Chapter 19: The 1st Battle
Aliana: Mr. Mertens, what are you talking about?
Finn: *points to Kyoko* Look!
Aliana and the students went to Kyoko's body. They gasped in horror. By the time 9 came to Kyoko. He now noticed what's happening to Kyoko and why Finn was so mad at 9.
The red gem that was attached on Kyoko's chest was missing.
Aliana: *kneels down* Kyoko's Soul Gem was missing.
Finn: *panics* What are we going to do now?! Kyoko would be anywhere by now.
9: What do you mean?
Aliana: *sighs* Elijah, the 'Kyoko' you see right now...was just a body with no soul. *points to the placement of the Soul Gem* The gem you always see was KYOKO. Without KYOKO, the 'Kyoko' you see will be motionless until KYOKO would return to her body.
By the time 9 pressed his hands to Kyoko's chest and sends a powerful blast. The Soul Gem have slipped off to Kyoko's body.
9: You mean...the one I blasted...was Kyoko?
Aliana: *closes eyes* Yes, Elijah. You blasted Kyoko with your powers.
Finn: *calm yet mad* And because of you...Kyoko is gone. You killed her.
9: *horrified* ...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to-
Finn: Didn't mean to? DIDN'T MEAN TO?! You blasted her! *points to Kyoko's body* Does THIS look like you didn't mean to!
9 looked to Kyoko's body. Her eyes were slightly dilated and dark than her usual active eyes. He started believe Finn that he killed her. He felt like crying again. Bridget's gone and now Kyoko was killed by him. His hands curled into fists and his lips quivered. He ran away from the group and head where he was nowhere to be seen crying.
The students watched 9 in pity as he went to somewhere he wouldn't be seen. The poor ragdoll.
9 was seen at the pond. His knees were clutched to his chest. His shadow were growing under him as the sun begins to sleep. The rays of the sun shines the pond into topaz waves in each wave.
The Emerald butterfly was staring to his teardrop brooch in sadness as he looked to the orange ball of light. It was beautiful view. He wished Bridget would come here and see the sunset. But Bridget isn't here anymore. That's too bad because Bridget always loved seeing the sunset every sunny afternoon and the moon in the midnight sky.
Bridget faced her necklace to the sunset and the midnight sky. The orange and white light shines upon her Emerald gem.
9 faced his brooch to the shining water of the sun. The light didn't shine on 9's brooch. But it was worth to see the pure sadness of him. The Emerald light is slowly tainted with pure sadness within 9. That 's how he feel right now. Sadness and pure loneliness. His regretful face was telling why he was still here.
The boss pulled the trigger 14 times. The bullets are heading towards 9 and Bridget. But instead of Bridget got shot, it was 9. He should've done that by the time Bridget shields him with her back.
He hides his face with his knees so no one would see him cry.
But this stops when the Emerald brooch blinks. He looked up slowly and saw the blinking light. Where did that come from?
Aliana: Not only Bridget can manipulate spirits, but she can communicate them also. *points to 9's brooch* Your brooch will tell if there is a living spirit or not.
Aliana DID mentioned that he blasted Kyoko. He remembered that Finn 'killed' Kyoko by blasting her gem. If his brooch was blinking, would that mean Kyoko is still alive?
9 stood up and look at his brooch. The gem was blinking, indicating that Kyoko is here somewhere. He faced his brooch to the sun.
His brooch is glowing brightly. That means...
Kyoko must be somewhere in the pond.
The Emerald gem is shown drowning until Bridget managed to catch it before it sinks to the bottom of the pond.
Looks like he had to swim.
But he's a doll, he can't swim! But at the situation like this, he had to.
He placed his foot to the water. Then the other. He began walking to the water until the water reached half to his neck (5 ft from 9's height). The brooch glowed brightly. Kyoko is there alright. Possibly in front of his feet underwater. He took a deep breath and he lowered his feet underwater slowly.
It was a little dark since it's going to be evening. If he didn't make it in time before the darkness comes, he'll be lost. With the guide of his brooch, he began to swim a little deeper.
By the time he arrived at the deep part. He heard a very familiar voice.
Unknown: Hey you!
9: *gasps* Kyo-
9 was about to say Kyoko's name. Until he covers his mouth so the water won't get into his mouth. He scooped up a familiar object and swam up as fast as he can.
9 managed to make it to the shore. His body was soaked wet. The water treated him as if he is a sponge or something. But he was lucky the water didn't went to his insides. He looked to the red gem and his brooch. The brooch glowed blindly when the gem is close to it.
9: K-Kyoko?
Kyoko: ...Nice to see you again, ragdoll.
9: It is you! *saddens* I'm sorry, if I blast you. I didn't know. Finn even thinks that I killed you.
Kyoko: Nah, I never suspected you can blast me that powerful. And don't mind about that bear, you know him.
9: *nods in relief*
Kyoko: Well, let's go back to the others. My body wouldn't last long, you know.
9: Ok.
Bridget run to her friends.
The students have tried their best to keep Kyoko's body ok. Lettuce's light, Mickey's sun and Tails' moon tried to keep the clock of Kyoko's body slow.
Finn, Dib, Mordecai and Phineas were looking for Kyoko. But they returned with empty hands.
Mickey: *lowers his hands* There's no sign of her, isn't she?
Mordecai: No. Nothing.
Phineas: *sighs* We've looked everywhere!
Dib: Kyoko is here but not here.
Finn: There's no hope for her. Maybe we should just give up.
Phineas: Come on, Finn. Dib got a point. She must be here somewhere, maybe we didn't searched that far enough.
Finn: Like where?
Phineas didn't answered. He was still thinking of where they didn't looked. He hung his head down in sadness. Finn looked away in sorrow.
Then all of a sudden that Kyoko's chest was going up and down. Then they hear a familiar voice.
Bridget waved her hands in relief when she saw her friends.
9: I found her!
Mickey: Huh?! Elijah?
9: I found her! I found Kyoko!
Finn: *eyes widened in shock* Kyoko?!
9 went to his classmates along with Kyoko. The students went to him in concern.
But then the ground shakes for a second. What was that? Aliana went to 9. She saw that 9 was holding Kyoko in his hands. Her face shows worry and suspicion.
Aliana: Elijah, where did you found Kyoko?
9: At the pond.
Aliana: Pond?
9: *nods and points to his brooch* My brooch sensed her by the pond.
Aliana: *suspicious, then looks to the students* Has anyone remembered a pond in this park?
Mickey: *shakes his head* No.
Lettuce: The pond wasn't build ever since I went here.
Mordecai: I never remembered having a pond in here.
Aliana: *eyes widened* Elijah, I don't think that's a pond on where you located Kyoko.
The ground shakes again.
Aliana: It's a hideout.
The pond on where 9 found Kyoko suddenly dried out.
The students' mouth were wide open as they all faced a monster. 9 remembered that monster in Day 4.
All of them ran away from the creature. 9 was ahead of them holding Kyoko (Soul Gem) with them. He looked back at the monster. He knew the monster will catch him at any second. He called at the one who is close to him at a good distance.
9: Dib!
Dib: Wha?
9: Catch!
He gave Kyoko to Dib. Then Dib gave Kyoko to Mickey, to Mordecai, to Phineas, to Tails, to Lettuce, then to Finn and Aliana. The students managed to go back to Kyoko's body. Just as Finn inserted Kyoko to her body, the monster was in front of them.
The monster was about to strike students. Until 9 came and attacked the monster just before the hand came to them. He kept on attacking the monster until he gets tired. He was still a first timer and that monster was quite difficult to defeat. The monster had an advantage and swats 9 up high.
9 landed to the students and Aliana. He went back to his knees as he looked to his classmates and Aliana in concern. He looked back to the monster.
Bridget was in a prayer position as her arms and her necklace glows at the same time.
He closed his hands and his eyes.
His arms and brooch glows. A flow of power came into him again. And he wanted to release it.
His crosses his arms and release it as a mist of green was unleashed from his body. The power was like from his training. The symbol forms again from the ground like a barrier.
9 opened his eyes and saw his staff in front of him. He picked it and raised his staff in the air. The green mist went to his staff until the three pieces of the ring glows blindly.
Let's go!
Savior!
He faced his staff to the monster as the three lights traveled to the center piece and sent a blast of green light to the monster.
The dark red, dilated eyes slowly turned into the usual, active red eyes. It blinked for a few times until the vision focused clearly. She sat up and saw her friends were sitting on the couch waiting for her to wake up. Aliana was beside her.
Aliana: Finally, you're awake.
Kyoko: *looks around* What happened to me? *looks to her body* Man, and I even thought I'm not going back to my body.
Aliana: Elijah, saved your life.
Kyoko: I know that already. But what happened next?
By the time 9 faced his staff to the monster, the staff releases green light that disintegrates the monster. 9 fell to the ground from exhaustion. Finn placed Kyoko to her body.
Aliana walks to the door leaving her students in their dorm. But not until saying something to the students.
Aliana: You better thank Elijah for saving your life. *looks back* Your lives.
She closed the door. The students were silent until Kyoko speaks.
Kyoko: Say, Elijah's training is finished am I right?
Dib: Yeah.
Kyoko: So...you think he would be in our team?
In 9's room, you can hear a sniff and a sob. 9 was hiding himself under his blanket. His face was sadness and grief instead of happiness and relief.
He clutched his pillow tight as he cries himself to sleep.
I don't think so.
Let's just consider it that he's our classmate more than a friend or a teammate.
End of Day 10
