Once again, I'm so sorry for the long wait. It's my final school year, so I'm really busy with my exams, but once they're finished, I will upload more frequently. I want to thank all of you for still reading and commenting. You're amazing! As for this chapter, I skipped some time because I really want to get to the interesting part where it will change from what the show has given us. For this chapter, I made a few alterations but I think you can guess from which episodes I took my inspiration. This chapter is for Halle Alexis who wanted a little bit of Michael/Owen quality time. I hope this is what you meant! Enjoy!
'How the hell could this have happened?' Michael stormed into Operations, not caring whether everyone would hear him or not. Ryan and Nikita turned around to face him, while he heard Birkhoff mutter something, which sounded very much like 'Oh dear, here we go.' He decided to ignore it and walked straight towards his fiancée.
'You were there with her, weren't you? How could you have let this happen?'
Before Nikita could answer, Ryan stepped in between the two of them. 'Michael, there's no reason to act like this towards Nikita. We both know she could not have done anything to save Alex.'
Michael snorted but kept silent, still glaring at the woman in front of him.
'Guys, hate to break it to you but maybe you should go take this conversation elsewhere. Unless you want everyone to enjoy your little soap scene.' Birkhoff had joined the three of them.
Michael nodded. Birkhoff was right, the last thing this place needed was to see that their leaders weren't agreeing with each other anymore. So he followed Ryan into his office, Nikita and Birkhoff not far behind. The minute Birkhoff closed the door, Nikita started.
'What the hell was that Michael? Are you insane? First of all, do you really think I would not have gotten Alex out if I had the chance? Secondly, you know Division is unstable as it is, you biting my head off in public is not helping at all! And thirdly, why are you so upset in the first place? It's not the first time something like this has happened. We just need to come up with a plan.'
Michael took a deep breath before answering. 'Maybe you weren't able to save her, but she wasn't supposed to be there in the first place! Do you really think I don't know why the two of you were overseas? I know you want me to get my hand back and of course I'd like that as well, but this is not the way. You can't risk your own life for a stupid hand and neither can Alex! She is feeling guilty enough, without all this stuff. You should have tried to keep her here instead of encouraging her to come with you! I really appreciate what you guys are trying to do, but is my life, my hand, so you should have discussed it with me first instead of just running off like this. If you had, maybe this would not have happened.'
'How did you know this was about getting your hand back?'
Birkhoff cleared his throat. 'I might have told him about The Shop.'
Nikita rolled her eyes. 'Really, Birkhoff? You can't keep one secret?'
'Sorry Nikki. He deserved to know. Although I didn't expect him to burst in like some maniac after hearing about Alex.'
Michael rubbed his face with his hand. 'Yeah, sorry about that. That wasn't the best tactical decision I've made in my life.'
Birkhoff snorted. 'Understatement of the year.'
He rolled his eyes and turned to Nikita again. 'Sorry I snapped at you.' And he meant it. It was incredibly unfair to just act like this to her just because she had not been able to protect Alex. She was probably even more worried about Alex than he was. When Nikita didn't answer he continued.
'It's just that I feel like it's my fault she's there. I knew the two of you were planning something and if it weren't for me complaining about this mechanic hand, you two wouldn't have come up with a plan like that and both of you would probably be standing here, right now.'
Nikita's eyes softened. She took a step forward and ran her hands up his arms. 'It's okay, it's not your fault. You were right; I should have thought it through before acting on my ideas. But we're going to get her out of there, okay?'
He nodded grimly and turned towards Ryan. 'What do we know about her position?'
Ryan was about to answer when the door opened and Sean came walking in. 'Hey, I heard something happened with Alex. Is she all right?'
Michael raised an eyebrow at him. Alex had told him last week that she and Sean had sort of gotten back together again, so he had expected a little bit more panic than what the SEAL showed right now. 'That's all?' He couldn't help but ask.
'Excuse me?'
'Your girlfriend has been abducted by Amanda and is probably in grave danger right now and the only thing you ask is whether she's all right! What do you think?'
He could see Sean was taken aback by this comment but once again Ryan stepped in, before it could turn into a real argument. 'We know Amanda has grabbed her out of a police car, which we found abandoned at this parking lot.' He pointed towards the screen behind his desk.
'Any luck with traffic cams to figure out where they went next?' Michael stared at the screen, trying to figure out a solution.
'No, I tried that already but I came up empty. Amanda knows how Division works, she's smarter than to get caught by one of those camera's.' Birkhoff stood next to him with a tablet in his hands.
Nikita tapped the desk thoughtfully. 'So we have to stop thinking like Division. We need to start thinking like Amanda.'
Michael nodded. 'First of all, what does she want with Alex? Why not grab you instead?'
'I was not in that police car at the time. We had decided she would take the fall and I'd get her out after finding the file we needed.'
'Okay, but that's how we always operate. Amanda must have seen that coming, so why not wait until both of you were at the same place. You couldn't have done much at the police station. It would have been the perfect moment to get her hands on both of you. Instead she just took Alex. Why?'
'Leverage?' Sean opted.
Nikita and Michael simultaneously shook their heads. 'No, she would have called by now. Besides, I've left the country already, if she wanted to use Alex as leverage, she should have acted immediately.'
'Maybe information?' Birkhoff asked. 'She tortured me, trying to gain information. Maybe that's what she wants to do with Alex.'
Michael felt nauseous at the thought of Amanda torturing Alex. He had seen her torture many people and none of those moments had been pretty. Before his mind could take him to those moments, Ryan luckily provided some logic.
'What kind of information could Alex possibly have that would be useful for Amanda? We're looking for Amanda after all, not the other way around. If she wants to know about us, she can easily walk in here. She knows where we are, so what could Alex give her that she doesn't know already?'
'Okay, so if it's not information nor leverage…' Nikita started before Michael interrupted her.
'An ally? Maybe that's what she wants. She has lost Sonya as her mole so she needs someone else to sabotage our missions. Maybe she wants to try to persuade Alex to become her mole. After all, it wouldn't be the first time Alex plays her role as a double agent.'
'But surely she knows Alex won't turn at us. Last time Alex decided to work with her, it was because she wanted to get Semak. What does she have now that can persuade Alex?' Nikita asked.
'I don't know, but it seems like the only logical option.'
Ryan nodded. 'It's definitely a possibility. But it doesn't help us with figuring out where she's keeping Alex. She would need an isolated location, where Alex can make a scene without being noticed. It needs to be near a highway so they can leave at the first sign of danger.'
'It needs to be abandoned as well. Amanda does not have that much money left, she can't waist money on renting a place.' Nikita added.
Michael turned to Birkhoff. 'Can you check how many places have those things in common?' He wasn't even finished before Birkhoff started to work on his tablet.
'Four locations.' A huge map appeared on the screen with four red dots on them.
'That's too many. We can't storm them all at the same time and it will take too long to do them one by one. We need to be able to narrow it down somehow.' Michael muttered.
'Maybe that's not so difficult.' Nikita came to stand next to Birkhoff. 'Can you pull up any video footage of these places of the past couple of days?'
He nodded and soon enough video footage appeared next to two of the four dots. 'I'm running facial recognition now, but there's no sign of Amanda nor Alex.'
Nikita smiled. 'Wasn't expecting that. Amanda would pick a location without cameras, knowing we would check them first. Meaning she is in either one of those buildings we don't have footage of.'
'You know, you're pretty smart if you want to, Nikki.'
Nikita winked. 'Thanks, nerd.'
Ryan nodded and raised his hand to get everyone's attention. 'We can't send any other agents on this mission. We've got enough trouble with them already. You're on your own here.'
Michael nodded. 'So we split up. Nikita and Sean can take one building, I can take the other one.'
'I don't think so.' Nikita joined in. 'You're still not entirely used to that mechanic hand. You need the back up more than I do. Sean is going with you.'
Before Michael could protest, the office door opened once again and Owen entered. 'Sorry to interrupt, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. It seems like you're in need of another man.' He grinned. 'Lucky for you, I haven't left this place yet. I'm in.'
Michael smiled. 'Thanks man.' Then he turned to the others. 'We're leaving in half an hour. Make sure you're ready. This is Amanda we're talking about.'
It had become dark by the time they arrived at the private airport. Nikita and Sean had been catching up on some sleep while he and Owen had been going through the plan once again. Owen and Nikita would take one of the houses, Sean and Michael the other. It seemed like the logical option, giving the fact that Sean and Owen hardly knew each other and Michael and Owen still weren't the best of friends, although Michael was very grateful for his offer to help out. Still, him pairing up with Nikita seemed like the best idea.
Thanks to Birkhoff, two cars were waiting for them when they arrived.
'Michael, can I talk to you for a minute?' Nikita walked towards him. He frowned confused but nodded anyway and followed her towards one of the cars.
'Be careful, okay? I know you think this is your fault, but it's not. We'll find Alex, don't do anything reckless.'
He nodded and smiled at her. 'Promise, as long as you do the same.'
Nikita returned the smile and kissed him softly. 'Deal.'
'Hey, maybe I'm wrong but I thought we were on some kind of rescue mission here.' Owen yelled from where he and Sean were standing. Michael sighed and suddenly remembered again why he had never liked the former guardian. His awful timing was definitely part of the problem. Nikita winked at him and walked towards the other two, leaving him no choice but to follow. Sean was already in the car, so after one last glance at Nikita, he entered the passenger side and checked his gun once again while Sean drove away. They drove in silence, which was fine by Michael. It was not that he didn't like the SEAL, he respected the soldier and understood him better than most because of his own past in the army. He just didn't like the way he had treated Alex. It seemed like he cared, but not enough to truly love her. He knew he sounded like an overprotective mentor, but he thought Alex deserved better than that.
'We're here.' Sean's voice interrupted his train of thoughts. Michael nodded and looked outside the window. The building looked abandoned, but you never knew with Amanda.
'Okay, here's the plan. We go in quiet, our goal is to find information about Alex' position and if possible we're going to rescue her. The less people we kill, the better. We can't afford to attract any attention.'
'Got it.' Sean muttered and left the car, gun in one hand. Michael frowned and followed his partner. It was very quiet outside, almost too quiet. He pointed towards one entrance and then to Sean, indicating which one he wanted Sean to go to. Luckily, the SEAL understood and both men moved without a sound towards their goal. Once they both reached their doors, they shared a look. Once Michael nodded, they both opened it and then Michael lost sight of Sean. To be honest, he had lost sight of most things. The hallway in front of him was very dark and it took him a moment to let his eyes get used to the lack of light. Then he could make out a vague silhouette at the end of the hallway. Slowly, Michael made his way over towards the silhouette, recognizing that the person was standing with his back towards Michael. Once he was right behind the man, he turned his gun and smacked him on the head with it. The man went down without a sound.
Michael moved towards the next door but stopped dead in his tracks when he heard the sound of footsteps. 'I almost cracked her, we just need a little bit more time.' Michael held his breath. That was definitely Amanda's voice and he was almost certain the 'her' in the conversation was Alex. He opened the door quietly and snuck out, only to find himself in a new hallway. He could see the shadow of Amanda on the wall to his right, where she had just turned around the corner. As much as he hated Amanda, Alex was the main goal right now. So instead of following Amanda, he turned left, hoping to find something useful. When he was just far enough to be sure no one would hear him, he activated his earpiece. 'I'm in the right building. Amanda has been seen walking to the south, I'm taking the northern part, trying to see whether I can find Alex there.'
'Copy that.' Nikita's voice sounded in his ear. 'We're coming to you
Michael waited for a couple of seconds but he did not hear anything from Sean. 'Sean, do you copy?'
'Yeah, Amanda is in the part south from you.'
Michael rolled his eyes but didn't say anything. Nikita on the other hand couldn't help but add something. 'Remember, Alex is our priority today.'
Michael had a feeling the SEAL did not completely agree with them, but he decided to let it go for now. The more time he wasted here, the smaller the chance he would find Alex. He continued walking down the hallway. Soon he heard soft whispers. He stopped and waited for a moment, trying to hear what they were saying. Unfortunately, the distance was too great to hear more than a soft murmuring. He proceeded slowly, with his back against the wall and his gun in his hand. When he looked around the corner, two men stood in front of a door. They were both heavily armed. He pulled back again.
'Sean, I'm gonna need some help here. Two guards, if I want to take them down quietly, I need you here.'
'Sorry, Michael. I'm too far away from you to be of any help. Don't you have a silencer?'
Ryan's voice joined in. 'What do you mean, you're too far away? You know where Michael is, you're task was to join him and save Alex.'
'Where the hell are you, Sean?' Michael added.
'I'm heading south, trying to get a clear shot at Amanda.'
Michael could barely suppress a groan. What was wrong with that guy? 'Birkhoff, can you cut Sean out of my communication? I only need people I can rely on right now.'
'Got it, Mikey.' Judging by Birkhoff's voice, he wasn't too happy with Seans behaviour either.
'I don't have time to wait for Nikita, I'm going in.' He murmured and stepped around the corner. It took the guards a few seconds before they noticed him. When they did, they immediately raised their guns.
'Hey, I was just wondering whether you guys could let me through without making a mess?' Michael asked, not really caring what the answer would be, but it gave him the opportunity to step closer in front of them. Before they could answer, he knocked his elbow against the gun of one guard and knocked him on the head with his own gun. The other guard stood with his gun raised, uncertain what to do.
'Don't move.' He said with a heavy accent. 'Or I'll shoot.'
Michael smiled. Obviously, these were amateurs. Without a second thought, he moved in and within seconds the guard joined his partner on the ground. 'I'd like to see you try.' He muttered before stepping over the two men and opening the next door. Behind it was a small stair. He climbed it carefully and ducked down when he saw another two men standing at the top of the stairs. They were facing him, but hadn't spotted him yet. He was about to try to get a shot at them, when both of them suddenly slumped down. Nikita and Owen appeared behind them.
'Lucky for you, we're faster than you think.' Nikita winked at him. He grinned and followed the two agents towards the next door.
'We will only have a couple of minutes before they will notice four of their men are down. We need to move fast.' Michael muttered.
Owen nodded. 'We'll hold them off, you go find Alex.'
Nikita nodded as well. 'Right now, we're the better shutters. Let's go.'
Quietly they moved through another three hallways, leaving a trail of unconscious bodies behind. The fourth hallway had six guards instead of the usual two. The hallway had a small door at the left.
Nikita nudged his shoulder. 'Go, we'll cover you.' He nodded and ran towards the door, relying on Nikita and Owen to distract the guards. The sight of one guard falling on the floor and the sound of gunshots confirmed his assumption. He quickly opened the door, and got in, waiting until the guards came close enough to Nikita and Owen to leave the path behind them clear. Michael waited five seconds and then opened the door again, running towards the end of the hallway and quickly went through another door. After closing the door he turned around and stopped for a moment. Instead of another hallway or staircase as he had expected, he found himself in a huge white room, with one bed and a chair, which looked like the one Amanda had used in her torture rooms back in Division. The room was dimly lit and he could barely make out a figure lying in the bed. When he came closer he recognized Alex. Her wrists and ankles were bound with iron shackles to the bed and her head had been held back with a leather band around her forehead. When he stood next to her, she opened her eyes and he could see fear written all over her face.
'Hey, it's okay. It's me, you're safe now. We're here to save you.'
'Michael?' She let out a raw whisper, which quickly turned into a cough.
'Shh, don't speak. Just lay still okay? I'm going to get you out of here.'
She tried to nod, but the band around her head prevented the movement. Michael narrowed his eyes at the sight and quickly pulled out a knife from his boot and carefully cut the band away. Then he focused on the iron shackles. He couldn't find a keyhole or anything he might be able to break away. He sighed and took a couple of steps back. 'I can't get them open with my knife. I'm going to have to shoot them. Do you trust me?'
She nodded and closed her eyes, moving her head to the other side. He quickly got out his gun and aimed at her wrist. Never had he wished more for his normal hand than now. If he even missed one inch, he wouldn't be the only one with a mechanic hand. He took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. The sound echoed through the room and there was a flash of light near the shackle. Alex tried to move her hand but it didn't work. Michael quickly got closer again and looked at the shackle. If the situation hadn't been so serious, he would have laughed at the sight of his perfect shot. He had shot the hinges apart from each other, the only thing he needed to do was pull them apart and Alex could get one hand out. Soon enough the others followed and he lifted her of the bed. He tried to set her down on the ground, but her knees gave out from underneath her and he quickly caught her in his arms.
'I got Alex, she's safe. Nikita, what's your position?' He asked while lifting Alex in his arms and carrying her towards the door.
'We're just past the last guard.' Nikita answered and opened the door after that. At the sight of the broken girl in front of her, she immediately rushed to his side and took a hold of Alex' hand. 'Hey there.' She whispered.
'Nikita? You came for me.' Alex answered slowly.
'Of course we did.' Nikita smiled. 'What did you take us for?' Nikita squeezed her hand one last time before turning to Michael again 'Can you carry her?'
He nodded. 'No problem, if you can hold of the guards.'
'Yeah, about that. We might have a problem.' Owen joined in.
Michael carefully looked through the doorway and saw another five guards nearing their position. He cursed quietly and put Alex down on the ground. 'I'll be back for you, okay?' He promised and drew his gun to join Owen and Nikita in the hallway. He was about to fire a shot when Amanda entered the hallway.
'What a pleasant surprise to see team Nikita here.' Amanda said while walking towards them. The three of them raised their guns and aimed at her.
She didn't look the slightest bit alarmed and just smiled. 'Really, Nikita? You're gravely outnumbered. Of course you could try to fight your way out of here, but would all of you survive? We can't risk losing dear Alex, can we?'
Nikita narrowed her eyes at the woman in front of her.
'The way I see it, your best chance is to leave Alex behind and we will let you go.'
Michael raised his eyebrows. 'You'd let us go? Just like that? You expect us to believe that?'
Amanda shrugged. 'I don't care what you believe. All I care about is facts, and right now the facts are that you're highly outnumbered and I'm giving you a way out. Be smart Michael and take it.'
'Not going to happen. We're not leaving here without Alex.'
'I didn't know you cared so much about her, Michael. Does your fiancée know you kissed Alex?'
Before Michael could answer, Nikita stepped in. 'I do, actually it was my plan. Worked out quite well don't you think? I mean, you losing your mole and the watchman in one night. Sounds like a win to me.'
Amanda narrowed her eyes, but quickly composed herself. 'You call Michael losing his hand a win?'
Michael raised his gun again and aimed at Amanda's head. 'Don't worry, I can still shoot you.'
Amanda smiled, clearly not impressed. Alex interrupted the moment when she stumbled through the doorway. Michael wanted to help her, but Owen had already caught her in his arms, which gave him the opportunity to keep his gun aimed at Amanda.
'Let her go, Michael.' She mumbled. 'Let's just get out of here.'
'I love the idea, Alex.' He answered grimly. 'But I'm afraid the psycho bitch won't let us go so easily.'
Alex groaned and tried to get a better look at Amanda, but immediately fell back against Owens solid body.
'You know, she really doesn't look that well. Perhaps she needs to stay here and rest.' The amusement was very clear in Amanda's voice.
'I don't think so.' Sean suddenly appeared behind Amanda, his gun touched the back of her head. 'You're going to let us pass or I'll shoot a bullet straight through your brain.' He told her calmly.
Michael felt a wave of irritation at the sight of the SEAL but it was soon replaced by relief, when he realized it could be their way out. Amanda swallowed visibly, which caused him to smirk. Apparently she did have some fear left in her.
'Tell your guys to step aside.' Sean ordered. He didn't have to ask twice. Amanda gave a signal with her hand and the guards stepped away. Michael exchanged a quick glance with Nikita to see if she thought it was safe enough. She gave him a small nod and he lowered his gun to take Alex from Owen allowing Owen to take his weapon again. Slowly, they made their way through the hallway until they were safely past the guards and Amanda. Michael saw Nikita and Sean exchanging a look before Sean stepped away from Amanda and joined them at the door.
Amanda smiled and turned to look at Alex. 'Don't forget about the people you're leaving behind, Alex. Don't forget about those who haven't been so lucky.'
Owen and Michael shared a confused look, but decided not to react.
'Birkhoff, I do hope you have a plan to get us out of here?' Michael muttered softly.
'Do you even have to ask?' Birkhoff answered before launching into a full description of the fastest escape route out of the building.
They quickly followed his instructions, Michael carrying Alex and the others covering him as best as they could. When they made it out of the building, Owen had a couple of scratches and Sean had almost been hit by a bullet but they all made it out alive. When they walked towards their cars, they realized no one was following them.
'You think she just gave up?' Sean asked hesitantly.
Nikita shot him a dark look. 'I don't know Sean, maybe you should ask her. You know, since you're so keen on finding her instead of looking for Alex.'
Michael tried to hide a smile at that, but apparently he failed miserably, because Owen shot him a knowing look before opening the back of one car so Michael could put Alex down. Nikita slid in next to her and slammed the door shut, clearly pissed at the SEAL.
'Maybe you can take the other car.' Owen suggested and pointed at Sean. The soldier nodded, quickly got in the car and drove away. Owen took the driver's side so Michael joined him in the passenger's side. They drove in silence for the first five minutes. When Michael looked behind him to check on the girls, he smiled at the sight. Nikita had pulled Alex' head into her lap and she had her arms protectively around the other girl. Both were fast asleep. He turned around again and glanced at Owen before he looked back at the road again.
'Thank you.' He said quietly.
'For what?'
'Risking your life to save Alex. I know that Amanda has screwed with your head, but you went straight for Alex instead of trying to get information from Amanda.'
Owen snorted. 'I'm not like that miserable excuse of a SEAL.'
Michael smirked at the description. Usually he would have protected Sean, but today he was as pissed as the others. 'Seriously though, thank you.'
Owen nodded. 'You're welcome, although I didn't do it for you.'
'I know. I'm just not sure for whom you did it. Nikita or Alex?' Michael wondered out loud.
It was silent for a while. 'Both I guess.' Owen finally answered. 'The first time I met Nikita, she tried to save me and Emily. I can never thank her for getting me out of the Division life. She forgave me even though I killed her fiancé. If I can do anything to pay that debt, I will. As for Alex, I don't know her that well. My first impression was an icy Russian princess. But we've talked a little bit and she seems like the person who deserves all the help she can get. She seems like a good person who just had a very rough time.'
'Yeah, she is. It's unbelievable how she has survived her past and came out as strong as she did. She's pretty amazing.' Michael mumbled.
Owen shot him a quick glance. 'You care about her, don't you?'
'Of course I do. I've been her mentor for some time and lately we have become good friends.'
'Is that all there is?' Owen asked softly.
Michael immediately turned to face the former cleaner. 'What's that supposed to mean?'
'Look, all I'm saying is that I've always been a little bit surprised by your relationship with Nikita. Don't get me wrong; you're both amazing people. It's just that the combination of the two of you is not that great.'
It took him some time to process what Owen had just said. 'So what has any of this to do with Alex?'
'I've seen the way you look at her, Michael. The way you talk about her. That's the kind of thing Alex deserves. If you ask me, you're the only one who can give it to her.'
'Give what?'
'Love.' Owen answered simply.
Michael looked at him with confusion written across his face. Slowly he turned back to look out of the window while thinking about what Owen had said. Owen didn't interrupt his thoughts but just drove the car to the airport. Was it true? Did he love Alex? He had enjoyed her company very much for the last couple of months and there had always been some kind of connection between the two of them. But was it love? He had felt something more when he had kissed her at the club but he had always told himself that it was normal to feel some kind of attraction to a beautiful woman like Alex. Besides, he loved Nikita. He always had. Thinking about anyone else in a romantic way had never crossed his mind. Until now.
He hadn't realized that they had arrived at the airport until Owen cleared his throat. Michael gave him a small smile, realizing he appreciated the guy a lot more after today. They both got out of the car.
'You need help with that?' Owen pointed to the sleeping women in the back of the car.
'No, I've got it. Perhaps you can check on Sean?'
Owen nodded and turned around to walk towards the plane that was waiting for them. Michael carefully opened the door of the car and took a moment to look at the girls in front of him. He couldn't help but think about what Owen had said to him earlier. Looking down he realized he was looking at the two most important people in his life. But that didn't mean Owen was right. He tried to shake the thought and gently grazed his fingertips over Alex' cheek. It didn't take long for her to open her eyes. When she saw him staring back at her she smiled softly.
'Hey.'
He returned the smile. 'Hey. We're about to get on board of the plane. You think you can walk yourself?'
She got herself in a sitting position and stretched like a cat, careful not to wake Nikita.
'I think so.'
He nodded and turned to Nikita, kissing her on the top of her head. 'Nikita. It's time to wake up.' She opened her eyes even sooner than Alex had and looked at her surroundings.
'We're ready to go?' She asked, with only the slightest hint of sleep in her voice. He nodded and offered his good hand to help her out of the car. When Alex had gotten out as well, he followed them into the plane. Once they were inside, he looked up to see Sean and Owen sitting at a table, obviously having a serious conversation. Nikita saw it as well and quickly joined them after giving Michael a quick smile. He sighed. It wasn't too hard to guess what the conversation would be about, but when he looked at Alex he saw she wasn't up for a long discussion yet. She had her arms wrapped around her and her eyes were heavy with sleep. He gently guided her towards a chair and sat next to her, after shrugging off his jacket. When he gave her the jacket, she quickly put it around herself like a blanket and curled into his chest. He was surprised but wrapped an arm around her anyway. Suddenly he remembered Amanda's last words.
'What did Amanda mean with the comment about not forgetting who you are?'
He felt Alex tense in his arms.
'I don't know.' She answered, but he knew it was a lie even without looking at her. He sighed and decided to let it go for tonight. Tomorrow would be soon enough to be asking questions. He felt Alex relax again as she snuggled even further into him. When he looked up, he could see Owen looking at him with a smile. He decided to ignore it for the moment and place a kiss on the top of Alex' head.
'Get some sleep, Alex.' He whispered and they dozed of together.
Please tell me what you think! I'd love to hear your suggestions!
