Ava threw herself into the sea of stuffed animals on her bed, hanging onto the newest addition for dear life. The fox stood out from the rest of the teddies and bunnies. Ava kicked her shoes off her feet and off of her bed and rolled over so she could stare at the ceiling fan as it spun lazily. She didn't even bother with getting undressed before she started to doze off. Instead she pulled Odin's jacket tighter around her as she was lulled to sleep by the scent of pine trees and smoke.

When she awoke, Ava had a soft smile playing across her lips. Her hair was a wreck, she was still in her wrinkled clothes from the day before, and maybe she had a bit of dried drool on her cheek but she still smiled. The black denim jacket she wore came to her knees and she had to roll the sleeves up several time just to gain the use of her arms. That didn't matter though.

Ava rolled out of bed and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast. Maggie was passed out on the loveseat in an odd position that was going to hurt when she woke up. She acknowledged this for a moment then proceeded to trek to the fridge and pull out eggs and bacon.

Grabbing the frying pan from the cabinet, Ava went about cooking enough for herself and Maggie. When the bacon was done frying, she set about cracking the eggs and whisking them together. After pouring the eggs onto the pan, she started pulling out plates and silverware for breakfast in between scrambling the eggs.

Once finished, Ava portioned the food onto the plates and headed towards the living room. She set one plate down on the coffee table in front of Magnolia and shoved her friend's feet off the end of the couch so she could sit.

Maggie groaned and muttered curses to the heavens above. She sat up slowly and rubbed at her eyes, smudging yesterday's makeup. As she opened her mouth to say something, Ava interjected.

"I made breakfast." Then Ava turned on the television. Maggie nodded to herself and didn't say a word until her plate was empty.

"Did you seriously sleep in that thing, Ava?" Maggie's asked, motioning to the jacket her friend wore.

"Yup," Ava replied, turning the slightest shade of pink. She shrugged it off and tried to focus on the television.

"Damn, girl. You've got it bad don't you?" Maggie poked at Ava's side. Ava shooed the girl's hand away and denied it but the blush on her face betrayed her.

"Oh man," Maggie jumped enthusiastically to face Ava on the couch, "You've totally got it bad for him! Come on, you gotta spill the details. How'd the date go? Was he nice? Did he pay? Did you kiss him? Come on, your girl needs to know!"

Ava shifted uncomfortably on the couch. A thoughtful look on her face, she gathered the dirty dishes. "It was nice," she thought aloud as she made her way to the kitchen, an extra bounce in her step. Maggie watched, slack jawed, as her friend walked away from her. She lept from the couch to chase after her friend.

"Oh, no you don't! You get back here and tell me why you've got that goofy look on your goofy face!" The taller girl jumped up onto the counter next to where Ava was washing the dishes. "Come on, you twerp. Something happened or else you still wouldn't be wearing that dumb jacket of his. That thing swallows you whole, by the way. Now, spill it." Ava sighed and dried her hands.

"Nothing serious happened, Maggs. I just forgot to give his jacket back. It got cold. Last night was fun. Now, can you just let this drop?" Ava looked exasperated at this point. "Getting hounded by my friend isn't exactly how I wanted this morning to go." Maggie backed off a bit.

"Geez, sorry. I just wanted to know what's going on in my best friend's life. Is that too much to ask for? To look out for my little Ava?" She was laying the drama on thick at this point.

"You and I both know that's a load of bull, Magnolia. You just want gossip material and I'm not gonna give it to you," Ava lifted her chin in defiance and went to go take a shower.

Ava set about showering and getting dressed for the day. She chose a sunshine yellow dress, brown flats, and a floppy straw hat to wear. Taking the extra step, she even dusted a sheer eyeshadow across her lids. Ava grabbed her bunny backpack and headed downstairs to leave the house when Maggie stopped her.

"Where do you think you're going all dressed up like that? You're definitely not going to play in dirt looking like that. Are you gonna see your new toy?" Maggie friend hit her with a barrage of questions all at once. Readjusting her pack, Ava pushed Maggs aside.

"What are you, my mom? I'm going out shopping. I need some new clothes as you so graciously reminded me my current wardrobe is too lame and dorkish," Ava grumbled. Magnolia grabbed Ava by the strap of her backpack and pulled her through the front door.

"Come on, dork. We'll take my car. And you know I didn't mean that."
