Mami

Rin's POV

I smiled weakly and waved at the camera. How did I find myself in this situation? I was sitting at an interview, not really remembering how I got here. Oh, wait, now I remember. I had seen the paparazzi retreat from the lounge window then the next day I was told I had an interview because of the juicy facts the paparazzi picked up. I sighed. Perfect. "Alright, so Miss Kagamine," said the interviewer, "word has it that you didn't know anything about your mother until now. Is this true?" I smiled weakly,

"Um, not true. I had known about my mom beforehand, but her death shocked me into forgetting her mostly."

"Aw, I am sorry for your loss." I waved them dismissively,

"No, no it's fine. It was a really long time ago."

"Now, child I think we deserve to know. Who is this proud woman to be the mother of a wonderful girl like you?" I giggled and rubbed the back of my head,

"Um, well, actually." I faced the camera. "Most of you out there might know her quite well." I took a breath. "My mother was the one and only . . . Lily Utada." Immediately gasps were heard from the crowd and even the interviewer and crew. I sweatdropped. "I'm totally serious when I tell you!"

"You know she does sorta look like her."

"Yeah, I can see how they'd be mother and daughter."

"I think you're right! She's telling the truth!" Then everyone started clapping and cheering and I stared in surprise at them all. They all continued to cheer and comment on my mother and I giggled with a bright smile at the room.

Mami's POV

I sat on my bed and watched, with gritted teeth and clenched fists, the interview on the TV. How dare she? I growled as i watched Rin smile as she answered the questions. She honestly had the nerve to ditch her father and return to that place? That place where she's corrupting my Len! Ugh! I screamed in my head as I threw my pillow at the TV. There were hot, angry tears streaming from my green eyes as I clenched my teeth in rage. After her father had kept her under his watchful to make sure she was safe and healthy! It's thanks to me that he saved her in time before her fever killed her so long ago! And this is how she repays us?! I looked at the light that had returned to her eyes. There's no way the principal let her go . . . Not based on my knowledge and I've known him since second grade when I first started school. No . . . she ran away that little bitch . . . She ran away from her troubles again. She ran away from the very person who was doing all in his power to blockade her musical life and save her. My fist tightened until my knuckles turned white. Damn that bitch! Here's her father looking out for her and what does she do?! Disrespect him again by going against his orders! I clamped my teeth on my sleeve to prevent from screaming in rage. Is this my punishment? I wondered as I bent over, the heels of my palms on my pastel white and pink bed cover. Is this my punishment of my actions in the past? I clenched my eyes shut as tears escaped them, then turned the TV off and staggered to the bathroom outside of my room.

I closed the door and locked it and went to my private stash in the back of the cupboard behind the mirror. Reaching in, I grabbed the small razor and sat on the white-tiled bathroom floor. Then, I raked the blade over my wrist, slitting new wounds among, or reopening, old wounds. Tears continued to stream down my face as I bite my lip to stifle my screams of pain and sorrow. I refused my grandmother to come by the sound of my wails. I had lived with her ever since the incidents that left me orphaned. One cut, two, cuts, three cuts, four. Five cuts, six cuts, seven cuts more. Until I see a pool of blood on the white bathroom floor. My hands were were soaked with the crimson liquid and I was beginning to hyperventilate. Suddenly a knock was heard on the door. "Mami-san, are you in there?" I didn't reply which caused more knocking, "Mami-san? Are you alright?" Her voice was rising by the minute in alarm. "Mami-san, open the door!" I couldn't, no, I would never dream of doing so. I just continued to cut and cry and tried to quiet my rapid breathing rate. Suddenly, my vision began to blur. I heard a 'click' followed by a 'thud' which was the sound of my frail, broken body, collapsing onto the tile floor stained by the pool of my own blood. "Mami-san . . . Mami-san!" My grandmother cried as she hurried to my side and began pressing gauze into my cuts. Then, I blacked out.
