Chapter 20: Her Love Runs Deep
Life went back to normal after everything. I was in the hospital for a couple weeks after everything with Cross and the Lizard. Peter helped me get better along with Ashley and Dad. Ariel stayed home for a couple more weeks before going back to university. She wouldn't leave my bed side even though I insisted she go home and go back to school. We argued for a little bit until she finally agreed to my decision and went straight home.
Ashley and I started to get along, better. I had to finally realizes that Ashley only meant good for me and she wasn't the evil step-mother from the fairy tales I read as a child. She actually wanted me to succeeded and be there to help every step on the way...not knock me down.
Peter and I were still going strong. Stronger than ever, actually. I couldn't imagine a better life without Peter. He wasn't just Spider-Man to me, he was Peter Parker. One of the nicest, thoughtful person I've ever met and I was glad to say he was mine. It didn't bother me one bit that every girl on the street of New York was going all gaga for Peter...or should I say Spider-Man. Somedays, I would forget that Pete was Spider-Man and I would just looked at him like the day dreams I had of him before I found out that he was Peter.
Gwen and I were still friends. She felt guilty after everything that happened with Cross and Connors. I had to reminder her every time that it was in no way her fault but she would keep ignoring my pleads to stop. When I was in the hospital, she came a visit me everyday. Bringing me my missing school work, of coarse, and some treats she made a home which, I have to admit, were one of these bests things I've ever ate and they would get better with each visit.
I was now back at my daily routine. Back at my last couple months of school before graduating. It was a weird feeling coming back. People giving you weird stares as you strolled the hallways. I would hear whispers as I walked by. They would either be good or bad but I care now what they said about me behind my back. They were all just people to me now. Boring people who had nothing better to do then gossip about the simplest things. All that mattered to me were my friends, family and Peter and nothing else.
Today was the last day before winter break and I couldn't wait til the end of it. Peter and I had planned on going on a romantic dinner before I went back home for the holidays. Grandma and Grandpa wanted to get together since we hadn't seen them in months and they couldn't come up and see me during my visit in the hospital since my grandmother had just had a knee surgery and the doctors had advise her not to fly and stay home. I wanted Peter to come put I didn't want him to leave Aunt May all by herself. She had been so sweet to me the last couple weeks. She even brought me a casserole while I stayed in the hospital and made me eat the whole thing down while she visited.
Now, it was Friday. The air was crisped that day as everyone was inside the warm school. Counting down the minutes until the break started. I was sitting in Music & Arts class as we all had to work on a piece for when we came back after break. You could write a play, a poem or work on a song. I decided song since it was probably the only thing I was really good at. Peter had decided to switch classes a couple months ago. Mrs. Brighton wanted him to take another advance Biology. She told him it will help him when he heads off to collage.
Peter and I had been talking about that for a while. Thinking about where to go. I was thinking of going to Appalachian State University in North Carolina or Dominguez Hills in California but Peter wanted us to both go to Colombia right here at 'home'. I wanted to go to school with Peter, I really did...but...something deep down inside of me wanted to venture off into the world and go out on my own. To try it before it gets too-"

I was cut off of my thoughts when the school bell went off and all the kids happily jumped out of their seats and started packing up. I then did the same and exited the room and went straight for my locker. As I was placing one of my textbooks into my locker when I saw I figure slowly laid against the locker beside me. I turned and saw Gwen smiling at me with her bubble gum pink lipstick against her lips. Her white pearl teeth smiled wide at me.
"So?" She asked. "Are you excited to head back home for the holidays?"
I let out a sigh.
"Yes, and no," I said as I closed my locker door and started walking down the halls with Gwen. "I'm excited to leave but Petes a little bummed out I'll be gone for two weeks"
"Take him with you"
"Can't. I don't want to leave Aunt May by herself for the holidays. It'll be ok. I'll just...Skype Peter everyday" Gwen and I giggled a bit as we continued down the hallways. "Peters taking me out for dinner tonight though"
"Really?! Where?"
"Um...I dunno. He...he never said"
"Oh...well. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be great"
"Yeah, well. You know Peter. He's alwa-"
I was cut off when someone jumped in between Gwen and I.
"Hey beautiful," they said as they placed their lips against mine and them pulled them apart. I stared back into Peter's warm brown eyes and smiled back at him. "Ready for tonight?" he asked as he turned and looked at Gwen. "Oh, hey Gwen"
"Hey" she awkwardly said back and then looked at me. "I'll see you later, Anna," she then hugged me. "Have a great trip"
"Thanks," I said back. "Have a great holiday" I hugged her back and then we pulled apart.
Gwen started walking away but then looked back at us. "Have a fun date, you two!" She called as she turned back around and walked away.
It was still kind of awkward to be friends with Gwen. I know she said she was okay with Peter and I dating and all but still...I felt kind of wrong to be doing this to her but...I guess all that mattered was that Peter and I were happy...right?"
I let out a sigh and then looked back at Peter.
"Everything okay?" Peter asked.
I smiled and nodded. "Yes, everything is just fine. So," I said as I started fixing his jacket. "Where are you taking me tonight on this romantic dinner of yours?"
Peter let out a chuckle as he wrapped his arm around my shoulder and started dragging me out the door. "You'll see"
I let out a girly giggle and started hugging him back as we walked out the school.
Peter and I had decided to grab a couple hot dogs from a local street vendor before he started swinging me around New York City. I loved every bit of it before we landed on the rooftop of my building. The rooftop Spider-Man and I would meet every night. Those were one of the best nights of my life.
I let out a giggle as my feet touched the rooftop and started spinning and dancing in delight. Peter let out a chuckle as he watched me doing that.
"What are you doing?" He asked as his hands were shoved in his jacket pocket.
"I'm dancing! What do you think I'm doing?" I asked as I was still dancing.
"I call it 'Spinning until you upchuck your hot dog all over the roof top'"
I rolled my eyes. "Ha, ha" I said, sarcastically.
All of a sudden, it started to snow and I stopped as I stood there with snow slowly falling all around me. I then stuck out my tongue so some snow could land on my tongue which made Peter start to laugh.
I looked over at Peter, who stood there all by himself and skipped over to him and grabbed his hand.
"What are you doing?" He asked me in a funny tone.
"Come on! Haven't you ever head of those romantic dates of dancing in the falling snow"
"I thought it was dancing in the rain?"
"Pfft! Same thing! Come on, now! Dance with your girlfriend!" I urged him and we started to slow dance in the snow.
The moment was just perfect. The snow was falling. Like glitter falling around us. We didn't even need music it was like it was just playing in our head. Everything thing around us was just quite. Not a sound was heard instead our heart beats.
As my head rested against Peter's chest, Peter pulled up and looked at me and smiled.
"You are so beautiful" he whispered to me.
I was so speechless that I just smiled back and mouthed, 'Thank You'
"And...I love you"
"I love you too" I whispered back.
"I'm so happy that we are going to school together" he said as he grabbed my hands and wrapped them in his.
"What?" I asked
"We're...going to school together...right?" he asked.
I didn't want to ruin the moment so I just nodded back with a smile. Peter gave me a grin back. "Great. I'm glad we are. I'm glad...that were taking these steps together"
"Me too"
"I'm glad that we both want to plan a future together"
"Yeah," I said. "I'm glad we're pushing hard to get a degree together. We're doing this fo-"
"Anna" Peter cut me off.
"Yeah, Pete?"
"Marry me"
