Arya sidestepped out of his reach. Her brow was glistening with sweat and her arm sore from wielding the sword. Jaqen took a step forward, she raised her sword just in time and the deafening sound of steel on steel rang through the empty hall. Arya was pushed back further and further. "Come on girl" Jaqen hissed, his red and white hair brushed over his face as he spun away from her attack. She bared her teeth and lunged at him only to find him hit her sword with such a force she had not been suspecting. Her sword clattered to the ground and he raised the tip of his to her throat.

"Again" he said lowering his sword.

"I'm tired" She protested angrily. They had been fighting for hours always with the same result; her sword on the ground.

"Oh a man sees, a girl is tired. We must then stop of course, for that's what a killer would do, we must honour this girl. Let her regain her strength before we fight again" he mocked and bowed to her. She growled in anger and stalked over to her sword. She picked it up and stood assessing the situation. She watched him slowly step towards her, she breathed deeply before jumping towards him lashing at his side. He only just held his sword up in time and when they were facing each other she saw him grin.

"Better"

She smiled but it soon dropped as he swung at her and hit her hard on the shoulder with the flat of his blade.

"Stand more to your left" he commanded as he landed another blow onto her shoulder. She clenched her teeth. They fought on for another half an hour and Arya stood her ground well until Jaqen had tricked her by feigning right and then disarming her.

"A girl grows better, but she still carries to much emotion" He told her as they walked back from the hall. Arya huffed, her body was aching, her skin sticky with sweat and her left arm throbbed in pain. "I can't control my emotions" she snapped angrily at him.

"Ah but this a girl must learn, if she truly wants to become faceless"

"And what if I don't want to become faceless?" she retorted.

"Then why is a girl here?" She had no reply for that.

"Go girl, wash" he pushed her off towards her quarters were her lumpy straw bed lay.

"How come you get baths and hot water? And I get a bucket of cold water thrown over my head" She whined. Jaqen grinned at her.

"Because a man is a faceless man" She scowled at that and he laughed.

"Does a girl now want to be faceless?" he teased.

"No" she defied. He laughed and then gave a heavy sigh.

"If it is so important to a girl…" he pulled on her left arm and pulled her towards were his chambers were.

Candles flickered across the walls, a bed was in the corner and books were piled on a chair. In a slightly smaller room was were his bath lay. Arya had been in his quarters before, and was in his bathroom the other night but she hadn't noticed the books.

"I didn't know you read" she commented walking over to the books. She picked one up and flicked through it but found it was written in a language she didn't know.

"What language is this?"

"Laorathi" She walked back over to the bath where he was splashing hot water into. She knew Jaqen was born in Lorath, he had told her so the first time they met.

"Could you teach me Lorathi?" she asked. He paused looking up at her with his astonishingly blue eyes.

"Lorathi is not a well known language. Not many know of it, and it would be of little use. Why does a girl wish to learn?" She shrugged.

"Just curious I suppose"

"hmmm…curiosity killed the cat"

"I'm not a cat" she stated. He grinned at that.

"No, no you are a wolf" Her bath lay full and he chucked the bucket onto a small table. He nodded to her and walked out of the room. She could hear him moving about and she peeked around the corner. He was sitting over a desk writing something. She turned satisfied she would not be disturbed and slowly pulled off her clothes. Her muscles ached in protest but when she slid naked into the steaming water she sighed in happiness. She hadn't had a hot bath in so long. She swished the water around her hands watching the dirt that clung to her nails drift away. She then scrubbed her face. She was in the process of wiping dirt from her calloused feet when a voice made her jump.

"Sherup oso tw" she looked up startled to see Jaqen standing at the doorway. He was leaning against the doorframe and had that irritating lazy smile on his face. She sunk lower into the bath to make sure she was covered from view while glaring daggers at him.

"What?"

"Sherup oso tw…it translates from Lorathi into 'is a girl in need of soap?'"

"Oh…um, how do I say yes please?"

"Orath jay"

"Orath jay"

He walked over to a desk with draws and pulled out a bar of white soap he then turned to approach her.

"Close your eyes" she commanded him. He raised an eyebrow at that but did as she asked. He held out the soap his eyes firmly shut, she took it from him and he stepped back before asking

"Can a man sh rea?" which she guessed meant open his eyes.

"yes"

"Why is a girl so afraid of others seeing her body?" he asked. Arya shrugged not meeting his eye.

"I don't know it's just….my sister, she was always the pretty one…not me…" She trailed off.

"Deselota miyam" he said, his voice low and flowing smooth like water.

"Whats that mean?" He did not answer straight away but stood staring at her for a few seconds his eyes burning blue.

"A girl is beautiful" he murmered so softly she wasn't sure she heard him right and with that he turned away and only moments later she heard the scratching of his quill against parchment once again.
