Hi! Maybe I'll start of by mentioning something bothering me from the reviews Guest (there are many guests who commented. But Im just refering to one of them) said that he/she didnt like my plot because the gamemakers should have heard Percy announcing he is a demigod. Now I'd just make things clear. It's okay for anyone not to like my plot (I mean, I will admit my story definitely isnt the perfect story). But, why dont you consider why I didnt add in the part on the gamemakers. It is from the tribute's POV. Surely they wont know what is going on in the gamemakers mind. Besides my crossover isnt even finished yet. So how would anyone know how it will turn out?
Okay. I wont keep ranting on and on like a naggy old hag. Just needed to put it off my mind. Thanks for all the other reviews too :)
To seaweedbrainlover1117: Dont worry, you'll see :)
To PercyJacksonIsAWESOME6810: I only get one week of break next week :( Well, at least its a little break. Better than nothing. Im getting crushed under my schoolwork. Thanks for the lot of reviews!
Enjoy :)
Katniss
Katniss cursed herself for her stupidity. She should've known that all along Percy was just another spy from the Capitol, disguised as a tribute to get into the arena. He was a spy, helping the Capitol audience spice things up in the arena and create excitement. Now she had so foolishly allied herself with him.
But there was a small voice at the back of a mind. If he was from the capitol, why did he save you and Peeta from the hellhound? Why would he risk getting exposed by saving you from the fire?
When they had accidentally bumped into the tributes from District seven, Katniss was still in shock from what Percy had done to the water. She had been unsure of his intentions from what he did. So she had made a split second decision to help Thalia and Nico to take Percy down.
She had strung her bow while Percy's back was turned, focused on the District seven tributes. She was mad at Percy for almost everything. She had been starting to trust him after the incident with the hellhound. But now, she realised that Percy had kept it a secret all along, and that he was a subject from the Capitol. Who else could make water act like that? It must be one of those high tech stuff.
Then Percy had looked back at her. He had registered everything in one glance, and his sea green eyes had a look of betrayal, as though she was doing something wrong. He'd suddenly forgotten about those other tributes he was facing, and had turned around to talk to her. Katniss wanted to scream at that point and tell those from seven to kill him while he was focused on her. But unfortunately, Thalia and Nico stayed where they were.
Percy said he wanted to explain everything to prove he was still her ally. She didn't know why he was so desperate to tell her everything. She considered just ending everything there and then. But somehow, Percy's tone made her want to believe what he said was true, that Percy was not someone from the Capitol.
"Just five minutes." She said. "Starting from now."
Percy glanced back at Thalia and Nico, whose weapons were still raised.
"We want to hear what he's going to say too." Thalia said, lowering her bow.
Percy quickly went over to where Katniss was. She still had her bow ready, just in case all this was one of Percy's tricks.
"Stay where you are." Katniss warned. "You move, and I'll make sure you are run through by this arrow. Just explain now."
Percy stayed rooted to the ground, and lowered his sword.
"Look. I told Peeta this earlier, that I am not from this District. I'm don't even belong to this time. I come from the past." Percy said quickly. "I'm here to protect you and Peeta."
"What do you mean? You can't protect us. This games are invented by the Capitol. There is no stopping them." Katniss said coldly.
"That's where you're wrong. There is one way to stop all this. You are the only one who can start a rebellion to get the districts to overthrow the Capitol. That is why I was sent to protect you and help you get out of this arena alive." Percy said calmly.
Katniss was trying to process what Percy was saying. Rebellion? Nobody ever rebels against the Capitol. They would all end up dead trying.
"What do you mean 'sent'? Where are you from if you are not from Panem?" Katniss asked.
Percy paused. Then he said, "I don't know if you heard about the Greek gods. But I am an offspring of the gods. That is why I can control the water just now. It is part of the powers that I have."
"Greek gods? I've heard of them before, in school." Katniss muttered. "But I didn't know they have children."
"I am a living proof then." Percy said, cracking a smile. "Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, the god of the sea."
At first, Katniss didn't want to believe Percy. But now, she realised that it would explain how Percy could control the water. It would even explain how Percy could heal from his wound so fast. But Katniss had doubts.
"You said you would help me win. That is not possible. Only one tribute can be crowned victor. It means you will have to die." Katniss stated.
"Apparently, the gods said if I succeeded in helping you win, I would somehow find a way out of here, back into the past where I came from." Percy shrugged.
Katniss thought about it for a moment. "But there are many more career tributes, plus those Hellhounds and other creatures around. You nearly got killed by one earlier. How can you defend me against all these things?"
Percy frowned. "You just have to believe in me, okay?"
And Katniss believed him. For once, she forced herself to see everything from his point of view, and how he struggled to get her to be allies with him. He even placed himself in danger to fight the Hellhound for her. Percy had even turned down an alliance with Thalia and Nico, so that he could protect her.
Speaking of Thalia and Nico, they were still standing about five meters away. Why hadn't they taken the opportunity of Percy's turned back to kill him?
Katniss aimed her bow. This time, she pointed it at the District 7 tributes.
But Percy immediately spread open his arms, stepping into Katniss's line of fire. "Stop!" He commanded. "They are my friends!"
"Percy! If I have to win this games, everyone else would have to die! There can only be one victor!" Katniss said impatiently.
"No! I meant that they are like me. They are demigods too. They came here with me to help protect you." Percy explained quickly.
Finally she understood. That was why Percy wanted Katniss to accept them as allies in the first place. Now that this was all clear to her, Katniss relaxed and lowered her bow.
"Fine. I believe you." Katniss said. "So what do we do now?"
Percy sighed in relief, then beckoned Thalia and Nico to come.
"Not much of a plan, is it? Just keep you and Peeta alive until the end of the games. Problem solved. Now I want to take a nap." Percy yawned.
Without even checking to see if it was secure to sleep here, in the open, Percy sat down and leant against a tree. Just like that, his eyelids drooped, and he was asleep.
That left Katniss and Peeta alone with the District 7 tributes. Katniss didn't know them well, and was hesitant to trust them. But Percy obviously didn't have any trust issues with them. They must have been really close friends before.
Looking at Percy slumped against the tree, Thalia rolled her eyes.
"One day, his ignorance is going to kill him." Thalia snickered.
"And he'll be murdered in his sleep." Nico added.
Percy didn't look like he was going to wake up any time soon. So she propped herself up on the other side of the tree. Peeta did the same beside her.
"You two can take a rest too. Nico and I will guard this place." Thalia said.
Katniss nodded. But she didn't go to sleep. She kept her eyes peeled as Peeta started snoring away. Although she believed Percy's story that they were demigods protecting her and Peeta, she felt safer if she knew what was going on around her.
Someone shook Katniss's shoulder gently.
"Katniss, wake up. We've got to move on." Peeta's familiar voice drifted into her mind.
And with a jolt, she jerked her head upright. Katniss opened her eyes, looking at the golden glow of the sun streaming though the canopy of leaves. She must have fallen asleep from exhaustion. Vaguely, she wondered what had happened the night before.
Then it all came back to her. Demigods…protect…rebellion…alive. She spun around and saw Thalia and Nico a couple of meters away standing guard as they slept. Had they been awake all night? She wondered.
Katniss got to her feet and slung her backpack over her shoulder. She picked up her bow and quiver of arrows. Then she realised – Percy was missing.
The demigod son of Poseidon was nowhere to be seen. She got worried, wondering where he could have gone. If Thalia and Nico had been awake through the night, shouldn't they know where Percy had disappeared to?
"Percy?" She called tentatively.
There was no reply.
But Peeta smiled and pointed at a pile of leaves behind the tree, "Well, Thalia and Nico wanted to have some fun."
Katniss took a step closer to the leaf pile and understood what Peeta meant. There, protruding out of one side of the leaves was Percy's head. His eyes were closed and he was still sound asleep. The rest of his body was covered in brown leaves.
A small smile played on her lips. The close friendship between the demigods were clear to her. They must have known each other for a very long time.
"We have to wake him up, right? Can't stay here all day." Katniss said.
Peeta agreed, and he started brushing the leaves away.
However, his attempts to wake Percy up was fruitless. No matter how hard Peeta shook and called Percy's name, he just carried on sleeping.
"Oh, that won't work. Percy needs something more...effective." Thalia smirked, walking over to them. Nico followed behind her.
"Like what?" Katniss frowned.
Thalia grinned wickedly, and lifted her index finger, "This."
Light blue electricity crackled up and down her finger. Thalia bent down, and reached out to touch Percy on the shoulder.
*MUAHAHAHA* I love it when Percy gets zapped. (Okay, maybe that was a little mean).
