Chapter 9: Getting back to normal
A few weeks had passed since Yusei had been rescued and returned to duel academy, much to the relief of his friends and family. Keeping her word, Martha had turned up the very next day after the phone call she had with Yusei. Both of the people were crying tears of joy, after so many months of heartbreak and suffering had finally ended. During those few weeks, Seto had been talking to his wife about the idea of adopting the three young teens. Of course she loved the idea, and both of them had discussed the idea with Martha, who seemed overjoyed that someone was willing to take in all three boys.
They had many discussions about if it would be the right thing and whether the three boys would be alright with it, so Seto took it upon himself to get to know the boys in every bit of free time that he had. In that time he had found out that they all shared a strong bond with each other, no matter where they were. After classes, Jack and Crow would go and visit Yusei in the hospital wing to make sure that he wouldn't feel alone, and for that Yusei felt thankful.
There was one thing bothering Seto though, who was that mystery person that had left the clues to find Yusei, the boy himself recalled seeing a masked figure helping him when he was still trapped, but the only thing that he could remember about them is that they had hazel brown eyes. Seto had a suspicion to who the person was, but he didn't have any proof, so he waited, waited for the right time to reveal the identity of that person.
"Ow," Yusei said as he was putting his shirt on, although it was difficult for him to do since he was still in some pain with his new arm.
"Hold on a minute Yus," Crow said from his side as he helped his brother pull his shirt over his head, being careful that he didn't hurt his arm any more.
"There we go," he said as the shirt was fitted on to Yusei's upper body, but it didn't cover up the robotic arm that Yusei was so ashamed of.
"Thanks," Yusei muttered, almost like he didn't want to leave the safety of the hospital like ward that was on duel academy. He already has his trousers and shoes on, covering up the robotic limbs that were his legs, for that he was extremely thankful
"Come on Yusei, lets get your jacket on." Both Jack and Crow helped their younger brother to get his jacket on, which was difficult to say the least. His body was still in pain from the new limbs that he had, and it was still painful to move any of his limbs, but now that he had his brothers to help him to get dressed and walk around, it wouldn't be that much trouble. However, it was not going to help his confidence at all.
The door to the hospital like ward to reveal Miss Fontaine coming in and holding a bag of medical drugs.
"Alright Yusei, this is the medicine that I have prescribed you, they should help you with anything that may pop up." She handed him the bag that contained quite a bit of medical drugs, but she thought that it was all that he would need if anything that may pop up.
"Thank you," he muttered, much to the disappointment of the three people in the room. They had thought that being sent back to his dorm would make him a lot more happy and cheery than he was over the past few weeks, but they guessed that his experience has changed his personality dramatically.
"Come on Yus, we'll take you back," Jack said, but that only seemed to scare Yusei.
"C-ca-ca-can I have some ba-ban-ban-bandages for my eye?" That was no surprise to Miss Fontaine, so she agreed to wrap up his robot eye with a good layer of bandages, which was a huge relief for the damaged teen. No one other than his family, two teachers and the founder of the school knew about what happened to him, and he wasn't willing to risk being alienated and picked on by any other student at the academy.
"There we go, all done." True to her word, his robot eye was now tightly wrapped up under a nice layer of bandages. With little else to do, he left with his brothers to head to his new home away from home, the Obelisk blue boys dorm. Along the way, they passed many students from all three dorms, he got many stares from the students, but none more so then by the Obelisk students. He managed to ignore them thanks to words of encouragement from both Jack and Crow, but the staring and even some whispers still hurt him.
When they were approaching the doors to their dorm, they saw that Chazz was standing there with two of his friends, waiting for them to return.
"Well, well, well, look who finally returns." He sneered, getting some chuckles from his friends, both Jack and Crow were not happy with that comment.
"What do you want Princeton?" Jack demanded, but he just got a glare from the boy in question.
"I don't have to answer to you, it's your twerp of a brother that I want," he said as he pointed to Yusei, but instead of cowering behind Crow, he stayed put with his hand tightly clenched in his pocket.
"Why do you treat us like crap? We ain't done nothing to you before we came here." Crow demanded as he stood in front of Yusei, brotherly instincts kicking in.
"In case you rookies forgot, I'm lucky I still have a face after what that punk did to me." Chazz said, with his two friends voicing their opinions as well.
"And in case you forgot, you threw the first punch, you beat him up until the teachers got you off, and you threw him over the edge." Crow explained, all the boys oblivious to the set of crimson eyes watching the scene.
"So what, he shouldn't be here after what he did to Chazz," one of the other boys said.
"You're right Brad, he should be in a freak show." The second said, who was named as Victor.
"Why don't you admit it, your picking on him because you don't like first years, much less any that stand up to you." Crow said, which seemed to be the last straw for Chazz, who went to punch the only person within reach, Jack. Before his fist could come in contact with Jack, another hand caught his fist, but it was the person that was attached to the fist that scared everyone.
"What do you think you are doing Mr Princeton?" Atem questioned as he released the young teens hand.
"Nothing Mr Sennen," he lied, not knowing that Atem had seen the whole confrontation.
"Really, well why don't you tell me the truth, and try not to lie this time." Chazz didn't say anything, not daring to think what his new head of dorm would say to him.
"Well, if you not going to tell the truth, why don't you go inside the dorm and stop bothering these students, and goes for you to Bradley and Victor." The three named boys didn't go straight away, trying to be defiant against the teacher, but a hard glare from Atem sent them packing and on their way to their rooms.
"Whoa Yusei, easy." Atem turned to see Yusei kneeling on the ground with Jack and Crow by his sides, he was clutching his shoulder that was still sore, but now it was causing him even more pain.
"Come on, lets get him inside," Atem said as Yusei was helped to his feet and led inside the blue dorm, but instead of going to his room, he asked to be taken to the sitting room of the blue dorm, which is where all the students would sit down and relax or just hang out with their friends.
"Just sit him down here," Atem said as he pointed to a near by chair, to which Jack and Crow immediately placed their younger brother in to, much to the relief of Yusei.
"Thanks guys," he said.
"No problem Yus," Crow replied, followed by Jack.
"Glad to help."
"Does he have any medicine he could take?" Atem questioned the boys.
"Yeah, Miss Fontaine gave him this bag of stuff to take,"Jack answered as he held up the bag of medicine that was given to Yusei.
"Why don't you go get some water then? It be best for him to take some medicine now," Jack put the bag down to go and buy a bottle of water, since they won duel points each time they would take part in a duel, it counted as a form of money on the island, which seemed to be fine with the students. Meanwhile, Crow was looking the bag of medicine to see what Yusei should take, lucky for him, Miss Fontaine put a chart of which medicine to take and when to take it.
"Okay, this looks like the right ones," he had several types of tablets and capsules in his hand that was on the list for killing pain, so now he just had to wait for Jack to return.
"Ah," both Crow and Atem turned to look at Yusei who seemed to be in even more pain. He was hunched over in his seat, hugging himself, trying to comfort himself and forget the pain.
"Hold on Yusei, your brother will be back shortly," Atem said and Yusei just nodded, not paying much attention to what was going on in the room around him.
Just as Atem had said, Jack did return with a bottle of water, passing it to Yusei so he could take his pain medication. It was a sad thought that Yusei was never going to be the same person that he was before, but they were going to be with him every step of the way with his recovery. But there was one thing that bothered them, the person who wrote the riddles that led them to where he was being kept. They never got the chance to express their gratitude because the identity of the person was still unknown to everyone, but that would have to wait until later, they had more important business to take care of.
Seto was in his office back in Neo Domino city, waiting for his next appointment to show up. After many discussions with his wife and Martha from the orphanage, he had finally decided that he and he wife were going to adopt the boys, and now he was waited for Martha to arrive for him to begin the process of adoption.
Since Martha had constant contact with the boys, they often talked about what the three would feel like if they did get adopted. Jack and Crow thought that it would feel great to them if they did, as long as they still had contact with Martha as she was the mother figure for most of their life. Yusei was a little apprehensive about sharing his thoughts about it, but after much coaxing, he finally admitted that he would feel great if Seto adopted him.
It came as a shock to his step family and they questioned why he would like it, he answered that Seto was like the father that he never knew, he just made him feel happy and loved. His brothers didn't seemed to mind what he thought, they both thought that Seto was a great guy and would like it if he could take in all three of them, but they all thought that it would never happen because of how busy he was, not knowing that Martha had found out all the information that she needed.
Seto was brought out of his thoughts as the door to his office was opened, he turned around and saw that Martha had arrived with a file of papers. Soon, very soon, Jack, Crow and Yusei were going to achieve their dream of finally getting what they wanted all their life's, getting adopted.
"Good day Mr Kaiba, I hope I haven't arrived at an inconvenient time," she said as she walked to stand in front of his desk.
"No you haven't Martha, you're on time, which is more than what I can say about some employees." They both took a seat before going over the adoption process and the papers.
"Right, you have had social services over at your mansion haven't you? It is a necessity that your home is evaluated before the children actually arrive."
"Yes Martha, I have had a visit from social services, and they have passed my mansion." Seto explained, much to the elder woman's relief.
"Well, that's a relief. It's just that I have raised these boys myself, it's just sinking in that they are finally going to get a place that they can call home." Seto gave a curt nod to the woman.
"It is understandable, where do I have to sign?" He asked, and Martha pointed out the areas in which he needed to sign, which he did.
"Thank you sir, your wife just needs to sign it and the process will be complete." Martha said as Seto finished filling in the forms that he had to sign, all that was left was for his wife Serenity to sign her name and they would have three new sons.
"No problem at all, I look forward to having some new family members," Seto said before putting the papers in his briefcase so he could take them home with him, so Serenity could sign the papers.
Back at the boys dorm, the pain medication that Yusei had taken had finally set in and he was finally relaxed, and slightly tired because of the amount of medication that he had to take. He was still in the sitting room of the dorm with Jack and Crow, Atem had left because he had to check on the rest of the blue students and he had papers to grade.
Yusei was trying his best not to fall asleep, but he wasn't having much luck. He was about to fall asleep until he heard the doors to the room open. He and his brothers looked at the door and mentally groaned, Chazz was back, only this time he was on his own. Jack was about to come up with a smart remark, until Chazz spoke up.
"Oh relax, I'm not here for trouble, I just came here to talk," he explained, but Yusei suddenly spoke up.
"That's unusual for you," Jack and Crow sniggered at the statement and Chazz ignored it, so he just continued.
"What I want to talk about is this feud that we got going on, and I want it to end, believe it or not." Now that had shocked everyone in the room, even Yusei was fully awake, but before they could ask why, Chazz continued speaking.
"Since you three arrived, you were considered the top three students next to Zane Truesdale, and I didn't like. So I was trying to take out my frustration on you punks, but nothing works better than having a duel to end all of this. So Fudo, do you except my challenge or are you going to run home to momma?" He asked, although he was still acting arrogant.
"That is so typical of you," Yusei said, grabbing everyone's attention. "You think you are the best in this academy, but you're not, and you hate the fact that some new guys come in and take that roll. If you want this to end, then I accept you're challenge." Yusei said with a glare on his face, just because he had one eye visible, he still managed to scare Chazz.
"Good, meet me tomorrow at three o'clock in the afternoon by the cliff side, we'll see who is the better duellist," Chazz sneered as he walked out of the room and out of their sight. Jack and Crow seemed surprised that Yusei stood up for himself like that, but they had no idea what was going through their younger brothers head, but they would soon know, weather they liked it or not.
