Chapter 8: It's a date!
Hermione's POV:
We were back at my spot at the beach, I was nibbling on my bruschetta while Malfoy just stood there being awkward.
'Do you need anything else miss?" He asked ,trying to hide his irritation but obviously failing.
"No, thank you Malfoy. That will be all." I responded. He turned to leave when I called him back: "That didn't mean you could go Malfoy!". "OK…What can I do for you?" He managed to get out.
"Well, come sit with me and tell me about your life since the war." I asked him. I was genuinely interested in him. That and the fact that he got smoking hot.
"Euhm, OK?" He sat down on the sunbed opposite to mine. It was 3 in the afternoon and it was growing really hot in the sun. Malfoys hair almost seemed white in the sunlight and it looked like he had a bright aura around his head. He looked like a very well-dressed angel actually. That was, until he took off his waitersjacket and was left in a white short sleeved shirt. Now he looked like a very shaggable angel.
"So, are you going to ask me questions or what?" He asked rather rude while I kept staring at him. Or more specifically, his torso.
I snapped out of my ridiculous thinking about Malfoy resembling an angel, it was Malfoy for Merlin's sake!
"Yeah, uhm, why don't we do 20 questions? Each. I don't want you to feel like you are interrogated…" I asked. Damn! I felt nervous! Keep your head cool, it's not like he's going to ask me awkward questions, he's still working so he'll think twice before asking awkward things.
"I never heard of that game..I bet it's a muggle thing?" He sneered.
"Yes, it is. And we are going to play it. So get your first question ready." I stated. "I'll start." I added matter-of-factly.
"My first question is: What's your favourite colour?"
"What the heck Granger! You want me to tell you how my life's been and now you ask me what my favourite colour is?!"
"Well yes Malfoy, I want to start easy. Just answer the damn question!"
"What if I don't want to?"
"Djeez Malfoy, it's just about a colour! It's not like it's red isn't it?"
Malfoy blushed a pale shade of pink. Malfoy actually blushed. So he does like red.
"It's red." He admits. "But not the bold Gryffindor-ish red. More like a burgundy kind of red." He hastily added.
"Okay.." I hear myself muble. "You can ask me a question now, Malfoy."
"Why do I have to keep serving you?" He asked bluntly. His grey eyes glittering with irritation.
" What?" I asked confused.
"You heard me Granger. I'm not the one for easy starts." He smirked his famous Malfoy smirk and added tauntingly: "Just answer the damn question, Granger."
I huff irritated. Fine! If he wanted to play it like this, I could too. "I first wanted to make you feel how it would be like to answer to every whim of a mudblood."
Malfoys eyes narrowed slightly. "But not anymore?" He asked coldly.
"No." I answered softly. I turned my head down so my hair fell over my face to hide my upcoming blush.
"Granger." Malfoys voice had a much softer undertone now. I peeked up and was immediately stunned by the beautiful grey swirls in his eyes. His face was much closer to mine now. I could smell his eau de cologne. It was musky and manly.
"Why do you still want me to serve you?" He asked again. He was almost friendly.
My lips parted and I felt how I might regret answering this question but I spoke nonetheless.
"I want to get to know you." I mumbled.
Malfoy's POV:
"I want to get to know you." Granger said while looking him straight in the eye.
Wait what?! Granger wants what? Since when does she cares about my whereabouts? I felt how my pupils dilated and my mouth opened in shock. I never would have imagined that she thought of me that way. But when I thought back to just a minute ago: she was totally checking me out… This might get interesting, I mused by myself. I mean; Merlin, Granger got HOT! And she's still the brightest witch of our age. AND she's THE Hermione Granger, war heroine, the only female to ever reject the famous Malfoy charm. Maybe I should ask her out..
" Why Granger, I always knew you had a thing for me." I quickly composed myself and winked at her.
To my great shock, her head went down again and I swear I saw her mouth twitching in a slight smile trough her waterfall of hair.
"Wait, you do?" I asked amazed.
"NO!." She flipped her head back up and tried to cover up her smile with a fierce expression.
I smirked. "Yes you do, Granger. I see it in your eyes."
"As I said: NO Malfoy. Don't flatter yourself." She said weakly as she avoided looking into my eyes.
"Surely you know about my reputation as Slytherin Sex God?" I teased as I wiggled my eyebrows at her.
"Well..YES." She scowled as I started to make my way back to the hotel with the empty bruschetta-plate.
"Perfect. So do you fancy going out on a date tonight ?" I heard myself yell over my shoulder.
"The main entrance, nine o'clock. Don't be late." I heard her answer behind me.
A small but genuine smile appeared on my face as I continued my way towards the hotel.
From behind a beach cabin, Blaise Zabini was chuckling to himself as he had accidently heard the whole conversation and saw the real smile on Draco Malfoys face. Maybe he could help Draco make this date extra special..
