Jaqen sauntered into Lord Thaniel's room. Thaniel was the highest regarded of all the faceless men. He took over from Sir Grogen a long time ago before Jaqen had joined the house of black and white. Thaniel had helped make this place: the house of black and white, were they trained youngsters to become faceless. Jaqen had slowly made his way up and now he stood as equals with Thaniel like a selected few other. Only very occasionally did the selected few teach the students. No, their part was to carry out the deeds. They were the ones to give lives to the red god. But not just any lives, they had to kill the quickest of the quick, the strongest of the strong and the sneakiest sneak. This was part of the reason why they were called 'the selected few'. Thaniel turned as Jaqen entered. His eyes were emerald green and glinted as if he knew all the secrets in the world.
"Thaniel" Jaqen greeted him. He nodded in response.
"Antwose?" this is what Jaqen's selected name was but no-one apart from Thorin ever used it. Usually they called him "Lo" short for Lorathi. And Arya she called him by what she knew him as, "Jaqen". Of late Jaqen H'gar's face had become his own. Why? Because the lovely girl liked him that way.
"Antwose, why is there green paint on your face?" Thaniel asked his jewel like eyes glinting with amusement. Jaqen cursed, he had forgot about that dammed paint. He rubbed at it until it was gone and looked a little sheepishly up at Thaniel.
"A girl mistook a man as her painting canvas" He said smirking at the memory.
"Hmmm…" Thaniels face was still, faceless. Jaqen had no idea what he was thinking. He forced himself to give the same neutral face back.
"Since when do you go to visit Arya Stark before reporting to me?" He finally asked. There was no anger in his voice but it was not warm either.
"A man can do as he wishes, when he wants, no?" Jaqen replied in the same tone as Thaniel.
"Jaqen H'gar does what he wants. Antwose would have come to me first"
"Antwose is Jaqen H'gar" he said matter of factly. Thaniel nodded in agreement.
"Oh Antwose, I have no doubt about that"
Jaqen frowned a little not exactly understanding Thaniel's words.
"Let us stop babbling and arguing over names and tell me, what has happened while you were away?"
"A man sees, he hears…whispers…"
"Whispers of what?"
Jaqen glanced up grinning. "Dragons."
