"Damon?" I asked, dropping the keys in the table on the foyer.
"In here!"
I walked into our bedroom and found him, laying on his stomach, head buried on the pillow, sheets wrapped around his naked body.
"You haven't moved at all since I left?" I asked dropping the bags by the doors of the walk-in-closet and walked to the bed.
"Nah. I woke up a little while ago, and I knew you would be back soon and would come straight back to bed, because you were going to be desperate for me again"
I scoffed, rolling my eyes and lied on my side of the bed, facing him, and propping my head up. He took a deep breath and reached for me.
"You smell very, very nice" he said as we entwined our fingers.
"I had a Bella-day. Shopping, hair cut, manicure, facial…"
"Hair?" he said finally pulling his face off the pillow and turned to me with a frown. "Again?"
"Well, I'm gonna live forever. I might as well test what kind of hairstyles work for me" I said smiling. "Do you like it?"
"It's blond again"
"Yes"
"And it's short" he deadpanned, staring at me.
"Yes" I said exasperated. "Do you like it or not?"
"Hm… I really liked your hair long… But I guess this cut has enough for me to pull on"
"You don't get to pull my hair, only I get to pull yours" I said smirking and leaned in for a kiss.
He pulled me on top of him, our legs tangling as one of his slipped between mine, and slipped his fingers into my hair. He pulled back for a moment and smirked.
"It works" he said, tugging gently on my hair.
I kissed him, my hands splayed across his naked chest before sliding one up, to his neck and hair, and the other going down. He groaned, letting go of my hair to pull on my dress. I pulled back.
"Oh, no. I got all prettied up and ready to go out with you" I said moving off him. "Let's not start something we won't finish"
"You started and you aren't finishing it" he pouted at me.
"We haven't got out of the house in four days, Damon" I chuckled nudging him. "We haven't got out of the bedroom in two. We need to go out. Now, go get ready"
"We aren't married yet, you aren't my boss" he grumbled.
"Well, if you get ready and we go out… We can get a nice dinner, maybe a movie, and go dancing, and even hunt a snack… Before coming back for more fun" I said running a finger down his chest and stomach, following the happy trail.
"We have food in the kitchen, movies on the TV, music on the iPod deck… if you want, we can snack the neighbor. We can start having fun now" he said grinning, rolling over and getting on top of me.
"Please, Damon" I pouted.
"Damn it" he grumbled rolling off me.
I smirked as he got out of bed, and watched as he walked to the bedroom, staring at the delicious naked ass. I got up myself, and organized the apartment while waiting for him. I was listening in to the voicemail while sipping a blood bag when Damon walked out of the room in fit dark wash jeans and a dark blue shirt. I smiled at him and offered him my blood bag.
"I still would prefer to stay in bed" he grumbled and took a sip.
"Don't you want some warm, fresh blood?" I asked.
"No" he said giving me the bag back. "But you need it"
"Yeah" I muttered.
"You look cute"
I looked up at him with a cocked eyebrow. He grinned, eyeing my light blue, bow-back A-line dress. He took my hand, pulling me forward and spun me, pulling me flush against him. His hand slipped between his chest and my back, slipping inside the dress through the open back, and I felt him trace my triskelion mark. I leaned my head back against his shoulder as he traced the protrusion that meant body, tracing the aligned protrusion of destruction. My human body had been destroyed, but I had gained a new one, a stronger, indestructible one.
"Acceptance of the past" he whispered, his finger making a wide circle on my back, tracing the other protrusions. "Living the present, and welcoming the future… Progress, right?"
"Yes" I smiled.
"Marriage" he chuckled.
He wrapped his arms around me, his hand encasing mine and playing with the engagement ring.
"Mrs. Salvatore" I said and chuckled. "Sounds strange"
"See? You clearly drove me mad… I asked you to marry me!"
"Well, that's very flattering, Damon" I laughed rolling my eyes.
"You changed me so much… I never thought…"
I turned around, wrapping my arms around his neck and smiled.
"You've changed me too… Because I love you"
He kissed me softly, his hands coming up to cup my face gently, and he rested his forehead against mine.
"I love you too" I grinned at his words. "So… can we stay?"
I rolled my eyes and stepped back.
"No, Damon, we cannot stay" I said amusedly and grabbed my bag. "Come on, it will be fun"
"I doubt it will be as fun as staying in the room"
"Alice called to say she has scheduled the Bachelor and Bachelorette nights… Well, it's going to be a whole weekend"
"I'll have to spend a whole weekend with Cullen?" he scowled.
"Be nice" I warned.
"Look, when I said I missed having time away from babies, to drink and enjoy, I didn't consider the company… So… I think I'll stay"
"Do as you wish. I'll be out in New York, having fun like a Bachelorette has right to, and you'll be here, across the ocean" I shrugged.
"You're not the Bachelorette" he rolled his eyes at me.
"No, but the male strippers Alice got don't know that" I grinned.
I squeaked as he threw me over his shoulder like a caveman, carrying me out of the apartment and swatting my ass as I wiggled, scolding me for even thinking of seeing other men naked.
The woman's body fell to the ground and I smirked at Damon, the high of drinking fresh, warm blood still running through me. I leaned in and licked the drop of blood trailing down Damon's chin. He groaned, stepping over the body and pushed me against the alley's wall, our bodies pressed together, fitting perfectly like pieces of a puzzle. I wrapped my legs around his hips, my heels digging into the back of his thighs as he slowly pushed the dress up.
"Tsc, tsc, tsc" a voice said. "How careless"
I pushed Damon away when my mind recognized the voice and stood in front of him, ignoring his scowl. I stared at the tall figure, leaning against the wall at the entrance of the alley. Even in the darkness, his eyes shone bright red and his teeth glinted as he grinned.
"Felix" I deadpanned.
"Isabella… So… Nice to see you again" he said.
I tugged at the hem of my dress, and clenched my fist.
"I would have said the same if you hadn't interrupted" I said with a forced smirk.
"Forgive me… The scent of blood called my attention and you know how excited I get to meet friends"
Damon stepped forward, standing beside me and pulled my fisted hand to his, his fingers forcing mine to relax before he entwined them together.
"What brings you to Paris?" Damon asked.
"Just tagging along with Jane and Alec, she wanted to buy some clothes or shoes… I didn't pay much attention" Felix said grinning.
I tensed.
"Jane came to Paris for shoes?" I asked seeing right through it.
"Well, she did stop for shopping… after we got rid of a problem" Felix shrugged and glanced at the body. "Hm… You should be careful with that"
"Yes, and Aro should be careful with sending people to check on me" I hissed.
"Why so much hostility, Bella?" he laughed.
"You should leave" Damon said, his face changing.
"Alright… Damon is it? Nice choice of ring" Felix grinned and turned around to leave. "We shall be expecting an invitation, Bella… Even though everyone will be surprised at the absence of Elijah's name on it"
I quickly turned around, and pulling Damon along, grabbed my bag and told him to grab the body.
"Bella…"
"Not here" I whispered looking around and up to the roof. "When we are sure we're alone, alright?"
He clenched his jaw, and nodded. He followed me up the rooftop and we quickly got out of the town. When we reached one of the quietest areas, we buried the body and I leaned against a tree, trying to calm down but keeping my senses aware of our surroundings.
"Dammit, we have to leave" I said. "Back to America, Europe won't ever be safe, not while Aro is still seeking revenge"
"You think there are more than three in town?" he asked.
"No… It wouldn't be discreet for traveling… But Jane and Alec, they have powers. I'm immune to them, but you aren't and I don't want you in the same country as her"
"I think I can handle…"
"You don't know her, Damon" I said shaking my head to clear the memories of tortured vampires I had seen. "You would be thankful for Bonnie's aneurisms if you met Jane"
"Do you need any help?" Alice asked.
"No, we're fine. I just… freaked a bit when I saw Felix" I muttered.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see it in time"
"It's alright, Alice"
"Here, Carlisle wants to speak to you"
As I talked to Carlisle, I watched Damon unpack. After discussing our necessary move, and at his suggestion, we decided to stay in Australia. It was far away from the Volturi, enough for it to be a problem for them, and we would surely be happy there. I talked to Carlisle a few more minutes and sat in one of the lounge chairs in the balcony of our room. I watched the sun set above the water of Tennyson Point, and as the houses lit up the water glowed with the reflection.
"I don't know why we need so many pictures" Damon grumbled.
I turned and saw him throwing aside the last box, and all the picture frames in the shelf above the TV. He walked to me and I shifted so he could sit with me. After settling in, he pulled me to him, and I rested my head on his shoulder wrapping my arms around him.
"First engagement, now a nice little house in a cute place" he chuckled quietly.
"Alice stole the phone from Carlisle before the end of the conversation to tell me she expected us to have an engagement party before Edward's wedding, so we can celebrate without stealing the anyone's spotlight" I chuckled. "Which means, she probably has the date of it and the party is halfway planned"
"Damn excited pixie"
"Be grateful Edward and Bonnie's wedding is on the way, or Alice would have the party next weekend"
"Why do we need a party? Everyone we would want to know were there for the proposal already"
"Because Alice never misses an opportunity to throw a party" I smiled. "Did you call Stefan?"
"No, should I?"
"Yes, Damon. We moved across the world, you need to tell him"
"I'll send him an email later" he said running his hand up my thigh.
"Just call him"
"Later" he murmured, kissing my shoulder as his hand slipped beneath my skirt.
"Damon…"
"We have to christen this house… now"
"Hm… Enjoy now… I was thinking we should slow down before the wedding and honeymoon"
"What?" he snapped pulling his head back and frowned down at me. "Why?!"
"To enjoy it better" I smirked.
"When the honeymoon comes, I'll make sure you enjoy it thoroughly, no need to slow down anything"
"I don't know, Damon, it seems like a good idea…"
"You're just looking for ways to torture me" he said.
I smirked.
"Maybe"
He kissed me, rolling over and I squeaked as we fell off the chair, but Damon's wandering hands distracted me soon enough.
I dropped my bag as if it wasn't expensive, and took the baby from Caroline's arms, covering his face with kisses as he giggled that cute little baby sound.
"Hello to you too" I heard Bonnie say amusedly.
"Sorry" I said, shifting Lucas on my arms so I could greet the rest of the group.
"Give me" Damon said, reaching for him and took the baby, giving him a very serious look. "I'll teach you all about getting this attention from women, but not my Bella"
I rolled my eyes and continued to greet the rest of the Cullen clan. Esme asked me how we were settling in Australia, and Caroline joked I should have moved closer so she could have free nanny.
"You all will have time to fuss over the baby and to catch up tomorrow!" Alice said grabbing my arm. "We have to get ready!"
"Have it crossed your mind that I just arrived from a long flight?" I asked amusedly, but let her drag me to the elevators of the five-star hotel.
"You don't need to sleep" she grinned, satisfied that the rest of the girls had followed us. "Besides, we have to talk about your engagement party"
"Damon doesn't want it"
"And who says the groom has any rights over this?" Caroline asked frowning. "This is your time. He had his fun proposing…"
"… stealing my thunder…" Bonnie added good-naturedly.
"… from now on, this is about you" Caroline said.
"Stefan says Damon will pay for all wrong he's done with Alice planning" Elena laughed.
"Well, but when Stefan proposes, he's the victim" I shrugged smiling.
"Anyway" Rose said rolling her eyes. "The car will be here in less than an hour and we have reservations for dinner… Then the real fun will start" she smirked.
"To the future Mrs. Cullen" I said smiling.
"No, no" Bonnie shook her head and grinned. "This is my bachelorette night… This night is for me, Bonnie Bennett"
"Elena! Caroline!" I said, tugging on their arms. "Come on, Bonnie is needs you"
They frowned, putting their drinks down and followed me back to the ladies bathroom of the bar. Rose was at the door, casually leaning against the wall, but keeping watch. I pushed the door open and the girls followed me in. Alice poked her head out of one of the stalls, and her alarmed eyes finally set the girls on the right amount of panic. They rushed to the stall and I followed slowly, already familiar with the sight. Alice was still holding Bonnie's hair back, but Bonnie was practically passed out.
"She only had one drink" I said. "We called Carlisle…"
"But her future is too blurry" Alice said fearfully.
"Bon?" Elena asked fearfully, crouching next to the sick girl. "God, what happened?!"
"Elena" Caroline mumbled in shock.
Elena bit into her wrist, her face changing only momentarily and with Alice's help she made Bonnie swallow her blood. Bonnie moaned, her head seemed heavy, but at least she wasn't so pale, and her heart rate picked up.
"Bonnie?" Caroline asked softly.
"I don't feel so good" she mumbled in response.
"Come on, let's get you back to the hotel" Elena said.
"We have to wait for Carlisle… Too many witness, he will carry her" I said.
"What happened?" Caroline asked. "Maybe someone messed up with her drink?"
"We would be able to smell in the drink and her blood" Alice said confusedly. "Her future's still blurry… too blurry for my taste"
"Edward" Bonnie mumbled. "Don't tell…"
I exchanged a look with Alice. If Bonnie's future was blurry, or it vanished, Edward would freak out and put her on security lockdown. Carlisle hadn't been with Edward when we called, since he had stayed with Esme and Lucas at the hotel, but we hadn't asked him not to call Edward. We could only hope he would know better than to alarm Edward without knowing what was going on. Alice sighed, and nodded to Elena, shifting Bonnie, so she could wrap an arm around her.
"Come on, let's get you up from this floor" Alice whispered.
Elena tried to help, but Alice had already stood up with Bonnie. She took her to the sink where Elena helped clean Bonnie up a bit. As Caroline and I watched Elena dry Bonnie's face with paper towels, Carlisle entered, almost hesitantly. But seeing us alone, and Bonnie's state, he rushed to her. He checked her for almost five minutes and then sighed, reaching down to wrap his arm around her legs so he could pick her up.
"I'll take her to the hospital for exams" he said.
Rose held the door open and after Elena and Caroline had followed Carlisle out, she closed it.
"What are we going to do?" Rose asked.
"Edward?" I asked.
"If something happens…" she started.
"Nothing will happen, Rose" I snapped. "Carlisle will treat her and she'll be fine"
"But what if he can't treat her?"
"She'll be fine"
"Her future has vanished" Alice said quietly and I stared at her. "I didn't want to say anything, especially in front of Elena and Caroline but… It's blank"
"Hey, kitten"
"How much did you drink already?" I asked amusedly.
"Not much… So, what's up? Bored without me already?" Damon asked and I heard laughter in the background.
"Can you get somewhere private?"
He didn't say anything, but the background noise got quieter and quieter until there was only silence.
"No one will listen" he said, "What is it?"
"I need you to tell Stefan and Jasper…" I swallowed hard. "I'm at the hospital. Bonnie is sick, and Carlisle is running some tests but, we can't let Edward know. Not until we have something to tell him. Otherwise he'll freak out, you know how he is"
"She's sick?" he asked confusedly.
"She got sick, and we called Carlisle, but he couldn't tell what was wrong with her"
"Bella… what is it?" he asked softly.
I knew he would hear it in my voice. I swallowed hard and glanced at the girls in the waiting room, Alice was talking to them, distracting Elena who was the most upset.
"Alice says her future vanished" I whispered.
"Shit"
"Yeah" I chuckled humorlessly.
"I'll try to tell Stefan and Jasper… Do you think it's a good idea to tell Stefan? Knowing him he'll want to go there"
"Maybe you're right… I don't know" I sighed. "Elena is distraught, but you're right, if he leaves, Edward will know… Jasper is used to blocking his thoughts"
"Alright…" he paused. "Anything call me, please"
"I will"
"I hope she gets better, Bella, I really do"
"I know" I mumbled, pressing my forehead against the wall. "I thought everything would be fine, if something happens…"
"It will be fine" he said softly.
I nodded and sighed.
"Okay. I'll call you" I said.
"I love you"
"I love you too"
I hung up and put the phone in my bag before walking back to the waiting room. I sat beside Caroline and gave Alice a discreet nod.
"So" Caroline started and smiled at me. "How in the world did you survive Forks? I was bored out of my mind and we were there only for three days to visit Rebekah!"
I chuckled and told them about all the excitement Cullens could offer to Forks. I was able to distract them from the current situation, but just for a little bit.
"What the hell is going on?" Damon asked, closing the door and frowning as he watched me blur around the room packing.
"We're leaving" I said, stuffing the dress I had left laying around into a bag.
"Where's Bonnie?" he asked.
"Damon, we need to leave. Now" I said urgently.
He grabbed me by the arms and held me.
"What's going on? What about Bonnie?" he asked.
I looked into his blue eyes, not really surprised to see worry in them. I sighed, and took his hands, before leaning into him until my forehead was against his sternum.
"She's pregnant, and still not alright" I said.
"She's… what?!"
I pulled back amused by his reaction and nodded.
"Is there anything sane and normal around here?" he asked frowning and shaking his head.
"Damon, we're vampires"
"That's my point!"
