A/N-I DO NOT OWN THE NAKED BROTHERS BAND!
Hey guys!
I've been on a bit of a writer's block for this story lately, so please excuse this chapter for it's possible shortness/kind of bad-ness.
Nat's POV
I walked home from Rosalina's house with only one thing on my mind. Should I or should I not call Dr. Brennan? I could call, like I said I would and just freak out over nothing. But I could not call and just lie my way around it. And that did seem like the easier way… No, you promised Rosalina. Maybe I could just call and hope he's not available. I only promised I'd call, not make an actual appointment. I decided that's what I'd do. Dr. Brennan is probably too busy anyway. If I call at just the right time, maybe I'll get lucky and he won't be able to talk so I won't make an appointment. If he answered, then I'll make an appointment. Otherwise, I won't. That way I won't be breaking my promise. I got back to the apartment and headed straight for the phone book. I slowly looked up the hospital's number, and dialed. Don't pick up, I prayed. Don't pick up, don't pick up, don't pick up…
"New York Community Hospital, how may I help you?"
I held back a groan. "Is Dr. Brennan available?"
"One moment please."
Say no, say no, say no…
"Yes, he is, let me connect you to him."
When the nurse put me on hold, I groaned. This is what I get for promising something to Rosalina. A few minutes later I heard, "Dr. Brennan speaking, how may I help you?"
"Hi Dr. Brennan, it's me…Nat Wolff."
"Oh Nat, I was wondering when I would hear from you. How are you doing?"
"Um, pretty good I guess."
"Well you don't sound very sure."
"I am, trust me."
"Okay, well that's good. So what can I do for you?"
"Uh, I was wondering when you wanted me to come in for one of those check-ups."
"Ah yes, a check-up. I was under the impression that you would skip out on those."
I nervously scratched my neck, even though I knew no one could see it. "Yeah, well…"
"Well if you really want to come in, I'm free tomorrow morning at ten-thirty."
"Okay. Thanks Dr. Brennan."
"So is everything going okay at home, Nat?"
"Oh, uh sorry Dr. Brennan I have to go. Alex needs me. I'll see you tomorrow." I quickly hung up the phone before he could get in another word. It's none of his business how things are going at home. It's bad enough that he has his nose in my business already. And either way, I did what I promised Rosalina I would, and that's all I would do.
"Hey Nat?" Alex asked as he walked into the living room.
"What's up, Alex?"
"Cooper called while you were gone. I think you should call him back."
"Okay, thanks," I said, sitting down on the couch.
"Is something wrong, bro?" He asked, walking over to me.
"I'm just a little nervous about my appointment with Dr. Brennan tomorrow."
"You have an appointment with Dr. Brennan tomorrow?"
"Yeah…Rosalina made me promise I would call him."
Alex grinned. "I knew she must've had something to do with it."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, looking at him.
"I mean you would rather have Dad still here than go to the doctor's…or at least that's how you act. She's good for you, bro."
"Yeah, I know…" I mumbled. "But hey, we need to talk."
"About what?" Alex asked, sitting next to me on the couch.
"How do you feel about Dad being gone?"
Alex shrugged. "I don't know…it's a good thing I guess."
"How would feel if he ever came back?"
"What are you talking about? He's not coming back is he?"
"No, no, but I mean if he…if he got sober. Would you want him back here?"
"I…I don't know. All I know about is that he's mean, and he's drunk… a lot."
I sighed. "I was afraid of that."
"What do you mean?"
I stayed quiet for a few minutes and then decided not to keep going. "Nothing," I said shaking my head. "I'm gonna call Cooper back, and maybe he and the guys will come over."
"Really? The guys are coming over?" He asked excitedly, getting up from the couch.
"I said maybe," I laughed.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Alex said, waving me off. "Here," He picked up the phone and tossed it at me. "Call them, call them now!"
"Okay, okay, calm down." I took the phone and dialed Cooper's number.
"Hey Nat."
"Hey Coop, what's up?"
"Uh, I was just wondering how you're doing since this fight."
At first I didn't know what Cooper was talking about but then I remembered that he and the guys didn't know about my dad. "Oh, yeah I'm fine. I just figured there's no point in going back to school on a Friday."
"Ha, yeah. I would probably stay home too if I were you."
"So I was thinking maybe you guys could come over today."
"Really? I thought you didn't like people coming over…"
"I figure today we could use it."
"Uh, sure…I'll call the guys and we'll be over later."
"Okay Coop, thanks."
A/N-I'm so sorry it's so short. I promise the next chapter will be much better!
Review and make my day better please?
