A little upset that I only received 2 reviews for the last chapter. Did no one else like the hill? Anyway, thank you to those two reviewers, this chapter is for you! Who's ready for the end? And a wedding?

Chapter 38

Adrianna peered out from the tent at the groups of people arriving. She couldn't see anyone from the Fellowship besides Gandalf standing with her father and King Thranduil at the top of a small grassy hill; a carpet of fresh leaves layered the ground as a make-shift aisle down the centre of the guests; mainly Elves and Faye's. Lanterns were strung up around the clearing, leading all the way to the top of the hill where the most magnificent view of the starry sky lay before the gathering guests, and of course (in memory of her mother) silver bells had been hung from the trees, the wind causing them to play harmoniously.

The chestnut haired bride let the curtain fall closed again as she turned to face her maid once more.

"I'm nervous." She whispered, taking the raven haired woman's hand in her own and squeezing it.

The Faye smiled gently towards the Princess, "Your mother would be proud of you, my Lady." She placed a kiss upon Adrianna's knuckles. "You look beautiful."

The Princess looked down at her white laced dress, and ran her slender fingers across the delicate neckline, "Thank you."

Thunder clapped overhead and both Princess and maid looked up at the tent and gasped in horror as rain began to patter.

"My hair!" Adrianna gasped, gently touching the beautiful sweet peas adorning her plaited bun. "It'll be ruined!"

The maid smiled softly, "My Lady," She began, "It is said to be good luck if it rains on your wedding day."

"Addie?" Tobias called from outside the tent.

The Princess kicked off her shoes and made her way towards the opening. "What am I going to do, Tobias?" She asked, pulling him inside.

The Prince sighed as he looked her over. Suddenly, he pulled her into his arms and kissed the top of her head. "I can tell Legolas to wait until the rain to stopped, if you wish?"

Adrianna shook her head and pulled away, straightening down her dress. "No," She began, her tone one of certainty. "I'm ready."

Elves began to sing a song in beautiful, harmonious voices as the bride stepped out from her tent.

Guards from both Mirkwood and The Glade of Tarasara stood upon either side of the aisle, holding up banners like canopies above the Princesses head as Tobias held out his arm to lead her down the leafy ground.

Her bare feet were cold from the damp ground, but she didn't care. Her eyes gleamed with delight and happiness for the one she truly loved was standing, waiting for her at the head of the hill with Gandalf.

Again, thunder clapped overhead, and Adrianna looked over Fanghorn Forest where white lightening lit up the starry night sky.

As soon as they reached the bottom of the sloping stairs leading up to the top of the hill, Tobias passed her hand over to King Adrias, for it is the father to give the bride away.

They slowly ascended the stairs, and stepped into light drizzle once they reached the top.

Pure words of affection were shared between the couple as they exchanged their vows with one another, the small fire lights around them – safely covered from the rain – illuminated the clearing in the most magnificent golden glow, and even appeared to change colour with the words the Wizard spoke; as though he had placed a spell upon them.

The rain grew gradually heavier, but did not wash away the smiles that the Royals held for one another.

"I vow to trust you, be honest to you, and be both loyal and faithful to you for as long as I shall live." Legolas recited. "I promise to protect you, love you and cherish you for all eternity."

Adrianna felt tears brimming in her eyes as her elf made his promises, and she cleared her throat so that she would be able to recite her own, "I vow to trust you, be honest to you, and be both loyal and faithful to you for as long as I shall live." She took a deep breath, trying to hold back the tears threatening to fall down her fair face, "I promise to serve you, love you and cherish you for all eternity."

As their words were exchanged, Gandalf gestured for Gimli to step forward. From his pocket, he drew out two beautiful rings which had been crafted by himself, the silver ore found deep within the mines of Erebor, along with the mystical looking pink gems encrusted in one.

They thanked the Dwarf graciously before taking them from him.

Legolas slipped a thin silver band, encrusted with the small pink gems onto Adrianna's finger, whereas the Faye bejewelled the elf with a ring made with five strands of silver, intricately twisted together.

The Prince smiled charmingly as he wiped a stray tear from the Princesses cheek, "How beautifully you shine tonight. You make the stars jealous."

Adrianna blushed, and clasped his hands in her own, "I did have flowers in my hair."

His smile grew, and he tucked a wet chestnut lock behind the Faye's pointed ear, "And I'm sure they looked wonderful."

As the Prince and the Princess kissed, their guests applauded them in a congratulatory roar as the drizzle of rain grew heavier, and thunder clapped overhead.

Carefully, they made their way down the stairs, and walked hand in hand down the aisle; showers of tulip petals and sweet peas rained down upon them as they walked underneath the banners of both Mirkwood and The Glade of Tarasara.

The Prince stepped out from under the covers of the banners, pulling the Princess along with him. "Where are we going?" She asked above the pounding of the rain.

The elf stopped, and gracefully turned to face his bride as he bowed low towards her, "My Lady, would you care to dance?" He asked, straightening up and holding his hand out towards her.

"It's raining!" Adrianna laughed lightly before curtseying, "But of course!"

The Faye placed her small, delicate hand into the strong, elegant hand of the Prince. Her other hand rested lightly upon his shoulder; his pale silver shirt was wet through. Legolas placed his free hand upon Adrianna's lower back, cool water seeped through the lovely lace embroidery of her dress as he pulled her closer towards him.

Together, they danced in the rain, gliding across the meadow and around puddles of glistening water. They could no longer feel the watching eyes of their guests upon them, nor could they feel the coldness of the rain upon them…they were too deep in their own world now and would be for a many, long years to come.
