A/N-I DO NOT OWN THE NAKED BROTHERS BAND!
Hey guys!
So I have some good news. I'm working on ANOTHER story! And it may or may not be another part in the whole "That Summer" "Where I'm Going" story...? I don't really have an exact plot line, but I've got a chapter and a half done already. I'm not really even sure if it's going to be apart of that story, unless you guys would like it to be? It's sort of a little if-y right now so I'm not sure. Either way, it's a new story! I'm not sure if I'll post this new story first or "Just A Face In the Hall". It depends on how everything goes.
Anyway, enjoy the story!
Rosalina's POV
I watched as Alex slowly got up off the exam table, walked over to me and collapsed beside me. I put an arm around him.
I knew Nat was mad. Okay, that's an understatement. I knew he was furious with me. I just wish he'd say something, anything to me. I was dreading talking to him but I knew it had to be done. I did what I did because it was for his and Alex's safety.
I watched as they examined Nat, by taking his blood pressure, and feeling around his chest and arms to see if anything hurt. I was afraid for him, because I knew he didn't want them to find out about his side. However, when the woman touched his side, I saw him flinch.
The woman gently lifted Nat's shirt, and revealed something that would become one of the worst bruises I've ever seen. I can't even look at it long enough to describe it, but on the simplest, non-grossest terms, Nat's side was almost entirely black and blue.
"We need to get him in for an x-ray as soon as possible," The woman told another E.M.T. "His ribs might be collapsed or damaged."
"Does that hurt?" Nat managed to ask.
"No honey, it's just like taking a picture. Quick and easy, I promise."
"Are you in any kind of pain?" She asked, looking down at him.
"Yeah." I could tell he was forcing himself to say it. I guess he figured there's no use in hiding it now.
"Okay, just relax, we'll be there soon."
Nat sighed and turned his head to look at me and Alex. Instead of glaring at me, like he had been, he looked scared. I didn't know if it was because Alex was there or not, but he wasn't glaring anymore.
We reached the hospital and after some convincing, Nat was able to walk to the x-ray room. (A/N-I'm sorry I don't know what that's called lol.) A few doctors walked ahead of us, leading the way, but Nat, Alex and I walked slowly behind. At first Nat and I stood at a distance but eventually I got the courage to walk up to him. "You okay?" I whispered.
He nodded.
"Nat, c'mon talk to me. Please."
"Here we are," A doctor interrupted, as we stopped in front of a door. "Nat, please come with me. The rest of you can remain out here for a few minutes."
The doctors walked inside with Nat, and Alex and I sat in the hallway. "He's mad," Alex said. "But he's scared."
"I know."
"Do you think he'll be okay?"
"He'll be fine," I said. "Everything will be fine from now on."
We sat in silence waiting for Nat to come out. When he did the doctor looked at Alex and me. "None of you seem to have any life-threatening injuries however we have to wait for the results of Nat's x-ray to say anything more."
"Can we go home?" Nat spoke up.
"We're going to contact a legal guardian or someone who is a responsible adult. Until then, we'd prefer you all stay in a room here in the hospital."
"We can't do that," Nat spoke up again. "We don't have money to pay for that."
"Free of charge," The doctor added. "We just want to make sure you all are safe. And Nat, you should really rest. Even if your rib is only bruised, moving around will only make it feel worse."
"I'm fine," Nat said, and I could tell he was becoming irritated with the doctor.
"Dr. Brennan will show you to your room," The nameless doctor said, gesturing to a man with neat blonde hair beside him.
Dr. Brennan led the way to a room farther down the hallway. "Stay in here until another doctor comes to get you. There's a bathroom to your left." He didn't say anymore, and left, shutting the door behind him.
Alex sat in a chair and sighed.
Nat walked over to the single bed in the room and collapsed onto it, wincing immediately.
I walked over to the bed, and sat on the edge. "You okay?" I asked again.
He just stared at me, and then very cautiously turned on his side.
"Nat c'mon please talk to me. I know you're mad. I'd rather have you yelling at me then you not talking to me at all."
"You broke your promise," He mumbled. "You broke my trust in you."
"Nat, it was for–"
"It doesn't matter," He spoke up. "You knew what would happen. I told you I didn't want that for Alex. You promised you wouldn't do it."
"I know I promised, but when Alex called and he was crying I was afraid something was really wrong."
"Everything was fine. I had it under control."
"That's why you were throwing up right? That's why Alex was hiding in the closet? That's why your dad was pounding on the door ready to 'finish you off'?"
Nat didn't respond.
"I don't even want to think of what he was planning on doing to you."
"You still broke your promise," He said. "I trusted you, Rosalina."
"Nat, I only did what I did because I care about you."
"If you cared about me then you would've listened to me."
"I was scared, Nat." Now he was looking me in the eye. "I was scared that I wouldn't see you again. I was scared that I wouldn't talk to you again; that I wouldn't be able to hear you laugh or your voice. I was scared for you and for Alex. So I did what should've been done a long time ago. I'm sorry I broke my promise to you, really I am. But I wouldn't take it back if I had the chance." I moved to get off the bed, but Nat grabbed my wrist.
"Wait," He said quietly. "I'm sorry. You're right. I was just afraid."
"Afraid of what?"
"I was afraid that if I did something it would come back to haunt me or something."
"Well lucky for you it'll come back and haunt me if anything," I joked.
"No it won't," He said, smiling weakly at me. "I won't let it."
"How are you?" I asked, glancing down at his side.
Nat shifted slightly. "Sore. Very, very incredibly sore."
"Do you want me to go find Dr. Brennan? Maybe they can give you something."
"No, no, no," He moaned. "That'll make me sleep. And the last thing I want is to fall asleep in this creepy place."
"Who knows how long we'll be here," I said. "Maybe a nap would be good."
"Heck no," He said, shaking his head. "Hopefully they can talk to Jesse before anything–"
The door opened and Dr. Brennan walked in. "We were able to contact someone to pick you all up. However while we're waiting for your test results to come back, we'd prefer if Nat stayed here."
"No way," Nat said, slowly getting off the bed.
Alex moved to hide behind us again.
"You can barely move as it is," Dr. Brennan said.
"And I'll barely move at home."
"Please, this is your health we're talking about. You just need to stay for one night so that we can figure out what kind of medication to give you. Once we do that, we'll give you what you need and you'll be free to go home."
"Can't you just give me something now?"
Dr. Brennan sighed. "Alright, but we expect you to come in for periodic checkups, understood?"
"Yes, sir."
A/N-So what do you guys think of the chapter? What about the possible story?
