I am going to spare you and not tell a whole story about the subject of me not updating this fic. But hey, we are still living 2020 and I returned, didn't I? On with the story.

Chapter 5:

The Hidden Past

Naruto must be dreaming. This can't be real. The pictures and memories swirl around this one person who mattered the most to Naruto. The blonde knows he is dreaming because the dreams are actually memories - memories from the time the blond had a relationship with Sasuke.

Soon after Naruto's first mission, the blonde found his life extremely difficult. And the cause of Naruto's misery was one tall raven haired vampire.

Naruto was right about the fact that Uchiha Sasuke is the manager of the secret underground department. Naruto also found that not many people actually knew about that department. He managed to dig some facts about it - most of them illegal. The underground department manages the difficult cases - some people call them the cleaners, because they make sure every mistake or fault is fixed - properly and quietly.

That was the place Sasuke was supposed to be at. That was his position. His duty as some people would say. This is, however, not the case. Sasuke strolls the corridors of the hunting section like he owns them, tailing one small blonde hunter's ass. And that was the root of Naruto's misery.

It irritates Naruto unspeakably much. So with a quick decision the blonde leads the raven to a quiet hallway and turns around with a piercing glare - only to find pale pink lips in a smirk.

"Would you mind? I am busy with work if you haven't noticed." Naruto snaps. The raven's smirk only grows wider.

"Babydoll, I don't mind. I don't mind at all, after all, I have the greatest view." Sasuke purrs with his deep velvety voice. Naruto blushes when he gets the tone of the vampire. Damn asshole, talking about my ass. And damn me, stop blushing.

"Don't you have your own work to do, asshole? Or are you one of those lazy-ass managers who are only good at bossing people around?" Naruto asks with a small teasing grin.

"I will let you know that I am not very good with paperwork- that is my brother's job. I am more of a hands-on kind of guy, if you catch my drift?" Sasuke's dark onyx eyes travel slowly from the blonde's head to toes and back again - taking everything in. Naruto's cheeks burn even more.

"I don't know what you mean, asshole."

"Sure you don't, babydoll."

"What do you want from me, asshole?"

"Go out with me."

Naruto's sky blue eyes widens in shock. Is this what he was after all this time? This fucking asshole!

"Hn, you know that I can hear you, right, babydoll?" His dark eyebrow rises. Naruto's self-control -officially- decided that it can't relate, and flew right out the window.

"And whose fucking fault is that?! I didn't ask to be bitten so that you can hear my thoughts and feel my emotions - that was all you, asshole!" Naruto did not notice that he invaded Sasuke's space during his outburst and is now standing in front of Sasuke's face - or more like chest. Sasuke's response was a one-shouldered shrug. Naruto huffs.

"Fine, you asshole, I will go out with you, but you have to let me do my work in peace. Got it?" Naruto muttered with a glare. Sasuke's smirk is once again plastered to his face.

"Yes yes, I will give you your peace. Tonight, be ready at seven. I will pick you up." Then the raven haired vampire disappeared. Naruto frowns, turns around, trying to locate one raven haired vampire that makes his heart jump funnily. Then the blonde spots him in the elevator, looking at the blonde with his dark eyes.

"Don't boss me around, you asshole!" Naruto yells just before the elevator doors close in front of a smiling vampire. Wait, smiling? Naruto shakes his head. No, who am I kidding? Uchiha's don't do smiles. With a sigh, the blonde gets back to his work - trying to ignore the little jumps his heart does.

Then the scenario changes, and with the scenario, the memory changes.

Naruto finds himself in front of his apartment's door after the - if he dares to call it- date. Sasuke took the blonde to a fancy - and expensive - restaurant and after the delicious dinner, they went to the beach. They walked along the shore and talked about everything and nothings. Naruto is surprised to find that Sasuke is actually a very sweet and thoughtful guy - when he isn't busy being a snarky and perverted asshole. And Naruto finds that side of Sasuke more funny than annoying now - he won't admit it out loud though.

"Thank you, Sasuke. I, actually, had a great night with you. Better than I thought." Naruto leans against the door with a smile.

"I had a wonderful night, too, babydoll. Maybe, we could go out again sometime?" Sasuke asks with dark eyes shining like a star sky and a small smirk adorning his lips. The raven leans down a bit, shadowing the smaller hunter.

"I would like that. But as of now, goodnight... Sasuke." Naruto smiles and closes his door. He is unable to do so, however, because of a dark shoe that is holding the door from closing. Then before Naruto has the chance to mutter anything, the door is ripped open to reveal stormy eyes full of unknown emotion. Naruto frowns.

"Is everything alright?" The blonde manages to mutter before the tall vampire leans down and presses his lips against the blonde's. Naruto freezes. But then, before his mind catches up to the situation, the raven's strong arms circle around the blonde's small waist. This snaps the blonde out of his shock and he responds to the kiss too, moving them against the raven's slightly cool ones. The kiss is slow and sensual with restricted tension. Naruto's arms seem to have a mind of their own, for they rise to rest on the vampire's sturdy chest, trailing the vampire's muscles along the way. In the end, Naruto rises to his tiptoes and circles his arms around Sasuke's shoulder and neck. The kiss leaves tingles on Naruto's lips and the feeling is addicting. In the end, when Naruto remembers that air is a necessity he separates from Sasuke's lips and slowly opens his eyes. The black debts are still locked on Naruto's - now rosy pink - lips with hunger. Then Sasuke pulls gently back, leaving a confused Naruto.

"Sorry, I shouldn't have done that-"

"Don't be." Naruto hastily interrupts the raven.

"It has been a long day and it's getting late. Would you like to stay here for tonight?" I don't know what came over me. Inviting him to stay overnight? Are you crazy Naruto?

"Oh babydoll, I didn't know you actually wanted me this much. Sleeping together after first date? Don't worry baby, I am all ready for you-"

"N-no, not like that! If you are only after sex, you can leave right now!" Naruto flushes and curses his stuttering. Sasuke only chuckles with his low voice making Naruto's heart do all kinds of somersaults.

"Don't worry, babydoll. I am just teasing you, I like seeing you blush. As for the invitation, thank you, I would love to stay over." And then Sasuke steps through the door, kicking it shut behind himself. And before Naruto can even open his mouth, Sasuke has once again locked their lips and taking Naruto's breath away.

(They didn't have sex, only making out until Naruto thought that his lungs would collapse.)

Then, the scenario changed again.

Naruto finds himself six months later after his and Sasuke's first date - six months into their relationship. Naruto wanted to keep the relationship off the radar - he had a hunch that his friends and work mates would have a field day when the information gets public. The blonde hunter was not wrong. Even the Big Boss was found chuckling with amusement.

And as much as Naruto wanted to resist the sexual tension between him and the raven vampire, he denies the fact that the blonde lost his virginity to the vampire after their first month anniversary. Needless to say, after that wonderful discovery, the blonde and the raven could not get enough of each other. Thus, it ended in - secret- quickies and steamy fuck sessions in public bathrooms, private offices' and janitor closets too many times to count. Most of them happened before anyone knew about their relationship. After the discovery of the century - Naruto's boss' Kakashi's words, not the blonde's - the couple tried to keep the dirty more or less in a more private setting.

In the Hunters' Society, everybody knows about the dream couple. Even Naruto's step-sister Sakura Haruno. After Naruto's parents' death, the Haruno family took Naruto in. Naruto does have Tsunade Sannin and Jiraya Sannin as godparents/grandparents but because they both have a building to attend to at the society, they had very little time for Naruto. Naruto does not view the Harunos as his parents but they are a family to him. Of course Naruto had Iruka, his guardian assigned by his parents. Apparently if something happened to the Namikaze and Uzumaki then Iruka would be Naruto's official guardian.

Anyhow, Naruto is very close to the Harunos and Sakura. When Sakura found out about Naruto's and Sasuke's relationship, the blond could not avoid the teasing.

Naruto wakes up in his bed to a sunrise. He and Sasuke had a date night the previos night. Naturally, after date night the duo ended up having sex. Naruto thinks the raven might have a problem. And unhuman stamina. His ass is sore, once again.

The blonde hums and stretches, unknowing of the hungry dark gaze trailing down his naked form. Only when Naruto felt a cool touch trailing his inner thigh - where was a bite mark from yesterday's activities - did he open his eyes to a dark gaze.

" 'Morning Sasuke"

"Good morning baby. Did you sleep well?"

Naruto hums lightly, nodding his head before turning to face the handsome vampire.

"My ass is sore though. You sure know how to use your hips." Naruto flirts, trailing his eyes hungrily down the vampire's pale and toned body.

"Benefits of being a vampire number one," the raven closes on the blonde, kissing his neck once, "superhuman strength, " kissing his neck twice, "and stamina that is out of this world."

Naruto laughs softly while tilting his back and closing his eyes, enjoying the feeling of lips against his sensitive neck.

"Bet those benefits boost your already over sized ego."

Sasuke chuckles, pulling back to look into sky blue eyes, fixing Naruto's blonde hair behind his eyes.

Before they could kiss, however, they heard the doorbell ring. Startled, they separated with surprised eyes.

"Were you expecting someone?" The raven asks.

"On Saturday morning, 7.30 am?" The blonde hunter answers with a raised eyebrow. Then they heard banging on the door.

"Naruto! I know you are in there, open up!" Naruto's eyes widens. It's Sakura!

They both jump out of bed, trying to find something to wear while the banging on the door gets more impatient. Naruto runs to the door opening it slightly, trying not to let Sakura get a glimpse inside his apartment.

"Hey Sakura, what's up sis?" Naruto really tries to sound unbothered but he really is too honest for his own good.

"Hey Naruto. I brought breakfast. Mom and dad really wanted me to bring your favorite: eggs, avocado and toast. Is there someone with you? You were taking so long." Sakura shows the plastic bag in her hands, trying to get inside the apartment but Naruto cuts her off.

"Yeah, I was still sleeping. Listen Sakura, I'm in the middle of a case so now is really not a good time." And then Naruto knew that he is fucked. Because Sakura's eyes shift to his neck and then to his thigh. Where Sasuke's bite mark is visible to the whole world. Why did I not put college pants on?

Before Naruto could even open his mouth, Sakura shoulders her way inside his apartment with a snort.

"I know you are sleeping with someone and I can't let this blackmail material go to waste-" She stops short because she sees a familiar dark haired vampire standing in the kitchen, trying to poorly hide behind a corner. Naruto facepalms and sighs. Sakura turns to him with her jaw open.

"You've been boning SASUKE?!"

"It kind of just happened."

"Why didn't you tell me?! This is huge news Naruto!"

"We were just trying this thing out and we were not sure about this relationship between a hunter and a vampire, so we kind of kept it under the wraps."

"Yeah, you mean under the sheets-"

"That is quite enough, Haruno." Sasuke interrupts the pinkette. Both Naruto and Sakura turn to the raven vampire. The raven shifts his gaze from Sakura to the blond.

"Is that really what you think about us, Naruto?" The raven asks.

"Sasuke, what are you-"

"Cause I have been dying to tell you the truth for three weeks. Now is the best time as any I suppose." The raven starts to walk slowly towards Naruto, his dark eyes focused only to the blonde haired one.

"What truth?" Sakura mutters.

"I have feelings for you, Naruto." Naruto's silly little heart starts to speed up. His breath hitches. What?

"Become my boyfriend, Naruto?" Now the raven stands in front of the blonde hunter, looking down at him with such soft eyes. His gaze makes Naruto's eyes wet but the blonde doesn't even realize this fact. He does not hear Sakura gasp either. His only focus in on this amazing man in front of him, wearing black collage pants and a shirt unbuttoned. Naruto realized, that there is nothing else on this world he wants more than the raven haired vampire.

"Yes, god, yes Sasuke, yes." He gasps, throwing himself in Sasuke's arms, kissing him with a smile so big the kiss is mostly teeth.

A cough separates them. However, Sasuke keeps his arm wrapped around Naruto's small waist. This gesture makes Naruto's heart beat just a bit faster.

"Congrats, I suppose. This comes as a shock to me, but I am happy for you" Sakura says with a gentle smile. Then the smile turn just a slightly more evil and Naruto just knows that her sister is going to a huge pain in his ass for this.

"So, Naruto. His dick that good, huh?" Naruto chokes on air, Sasuke snorts to a full-blown laughter and Sakura continues smirking evilly at his brother's misery.

And so the memory changes again.

Naruto's sleepy mind registers two strong - yet cool to touch - arms circle his waist from behind, pressing the blonde's back to a cool, firm chest. The next thing the blonde's mind registers is cool lips pressing a kiss to the back of his neck. Naruto sighs. It takes few more kisses from the vampire - that Naruto calls his boyfriend - to wake him up and make him turn around in the strong yet gentle embrace. Naruto opens his eyes slowly to reveal warm onyx eyes staring at him with galaxies in them. Naruto's lips stretch to a smile. Like a disease, Sasuke's lips catch the same infection, for a smile appears on his lips too.

"Good morning, baby." The raven vampire says with his low and silky voice.

"Mornin'" The blonde mumbles, his voice still having some traces of the blissful sleep in it. Sasuke chuckles. Then they stare into each other's eyes, slowly and mindlessly tracing fingertips against biceps, pecs, the dimples of the lower back, along the spine and the back of a neck. The vampire's eyes turn serious.

"I have to go hunting. Been busy with work so there has been no time for feeding." Naruto frowns.

"You know that you can drink from me, right Sasuke?" A small smile appears on the vampire's face.

"I know baby. But you know I have difficulties controlling myself when it comes to your blood. I don't want to lose control around you."

Naruto remembers vividly the one time Sasuke almost lost control when he was feeding from Naruto. Thank god Sasuke's blood helped healing the blonde. Yet, Naruto can't help but trust Sasuke to not hurt him.

"You won't hurt me."

Naruto gently cradles Sasuke's face between his hands and guides it to his throat. He drops his head back, making room for the vampire. The vampire cups the back of the blonde's arched neck, gently tracing his thumb over the blonde's pulse. Then the vampire licks the pulse, making Naruto's eyes flutter shut because of the sensation. The licks are followed by open mouthed kisses.

"You know", Kiss. "that I", another kiss. "love you." A lick. "So fucking much." A small nip.

Naruto's breath hitches when his fuzzy mind registers the raven's words. Before the blonde knows it, tears are running down his cheeks and small whimpers escape his lips - making the vampire alarmed.

"Babydoll, why are you crying. Did I say something strange?"

We never said those words out loud.

"Sasuke, I love you too. So much." And Naruto takes a hold of Sasuke's neck, pulling him down and smashing their lips together in a kiss full of love and passion. There are still few tears escaping Naruto's sky blue eyes. I never thought I would love a person as much as I love you.

"Shit, baby." Sasuke rolls on top of the smaller male, between two tan thighs.

"Sasuke, mark me. Give me your mark."

"Baby, you sure? I don't want you to regret it." Sasuke rests his forehead against the blonde's, gazing into his sky blue eyes, still wet from tears.

Vampires have mate bites - or claim bites, how you want to call them. They do not necessarily bound for life but they do scar for life. So a person to be carrying a claim mark nowadays is very rare. And if people have those, they are usually in a place that is hidden.

"Yes, but please, make it not visible. You know how the society gets." Office relationships are more common but claim marks is a bit conservative topic and is frowned upon - especially if the one baring the mark is a hunter.

"Okay baby, where you want it?"

"On my thigh, please. Wanna be able to feel it through clothes." The vampire visibly shuddered, groaning, the thought too delectable to be true.

"Fuck, baby. You will be the death of me." Naruto giggles softly, breathlessly. His arms are laying above his head - a sign of submission. Sasuke starts his slow journey down Naruto's body, pressing soft kisses, small licks and nips along his way. Naruto closes his eyes, enjoying the sensation. The blond raises his legs over the raven's broad shoulders, his favorite place for them. The vampire gets to his destination - still licking around the area he will place his claim upon.

"I love you baby." And with a final kiss to the tan thigh, Sasuke bites to the thigh. Naruto gasps because the sensation is familiar by now but also entirely new. His moans come out, he probably could not control them even if he tried to. Naruto could feel all the love and passion through that one bite, and all these new sensations overwhelms him - in a delicious way.

"S-Sasuke, oh my god." He gasps through the pleasure. Please, love. And Sasuke knows right away what Naruto needs. The raven slips three fingers inside Naruto, immediately hitting his prostate, making Naruto's back arch off the bed. Before Naruto knows it, he comes. Falls right off the edge into white burning pleasure that makes his thighs tremble on Sasuke's shoulders.

Then, the scenario changes one last time.

Naruto is walking home from work. He has been staying too much at Sasuke's place and though he loves wearing his boyfriends clothes, they are a tad too big for him to work in. The raven said he had a lot of work to do so he probably stays till midnight at the office. Naruto texted Sasuke that he stops by his own apartment to pick up some clothes. While Naruto was walking towards his apartment he got a text message from Sakura. She wants to meet at the blondes place and apparently, it's very important.

For some strange reason, Naruto feels uneasy about this message. The text was written strangely. Sakura uses emojies frustratingly much, and for some reason this text did not have any.

Is she in trouble, by change? Naruto muses. Nah, she is a good girl. She knows better than to get herself into trouble. And yet, why Naruto's stomach turned more the closer he gets to his apartment?

Naruto arrives to his door, fumbling with his keys nervously. He pushes his keys to the keyhole only to realize that his door was already open. The blonde slowly opens his door, heart hammering in his chest. His place is pitch dark.

"Sakura?" The blonde whispers to his dark apartment. Something does not feel right. Naruto carefully touches his knife. There is no answer coming from his apartment.

The blonde turns on the lights and carefully shuts the door, ears on high alert for any sounds.

"Sakura? Are you here?" The hunter raises his voice only to meet with silence once again.

Until he hears a small sound coming from his bedroom down the hall. Naruto silently grabs his knife and sneaks closer to his room. He opens the slightly ajar door - only to be met with a scene that breaks his heart.

His sister is lying on the floor covered in blood with a shadowy person looming over her unconscious form. The blond presses the light switch to turn on the lights. When his sky blue eyes register the person standing over Sakura's form, his heart breaking into a million pieces.

"No..."

"Naruto, huh?" The same voice that whispered sweet nothings to the blonde's ear just hours ago. The same voice that had so much emotion in it a month ago when it whispered his love for the blonde. The same voice that always sends shivers down the hunter's spine.

"Sasuke, what are-"

Sasuke stood over Sakura with blood all over his lips and jaw. The same lips that kiss Naruto so gently. Naruto gasps and rushes over to Sakura's form, feeling for a pulse with trembling hands. To Naruto's utmost horror, he could not feel any pulse.

"Y-You, you killed her." Naruto whispered with uneven breaths. The raven only gazes the blond with empty onyx eyes.

"WHY?! WHY DID YOU KILL HER?!" The blonde screamed, turning his watery eyes towards his boyfriend. Sasuke did not answer.

"ANSWER ME, YOU SON OF A BITCH! WHY DID YOU KILL HER!"

"I had a job, Naruto. She was my job. She was reported on the black list as a enemy. I had to dispose of her." Sasuke says with emotionless voice. Naruto's mind did not recognize that voice for it was too hollow, too empty to be the voice of the man he loves.

"Heh, job? My sister was a job to you? Enemy?" Naruto scoffs with tears streaming down his cheeks, unstoppable.

"You wouldn't understand, Naruto."

"Make me understand, Sasuke." Naruto spoke brokenly, desperation in his eyes, coercing Sasuke to say somathing - ANYTHING - to make him understand the situation at hand. The blonde grit his teeth together in frustration. Please, Sasuke.

The blonde did not get his answer from the vampire.

"Get out." Naruto whispered with finality - the words coming out with no emotion. The words got a reaction out of Sasuke, for he gazed at Naruto with a slight fear in his eyes. Now you show me reactions, you bastard.

"Naruto, you really don't understand, I-"

"NO SASUKE! I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND AND I DO NOT WANT TO! YOU JUST KILLED MY SISTER WITH NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION OTHER THAN YOU BULLSHIT! I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!"

"Naruto, we can talk about this-"

"NO! LISTEN TO ME! WE ARE OVER!" Naruto did not see the pain in Sasuke's eyes when he yelled these words out loud. Naruto only wanted the vampire out of his sight.

"Get out." And with that, Naruto only heard the gush of air until he heard nothing but his cries. Sasuke was gone. Out of his life. The one thing that had started to matter in his life was gone. And it broke Naruto. He started screaming from the top of his lungs while holding Sakura's body in his arms. Naruto did not know how long he cried, how long he held Sakura's body until he faintly heard Iruka - his guardian - calling his name. Even then he didn't register the arms of his father-figure holding him tight. The only thing Naruto registered was the loss of a family member, and the loss of the love of his life.

Sakura's funeral was a month after the incident. After she was buried next to Naruto's parents, Naruto moved to the other side of the city. Naruto went down to the office to give his witness testimony but he did not tell it was Sasuke who killed her. Somehow the blonde knew it would be futile to blame Sasuke on it. He was sure Itachi was aware of Sasuke killing her. Naruto became depressed. He was on sick leave from work. The pain was unbearable. The blonde had trouble sleeping and eating. Iruka had to come by every day to make sure the blonde ate something. Eventually, however, Naruto felt better... somehow.

Since Naruto moved to different part of the city, he also moved to a different building. All this to avoid seeing Sasuke. And it worked for three years. Until fate brought the old lovers back again. Naruto noticed that he didn't feel that much pain anymore. The pain had turned into an anger. Yes, he was vividly mad at Sasuke but a small - tiny part of him still loved him. And the blonde knows he will never get completely over him.

With these memories, Naruto wakes up to a new day...

I have been working with this piece for the last six months. I kept writing some parts of it again and again until I realized I had hit a writers block (not the first time).
