Next few chapters will be backstory chapters, and one of them will show an important event in this fic related to Gideon, Mabel and Dipper. I'm doing this because the next story chapter is quite long and, to be honest, I like to make these kind of chapters. This one takes place after Wendy and Stan's, the latter which I will upload when I get the chance.
Also, Wendy appears later in this chapter: she has already joined Stan by the time this fic takes place.
(Streets of Hidden Gravity)
Near the ruins of a house in the streets, a lonely, chubby teenager was standing nearby it as he was selling some of his sweet rolls...without much success. His clothing consisted of a simple white robe and sandals.
The teenager, named Soos, continued to try sell his candy to the quite worried people that passed by, giving up just as a team of ANBU. Inside the mentioned bed is a young girl, Pacifica Northwest, who has empty eyes and has blood splattered across her face and clothing.
The kid was then approached by a boy from the team heading back to Hidden Leaf: Kiba and his canine partner, Akamaru.
"I would like one." told Kiba to the chubby guy, who handed him a sweet roll and grabbed the yen Kiba gave him. "I was told this was a favorite of this poor girl my partners are carrying, one of the many victims of the latest cypher host attack. I'm pretty sure that this might help us a bit once we make some progress in rehabilitating her."
Kiba patted the teen's head before he walked back to the team, who continued to walk while Pacifica shivered and uttered "mama...papa..." in a weak, terrified tone. As Soos tried to enjoy that he had finally sold something, a shadowy figure from up a tall building looked at the boy from above, flashing a disturbing grin before he jumped from the roof.
The shadowy figure landed in front of Soos, the guy being startled in the process. The figure revealed himself to be Hidan not long after, worrying Soos even further.
"Well, look who we have here, another street urchin!" remarked Hidan with a malicious tone. "Granted, this one is more...rotund, than the other urchins I have met."
Soos took a deep breath as the man stood still while he gave him a malevolent gaze. Soos then remembered what he was selling, and he grabbed one of his sweet rolls and showed it to Hidan. "Umm, would you like some-"
Hidan slapped away the object before Soos finished. "I don't want to buy your crap." stated Hidan. He pointed his scythe at the younger Soos before he continued. "I want your blood."
"E-Excuse me, sir?" asked Soos as he took a few steps backwards.
"The god I worship, Jashin, is demanding death and destruction, and what better way to do them than with a bloodshed! A bloodshed so brutal and extreme that this pathetic streets gets splattered with blood and corpses!" Hiden laughed like a maniac as he raised his scythe, "And you shall be the start of it all!"
Soos swiftly dodged Hidan's scythe and fled from the scene, making sure none of his sweet rolls were lost in the way. Hidan took out his scythe from the ground before he eyed the teenager. "You may run, but all you're doing is make me more excited to kill you!" stated Hiden before he gave chase to the chubby kid.
(Middle of Hidden Gravity)
Soos continued to run for his dear life while Hidan went after him, laughing like mad all the while. He stopped to catch his breath, giving Hidan the perfect opportunity to take him by surprise.
Just as the psychopath raised his scythe and got ready to kill Soos, he was punched by the bloody hand of a familiar old man: Stan, who was wearing an ANBU armor. Hidan crashed in a wall and he got off once he recovered from the strike while Stan landed near the teenager.
"Let's see if I can take a guess: near retirement, ANBU armor, bloodied hands and a frown that hides deep emotional damage..." Stan frowned in response to Hidan's description, though mostly because he used a mocking tone, "You were probably part of the Cypher Beast expedition, am I right? So much stuff happened over there that I don't quite remember the faces of the witnesses."
"Thanks to you and your acolytes, the love of my life is gone and the Cypher Beast has attacked my home yet again. You have done enough damage to this village, and I won't allow you to hurt the people living here, let alone a child," stated Stan with a stern tone.
"You have nothing to do with this, old man! Leave before I unleash Jashin's wrath upon you!"
"Look, I don't care if you're doing this as part of a ritual of your religion, you won't hurt this child as long as I'm here!" stated Stan as he cracked his knuckles.
"Then I'll just have to get rid of you!" replied Hidan with a sadistic smile.
Hidan gripped his scythe and run to the old man with a demented looks on his face...while Stan stood still, with his arms crossed and with a look of stoic anger. Hidan raised his scythe, swung it...and Stan grabbed it like it was nothing. Hidan barely managed to show his shock before Stan punched his stomach, which he followed with a kick to the same area and another punch, one directed to the face instead.
Stan threw Hidan and he managed to recover his balance in a moment, a moment which Stan used to indicate Soos to hide somewhere nearby. The teen obeyed and hid at an alley far away from the streets. From there, he saw Hidan glare at the old man with pure fury, right before he screamed bloody murder-but with less blood and more murder-and started to run to the man.
Once the two were close enough, Hidan swung his scythe multiple times in hopes of slicing Stan to bits, but he managed to dodge the man's attacks and, given the right opportunity, take out a weapon of his own: a long sword. Stan aimed his sword at Hidan, who was caught off guard and was nearly stabbed with it.
It didn't take long before their fight resumed, although the tables didn't change that much: Stan attack when there was a window of opportunity, while Hidan blindly attacked like mad. In one particular strike from his scythe, Hidan watched to his horror Stan swing his sword...and it sliced Hidan's scythe in two.
"WHAT IS THAT THING MADE OF!?" shouted Hidan.
"As if you cared," replied Stan with a glare.
Stan then punched Hidan in the face with enough strength to send him flying, and he raised his sword once Hidan was high enough. "Vaccum Sword!"
The old man swung his sword and a gust of wind is released, which is directed towards Hidan. He managed to dodge it, but his smug pride is soon changed with shock when he saw more gust of winds coming after him, all of which hit him immediately. While Hidan recovered from the strikes, Stan took the opportunity and put some shurikens and kunais on the ground
"Wind Style: Gale Palm."
Stan clapped his hands and the wind compressed and turned into a powerful gale. The kunai and shurikens nearby flew with the gale, the kunais all revealing an explosion tag once they got near Hidan. Before he could curse like a sailor, the kuanis exploded and the shurikens, now in flames, striked Hidan with accuracy while the smoke cloud from the explosion covered it up.
Hidan fell from the smoke cloud and hit the ground. Soos got out of his hiding, relaxed for a moment and looked at Stan with admiration as Hidan remained motionless for a moment. However, he soon got up and glared at the duo with a furious look. Soos shivered in terror as the man looked at the determined senior, who had no signs of being tired at all.
Hidan continued to breath as he soon realized he would lose the battle no matter what he did. The psycopath stopped breathing and he ooked at Stan with a look of mocking respect, which made Stan grab his sword tighter just in case of any attack.
"Jashin, I ask you to forgive me, for this time there will be no blood spilled." Hidan opened his eyes to show that they were completely light red, and he said his final words with a demonic voice. "Today."
Hidan left with nothing more to say, because he laughed like a maniac instead to give Soos one last scare. Stan then turned, walked to Soos and crouched down to see his eyes, which unnerved the teenager for a moment.
"Look kid, I know that you can learn how to defend yourself, what you need is a master who can teach you all you'll need to know." told Stan to Soos, putting his hand on his shoulder as he spoke.
Stan gave the chubby teen one last smile before he got up and walked away...before he came back shortly afterwards. "By the way, I would like seven of those sweet rolls you're selling." a young redheaded girl, Wendy, came out from behind a nearby alley and reunited with the old man as he took out his wallet. "One for me, the rest for the kid at my side. She really likes this candy."
Soos handed the sweet rolls to the man and grabbed the money he took out, forgetting to mention the price since he was slightly surprised. Once the girl grabbed a pair of sweet rolls, she looked at the him with a firm look.
"You look like a nice guy. I like you!" remarked Wendy before she ate her sweet rolls and gave Soos a tight hug. "You should pick Stan as your teacher, he knows a lot of stuff, and he's very kind as well!"
Stan and Wendy finished eating their sweet rolls and started to walk away, which alarmed and surprised Soos. He went to the man and stopped in front of him, surprising both the old man and the redhead. "Before you leave, I have to ask you something..." requested Soos in a nervous tone. "Could I...become your student?"
The man remained silent for a moment, slightly worrying the teenager in the process. "Before I answer your question, I need to ask: do you want to be a warrior...or a medic?" asked Stan. "I can teach you one of the two, but you must decide first."
"I want to be...a medical-nin, but one that can defend himself. So, a mixed version of both, maybe?" answered Soos.
Stan once again remained silent for a moment, but this one didn't last as long, as he smiled and then crouched down to see the boy face-to-face. "Welcome to the team, kiddo." replied Stan as he patted Soos's head. Soos became enthusiastic as the man spoke again. "Make sure you tell your parents about this."
Soos's enthusiasm changed to sadness once Stan mentioned Soos's parents, which made Soos frown and turn away. "I...no longer have parents...I don't even have a house anymore." informed Soos with a sad tone.
Shocked by the revelation, Stan looked at Soos with an expression of pity. Wendy then turned to Stan and grabbed his sleeve, pulling it to get his attention. Once she succeeded, she whispered something on Stan's ear, something that made the old man smile and nod in agreement before he turned to Soos.
"Hey, how about you move to my house?" suggested Stan, surprising Soos in the process. "I have two guest rooms and one of them is not reserved, I can buy you new clothes, I can even try to make your room the way you like it, you can feel like you have a home again. What do you say?"
Soos simply nodded in response with joy, which Stan approved. Soos grabbed the old man's hand before he got up and the trio walked back to Stan's house. "Follow me, we have a lot to do," instructed Stan to the kids, who responded with an enthusiastic "yes, sir!" without hesiation.
The End
