Deterioration

Rin's POV

I opened my eyes, sat up, and stretched. The sunlight was pouring into my small room and I realized how late I had slept in. I got out of bed and slid open my white closet door to find an outfit to wear. After much browsing, I dressed into denim shorts and a white T-shirt with a scented orange with an adorable smile. Brushing my short hair, I applied my signature white headband and bow, slipped on my white converse, and hurried to the lounge for my brunch, since it was well past twelve.

"Morning, Rin~!" Miku chirped as she waved to me.

"Morning~!"

"Well, look who's finally awake." Len teased and I playfully bonked him on the head, before wrapping my arm his neck in a friendly strangling hug.

"You're so lucky I love you." He laughed,

"I know, I know." Releasing his neck, I grabbed a blueberry muffin and plopped down between my best friend and my boyfriend.

"So how are you feeling, Rin?" Luka asked.

"Fine, thanks. And you?"

"I'm well." She laughed sweetly. "When we realized the time and you still weren't here, we were beginning to worry you had entered into a sleep like Sleeping Beauty." Len tickled me.

"Well she is a Sleeping Beauty, Luka." I laughed and tried to push away his hands and, finally, got him to stop.

"So what's on the agenda for today?" I asked with a smile.

"I have to record a song." Kaito said as he sat next to Miku with his arms folded behind his head.

"I was planning on practicing my katana skills." The purplette announced as he put his apple core on his crumb-covered plate.

"Luka and I were going to get our nails painted." Miku frowned. "We would have invited you, Rin, but you were still asleep and we didn't know if you had any other plans." I waved my hand with a smile.

"Nah, don't worry about it~! I'll probably clean up my room a little bit~. Some little dust bunnies are starting to nest~." I giggled and the girls did as well.

"Are you sure?" The tealette diva asked to which I nodded.

"Uh-huh! Don't worry about it."

"Alright then." She smiled and I turned to Len.

"So what do you have planned, Len?"

"I was probably going to play my guitar some." I smiled.

"So we all have something to do, great~!"

"Why's that, Rin?" Luka asked.

"I dunno." I replied with a shrug. "Guess it's good to be busy since we Vocaloids gotta better ourselves for our fans." She laughed.

"I guess so."

"Alrighty then!" I clapped as I stood. "Let's hop to it then!"

"Aye sir!" Miku and Len replied, rising as well. (A/N I do not own Fairy Tail).

We all went off to do our own thing. Luka had taken Miku out to the nail salon, Gakupo was in the courtyard, wielding his sword at dummies, and Mr. Takahata was recording Kaito's song Ice, a parody to Len's song Spice. Oof, that was an interesting music video to shoot. Talk about awkward regarding the rooftop scene Len and I were in, because at the time we didn't know our feelings for each other. I immediately blush intensely at the recollection of him on top of me and me having to act utterly calm during the moment. Clenching my eyes shut, I vigorously shook my head to clear it. Ah, stop it! Stop it, stop it! Calm down, Rin. Then I looked at the white ceiling in frustration as I slapped my thighs with my hands when Spice came on my iPhone shuffle. I glared at the device. "Really." I deadpanned then sighed as I continued to clean.

At last I had finished cleaning up the dust and dirt and was now reorganizing everything when Meltdown began to play. I absolutely loved this song as I was able to belt out the highest notes my voice to reach. I would gleefully do that all of my life, had it not been for my dumb illness. Once the song came on, I began to do my dance with whatever items I was holding and moving around (A/N Her dance from her Live show). The end of the song was nearing and I placed my Miku poster, which used to be on the back of my bedroom door so long ago when I lived in my apartment, on the wall. Then I spun and lifted my arms as I marched in place while singing my last high note. However, when I hit the highest point, my breath caught short and my eyes widened as my throat closed and I fell to my knees before collapsing to my side, hyperventilating. I couldn't move due to the immense amount of pain I was in and my heart was accelerating like crazy. Someone . . . please . . . h-help!

Miku's POV

Luka and I had returned from our appointment. She went to check on her boyfriend while I decided to check on my best friend. "Rin-chan~!" I sang as I knocked on her door. Silence answered me. "Hm? Rin? Rin, you in there?" I opened the door and gasped when I saw her lying on her side. "Rin!" I cried as I ran to her side, resting her head on my lap, I placed my ear to her face and gasped. "She's not breathing. Help!" I called out the door. "Someone help me, please!" A few heartbeats later, my fellow Vocaloids, and Mr. Takahata ran in and surrounded me.

Rin's POV

I cracked my eyes open to find myself staring at my darkened ceiling. Night must have fallen as the only light provided was the dim moonlight. What . . . happened . . .? The last thing I remember was singing in my room, then my throat closed up . . . I gasped and sat up, too quickly, as I gasped and flopped back onto my bed. I was wearing a breathing mask, but remained in my room. Then, I heard muffled male voices outside of my door. As I strained my ears, I recognized the voices to be Mr. Takahata's and . . . Doctor Kyle . . . my heart began to break slowly, but surely. If he was here, Father is bound to know about my condition . . . I pushed those thoughts aside as I focused on the conversation.

"So you're saying you don't know what happened to her, Mr. Takahata?"

"Yes, however, if I had to take a guess she strained herself. I was in my office when Miku found her passed out."

"And you don't know how long she was unconscious for?"

"No sir, I'm afraid I don't."

"Hm." A long pause followed and I removed the breathing mask and placed it on my nightstand. How long was I out for? Judging by the lighting a few hours no doubt. I sat up on my bed and swung my frail legs over the side.

"Is something wrong, Doctor?"

" . . . Does her father know she passed out again?"

"Yes, but we assured him she was fine."

" . . . And how was he?"

"He was deeply concerned, at first, but we managed to calm him down."

"I see . . ."

"Is something the matter?" Another pause and I bit my lip as I leaned forward with suspense. Why . . . why was he pausing so much?

"It's just . . ." He sighed. "I did some blood tests . . . and judging by the results of her weak, deteriorated body . . . she only has about a month left to live . . ." I immediately gasped and my eyes widened, as did Mr. Takahata I imagined.

"What?" He asked in utter disbelief. Amongst my panic, I heard a horde of footsteps approach my door.

"There's some leftover miso soup and sushi set aside for you from dinner, sir." Miku told our teacher.

"How is she?" Luka asked.

I clenched my eyes shut as tears slipped, and brought my legs to my chest, and pressed my hands over my ears not being able to hear a repetition of my untimely demise. I heard a chorus of gasps then I stood on my bed, reached for my window over my nightstand before gingerly stepping on the wood and jumping out into the cold spring night air. I fell when I met the earth; thanking the cluster of tree branches I grabbed to slow my descent. I got to my scratched up legs, which were trembling greatly, and brushed some of the dirt off, before taking off into a blind run. A river of tears trailing behind me.

Noooo Rin only has one month to live?! And now she's taken off! What will happen? See you guys next time, which will, hopefully, be soon. Please Review!
