Exams are finally over and I present you with a brand new chapter. Thanks so much for the reviews, follows, and favs. This chapter has some really cute team bonding and some pretty big events in it. One of my favorite scenes in all of NCIS:LA is the basketball scene from Dragon and the Fairy, so I wrote something a little like it. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks to Bamie02 for her continued support. If you haven't read Smile Sunshine and the rest of her stories you should, they're amazing. :)

The team took the rest of the week to decompress from the dramatic events of that day. They all returned to work well rested and ready to move on from Jack's impromptu visit.

Kensi and Deeks strode into the bullpen to find Sam and Callen busy with paperwork. They thanked them for their help since they hadn't yet had the opportunity to do so.

After a few long hours of expense reports and case files, Sam and Callen let their competitive nature get the best of them and went to the gym to settle the "who's better at basketball" debate. Kensi and Deeks stayed at their desks and were getting ahead on paperwork for once. However, this sudden desire to be ahead left Kensi and she decided she would rather be playing basketball with her surrogate brothers.

"I'm bored. I'm going to go play with the guys. You coming?" Kensi asked.

"Yeah. Um. You go ahead, I'm right behind you." Deeks replied.

As soon as Kensi was out of sight he opened his bottom desk drawer and picked up the file that had been safely locked in there for over a year. He stared at it for a short moment before he threw the file open and signed on the dotted line.

He walked over to where his petite boss was yelling at someone over the phone. Deeks threw the file on her desk and she immediately stopped talking.

"I am going to have to call you back." She hung up the phone.

She stared at him, not sure what to do.

"Mr. Deeks. Is this what I think it is?"

He took a deep breath. "Yes it is."

She took the file and began sorting out the papers inside. "May I ask what has changed your mind about this?"

"I don't want to have to go into a deep cover with LAPD and leave Kensi. I can't do it anymore. She's everything to me, and I need to know that I will always be here for her, if I go anywhere my partner has to go with me. Where Kensi goes, I go. That's how we roll."

She only nodded with a small smile. "I will have these papers sent where they need to go and we should have this done very soon."

"Thank you, Hetty."

"Thank you, Agent Deeks."

Deeks walked into the gym to see that Callen and Kensi were double teaming Sam. Callen was trying to pass the ball to Kensi, but Sam had picked her up off of the ground and slung her over his shoulder. He managed to catch the ball and make the shot with one hand and Kensi kicking and screaming on his shoulder. They stopped after they heard Deeks come in.

"Here you go, Deeks." He passed Kensi off into Deeks' waiting arms.

"Hey, Princess." He said as he placed a kiss gently on her nose.

"Put me down, we've got some ass to kick." Deeks only rolled his eyes and placed her gently on the ground but not before kissing her.

"Ew. Gross. Are we playing or not?" Callen said, with a look of mock horror.

"You sir are jealous. You aren't in love like we are." Deeks said in a sappy voice.

Before Callen could retort, Nell and Eric barged into the room.

"What are you guys doing? As the leader of this team cannot allow Eric to play and risk breaking everything breakable in this room."

Eric shook his head as everyone else laughed at his expense.

"You need a referee." Eric said.

"And a commentator." Nell quipped.

Eric was about to signal the start of the game when Nell stopped him. "You guys need team names."

"Ooh. You should combine their names. Like couples do." Eric replied.

"Good idea, Eric. Ok. So Kensi and Deeks..."

"I got it. Densi." Eric said with a snap of his fingers.

"That's perfect. What about Sam and Callen?"

"I like Sallen." Deeks said.

"Really? Couples names? Is that really necessary?" Sam asked.

"Yes. Couples names. It's cute." Nell stated matter-of-factly and no one dared argue.

"Wait a minute, if we are Densi and Sallen what are you guys?" Kensi asked.

Nell and Eric looked at each other sort of nervously.

"I like Neric." Nell stated.

Eric grinned widely. "Ok. Densi, Sallen, and Neric."

"Now that we all have horrible couple names can we play please?" Callen asked impatiently.

So the game got started. Sam and Callen were taking on Kensi and Deeks with Eric as the referee and Nell as the commentator.

In the end, Team Densi was able to take Team Sallen down by only two points. Every point Kensi and Deeks scored was followed by either a "That's my girl!" or one of them smacking the other on the ass. The game was so close that Eric got a couple of death threats for close calls, most of which ended up in the favor of Sam and Callen who Eric was more afraid of.

The team walked back to their desks still arguing over who should have won the game. After Nell and Eric walked up the stairs to Ops arguing over whose couple name was cuter, they all got back to work. The next few hours weren't very productive, considering all they did was debate about their basketball skills and throw balls of wadded up paper into the trash cans. They were all about to go home when Hetty announced that she needed to speak to Deeks.

"What did you do this time?" Kensi mocked.

"I don't know." Deeks said, faking a terrified expression.

Kensi just smiled and kissed him on the cheek. She whispered a quick "good luck" and started to gather her things.

Deeks marched to the armory where Hetty was sitting at the table with her legs crossed, anxiously waiting for him. She got right to the point as soon as he entered the room.

"I've filed the appropriate paperwork, gotten approval from Assistant Director Granger, and sent your resignation to Lieutenant Bates. I just need your gun and badge."

Deeks handed them over as fast as he could. Hetty then handed him his new badge and ID and his NCIS issue Sig Sauer.

"Welcome aboard, Special Agent Deeks." She said with a smile.

"Thank you, Hetty. Can you do me a favor and not tell everyone about this, I want to tell Kensi first."

"Of course, Mr. Deeks."

Deeks headed back out to the bullpen to meet Kensi. She greeted him with a mischievous smile.

"What did you do?"

"I didn't do anything. Really. Hetty was just telling me that I am her favorite. She wanted to speak in private so she didn't hurt all of your feelings."

Kensi rolled her eyes. "Let's go home."

The drive back to their apartment was quiet. Kensi kept glancing over to the driver's side of her Cadillac and seeing Deeks grinning like an idiot.

"Why are you acting weird?" She asked, half expecting him to give her a smart ass answer.

"You know I love you right?" Was his out of the blue response.

"Of course I do, and I love you too, but where did that come from? You are being really weird today."

"No I'm not. That was a pretty good game today, huh?"

"Nice subject change. But yes it was. They still don't believe that we're the better basketball players."

"We totally are."

They pulled up to their apartment and went inside. Deeks collapsed on the couch and Kensi went to get them drinks. When she came back with two beers she settled into her spot right next to him and he pulled her closer.

"Hey Kens, will you do me a favor?"

"Sure, what?"

"Just close your eyes for a second."

"I'm not really sure I trust you enough."

"Oh please. You trust me with everything."

"True."

She closed her eyes and he took the beer out of her hands and replaced it with his new NCIS ID.

"Okay open your eyes."

She opened her eyes and for a second thought that it was her ID in her hands. She opened it, and saw that it wasn't her name and picture inside the leather case, but his.

She was too stunned to say anything, so he did.

"Hetty gave me an application to become an NCIS Agent over a year ago but I told her that I wasn't ready. Back then being a cop was the most important thing to me. I realized after Jack showed up that being a cop isn't the most important thing in my life anymore, you are. I never want to leave you, Kensi. So, me becoming an NCIS agent means that we will always be partners. No matter what."

She was still speechless, but she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Wow, if I had known you were going to do that I would have become an Agent a long time ago."

Kensi laughed and lightly punched his shoulder.

"I love you, Special Agent Marty Deeks."

"I love you too, Special Agent Kensi Blye."

"So Hetty had the whole application ready for you?"

He nodded. "All I had to do was sign it. I did it this morning after you left to shoot hoops with the guys."

"I'm surprised she got everything done so fast."

"Only Hetty, I signed the paper this morning and she had filed all the paperwork, turned my resignation in to Bates, and gotten my badge and gun by the time we left this afternoon."

"I can't believe you did this for me. Thank you Deeks."

"Anything for you, Kensalina."

"Ooh I almost forgot! I get to call you Probi now." Kensi said with girlish excitement in her voice.

"No way in hell are you calling me that."

"Watch me, Probi."

"I am starting to regret this."

"No you're not. Even if I don't call you that, Sam and Callen will. So be prepared."

"That's just great." He said, the sarcasm heavy in his tone.

"Don't worry. I'll protect you. No one insults my partner but me."

"I appreciate your overprotectiveness Kens."

She only laughed and kissed him again.

"Thank you Deeks. Really. It's nice to know that you're stuck with me."

"There's no one else I'd rather be stuck with."
