"All right, guys, as some of you may know, in two days we will lead an attack on the local military base. Since we outnumber the soldiers by around five thousand, we should be able to take over their base. Once we do that, there will be no one to stop our plans for running this city," Chin began.
"Uh, Parappa's still alive," one thug said.
"Don't worry, with something like this, Parappa is sure to make a mistake in the process and get himself and all of his friends killed. It's not like he's just gonna go to the military base and tell General Potter about this operation. How would he ever know about this? And by the time he found out, it'd be too late for him. Now, here's the plan."
He explained everything he planned to do. Combined with the SWAT team, they would have much better and more advanced weapons than just .44 revolvers to use against trained soldiers. They would be using carbine rifles for the initial assault, and submachine guns for any soldiers holed up inside. Also, they planned to use the SWAT team's helicopters to aid in this assault.
Katy had gotten enough information for her objective. As everybody got up to leave and wreak havoc for the day, she made her way through the back door again. She took out her cell phone and typed, "I got it. Meet me at back of mansion ASAP." Then, she saw Sergio along with two of Chin's mooks come up the stairs. Sergio pointed at Katy and said, "There she is! Shoot her!" The two mooks and Sergio pulled out their handguns and trained them on her.
Katy, knowing that the first gunshot would alert all of the guards in the nearby presentation room, needed to vanish. She about-faced and turned right on the other side of the hallway. When she began running in this new path, five gunshots hit the wall on her left, barely missing her as she turned. Katy ran faster than she ever had in her life, dashing toward a lone window at the end of the hallway. It was a dead end hallway, if you weren't willing to do something crazy and dangerous.
She was halfway across the hallway before the mooks and Sergio had reached her hallway. After hearing the first gunshot behind her, Katy intentionally fell over and turned 180 degrees to face her assailants. When her back hit the ground, she saw bullets zoom over her head, shattering the window behind her. She pulled out the revolver that was in her suit and pulled the hammer back. She fired three shots at the mooks, one grazing Sergio's shoulder, another penetrating one guard's neck, and the last one lodging itself inside another mook's eyeball. The two guards fell over, quickly dying, leaving only Sergio with a fighting chance.
Sergio had gotten over the shock of being shot and aimed his unsilenced pistol at her again, aiming a bit lower this time. Katy rolled to her left just in time to evade another bullet. She brought up her pistol and aimed for his shooting hand. Katy pulled the hammer and squeezed the trigger and knocked the pistol out of his hand. The pistol flew across the opposite end of the hallway, leaving Sergio bewildered.
Katy took this chance to get back up on her feet and dash toward the broken window at the end of the hall. She jumped through the shards of broken glass across the windowpane and landed on the first story's slanted roof. She gradually slid down the golden roof shingles until she reached the gutters.
She stopped herself at the gutters, not knowing if there were any mafia members waiting for her down there. She aimed her revolver at the window she exited from, expectant of Sergio's return.
Katy stared at the window for thirty seconds, not seeing any trace of him. Then she heard another gunshot, the bullet just whizzing past her torso. She heard the shot at her right, and that was where she found Sergio again. He was on a nearby gablet of the house, while Katy was still at the gutters. Katy aimed her revolver at him and fired a shot. Sergio expected this and moved behind the gablet for cover.
"Why did you turn on me?!" Katy asked with aggression in her voice.
"Simple! I would have you do all of the work of collecting evidence, kill you, take the evidence, and take all the credit of exposing Joe Chin and have the town love ME! It's nothing personal!" Sergio explained.
Tension hung in the air like humidity on a summer day. Here they were in the early morning, where sunlight was minimal, but the danger was high.
"How could you have even told the mafia members to do anything? Were you caught?!" Katy asked.
"Oh, just shut up and die already!"
Katy pulled the hammer back on her revolver, ready to shoot. She got behind the opposite side of the gablet and waited. When she heard footsteps approach her, she leaned over the side and fired.
But there was nobody there for her to hit.
Katy knew there was only one more bullet left in the revolver. She had to make that one last shot count.
She sensed Sergio being on top of the gablet and aimed her revolver up there. Still, there was nobody there. She didn't fire this time, but she knew Sergio was doing something strange. It was almost as if he was getting inside her mind and messing up her senses.
There was another gunshot, but it wasn't as loud as one that occurred outside. It was from a revolver, like Katy's was.
By this point, Katy was stuck. She only had one more revolver shot left. She carried her silenced pistol in her backpack, but she didn't have time to take it out of her backpack with Sergio still a threat. With her senses being out of whack in a dangerous situation like this, she didn't know what to do. She turned back and forth, looking for him. There was still nothing in her sights.
Sergio finally got the sneak on her when her back turned once more. He moved to the top of the gablet and aimed at Katy's head. He smiled with malice and greed.
POW!
...
...
A cat's body fell down the roof, limply skidding across the roof shingles, leaving a blood trail with its bullet wound on its head.
The alive cat turned around, their eyes widening. "What? You're alive!?"
