A/N-I DO NOT OWN THE NAKED BROTHERS BAND!
Hey guys!
I hope you guys are enjoying the story! (:
Nat's POV
I knew Rosalina was right. I had to tell the guys. But how? "I want to, but I…can't."
"Why not? They're your friends aren't they?"
"Yeah, but I don't want them to feel sorry for me."
"They won't see you any differently than they do right now."
"How do you know?"
"They're your friends, Nat. They'll be there for you no matter what."
I looked away.
"Nat, look," She said, taking my hand. "Just tell them."
Instead of answering I asked, "Where's Alex and Jesse?"
"Jesse was going to talk to Dr. Brennan…"
My eyes widened.
"But Alex made her take him to get some food."
I sighed in relief. "Okay. That's good for now."
As if he were listening at the door, Dr. Brennan walked in just then. "Hey Nat, how are you feeling?"
"Better, I think. So what exactly is wrong with me?"
"Nothing's wrong with you. But you did have some head trauma."
"What does that mean?"
"You're going to have some headaches for a while. You'll also probably be sore for even longer."
"So when can I get out of here?"
"I want you to stay overnight to make sure you're okay, and we'll see how you feel tomorrow morning."
I sighed. "Okay. Thanks Dr. Brennan."
"And I'm afraid visiting hours are over, Rosalina," Dr. Brennan said, turning to Rosalina.
"Dr. Brennan, please. Can't Alex and Rosalina spend the night here? I promise I'll listen to you, and do everything you ask if they can. I'd just feel a lot better if they were here."
Dr. Brennan looked skeptical, but said, "Alright. But just Alex and Rosalina stay. And don't stay up too late."
"We won't. Thank you Dr. Brennan."
Dr. Brennan moved to walk away, but I stopped him again. "Oh and Dr. Brennan?"
"Yes, Nat?"
"Do you…do you really think I need to get a therapist?" I'd been wondering since I woke up here.
"Well, I did. But seeing how calm you are now, I think you've got everything under control."
"Thanks to Rosalina," I said. "If she and Alex hadn't come when they did, I probably wouldn't be as relaxed as I am."
"Then I would keep her around if I were you," He said. "And don't think that I think you need a therapist because I want to torture you. I said it because I just want you to feel better."
"I know that now."
"Good. Well I should probably let you rest. I'll see you tomorrow, Nat. You too Rosalina."
"Good night Dr. Brennan," Rosalina said as he walked out.
"So I'm stuck here," I sighed.
"For a little while, yeah," She said, sitting on the edge of the bed. "But who knows, maybe Dr. Brennan will let you go early."
I gave her look. "This is Dr. Brennan we're talking about. I'll be here for a while."
"Well Alex and I will be here for you."
"Thank you."
"We'll get through this. You'll get through it. It's just going to take some time."
"I know, but I just feel so stupid for falling for my dad's lie."
"You're not stupid. You just wanted to believe your dad was getting better."
"I guess you're right."
"Of course I'm right. Now get some sleep."
"What about Alex?"
"I'll take care of him. Don't worry about anything."
Just as she said this, the door opened and Alex and Jesse walked in. "Hey Nat," Jesse said. "How are you?"
"Fine."
Rosalina shot me a look, but I ignored it.
"Well I can take you guys home if you want," Jesse said.
"Actually we're staying here over night with Nat," Rosalina told her.
"Oh okay, well I'll see you guys tomorrow then." She looked at Rosalina, then at Alex. She glanced at me, but quickly turned and walked out of the room.
"Just because she tried to help you doesn't mean you have to be rude to her," Rosalina said, turning to look at me.
"I'm not being rude."
"You kind of came off that way, dude," Alex agreed.
"Wait a minute, you and I need to talk," I said, looking at my brother.
"About what?" He looked confused.
"Rosalina told me about what you said earlier today at the apartment after I left. Is that true? Are people teasing you because they heard things about me?"
Alex looked away. "Maybe…"
"Alex, tell me the truth."
"Yeah…"
"How long has it been going on?"
"Only a few days…"maybe a week..."
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"You were so freaked out about everything else, I didn't want to put anything else on you. Plus I was doing fine by myself."
"Alex, it's okay to tell someone. You have to speak up when you're teased by someone else. I want to know, Rosalina wants to know. We care about you. It doesn't matter what else is going on. You are what's most important," I told him.
"Really?"
"Of course," Rosalina spoke up. "Don't ever be afraid to tell either of us anything, okay Alex?"
He nodded.
"So you shouldn't let those kids bother you," I said.
"It just bothers me that they think they can talk about you. They don't understand at all," Alex said, looking away.
"You're right, they don't," Rosalina said. "So you shouldn't let them bother you. They're just looking for a reason to bug you, and if you don't let it bother you, they'll stop."
Alex looked hesitant. "Are you sure?"
"I think you should take Rosalina's advice on this one, bro," I spoke up.
"Okay...I'll try not to let them bother me."
"If this keeps happening, you tell me or Rosalina, okay?" I told him.
Alex nodded. "Okay. I will."
"Good. Now let's get some sleep," Rosalina said, turning off the lights.
Alex curled up in a chair he pulled up beside my bed and Rosalina did the same on the other side.
"Wait, Rosalina?"
She sat up and looked at me, and I could tell she looked worried even if we were in the dark.
"I know this isn't the best place to say this, but…I'm glad you…I'm glad you helped me at that party. Even if we hated each other, you still helped me. And if you hadn't helped me, then I would've never admitted my feelings to you. And if that never happened…I could've been…" I trailed off, knowing she'd get what I meant.
"Don't even say that," She told me. "You would've done something eventually."
"No, I wouldn't have." I shook my head. "I would've let him beat me to death if it meant protecting Alex."
Her eyes widened, so I quickly added, "But I won't, and I didn't. I know it was wrong. I should've done something about it a long time ago."
"At least you finally realize why I called the police."
"I do," I nodded. "So thank you. Again."
"You're welcome. But promise me one thing."
"What is it?"
Rosalina got up from the chair, onto the bed and leaned so close to me that we were practically touching. "If you ever, ever, do anything like this again, and you don't tell me where you're going, I will personally track you down and put you on a leash if I have to. Do you understand?"
I nodded because I know she's serious.
"Good." She leaned back. "You really scared me today Nat, and Alex too."
"I know and I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking."
"As long as you're okay and this never happens again, everything will be fine."
"It'll never happen again. I promise."
"Good." She moved to get off the bed, but I grabbed her arm.
"Could you lay up here with me, please?"
"Fine," She said, as I moved over to make some room for her.
She put her head on my chest and hugged me.
I winced, and apparently groaned because she pulled back immediately.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry."
"No, no, it's fine. I'm fine. I'm just sore."
"Nat, maybe I shouldn't–"
"Rosie, it's fine. I'm just a little sore. I'll be okay."
She settled back into her position and I put my arm around her. "You okay?" She asked hesitantly.
"I'm fine, Rosie. Better than ever."
