Yami's Pov
I watched as Yugi walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him
((Yugi where are you going?))
(For a walk, because if I stay in this building I will end up killing your brother) then the link shut off
"Are you an idiot? Why would you say something like that in front of Yugi? You know he has a hard time remembering his past life, and you just want us to forget about the tomb? It has his life story n those walls!"
"Oh dear Ra, what have I done?" Atem asked
"I don't know you tell me."
"Is the link open, can you get in touch with him?"
"The link is closed now, but he's going for a walk, because if he stays here he'll end up killing you."
"I need to speak with him."
"You'll just have to wait until he gets back wont you? But why would you say something like that?"
"I don't know, it was just a snap decision, I forgot Yugi was even here, but I am right in what I am saying, you need to move on."
"I have! I am actually with Yugi in this life time, but there is nothing wrong with looking into the past to help you learn from your mistakes, maybe you should try it sometime." Just then there was a knock at the door, I climbed off the bed and walked over to answer it, Seto was on the other side
"You're brother still in here?"
"Yup." I opened the door wider to let him in before closing the door again
"How couldn't you say something like that to Yugi?! You know how sensitive he is! Not to mention that tomb has his whole life story on its walls, it helps him remember his past by reading it! He doesn't remember very much at all, what right do you have to tell him to forget it?" Seto demanded
"That comment was directed at Yami, it wasn't intended for Yugi." Atem responded
"It's a part of Yami's past too you idiot! You forget that they were engaged to be married, but Yami didn't find out until after Yugi's death! You can't stop Yami or Yugi from seeing their past, just like we can't stop you or Heba for seeing yours! When Yugi comes back you had better apologise."
"You've seen him? Where is he?"
"On a walk, I met him outside the hotel, I told him not to go up to the pyramids tonight, or to stay out too late, you're lucky I'm not going to tell Heba about this, but I can't say the same for Yami or Yugi." Seto then left the room, and I felt the link open back up again
((Yugi?))
(Hello Yami, has Seto finished strangling Atem yet?) I chuckled, making Atem give me a strange look

(Meaning)
((Seto didn't physically touch him, just ranted and yelled at him))
(Ah, I didn't mean to walk out on you Yami, but I was so upset)
((I know Yugi, I don't blame you I would have been upset as well, but please come back soon, I want to hold you again))
(I'm stood right outside, I just don't have the courage to come inside yet) I sighed and opened the door again to reveal Yugi stood there with his arm raised to knock (Plus I forgot my key) I chuckled and pulled him into the room by his hand, before closing the door and turning back around to face the pair. Atem was looking pleadingly at Yugi, and Yugi was avoiding looking at him
"Yugi, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean what I said, I forgot that you were in the room, but that's no excuse I shouldn't have said it in the first place, I shouldn't stop you or Yami from looking into your past because it is both of your pasts, I am so sorry Yugi, can you forgive me?" Atem asked Yugi, making him sigh
"Alright, but why would you say something like that in the first place?" Yugi responded
"I just though Yami should be living in the present now, with the life he has with you now, I forgot that you couldn't remember some of your past, I am really sorry Yugi and I will make it up to you, I promise."
"You don't need to do that Atem."
"Yes I do Yugi, plus it will make me feel better knowing that I have done something to make up for my mistake, please let me." Yugi huffed
"Alright fine." Atem hugged him
"Thank you Yugi, I'll leave you both be now." He released Yugi from the hug before leaving the room. Yugi then turned to me
"Was it just me, or was he acting weird?" I laughed, and pulled him into a hug
"It was just you Yugi, he always acts like that when he has done something wrong." He sighed and wrapped his arms around my waist, and leant his head on my chest
"Yami, I remembered something while I was in the tomb." My arms tightened around him
"Show me Yugi, through the link." He nodded
~Flashback~ Yugi's Pov
I was walking through the halls of the palace leading towards the throne room, when my cape was grabbed and I was pulled into a nearby room and the door shut behind me. I looked over to the door to see Yami leant against it, panting heavily, I sighed
"What did you do to Atem this time?" he looked over at me, and smiled sheepishly
"How do you know it was me? As a matter of fact it was Bakura and Marik, they blamed it on me and Atem believed them, I've been studying most of the day, until I was forced to hide, I have a magic test tomorrow, why would mess with Atem's hair and screw up my test?" I giggled
"Alright I believe you, if I see Atem I'll cover for you, now move away from the door."
"Where are you going?" I started to fiddle with my fingers
"I've been called to the throne room, by your father, please move I don't want to be late." He sighed and pulled me into a hug
"Don't be nervous Yugi, nothing will happen, you won't be in trouble I promised father loves you, plus you're too good to ever be in trouble." I giggled and hugged him back
"Thanks Yami, but I better go." He nodded and let me go
"Please don't tell anyone where I am please, and could you bring my books from the library?" I giggled and nodded
"I promise and I will." I then left the room and walked over to the throne room doors, I knocked on the doors and heard a booming "Enter!" I pushed the doors open enough for me to step inside, I saw the pharaoh talking to a group of people which was the council, there was the king and princess from Rome and my brother and grandfather stood with Atem next to the pharaoh's throne
"Ah, Yugi come over here, I'm glad you came." The pharaoh called, I walked over to join my family and Atem
"You called for me my pharaoh, I will always answer your call." I bowed my head slightly to him, making him chuckle
"Don't ever change Yugi, I'd hate for that to happen." I frowned slightly at that
"I'll...try not to?" he laughed and reached over to pat my shoulder
"Right now down to business."
"Yes the arranged marriage between my daughter and your youngest prince, prince Yami, why is he not present?" the Roman Emperor asked
"Because there will be no arranged marriage between my son and Rome, because there is already one in place between my son and Japan." This made my head snap up slightly
"Yes for your eldest son, the crowned prince Atem, and the crowned prince of Japan, prince Heba."
"Yes that one is in place but there is another one, between prince Yami and prince Yugi." By head snapped up to look at the Pharaoh, who smiled down at me
"That pipsqueak?! You can't place Yami with a boy! He likes girls! He likes me!" Princess Anzu of Rome yelled, making me lower my head and for Atem to place a hand on my shoulder and pull me towards him
"You will address my son with the proper title, and the betrothal has been in place since they were both children it cannot be broken now unless one of them dies."
"This is ridiculous, you cannot place them together!" The Roman Emperor yelled
"It was mine and my wives choice as was it Prince Yugi's and Prince Heba's parents, you cannot change my choice, now leave my presence before I have you forcefully removed." I glanced up slightly to see the princess giving me a hateful glare before they left.
"Yugi." I looked up at the Pharaoh "You cannot tell Yami not until after his birthday in three days." I nodded "You many go now, thank you for come Yugi." I nodded and left the room only to be pulled into the room across from the throne room, by my cape, knowing it was Yami I hit him across the face without thinking
"Would you stop that?!" I the realised what I did "Oh Yami, I'm sorry." He chuckled
"Don't worry about it Yugi, I deserve it I shouldn't pull you by your cape." I saw a red mark on his pale skin and looked down
"I'm still sorry." He gently grabbed my chin and lifted my head to look at him
"Don't do that Yugi, you didn't mean it, I know you didn't, so stop worrying, now tell me what my father wanted you for." I pulled my head away from his hand and turned to face the door
"He just wanted to show me what one of his council meeting was like since I had asked him, nothing more."
"What was the topic the council was focused on?"
"I-I have to go, I'll get your books." I then ran from the room ignoring his calls for me. I ran all the way to the library and over to where Yami had been sat previously. I sat in the chair that was at the desk, folded my arms on the table, lowered my head onto them and started to cry, until I felt a hand placed on my shoulder
"Yugi." Atem said as he pulled me into a hug "Why do you cry so? I thought you wanted to be with Yami?"
"I-I do, but not this way, and I hate I had to find out first, I-I hate lying to him Atem, I can't do it."
"I know Yugi, and I hate to say this but you have to, you could try avoid him for a few days, until his birthday, it's only three days you can do that can't you? You and I both know you won't be able to keep this a secret from him, I know it will be hard Yugi, but you need to he isn't of age to know yet, he's only fifteen three days he will know alright?" I nodded into his shoulder before we pulled away from each other
"I'm suppose to take his books to him so he can continue to study."
"I'll take them I need to get him back for earlier."
"It wasn't him, it was Bakura and Marik, Yami has been studying he has a magic test tomorrow, you and I both know how important this test is to him, why would he prank you and throw the test?"
"Those sneaks, I forgot Yami had his test tomorrow, anyway I'll take the books, I won't hurt him I promise, but you need to tell me where he is."
"He's...he's in the room across from the throne room." He nodded stood up and grabbed the books and scrolls before leaving the room
~three days later~
Had avoided Yami for three days, I'd seen the hurt looks in his eyes, it tore my heart open, I sighed and picked up my present for him it was a simple present, it was a ring and arm band set, the ring had a red jewel in it and the arm band hand a same red jewel in it and a design spiralling from it, I hoped he like it. I wrapped it up and set it on my bed as I heard a knock on my door the same knock I had been hearing for three days
"Yugi? Please come out I really need you with me today, I can't go through this without you, please, please come out Yugi." Yami said from the other side of the door, I sighed and took a deep breath and opened the door, only for him to fall into the room flat on his face, I giggled as he groaned "I wasn't expecting the door to open." I grabbed his arm and helped him stand before he pulled me into a hug "I've missed you so much Yugi, did I do something to upset you Yugi? If I did I'm sorry, you just suddenly started avoiding me it hurt so much Yugi."
"I'm sorry Yami, but I had to otherwise I would have told you something I wasn't suppose to tell you."
"Can you tell me now?" I shook my head
"I'll let your father do that, alright?" he nodded "Anyway I have a present for you." I pulled out of the hug and walked over to my bed and picked up the wrapped present before walking back over and handing him it. "Happy birthday Yami." He smiled at me
"Thank you Yugi, I should get this to the table where the rest of the presents will me." I nodded "Join me?" he held out his hand to me, I smiled and grabbed it and we walked to the throne room chatting happily together
"I heard you passed your test, congratulations." He smiled at me
"Thank you Yugi...I thought you'd come to watch, but I never saw you when I looked, even when I finished you weren't there."
"I was there Yami, I just couldn't approach you, and I hid when you looked, I did come when you finished I left otherwise I would have told when wasn't mine to tell." He nodded and smiled
"I' m glad you were there Yugi, it's comforting now that I know." I smiled as we walked into the throne room, that was filled with people, I spotted Atem who was stood with Heba, when he saw me he nodded with a smile, but then I caught the gaze of the pharaoh who didn't look pleased, and I lowered my head to avoid his gaze "Yugi? What's wrong?"
"Ah, nothing Yami, why don't you go put the present on the table, I think the Pharaoh wants to see me." He glanced over at his father and frowned
"No, you're coming with me to the table and then we'll go over to my father together." I sighed
"But Yami.." he grabbed my face with both of his hands
"No Yugi, I know the look my father is giving you, and I know Atem knows why you avoided me, I'm not letting you go to him alone, he'll end up doing something that will hurt you and then he will regret Atem is already with him, I won't let you get hurt Yugi, care for you too much to let that happen." I sighed
"Alright Yami." I grabbed his hands and pulled them away from my face, then we walked over to the table that was piled with presents, I watched as Yami placed the present gently on the table before coming back over and grabbing my hand, before we walked over to the Pharaoh who was furiously talking with Atem quietly, but I only heard the last few sentences from Atem
"It was my idea father, I told him to do it he would have told otherwise and you wouldn't let Yami be told until his birthday, I was told when I was fifteen, it's a little unfair don't you think? Don't blame Yugi, you'll do something you regret later, I think it was unfair to Yami that he had to wait this long don't you?" Atem said
"Wait this long for what?" Yami asked, the Pharaoh sighed
"Yugi could you leave us please?" the Pharaoh asked
"No, Yugi stays, tell me what Yugi couldn't tell me, what did I have to wait this long for?"
"They are both apart of this father, you had Heba with me when you told us." Atem stated
"Wait, what are you talking about?" Yami asked, the Pharaoh didn't answer so Atem did
"Yami, you have been betrothed to Yugi since you were three and since Yugi was four, you two are betrothed to be married just like me and Heba." Atem explained
"Wait, you were told when you were fifteen, why did I have to wait?" Yami asked Atem
"I don't know Yami."
"Was this what you couldn't tell me Yugi?" Yami asked me, I nodded "Why wouldn't you allow him to tell me?!" Yami yelled at the Pharaoh, stopping everyone in the throne room, and making them look at them group "I had a right to know at the same age that Atem did! Why wouldn't you let Yugi tell me?!"
"Yami I wanted you to find love for Yugi on your own not from a betrothal, so you had a chance." The Pharaoh said
"What if I had found love with someone other than Yugi? You would have had still had to tell me and I would have broken not only my heart but of the one I had loved only to be placed in a loveless marriage! You're damn lucky it was Yugi I fell in love with." I gasped at the statement, only for Yami to look down at me in shock "Yugi I...Yugi, I do love you but I understand if you don't but we still have to marry, I will always love you." I sighed
"It's damn lucky fell in love with you as well isn't it?" he smiled and grasped my chin as he lent down and kissed me, my eyes widened slightly before closing and responding to the kissed, before we pulled apart for air, before everyone around us cheered I smiled as did Yami
"Come on Yugi, let's go get some air, you look a little flushed." I blushed and Yami took a hold of my hand with a chuckled and tugged me across the throne room over to the balcony. We walked outside over to the stone rail and looked out across the palace grounds and across the kingdom
"The view is so beautiful."
"Not as much as the view I'm looking at." I glanced over at Yami and saw he was looking at me, I blushed darkly making him chuckle "I'll go get you a drink, I'll be back in a minute." I nodded and he kissed my forehead before leaving the balcony
"You little pipsqueak! How dare you take Yami from me." I turned to look at the source of the voice and saw princess Anzu
"Princess, I didn't take him from you, he was never yours, this contract has been in place since Yami was three, I had no control over it."
"You could get out of it."
"There's no way to-" my eyes widened, before narrowing "No I won't kill myself."
"I'll do it for you." Her hands lit up with green light, magic and she aimed at where the balcony was connected to the palace before shooting and running back inside and closing the doors, I heard the stone crack and ran over to the doors to find the locked, I banged on the doors only for Yami, Atem. Heba, and the Pharaoh to appear, Yami looked scared as they tried to open the doors and I tried form the outside, but to no avail, the doors wouldn't budge, I looked Yami in the eyes and placed my hand on the glass, he copied placing his hand on the other side of mine and I saw tears in his eyes
"I love you." I saw him mouth the same thing back to me as the stone cracked and collapsed from underneath me, and I fell with it hitting my head on the way down, then everything went black
