Hi guys, finally I'm back again. Sorry for the long wait! First of all I want to thank everyone for reading and following the story. Secondly, I want to thank Halle Alexis and ukie-girl for reviewing the story. It motivates me to keep writing! This chapter has some elements of the original episode in it, but I think you notice the changes I've made to let it fit in with this story. Please let me know what you think! Enjoy!

Michael entered the medical room where Ryan was still lying in a coma. He glanced at Nikita and immediately saw she hadn't moved since the last time he had been here. Her face bore tearstains and even though she was sleeping, the sadness was still visible. She had laid her head in her arms on the side of the bed. Michael sighed and walked over to the bed. 'Nikita.' He roused her gently. She woke up and looked at him tiredly.

'You should get some rest. Get something to eat and sleep in your own bed for one night.'

Nikita shook her head. 'What if he wakes up? I have to be there, Michael.'

He sat down next to her and grabbed her hand. 'I'll stay here. The moment something changes, I'll let you know.'

Nikita hesitated for a moment, but her own body was plotting against her by letting her stomach rumble. She sighed and stood up. 'Okay, but just for a few hours.'

Michael smiled and gave her a quick kiss before turning his attention to the unconscious man in front of him. He heard the door close behind Nikita, after which the sound of the heart monitor was the only thing to be heard. He folded his newfound hand under his chin. It was strange to have his hand back again and in any other circumstance he would have been filled with joy, but now he hardly paid any attention to it. Ryan was not a soldier like the rest of them, nor had he been with Division for a long time like Birkhoff. If anyone were to be shot, Michael would never have guessed it to be Ryan. The only thing he had ever wanted to do was to bring Division down peacefully. And this was what he had gotten in return. It wasn't fair.

A couple of hours later, the door opened and interrupted his thoughts. When he looked up he saw Alex walking in with a frown. 'Hey.' He greeted her. 'Something wrong?'

She took a seat next to him but did not meet his eyes. 'No, I just thought I would find Ryan alone, when I saw Nikita walking to Ops.'

Michael frowned. 'To Ops? Why would she go there? I thought she would get some sleep.'

Alex shrugged her shoulders. 'It was something with Owen. I don't know the details.'

Michael studied her for a moment. Something seemed off. She didn't look very worried about Ryan or very interested in Nikita. Her entire body radiated indifference.

'Alex, are you okay?' He asked with a frown.

'Yeah, why wouldn't I be?' She answered quickly. Too quickly. He kept looking at her, hoping for a different answer. Gradually her expression began to change from indifference to fear.

'Alex?' Michael pressed on, now worried about the young woman.

She looked around the room as to make sure they were alone before whispering to him. 'Maybe you should join Nikita. It would be safer.'

Michael never got the chance to ask her what she meant by that. Suddenly the door flew open and three Division agents entered, their guns in their hands and ready to shoot.

Michael quickly stood up and reached for his own gun, only vaguely registering that Alex had not moved from her chair and had hidden her head in her hands.

Even though he had his gun aimed at the men in front of him, he knew he would lose it if it would come to a shooting. It wouldn't be the first time he would take on three men at once, but this time he couldn't just take cover. He needed to protect Ryan and possibly Alex as well. He took a quick look at the men in front of him. He noticed that none of them had been his recruits, which meant that whoever was behind this had been careful.

He took a step back and positioned himself in front of Alex. 'Easy gentlemen.' He said slowly. 'You're making a mistake here.'

'It's not a mistake. We're just following orders.' One of the agents answered, Michael remembered his name was Rick.

'Orders? From whom?'

'You're not in charge anymore, Michael. We're done with you and Nikita and your little group of friends. It's time for a change, a real change this time.'

Michael couldn't believe his ears. He had known for some time that the agents were becoming restless, but he had not expected a mutiny. He shot a glance at Alex, but her face was still invisible. The realization came with a shock: Alex knew about this! That's why she had been acting so strange lately.

'Alex?' He choked out, still not completely believing what was happening.

At the sound of his voice, she looked up. 'I'm sorry.' She whispered, her voice thick with tears.

The agents with Rick as their leader immediately used this moment of distraction to their advantage. Within a few seconds they had him disarmed and they led him out of the room, leaving Alex behind.

They led him to one of the holding cells and left him without saying another word. Michael paced around for some time but soon enough realized he would need his strength later. He sat down and leaned his head against the glass. How could this have happened? He knew Alex; she would never go behind their backs like that. She might have been a mole more than once, but she could be trusted. Everyone knew that. That was when he remembered their conversation in the plane after they had rescued her from Amanda. He had asked her what Amanda meant with her strange warning, but Alex had evaded his questions. He wasn't sure yet what had happened, but Amanda must have been a part of it.

Michael looked up when the door opened. New agents were now leading Sean into the cell. They threw him on the floor and left as quickly as they came. Sean immediately stood up again and slammed the glass. 'You can't just leave us here!' He yelled.

Michael raised an eyebrow and looked at the SEAL. 'Calm down, screaming your lungs out won't help.' He said calmly.

Sean turned around. 'Alex is behind this.'

Michael sighed. 'I know.'

'Something is not right. She's not right, I'm telling you. I saw it! Amanda did something to her. Are you listening to me?' The SEAL had started to pace around the cell in the same manner Michael had done before.

'I know. She must have done something when she held Alex captive. Whatever it is, we can't change it from here.' He sighed and rubbed his forehead. 'At least Nikita is safe.' He mumbled.

Sean looked at him. 'How do you know that?'

'Alex said she had gone on a mission with Sam.'

Sean didn't respond but just kept looking at him until Michael understood: 'She lied to me.'

'I'm sorry man, she did to all of us. Amanda has Nikita.'

'What?' Michael stood up as fast as his legs allowed him to. 'And you're only telling me this now?'

'I'm sorry. I know you want to find your girl, but the only way you get to her is if I can get through to mine. We have to convince Alex to get us out of here.'

Michael nodded and slammed the glass. 'Derek!' He called out, having recognized the man who had brought in Sean.

The agent came in within a minute, looking at him questioningly.

'Call up to Ops.' Michael ordered. 'I've got something Alex is gonna want to hear.'

'You're gonna have to try harder than that.'

'Trust me, she'll listen.' Michael answered with more confidence than he actually felt.

Derek nodded and followed his orders. Apparently old habits did die hard.

When Alex finally came down to holding, Sean and Michael had figured out a plan. They would convince Alex to open the cell, they would overpower her and try to get to Birkhoff as well. If they were still alive by then, they would have to find a way out of Division.

'Alex, you need to listen to me.' Sean started, but Alex ignored him completely and went straight to Michael. 'Michael, please you have to help me! Everything is going wrong, they are after Birkhof and they took Sean away and nothing goes according to plan!'

Michael thought she looked like she was about to have a nervous breakdown. He got as close to the glass as possible and spoke in a calming voice. 'Hey, calm down Alex. Start from the beginning. Just take deep breaths, it's going to be fine.'

Alex nodded and took a deep breath before starting again. 'Everyone needs to get out of here. Division is wrong, we need to save everyone! And I thought I had everything figured out and then Ryan realized I was behind it so I had to shoot him. And then Birkhoff was carried away and Sean wasn't with me anymore. And now Birkhoff is on the run and they will kill him and Owen is here to find him but he's acting strange and I don't know what to do! We just need to get everyone out!'

Michael nodded and tried to remain calm even though inside he was furious because of what he had heard. Amanda had done something to Alex, which had led to her shooting one of her friends. That bitch had done it again. Even when she was not in Division, she still found her ways to control everything that happened inside.

'Listen to me, Alex. Together we can find a way out of this okay? But you have to let us out of here first.'

Unfortunately, Derek had overheard them and quickly walked over to Alex. 'Alex, you can't do that. On whose side are you really?'

Tears appeared in her eyes and she shook her head. 'I don't know.' She whispered helplessly. Suddenly the cell doors opened as if someone had given the command from outside Holding. Michael didn't think twice and immediately threw himself upon Derek to knock him out. Sean had taken the other guards and they found themselves alone with Alex within a minute. Michael was about to gently talk her out of her plan when Sean tried to get to her. Immediately, Alex' instincts took over and she kicked him in the stomach before trying to run past him and flee. Sean bent over from the impact but still tried to throw his arms around her body. Michael saw the panic in her eyes when she tried to get away from his hold.

'That's enough.' He said sternly. 'Sean, let her go.' He shut the door behind him and stood in front of it to make sure Alex couldn't get out.

Sean hesitated for a moment, but finally listened and loosened his grip on Alex. She immediately flew towards a corner and crouched down.

Michael gestured Sean to take over his place and slowly walked towards Alex. He knelt in front of her but kept enough distance between them so she wouldn't be able to attack him. 'Alex, calm down. I'm not going to hurt you. We are going to get out of here. We're going to get everyone out.' He repeated her words, hoping she would listen to that.

She nodded hesitantly but kept eyeing Sean warily. Michael noticed her doubt and turned around towards Sean. 'Go and check whether the hallway is clear. We need to find Birkhoff and sooner or later, they will figure out that we're out of Holding.'

Sean nodded and left the room. Immediately Alex threw herself into his arms. At first, Michael thought she was trying to attack him but quickly realized she was clinging on to him as if her life depended on it. He enveloped her in his arms and tried to soothe her. 'It's okay, Alex. I understand'

She kept shaking her head. 'I need to get out of here. I need to help them, I need to leave.'

'Okay, okay. We're leaving. You hear me, Alex? We're leaving.'

She nodded and when he took her hand she followed him willingly. They met with Sean on the end of the hallway and they had made it two floors up without anyone noticing them, when they came across Owen and Birkhoff. Michael immediately let go of Alex' hand to aim the gun he had stolen from Derek at Owen. He had figured out in Holding that Owen had to be working with Amanda and he wasn't about to take any chances. In the corner of his eye he saw Sean trying to talk sense into Alex. He knew that was a mistake, but he couldn't do anything about it with Owen in front of him. Before he could act, Owen shot the first bullet and immediately Michael and Sean responded and bullets were flying through the air. When they finally got the situation under control, Alex had disappeared. 'Damn it!' He cursed, knowing that they would not be able to get to her now.

Alex walked into Ops and immediately saw that the problems had only become worse. Her head was aching and she still wasn't sure why she had ran away from Michael and Sean but now she was here so she might as well take over again. When she heard Rachel talking about shooting Michael, Sean and Birkhoff she spoke up.

'No! If we start killing each other, we're lost!'

Her head started spinning and she had a hard time concentrating. Before she knew what was happening Rachel had pointed a gun at her.

'You can't save everyone Alex.'

The second Rachel turned the gun away, Alex let herself fall down on the ground. How did it come to this? All she had wanted to do was to save everyone, to get everyone out. Now Sean was in danger, Michael and Birkhoff were in danger! She had never wanted anything to happen to them. She buried her head in her hands and tried to control her breathing, but she knew it was useless.

She didn't know how many minutes had gone by when she saw Sean and Birkhoff enter the room.

'No, no. No please.' She mumbled and shook her head, trying to clear her mind. This couldn't happen. If they were here then that must mean that Michael was alone with Owen. Maybe he had even been killed. He had been the only one to understand. Without him, no one would be able to get out. Now Birkhoff and Sean would die as well and it was all her fault.

Suddenly Rachel aimed her gun at Birkhoff. Alex didn't hesitate and immediately threw herself upon Rachel. Her thoughts had finally become clear again. When Rachel took a machine gun, Alex hardly heard Sean's warning but shot the other woman right in the chest. As soon as Rachel fell to the floor, she dropped the gun to the floor.

When Michael returned to Division with Nikita by his side, the whole room was empty except for Sonya. When she heard the elevator she turned around and ran towards Nikita to hug her. 'I'm so glad you guys are back. We really need you here.'

Michael looked around the room and noticed all the body bags on the tables. 'Sonya.' He said sharply. 'Where's Alex?' Sonya pulled back from Nikita to look at him and shook her head. 'You need to get to Ops.'

He cursed under his breath and ran all the way to Ops with Nikita close behind. If anything had happened to Alex, he wouldn't forgive himself. The first thing he noticed was the damage that had been done to the place. Every screen was filled with bullet holes; the tables and chairs had been thrown on the ground. It was only after a few seconds that he saw Birkhoff kneeling on the floor, looking at something. For a moment he couldn't breath, afraid that the body in front of him would be Alex. 'Birkhoff?' He whispered, barely even recognizing his own voice. When the man stepped aside, Michael could see a body but it wasn't Alex. It was Sean.

Michael took a deep breath. It's okay, Alex is okay. He told himself. Then he spoke up.

'This was Rachel's doing?'

'Yeah, he bled on internally.'

Nikita kneeled down next to the dead SEAL and voiced his own thoughts. 'Where's Alex?'

Birkhoff sighed. 'She said she was gonna stay. She was waiting for you. When we found Sean here, she was gone. Kept saying she was going to save everyone. I guess in the end, she couldn't save him.'

'Not everyone can be saved.' Nikita whispered.

Michael sank down on the floor and closed his eyes, realizing that Alex might be lost to them forever.
