Chapter 30
Skeletons
0900 hours, 30 June 2001, DiNozzo Residence, Base Housing, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
"Talk about what?" Tony asked as he took a seat of the chair next to the couch.
"Everything" Bridget said ominously. Tony shifted in his seat, leaned back and took a deep breath.
"Dad, what is she talking about?" Three asked.
"I don't know" Tony said.
"Allow me to clarify. Earlier this month, I was doing the annual update of the Unit's classified Personnel files" Bridget began.
"An Annual update we haven't actually done in 4 years" Tony commented.
"Yes, anyway, as I'm sure you know, when we took Tali into the Unit, we created her a fake birth certificate, one that show's Colonel Colleton as being her father, and her mother having died during child birth. And I'm sure you also know that we did the same for Liat, creating her one that shows, the 2 of you as Liat's birth parents" she said to both Tony and Kate.
"Ok. So what's your point?" Kate asked.
"When Colonel Colleton had me create Tali's back birth certificate, we changed everything except her actual date of birth, 11 June 1979, so that her age could never be called in to question" she explained. "We also did the same thing for Tony, listing Sonny and Olivia Falconeri as his biological parents while keeping hid DoB the same" she added.
"When Liat's was created, we didn't have access to her real birth certificate. So I was forced to go to the next best source… Senior Sergeant Ben-Gidon. Malachi helped me created Liat's new identity, and after Malachi promised to add her real certificate to her file. Liat's new certificate listed her birth date as 16 March 1983." she said. "And that's when I came across this" she said as she produced a piece of paper. Tony reached over and picked it up.
"This looks like Liat's original certificate, but the names are blacked out" he said as he scanned it. Bridget noted to herself how Kate had subtly shifted in her seat.
"Look at the D.O.B" Bridget said as she stared at Kate. Tony read it aloud.
"26 May 1983" Tony read aloud slowly. "Three's birthday" he added.
"There's something else" Bridget said as she pulled out Three's birth certificate. "Look at the signatures" Bridget said.
"There the same" Tony said shocked.
"2 weeks ago I paid a visit to Huntington Hospital, There, I discovered that every record of Kate ever being there is missing. Every ultrasound, every examination by her OB/GYN, even Three's Birth certificate is missing" she said. "Now, Kate" she said turning to her. "It's well known by almost everyone in the Unit that for you and Tony were disowned by your respective biological parents" Bridget said, drawing looks from both Tony and Bridget. "So I went to the closet thing you have to family outside of this room" she said.
"Sonny" Tony confirmed.
"Sonny confessed" Bridget said. "18 years ago, Kate gave up her daughter for adoption. That daughter, Baby Girl DiNozzo, was Three's twin sister. Kate never said anything. And after that day, nothing more was said about it. Until 16 years later" Bridget said
"When Abba met me?" Liat asked.
"Exactly" Bridget said, speaking now to Liat. "After Tony told Kate that he was planning to adopt you, Kate made a beeline for Port Charles. There, she was able to convince her father-in-law to help her cover up what she had done. Sonny ordered his right hand man, Jason Morgan, to steal all of the records of Mrs. Caitlin DiNozzo from HH. After that, he had Malachi blackout the names of Liat's real certificate" Bridget told them all.
"So what are you saying?" a teary eyed Liat asked, already knowing the answer, just not wanting to believe it.
"Liat" she said as she placed the folder that Sonny had given her down on the coffee table. "You, are baby girl DiNozzo. You are the biological child of Anthony and Caitlin DiNozzo Jr. You are the fraternal twin of Anthony DiNozzo III. And more importantly, you are the child that Kate gave away for adoption 18 years ago" Bridget said. She watched as Three pulled his sister into a tight, loving and warming hug. Tony's jaw hung open, and Kate couldn't look anyone in the eye. "It's obvious y'all have a lot to take about" she said as she momentarily slipped into her native Texan accent. "I'll show myself out" she said as she slowly rose to her feet.
"No, wait" Tony said as he held up his hand. "Three, why don't you take your sister outside" Tony suggested.
"Good idea" Three said as he led his sister towards the backyard. Bridget sat back down in her seat.
"So" Tony began once Three and Liat were out of earshot. "Liat is my daughter" Tony said.
"Yes" Kate said as tears streamed down here face.
"How could you?" Tony asked in disbelief. He had never felt so betrayed before.
"I was scared" Kate said.
"So? You think I wasn't?" Tony shot out.
"I'm sorry" Kate said.
"You're sorry?" Tony yelled as he stood up. "Kate, you stole 16 of my daughter's life from me. And you're sorry?" he yelled.
"I was scared Tony. What do you want from me?" Kate yelled back as she stood up too. "Yes I gave up Liat for adoption. She was adopted by a Mariella Tuvia, an Israeli Women. When you told me you wanted to adopt a Liat Tuvia, I knew it was our daughter. Only you, Tony DiNozzo, The 'Movie Buff' could be the one, to find his own missing daughter" Kate said sharply.
"You are sick and twisted Caitlin. You gave away our daughter, our own flesh and blood" Tony yelled at her. "What kind of mother are you?"
"You talk to me about good parenting? For 16 Years I raised our son practically on my own. You were always off on some mission to save the world. Or how about all the drinking you did after Somalia and Haiti" Kate yelled.
"I'll be the 1st to admit I'm not the best father, and yes I missed a lot of birthdays and a few Christmases. But you are no mother. Did you know Liat was raped a year before I met her?" Tony asked. "She was raped because she was alone. And she was alone because of you!" Tony said as he pointed a finger in her face.
"Oh yeah?" Kate shot back. "What about our Son?" she yelled. "When everyone believed he was dead in Quebec a few months ago?" Kate said. "You know why he's in the Unit?" Kate asked rhetorically. "He's in it because of you. He wanted to be just like his father. Anything that happens to our son is because of you!" she jabbed. "Oh, and then of course there's the mob hits. Ya know, all the people you killed to protect Sonny's business?" she said. "You think I forgot? All the bodies you've buried in the backwoods of upstate New York, or all the bodies mysteriously found flouting in Lake Ontario or the East River? All because of you. For years you were Sonny's enforcer, before Jason took over" she spat. "And yet I said nothing" Kate said. "But I'm sure the cops would love to know" she said.
"Our son made his own choices, and as for what I did for Sonny" he paused. "He took us in when we had nowhere else to go, both of us" Tony told her. "Were you ever gonna tell me, about Liat?" he asked, changing the subject.
"No, I wasn't" she shot back.
"Kate. I don't know what happened. When we decided to take in Erica Jane last month I thought, after everything, my drinking, all the stuff with Sonny, we were finally on the same page. Even with you cheating on me" Tony said. Kate gave him a look of shock. "Oh you think I didn't know? That you were sleeping with Major Kerry?" Tony asked. Kate still gave him a shock. "Ya know, The Marine Major who's currently carrying the nuclear football?" Tony asked.
"How did you know?" Kate asked shocked.
"Who do you think handles the background checks for Yankee White?" Tony asked. "He couldn't stop bragging about 'Kate' his smoking hot Secret Service girlfriend" Tony told her. "After that, all I had to do was place a call into Hank Voight, the man who recruited me into the Unit. He's a SWAT Sergeant with Metro P.D now" Tony said. "Kerry's Porsche was seen outside your apartment quite frequently" Tony said.
"So? Can you blame me?" she asked. "He was here, you weren't" she said. Tony held up his hands and took a step back.
"Kate, I'm only gonna say this once, so allow me to be crystal clear" Tony began. "You gave away my daughter. You robbed Liat of her innocent and me of the 1st 16 years of her life. And yes, while I wasn't always the best husband, you were the one who spit on our marriage vows, not me" Tony said as he took a deep breath. "I'm filing for divorce" Tony said.
"You're what!" Kate yelled.
"It's over, we're through" Tony said as he stormed out the front door. Kate nearly burst into tears. Her marriage of nearly 19 years was over.
"You!" she said as she turned to Bridget. "This is your fault" she said as she forcefully jabbed her finger into Bridget's chest.
"Me? I'm not the one who had an affair or gave up an innocent child" Bridget snapped back.
"You've always had it out for me. I'll bet you're real happy. Just admit it, you've been waiting for me to be out of the way, just so you could take my place in my husband's bed" Kate accused her.
"Even if that's true, you wrecked our marriage, not me" Bridget confessed. Kate immediately lashed out, slashing Bridget across the face. Bridget quickly countered, delivering a right cross to Kate's jaw, knocking her a few steps back.
"You bitch" Kate yelled as she grabbed her P226 Sig Sauer off the coffee table and pointed it at Bridget. At the same time, Bridget quickly drew her 45 and drew a bead of Kate.
"Go ahead, try me" Bridget warned as she cocked the hammer on her 45.
"Get out of my house!" Kate yelled. With her 45 still drawn, Bridget slowly backed out the front door.
1100 hours, 30 June 2001, Tactical Operations Center, Unit Compound, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
"So, where do we begin?" Colonel Colleton asked as he leaned back in his chair.
"Well, Guard Dog was is back to full duty, and Howitzer will be released tomorrow" Tali said.
"Good" Tom said. "So, I guess it's up to you and Ironman here to bring me up to speed on the past 3 years" he said to both his daughter and Chester.
"You've missed a lot Colonel" Chester said.
"Start from the top Master Sergeant" Colleton instructed.
"Well, after you left, Tony was in charge for a few months. There wa much going on then, except for that hostage crisis at the Sudanese embassy.
"Lock and Load, prepare to breach" order DiNozzo. The 5 men quickly flicked the safeties off there M4 rifles. Cole quickly placed a breach charge on the door. "Phantom, Bandit, you're on the virus. Ironman and Blue Star, the hostages" instructed Tony. Tony let out a deep breath "Hitman, take the shot" ordered Tony. 3 seconds later, a shot rang out. "Breach, breach, breach" yelled Tony. Cole hit the detonator and the door exploded. The 5 men quickly rushed in. on a hunch that Moshak would have the virus with him, Jack and Cole quickly made there way up the stairs to the Ambassador's office. Chester and Malachi quickly went for the main dinning room, where they figured the hostages were being held. Gun shots rang out from both locations. Tony quickly began searching the other rooms. He was looking for one room in particular. He found the one he was looking for and kicked the door in. he opened fire on the 3 men standing inside. Then he turned to the wall of TV monitors. "No evidence" Tony mumbled as he shot up the TVs. He quickly walked over to the VCRs and ejected all the tapes that would have footage of his men. He took each tape individually and ripped out the film, before setting them all on fire. Then his radio cracked.
"This is Phantom, precious cargo is secure, repeat, package is secure" said Cole.
"Copy that Phantom, good work" replied Tony. More gunshots erupted from the hallway. Tony quickly inserted a new clip into his M4 and rushed out., he opened fire on 2 more men, both of them dressed in Sudanese Military uniforms, which meant that they were Embassy Guards. After a few more shots from down the hall, Tony's radio cracked again.
"This is Blue Star, hostages secure, repeat, hostages secure" said Malachi, proudly.
"Copy that Blue Star, any casualties, over?" asked Tony.
"Negative Movie Buff, only minor scrapes and bruises, over" replied Senior Sergeant Ben-Gidon. Tony looked up as FBI and Metro SWAT entered the building.
"The losers are here, lets go home boys" said Tony. As he listened to a chorus of "Copy that" he slung his M4 over his shoulder and started walking back towards the door. An FBI SWAT Officer raised his weapon and pointed it at Tony.
"Let me see your hands" the SWAT Officer ordered.
"Fuck off" said Tony as he shoved the SWAT Officer out of his way. He heard a laugh come from the door in front of him, as Clayton Webb walked through it.
"Always a pistol aren't ya Tony" said Webb.
"Fuck you too Webb" said Tony as he flipped him off.
"After that night, that's when Colonel Bell arrived" Chester said.
"Boy was that fun" Tali said sarcastically.
"Tony, coffee, milk, and the same for Malachi and Jack" she said handing them there coffees. "And Chester, one Irish Coffee" she said, sounding less than amused. Chester smiled as he took it from her and took a sip.
"Irish?" asked Malachi.
"It means it has alcohol in it" said Tony. Then he turned to Chester. "Really Ironman, Irish?" Tony asked.
"Well I wanted to make it Belgian, but the waffles wouldn't fit in the cup" said Chester, which caused everyone to laugh.
"Alright come on, lets get this done." Said Tony, who pulled a flash light from his pack. "Is that Colonel Bell's file?" Tony asked, pointing to the file folder Tali had brought.
"Yep" said Tali as she slid it over to him.
"He ever seen Combat?" asked Bauer.
"Dude, I don't think he's ever even heard shots fired in anger" said Tony, laughing.
"Really?" asked Jack.
"Here, see for ya self" said Tony as he passed the file over to him.
"Looks like he's been playing the political game his whole life, ever since he graduated form Oklahoma University in 1975" said Jack as he read the file. "Wow, look at these APFT scores" said Jack. "180, the bare minimum"
"You can get that low?" asked Tony.
"Not in The Unit you can't" said jack. In the Unit, you needed a score of at least 270 to be an operator. Tony, had maintained a perfect Score during his entire Military career, 300.
"So how much do we tell him?" asked Chester. Tony and Jack looked at each other and nodded.
"Nothing" they both replied at the same time. Tony checked his watch.
"Ok, its 0130, our wives are already gonna kill us, lets not make it worse" said Tony as he closed Bell's file.
"Tony and Bell couldn't stand each other" Tali said. "That's why Tony actually took a vacation to Italy" she added.
"Movie Buff actually took a vacation?" Tom asked, shocked.
"Not exactly" Tali started, as she explained how Tony had actually gotten involved in rescuing Admiral Chegwidden's daughter, and in the process killing the head of a powerful Mafia Family.
"What was the Mafia Guy's name?" Tom asked curiously.
"Vittorio Parretti" Tali said. "Why?" she asked.
"No reason" Tom replied.
"After that were the AQ terror attacks in Riyadh" Chester said.
"The one where the Consul General was killed?" Tom asked.
"Yep" Tali said. "It was Rivkin" she said bluntly. "Michael Rivkin was the sniper"
"I know" Tom replied. "I still have my sources"
"After that, Tony spent about a month in Israel" Chester said. "Where he met Liat" Chester said. "I was there with him when he killed Simon Ben-Lev. He sent me home after that. He was waiting for another opportunity to take a shot at Eli David. He never got the chance" Chester finished.
Meanwhile, Tali looked at the clock, and realized the time. "If you gentlemen will excuse me, I have a lunch date" Tali said as she quickly gathered her things and left.
1200 hours, 30 June 2001, Shooting Range, Unit Compound, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Three popped another clip into his 45 and continued to riddle the down range paper target with holes. After expending the 7-round clip, he ejected it, caught it in his hand and tossed angrily downrange. "Ahh!" he screamed in pure rage and frustration. He had never seen his sister so upset and distraught. He slammed the gun down on the counter in front of him. He stepped back and moved over to the wall, sliding down against it. He didn't know what to think anymore. He had just listened to his parents tear each other apart. He was so out of it, he didn't even notice that someone was standing in the doorway, leaning up against the frame, watching him.
"Long day?" she asked in her accented English. Three just shook his head and buried his head between his knees. She walked over and slid down against the wall next to him. She reached over and began to massage Three's shoulders. "Trois? Feel any better?" she asked in a calming voice.
Three released his head from between his knees and leaned back against the wall. "Three" he said. "My name is Three"
"I take it your father's talk with Captain Sullivan did not go well?" she asked.
"It was a screaming match" Three said. "They were tearing into each other" Karine reached over and pulled Three into a hug, pulling his head tight to her chest.
"I'm sure it will all be fine" she said warmly.
"No it won't" Three said as he broke loose and stood up. Karine stood up too and grabbed Three's hand.
"Come" she said as she tugged Three's arm. "You need to de-stress" she said.
1400 hours, 30 June 2001, Sergeant Karine DuBois' Apartment, Bachelor Non-Commissioned Officers Quarters, Base Housing, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
"Wow" Three said as he leaned back into his pillow, his bare body wrapped in the white linen sheets.
"Yes. Wow" Karine said as she curled her nude body into his side.
"I take it you've done this often?" Three said, glad he had had the forethought to use protection.
"Yes. And you?" she asked.
"Not quite as often" Three said. "But yes" he added. "This is wrong" he stated.
"Hmm?" she mumbled.
"We work together, we shouldn't be sleeping together" Three said.
"Oh?" she said as she lifted her head up off his chest.
"This can't happen again" he said as he threw back the sheets and stood up. Karine admired the view as he walked into the bathroom.
"And why not? Did you not like it?" she asked.
"It's unprofessional" Three said as he turned on the shower.
"And what part of you ever was professional?" she said in a raised voice. When she didn't get an answer she figured that Three was in the shower. She peeled over the sheets and quietly entered the bathroom, before joining her new lover in the shower.
1500 hours, 30 June 2001, Tactical Operations Center, Unit Compound, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Colonel Colleton was sitting at his desk, reading some files on Operations from the past 3 years, when Billy and Izzy walked into his office. "1st Lieutenant William G. Hazard and Staff Sergeant Izabella F. Gibbs reporting as ordered" Billy said as they came to attention.
"At ease" Colleton said as he collected the files and placed them in one of his desk draws.
"Lieutenant Hazard, how is your French?" Colleton asked Billy in his accented French.
"Fluent, with a Parisian accent" he replied.
"And you, Staff Sergeant Gibbs?" he asked Izzy.
"The same" she replied.
"Good, because I have a new assignment for the both of you" Colleton said. "As I'm sure you know, Lucien Galtier, The QNA Commander from Riviere-du-Loup, has been made a Brigadier General in the AROQ, Army of The Republic of Quebec" he said.
"Chris mentioned something like that a week or so ago" Billy said.
"Well, Brigadier Galtier has been placed in command of the AROQ Special Forces, and he needs people, good people, to train them. He wants you two" Colleton said. "Also you were recommended by Senator McCain, who if you don't know is the President pro-tempore of the Senate, and the chairman of the Senate joint Armed Services Committee. He's an old friend of myself and Colonel DiNozzo"
"Why us?" Izzy asked.
"He was impressed with your teamwork when you were in Quebec earlier this year" Tom said. "And besides, Tali tells me that the 2 of you are currently in a relationship" he said.
"That would be correct sir" Billy answered.
"Against regs" Colleton pointed out.
"Yes Sir" Billy replied, as he started to sweat.
"Ever heard the phrase 'out of sight, out of mind?" Colleton asked with a smile.
"Yes Sir" Billy answered, reciprocating The Colonel's smile.
"Good, then get packed, you leave tomorrow at 0900" Colleton informed them.
"Yes Sir!" they both said at the same time as they snapped to attention and saluted.
1800 hours, 30 June 2001, Crossroads Saloon, Rockingham, North Carolina.
Alone and bewildered, Staff Sergeant Liat DiNozzo sat alone in a corner booth. It had been about an hour's drive from the base, and she was nursing her 3 beer that she had bought with her fake id. She smiled and shook her head when a man sat down across the booth from her. "You ain't old enough to drink" he said as he took her beer.
"Sorry Abba" Liat said as he stared down at her.
"It's ok" Tony replied as he gave the beer back to her. "You ok?" he asked her.
"Look, that fact that I'm Three's twin and your biological daughter doesn't scare me" she said. "It's like I've known all along, and now, I find out its true" she said.
"Even before today, you were my daughter, in every sense of the word" he told her. "I love you, I always have and I always will" he assured her.
"Was it true?" she asked. "Is Imma having an affair?"
"Yes" Tony told her.
"And you never thought of getting back at her by having an affair of your own?" she asked.
"Unlike your mother, I take, or I guess I should say took, our marriage vows seriously" Tony told her. "I take it you and your brother were listening in?" Tony asked.
"Yes" she told him. "Did you mean it? Are you and Imma finished?" she asked.
"Yes" Tony told her. "What your mother did, cost me 16 years of your life. I never got to be there for your 1st word, or your 1st steps, for your 1st anything" he said.
"You'll still get the chance to walk me down the aisle at my wedding" she said with a smile.
"After I foot the bill" Tony smiled.
"Tradition is tradition" Liat smiled too.
"Come on, let's go home" Tony said as he stood up. He and Liat walked out into the parking lot.
"Just one more question" Liat said as they walked out the door. "Was what Imma said true? About Grandpa Sonny?" Liat asked. "The Mob Hits?" she said.
"Yeah, I'd like to know that too" said a man, sitting on the hood of a blue 1969 Dodge Charger.
"New car Colonel?" Tony asked as he and Liat approached Tom Colleton's car.
"Belonged to my dad" Tom said. "So, is it true?" Tom asked.
"You know it is" Tony said bluntly. "Several members of The Jerome Crime Family, Duke Lavery, Frank Smith, Joe Scully Sr." he listed. "Everything I have I owe to Sonny, so you're damn right I'm gonna protect him" Tony said.
"What about Vittorio Parretti?" Colleton asked with a smile. "After his death, The Corinthos Family was able to setup an overseas operation there"
1430 hours local time, 12 November 1998, Parretti Family Villa, 3 miles northeast of Milan, Italy. Vittorio Parretti was sitting behind his desk in his office when Admiral Chegwidden and Tony burst through the door. "AJ, what is the meaning of this?" demanded Parretti, speaking in his very thick Italian accent.
"His daughter has been kidnapped" answered Tony, emphasizing the word "His".
"This is no fault of mine" said Parretti, defending himself.
"Oh it's not it is?" asked Tony rhetorically and sarcastically. "Is that a fact…? Don Parretti?" asked Tony.
"Who is this man AJ? How dare he speak to me in such a disrespectful manner" demanded Parretti.
"I am the man who is going to kill you if you don't give us the answers we're looking for" replied Tony, in his perfect Italian, knowing full well that Chegwidden also understood it. "Now then, who has Francesca?" Tony demanded.
"You do not scare me" replied Parretti. Tony pulled out his 45. he raised it and fired a round off next to Parretti's head. Parretti screamed like a 5 year old girl. "Ok, I tell you. The Balboni's they have her" replied the very scared Parretti.
"How do you know that?" demanded Chegwidden, who had been quiet up to that point.
"A deal went bad, The Balboni's wanted be dead. So I gave them something else…" said Parretti.
"You gave them my daughter!" yelled AJ.
"They wanted me dead!" countered Parretti, trying to defend himself.
"Next time, call me, I'll save them the trouble" said Tony, calmly as he raised his weapon. He fired the remaining two bullets in his clip into Parretti's head. As he lowered his weapon he looked at Chegwidden. "We're gonna get her back Admiral. Now come on, we have work to do"
"I'm not the only member of the Unit that works for Sonny" Tony said.
"I know, Bridget told me about the documents she occasionally forges to allow Sonny to get his weapons shipments into the country" Colleton said.
"I wasn't talking about Bridget" Tony said.
"Who then?" Tom asked.
0115 hours, 1 July 2001, 10 miles north of Blacksburg, Virginia.
The road was all but deserted as FBI Special Agents Hannah Scott and Derrick Eckerd drove along. They were using a US Mail truck to disguise the shipment on its way to the J. Edgar Hoover Building in D.C. "Man, what we got back there, is enough to put Sonny Corinthos behind bars for the rest of his life" Agent Eckerd bragged.
"Not only that, but with what we got, we have enough to give his son Anthony the needle" Agent Scott commented.
"Must have been some source who gave us all that stuff on The Corinthos Family" Eckerd said.
"From what I heard, everything he gave us was about DiNozzo" Agent Scott said. "Supposedly knew him pretty well"
Before Agent Eckerd could say anything else, there were several loud pops and the van started to skid. "Damn it" Eckerd said as pulled the van to the side of the road. Both Agents exited the van and checked the tires on their respective sides. "Tires are shredded" Eckerd said.
"Same here" observed Agent Scott. Both Agents pulled out there cell phones. "I don't have a signal" she said.
"Me either" said Agent Eckerd as some headlights approached. Using their flashlights, the agents flagged down the driver. The driver pulled over and exited her black 1968 Pontiac GTO. "Thanks, can you give one of us a lift to the nearest town" Eckerd said as the 2 agents approached the car. Using her gloved right hand, the driver quickly pulled a gun, a P99, and quickly fired 5 shots at each of the agents. With both agents on the ground, the shooter fired an addition rounds in the face of each of the agents. The shooter quickly ejected the spent clip and inserted another.
With the 2 agents dead, the shooter holstered her weapon and approached the trunk of her car. She opened it and pulled out a gas can. She walked up to the back of the mail truck and poured the contents of the can, dowsing the boxes of files and evidence. Once the can was empty, she tossed it in. she pulled out a cigarette book and light the entire pack, tossing it inside.
Once the flames hit the gas tank, the truck erupted into a fireball, destroying all evidence inside. Satisfied with her work, the shooter got back in her GTO, fired up 455 cubic inch, V8 engine and sped away.

And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
