Chapter 36: Lumiose city gym battles
The sun began to rise in Lumiose city and the light began to remove the darkness in Ash's room. The light shined on Pikachu's eyelids, waking him up.
"Chu" He said as he yawned and stretched. He had been laying on top of Ash's pillow, just above his head. He looked down at Ash and Serena, who was cuddled up next to him.
"Pika" Pikachu said before he looked out the window and saw a few Fletchling flying past the window. A few moments later, Serena and Ash woke up.
""Yawn" Morning Serena".
"Morning Ash" She said before she gave him a short kiss on the cheek.
"Fun date last night, wasn't it" Ash said.
"Yeah the roller skating was lots of fun, and it was nice to have Hervarios again" Serena said.
"Plus I think Red and Korrina had a good start to their relationship" Ash said.
"Those two go well together" Serena said. They got up and as Pikachu leapt onto Ash's shoulder. A few moments later Korrina and Red walked into the room.
"Morning guys" Red said.
"Hey where did you guys go last night after we left?" Serena said.
"We did a little Parkour before seeing the city from a good view" Korrina said.
"Korrina also gave me this" Red said showing the Aerodactlyite.
"A mega evolution component. Who is it for?" Ash said.
"It's for Aerodactly, and Ash Korrina and I have been taking about our pokemon that can Mega evolve" Red said.
"What about them?".
"Well we haven't told mom about us being Aura guardians, but we should at least tell her and professor we have learned Mega evolution"Red said.
"Well I suppose the professor has been wanting to know more about Mega evolution, and mom should at least know her son's can use Mega evolution. But we can't tell them that Felix gave them too us" Ash said.
"Plus the professor will want a full explanation of how it works" Serena said.
"Here's what we'll tell him, that I gave you the stones and that it was my grandfather who gave them to me and I gave them to you both for winning the gym battles" Korrina said.
"Well you did give us our Mega evolution Key stones and you did give me my Lucarionite and Red his Aerodactlyite , and Serena her Absolite, so we won't be lying" Ash said.
"We'll just have to ask them to keep it quite" Red said.
"I just hope Alexa doesn't come, she'll make it a front page news story" Serena said.
A few minutes later they walked out to the dinning room where Mr. Mime was sweeping the floor. Delia was near the sink mixing some batter.
"Morning sleepyheads" She said as she saw them walk closer.
"Morning mom" Red said.
"So how was your double date last night?".
"It was great, Red overcame his fear of rollerskating" Ash said.
"You did!".
"Yes..I did".
"How wonderful, if you're hungry breakfast is almost ready".
"Thanks Mrs. Ketchum" Serena said. They sat down after letting their pokemon out and giving them their breakfast.
"So what's the plan for today?" Delia asked.
"Well we're going to meet up with Clemont and Bonnie , then we actually wanted to show you and the professor something" Red said.
"Show us what?".
"We should wait until we get to the professor's place. It's something you need to see first" Ash said.
"Oh alright" Delia said. After finishing breakfast the four left the apartment and headed towards Clemont and Bonnie's place.
"So who's going to face Clemont first?" Ash said.
"Well you did face Ramos first" Red said.
"And you faced, Viola, Grant, and Korrina first" Ash said. Red sweatdropped.
"Alright".
"What pokemon are you going to use?" Serena said.
"I haven't use Charizard in a gym battle since Grant. I'll probably give him a shot" Ash said.
"What about you Red?" Korrina asked.
"Aero, he hasn't had a chance to be in a gym battle yet". It took them another ten minutes of walking before they reached the apartment.
"Here we are" Ash said. Red saw buzzed in at Clemont's apartment number.
"Hello" Clemont said through the machine.
"Clemont it's us, we're heading over to the professor's place" Red said.
"Oh great! Bonnie and I are coming down, Oh and our dad wants to come with us" Clemont said. A few minutes later, the doors opened and Clemont came out with Bonnie and Meyer.
"Meyer nice to see you again" Ash said.
"Ash, Red, Serena. Nice to you kids too" Meyer said.
"Say who's this lovely young lady. I don't believe we've met" Meyer said as he saw Korrina.
"Hello my name's Korrina, I'm the Shalour city gym leader. I'm also Red's girlfriend".
"What! So now both of your friends are dating and you're not my son" Meyer said as he turned to Clemont.
"Dad please not again" Clemont said sweatdropping.
"I've been trying to find him a proper wife father, but he keeps undermining me at every opportunity" Bonnie said.
"Clemont! It's no wonder you're still single, you let your sister help you find a proper wife!".
"Well that explains that" Ash whispered to Serena who laughed a little with PIkachu.
Clemont sighed.
"Let's just get to the professor". They walked over to the professor's lab to see Delia and Alexa waiting for them.
"Alexa"Ash said nervously.
"Hey there you guys are, nice to see you all again" Alexa said.
"Alexa what are you doing here" Red said sweatdropping .
"The professor asked me to come over, he thinks he's found something very interesting in his research on Mega evolution".
"Well he's about to get more than he could imagine" Serena whispered to Ash.
"Wait a minute, I don't believe we've my young lady" Alexa said turning to Korrina.
"Hello my name's Korrina, I'm the Shalour city gym leader".
"How did you become friends with these guys?" Alexa said.
"Well we first met on the path to Geosenge town. We got along together so we stuck with each other until we got to Shalour city".
"So you've been traveling with them ever since?".
"No , we met again just before we got here" Korrina said.
"What brought you here?".
"Red" Korrina said taking his hand.
"Oh I see" Alexa said.
"Well the professor is waiting for us, let's not keep him waiting" Delia said. The group walked inside and saw Alaina writing something down while sitting at a table.
"Alaina" Alexa said. Alaina turned over and saw the group.
"Oh there you guys are. Sycamore has been waiting for you, follow me" Alaina said as she took them into the pokemon enclosure. Once inside they saw the dozens of other pokemon in the enclosure.
"Wow look at all the pokemon" Bonnie said.
"They all belong to the professor's students" Red said. Moments later a familiar pokemon flew over and landed on Ash's shoulder.
"Squak" Fletchinder said.
"Fletchinder it's you" Ash said as he rubbed the back of his pokemon's head and he rubbed his head against Ash's.
"Well look who's here" A familiar voice said. The group turned and saw professor Sycamore a few feet away from them.
"Professor" Ash said.
"I was wondering when you'd make it back here". The group went over to him as he lead them to another part of the Enclosure as the group let all their pokemon out.
"I presume you two are here to face Clemont" Sycamore said.
"We are" Red said.
"That must mean you both have 4 gym badges", Ash and Red showed the professor their badges.
"Impressive, Serena how has your challenges at the battle chateau been going?".
"It's been going well, with Ash's help I was able to win the last one in Coumarine city and make it to the rank of countess".
"Congratulations, making it to that rank is no easy task. Plus it puts you in a much tougher battle group".
"huh?" Serena said confused.
"Now that you're a Countess, you'll be put against people of higher ranks in further tournaments" Sycamore said. At first the thought of having to face a much stronger class of trainers in her future tournaments was scary. However, the more she thought about it the more she realized that battling those trainers would prepare he for the grand festival.
"That sounds exciting" Serena said.
"So Korrina, what brings you here to Lumiose city? Shouldn't you be running the gym in Shalour city?".
"I actually came here for a few reasons" Korrina said as she took Red's hand again.
"A few reasons?" Sycamore said clearly not understanding what she was saying. Korrina and the others sweat-dropped. Alaina walked over and whispered something to Sycamore.
"Ohh, well uh congratulations I guess".
"That's not the only reason I'm here, professor are you still researching Mega evolution?" Korrina said.
"Yes , I've been going day and night trying to figure it out. I've been getting so close to a breakthrough, but I can never seem to get where I need".
"Well maybe we can help you, with Korrina's help we made a big discovery in Mega evolution" Ash said.
"Discovery? What discovery?" Delia said.
"Guys could you come over here" Ash said. His Charizard and Lucario came over at the same time Red's Aerodactly,his Charizard, Korrina's Lucario, and Serena's Absol came over. Delia, Alexa, Alaina, and Sycamore noticed that all of the pokemon were wearing some kind of item with a stone imbedded in them. Ash and Red's Charizards had metal necklaces, the Lucrio had metal armor around their right forearm. Aerodactly had a band around his head, and Absol had a necklace. In each of these there was a stone that looked nearly identical to each other except for the colorations.
"What are those stones that they're wearing?" Delia asked.
Ash hesitated at first but then revealed his mega evolution stone on his glove before touching it. Moments later the stones on Charizard's necklace and Lucario's wrist holder began to glow. Moments later colorful spheres formed around Charizard and Lucario.
"What the!?" Alaina said as Sycamore, Delia , and Alexa watched in sheer disbelief. When the sphere's vanished Ash's Lucario and Charizard were in their Mega evolved forms.
"Grawww!".
"Grauu!" . They roared.
"I , I , I" Sycamore said shaking. Red pressed the stone on his glove, moments later his Charizard and Aerodactly began to mega evolve. When Aero was done Mega evolving his body had appeared to turn to stone. He was paler and gained multiple black spikes all over its body. There were five spikes on each wing replacing his hands, three on his tail, one large spike on his back, and one on the back of each foot. Five additional spikes appeared on his head: two replacing his pointed ears, two on the sides of his face and one on his chin. There were now two black plates above his eyes. He had three dark bumps on his chest: two small marks and a longer mark between the other two. His eyes had changed to a dark green color.
"Woah" Red said having never seen Aero in Mega form.
Korrina and Serena followed suit and Mega evolved their pokemon too.
"Your pokemon, have-have they?".
"They have Mega evolved" Ash said.
"I- I" Sycamore said in disbelief.
"Incredible!" Alexa said as she took out her camera and started taking pictures of the pokemon.
"How did you do this?" Delia said.
"My grandfather discovered it was the power of these stones and the bond between a trainer and his pokemon that caused a pokemon to Mega evolve. After Ash and Red defeated me, my grandfather decided they were worthy of wielding them, and after I got to know Serena better, I thought she was ready to have one" Korrina said.
"This is unbelievable, I actually get to see these pokemon up close" Sycamore said as he came closer to Ash's Lucario.
"Ash, Red , why didn't you tell me about this sooner! This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen" Delia said.
"You're telling me! This is going to be the most amazing story I've ever written!" Alexa said as she took more pictures.
"NO!" Korrina nearly shouted.
"What?" Alaina said.
"You see Gurkinn is the one who made this discovery and he asked us to keep it a secret until he's ready to tell the world" Ash said.
" But this could be the story of the century" Alexa gave a disappointed expression.
"Please Alexa , this is actually very important" Red said.
"Just do it, we'll get plenty of press from the match tomorrow" Delia said. Alexa sighed.
"Can I at least show Viola these pictures, she'd love them to no end". The teens sweat dropped.
"Alright just make sure she keeps it quite" Korrina said. As Clemont looked over at his father he noticed a large smile on his face.
"Dad are you just as amazed by this?" Clemont asked.
"I am son, more than you know" Meyer said as he stepped forward and took out a pokebal, sending out a large bipedal red bird like pokemon.
"What is that?" Serena said opening his pokedex.
"Blaziken, the Blaze Pokémon. Blaziken is able to easily leap over 30 story buildings with its great lower body strength".
"Dad you're Blaziken" Bonnie said.
"Blaziken was my first pokemon, back when I was a trainer starting my journey in Hoenn. For years I've had a secret, one I kept because I thought I was the only one to have . But now I know , we're not alone" Meyer said as he took out a Mega evolution stone and touched it. Blaziken revealed a glove with a yellow and black stone in the center. A colorful sphere formed around Blaziken as he grew larger. The group watched in amazement as the transformation was complete.
Blaziken had lost his yellow markings, and gained black markings on his upper legs and chest. His hair like feathers take on a wing-like shape and point upward, and the portion around his chest became rough around his shoulders. The crest on his head changes into a flat horn that curved backward. The fire he created on his wrists was now longer, as well.
"Dad your Blaziken can Mega evolve!" Clemont said.
"Back when I was a young trainer in Hoenn , I stumbled upon an hidden chamber near Lillycove city. The tomb seemed strange, filled with statues of men in robes and pokemon standing next to them. There were also black spade symbols all over. Deep inside I found a room with a chest in it. Inside the chest there were two stones, Blaziken was out and took a good liking to the yellow one. So I took the stones , but when I touched mine Blaziken transformed. I was amazed at this , but I was more amazed at how skilled he had become. I've kept it a secret because I was afraid that he would be alone. Now I see he's not".
"This is amazing" Sycamore said.
"You know if you boys have Mega pokemon, I would love to be able to finally give Blaziken a fair fight. If one of you wanted to battle me for your gym badge".
"Really!" Ash said.
"Blaziken has bever gotten to battle another pokemon in Mega form. I'm sure he'd love a challenge" Meyer said.
"Well Charizard hasn't been able to have a battle for a while. Do you want to go against him?" Ash said turning to his Mega Charizard.
"Graww!" Mega Charizard Y roared accepting the challenge.
"Well let's head out to the when Ash is done with battling with my father you and I can have our battle" Clemont said.
"I'm looking forward to it" Red said.
"I know this is asking a lot, but while you are there. May I study some of your pokemon while he is in this form. I've waited years for an opportunity to study a Mega evolved pokemon up close" Sucamore said.
"Well I'll only be using Charizard in my battle. Lucario would you mind staying here with the professor?" Ash said.
"Grauu" Lucario said nodding.
"Charizard could you stay here too?" Red said.
"Graww" Charizard X said nodding.
"Absol would you mind letting the professor having a look at you?" Serena said.
"Sol" Absol said nodding.
"Thank you so much. I've waited so long for this opportunity" Sycamore said. 30 minutes later the group had gotten over to Prism tower. Ash stood on one end of the battlefield with Mega Charizard Y standing beside him. On the other end of the battlefield Meyer and his Mega Blaziken stood facing Ash.
Except for Clemont, the rest of the group were sitting in the bleachers beside the battlefield.
"This is going to be amazing! Seeing two Mega evolved pokemon battle" Red said.
"I always did love watching two Mega evolved pokemon battling" Korrina said.
"The battle between senior leader Meyer and challenger Ash Ketchum is about to commence. Each trainer will be allowed one pokemon , and when their opponent's pokemon has been knocked out they are the winner" Clemont said.
"Let us begin Blaziken come in close and get a hold on him" Meyer said.
"Charizard into the air , then use Dragon Pulse". Charizard Y launched himself off the ground as Mega Blaziken sprinted across the ground with unmatched speed. Just before Charizard Y could get high enough, Mega Blaziken leapt up into the air and grabbed Charizard Y by the tail. This caught Ash and Charizard Y completely off guard as Blaziken hurled Charizard Y into the ground by his tail.
"Charizard!" Ash shouted.
"Fire Punch, don't let up" Meyer said. Blaziken landed on Charizard Y's chest just before he could get up. Blaziken's talons ignited as he began plowing them into Charizard's face relentlessly.
"This isn't good" Korrina said.
"His poor Charizard" Delia said.
"Come on Ash do something!" Red shouted.
"Go dad!" Bonnie shouted.
"Charizard grab him but wait for his arms to go back". Charizard Y looked up and brought his paws in between his face and Blaziken, catching Blaziken's talons in his paws. It was then Blaziken noticed A violet light forming in Charizard's throat and mouth. Charizard opened it and unleashed Dragon pulse right into Blaziken's face, hurling him across the battlefield.
"Alright! Great job Charizard!" , "PIka!".
"Well that could have been bad" Red said as Charizard Y got up and snarled. Mega Blaziken leapt right back up onto his feet and took an aggressive stance against Charizard.
"Impressive moves young man, but we've been training a long time for this battle" Meyer said.
"So have we, Charizard straight up into the air and use Inferno".
"Blaziken counter with fire blast and grab some quarry before using High jump kick". Charizard flew straight up into the air as Blaziken ran under him. Charizard's tail turned massive as he unleashed an inferno that heated up the entire room.
"Wow it's gotten hotter in here" Delia said as she began to sweat.
"You're telling me" Alexa said. Blaziken blasted a symbol shaped burst of fire into the Inferno, halting it as Blaziken smashed his fists into the ground before hurling himself at Charizard.
"Charizard fly behind him" Ash said.
"Stone edge!". Blaziken hurled the spiked rocks he had collected into Charizard Y's path, hitting him across his chest and wings.
"Charizard!". The Stone edge slowed Charizard Y down long enough for Blaziken to slam his boot into Charizard's stomach and plowing him into the ground.
"Dam that's one skilled Blaziken" Red said.
"Ash has his work cut out for him" Korrina said.
"It's not over yet Ash, keep fighting!" Serena shouted.
"Blaziken give him a fire punch".
"Charizard spin yourself around and then use Inferno into an Air attack". Charizard growled as his Tail flame turned massive and his hurled himself around using his wings. The force flipped Blaziken off him as Charizard's wings smacked into Blaziken's face. Despite this Blaziken backflipped and landed on his feet. Unfortunately for him, by the time he landed Charizard unlashed Inferno, engulfing Blaziken in an ocean of fire.
"Blaziken leap out of there!" Meyer shouted. Blaziken leapt up and out of the fire just in time to see Charizard flying into him and slashing him across the face and chest. As soon as Charizard Y passed his opponent, he re-angled his wings and made a sharp turn before using Air slash on Blaziken's back hurling him into the ground.
"Alright we've got him on the ropes Charizard!".
"He's got it now!" Serena said. Charizard Y flew in as he prepared to finnish Blaziken with another Air slash.
"High jump kick!". At the last possible Blaziken got up and smashed his foot into Charizard's head with all his might. The force hurled charizard backwards.
"Stone edge!", Before Charizard Y could even hit the ground, Blaziken leapt up with several spiked rocks in hand and hurled them into Charizard Y.
"Charizard!" , "Pika!". After the rocks plowed Charizard Y into the ground he was knocked out and reverted back to his normal form.
"Charizard is unable to battle, the winner is Meyer" Clemont said with a hint of excitement.
"Ash lost" Serena said.
"Dam" Red said.
"Meyer is good" Korrina said.
"Of course he is" Bonnie said.
"Oh no, the first time I see my son battle and he looses" Delia said. Ash walked over and helped his Charizard get up.
"Are you ok Charizard?".
"Graww" Charizard said slowly nodding.
"I know we lost Charizard but you put up a great fight. We can't win every battle, but what matters most is the experience which we get whether we win or loose", "Pika pikachu". Charizard nodded.
Meyer and Blaziken came over to Ash and Charizard.
"Well that battle was certainly worth the wait. You and your Charizard were incredible, it certainly gave Blaziken and I a run for our money" Meyer said.
"Thanks Meyer, your Blaziken is quite a pokemon". Meyer's Blaziken had reverted back into his normal form and extended his hand out to Charizard. Charizard waited a moment but brought his own hand out and shook Blaziken's.
"Ash may have lost but his attitude looks good" Korrina said.
"Ash and I have both lost gym battles before, we can accept that loosing is part of a trainer's journey" Red said.
"That is true, it took me three tries before I won my first battle Chateau" Serena said. Ash and his Charizard walked over to the others with Meyer and Blaziken.
"Well I guess Charizard and I will need to do some training before we face Meyer again" Ash said.
"I wish I could help, but tomorrow is the day I spend with my dad" Serena said.
"It's alright , I already know how we're going to train for the rematch" Ash said.
"Well now that Ash is done, I guess that means it's my turn against Clemont" Red said. Ash sat down next Serena as Clemont and Red stood on opposite sides of the battlefield.
"I've been looking forward to a battle with you Clemont" Red said.
"I won't be holding back" Clemont said.
"I choose you Aero!" Red shouted as his Aerodactly came out and flew above the battlefield.
"Time for battle, Heliolisk!" Clemont shouted as he let his Heliolisk out. Heliolisk danced around a little as he opened his frill.
"The gym battle between Leader Clemont and Challenger Red Ketchum will now begin. Each trainer is allowed one pokemon and once they know out their opponent's pokemon they are the winner" Meyer said.
"Let us Begin Heliolisk with Charge". Heliolisk's body began to spark with electricity.
"Aero use Steel wing" Aero roared as he flew in at Heliolisk.
" Parabolic charge!". Heliolisk's frill opened up and he unleashed a storm of electricity the filled the entire air above the battlefield.
"Aero cover yourself with your wings and do a barrel roll!" Aero held his wings over himself enough to give himself some cover, but also enough to still stay airborne. As he spun around the metal in his wings absorbed all of the electricity coming at him and kept it away from his body.
"That's a lot of electricity" Serena said.
"Look again" Ash said as he and Korrina smiled. Clemont and his Heliolisk both noticed that Red had a rather confident smile.
"Huh?" Clemont said. When the electricity faded Aero continued flying at Heliolisk looking practically unscaved.
"Steel wing!" Aero smashed both of his now metal wings into Heliolisk, hurling him across the room.
"What? But he was hit" Clemont said dumbstruck.
"His wings absorbed all of the electricity" Red said as Aero flew back and above his trainer.
Clemont's face turned white as he gave 3 sweatdrops.
"Oh no" he said quietly.
"Aww but that would have done so much damage" Bonnie said.
"Red sure is creative" Serena said.
"Aero come in low and use Wing attack". Aero flew down close to the ground with incredible speed.
"Oh no, uh. Wait! Heliolisk use Dig!" Clemont said. Heliolisk burrowed his way underground and narrowly avoided Aero.
"Heliolisk knows dig?" Red said.
"Thunder!" Clemont shouted. Heliolisk opened his frill and blasted Aero with a powerful bolt of electricity , hurling Aero into the ground.
"Yeah we got him!" Clemont said as his Heliolisk danced around.
"I guess Clemont kept a few things about Heliolisk secret. He must have prepared for this match as much as I have" Red said to himself.
"Way to go Clemont!" Bonnie shouted.
"Aero use Agility" Aero flew down and around Heliolisk with incredible speed. Heliolisk tried to keep up with Aero , but doing so just made him dizzy.
"Aero maul him".
"Uh oh, Heliolisk use dig". Heliolisk burrowed his way underground and waited for Aero to fly past him before he leapt up and opened his frill.
"Agility!" Aero sped flew behind Heliolisk as quick as lightning , narrowly avoiding the incoming Thunder before opening his massive jaws and snatching Heliolisk by the tail.
"What?" Clemont said as he and his Heliolisk both sweat dropped.
"Uh oh" Bonnie said.
"Into the air and then Steel wing" Red said. Aero hurled Heliolisk into the air, then flew at him before smashing his wings into Heliolisk's head.
"And Red comes right back" Korrina said.
"Him and Aero are really pumped about this match" Ash said seeing the determination on their expressions.
"We got them now Aero. Come in low but keep your wings angled". Aero quickly flew down and towards Heliolisk.
" Heliolisk use dig", moments later Heliolisk burrowed himself underground as Aero flew past.
"Clemont wouldn't try the same thing twice. He's not stupid, he must have another plan" Red said to himself.
"Helolisk come up and use your tail to bring rocks!" . Heliolisk reemerged with 3 large rocks in front of him. Using his Dragon tail, Helolisk hurled the rocks at Aero with great power.
"Aero Steel wing behind you!" Aero turned around just in time to use his metal wings to knock one of the rocks away, unfortunately the other two smashed into Aero's face knocking him off balance. Seizing the opportunity , Heliolisk opened his frill and unleashed a massive bolt of electricity into Aero. With his metal wings knocked aside, Aero couldn't use them to absorb the electricity.
"Groo!" Aero cried out in pain.
"We got him!" Clemont said in excitement.
"Well done son" Meyer said.
"Is he out?" Delia said concerned.
"That was quite a move" Serena said.
"Clemont is a good trainer, but I don't think Red has forgotten that" Ash said. Moments later, Heliolisk was hurled off Aero by a whip of his wings.
"Aero and I still have a lot of fight left in us Clemont, Steel wing".
"Heliolisk use rocks to knock him off balance, then fill him with electricity" Clemont said. Heliolisk smashed the ground with his tail bringing up several large rocks , before smashing them at Aero.
Aero easily dodged or smashed the rocks away with his metal wings.
"Heliolisk dig!", Heliolisk quickly burrowed himself underground.
"I know you just learned this but we have to try it. Giga impact!" Red shouted. Aero flew right into the ground and smashed it with such great force it felt like a small earthquake. This caught Clemont completely off guard as the tremors forced Heliolisk up and out of the ground.
"Steel wing!" Aero flew over and smashed Heliolisk into the ground.
"Lisk" Heliolisk said with swirly eyes. Meyer took a deep breath.
"Heliolisk is unable to battle, the winner is the challenger".
"We did it Aero!" Aero roared in victory before landing on his trainer and forcing him to the ground as he licked across his face. Clemont sighed as he walked over and helped Heliolisk up.
"It's alright Heliolisk , you battled your hardest" Clemont said. Red and Aero came over to Clemont.
"That was quite a battle Clemont, you and your Heliolisk were amazing".
"Thanks Red, you and Aero were amazing". Meyer walked over to Red and his son.
"You are quite a skilled young trainer Red. You have certainly earned this" Meyer said as he handed Red a Voltage badge. The voltage badge looked similar to a shield with lightning coming out of it.
"Thanks Meyer, We're over half way there" Red said showing the badge to Aero.
"Red's battling was very impressive, it's almost too bad he couldn't use Mega evolution" Korrina said.
"That wouldn't have been very fair to Clemont" Ash said.
" True, but it was a very exciting battle anyway" Korrina said.
"Now I just need to get my fifth badge".
"Don't worry Ash, you and Charizard just need a little extra training before you next battle" Serena said.
"Right, I already planned on getting up early and heading just outside the city with Charizard" Ash said.
"Your son is incredible" Alexa said as she took a picture of Aero.
"I'm glad I was able to see both of them in a gym battle. Being away from them for so long after all" Delia said. After finishing up in the gym and stopping at the pokemon center, the group went back to Sycamore's lab. Sycamore was still with the rest of the Mega evolved pokemon.
"This is amazing!" Sycamore said in excitement as Ash's Lucario thrust his arm forward and a wave of energy came around them.
"Every time he thrusts his arm like this, there is a wave of energy emitted.
"Professor we're back" Serena said. Alaina and Sycamore turned and saw them.
"Ah welcome back, how did the gym battles go?".
"I got my fifth badge" Red said.
"Meyer's Mega Blaziken was too much for us, but we're going to battle him again" Ash said.
"Well congratulations Red, I've been having the best time studying your Mega pokemon. I've never seen anything like this before".
"Well it's getting pretty late, we should actually be heading home" Delia said.
"Well I guess you'll be needing your pokemon back then. Very well" Sycamore said as the pokemon reverted back to their normal forms and walked back to their trainers. Ash's Fletchinder flew back over and landed on his shoulder.
"It was nice seeing you again too Fletchinder, I'll be back here tomorrow" Ash said stroking Fletchinder's head. The group parted ways with Alexa and went back to the apartment. After having dinner each went to bed. Red was laying down with his head against his pillow and his new badge in his hand. Korrina was cuddled up against him with her arms around his shoulders and her head on his chest. Korrina had undone her ponytail and he very long hair fell fan down almost all the way to her knees.
Like Ash, Red slept just in a pair of black work out shorts.
"Going to stare at that badge all night are we?" Korrina joked.
"No , I was just thinking about Ash's match with Meyer and how he lost".
"Loosing is part of a trainer's journey".
"I know, I know, I've lost gym battles before too. What I mean was it got me thinking about how little experience Ash and my Mega evolved pokemon have against other Mega evolved pokemon. I mean our Charizards have battled once, I faced you, you and Ash faced Earl. But you and I haven't really faced any seasoned Mega evolved pokemon yet".
"I suppose that's true" Korrina said thinking more about what Red said.
"Maybe while we're together, you and I should have some battles with our Mega evolved pokemon so they have more experience. I mean I'm a guardian in training, and you're a young guardian . Plus we've seen team rocket has gotten their hands on some Mega evolution stones. I think we should be more prepared" Red said.
"That does sound like a good idea, but in the morning. Now got some sleep".
"Alright but I" Red started before she kissed him and said.
"Sleep", through and aura message.
Author's note
Well I'm glad I was able to get this one done as quick as I did. I finished Calc 2 recently and have a few more weeks until class starts again. But like I said before, when it does start you'll have to bare with me. I have several classes and ROTC, so I will have other priorities. I will still update when I can though.
I can confirm that this story is over halfway through. Not much but still more than half.
