chapter 43: Two challengers
It was the morning after Ash and Red's gym battles in the pokemon center. Serena was still sleeping with her head rested against Ash's shoulder. That was when she felt a tap on her shoulder and slowly opened her eyes.
She saw Bonnie standing beside the bed with a big smile on her face.
"Oh morning Bonnie, you seem to be very happy" Serena said. Bonnie simply nodded while closing her eyes.
"Why aren't you talking?" Serena said. Bonnie brought her face up to the ceiling, when she revealed herself again her face was Serena's.
"Ahh!" Serena screamed terrified at what she saw. The scream awoke Ash and Pikachu.
"Huh Serena what's wrong?" Ash said before him and Pikachu noticed Bonnie.
"Oh morning Bonnie!".
"Pika!" They shouted equally as terrified. Bonnie then transformed revealing it was Zorua the entire time.
"Zorua!" Ash shouted.
"Pika!". Zorua laughed as Serena gave a sigh.
"Still playing jokes are we" She said before she reached for his pokeball and returned him.
"He still need a bit of training" She said sweat dropping.
"I wish that were the case, but from what the pokedex said that's probably his personality as a pokemon. I doubt you'll be able to change that even with some training" Ash said.
"I suppose you have a point" Serena said. They both got up and out of bed.
"So todays your next battle tournament. Are you excited?" Ash said.
"Does a Fletchling fly? Of course I am! I get to face off against much better trainers than before. Which means I have a real chance of raising my rank".
"Right" Ash said.
"So Ash are you and Red going to compete?" Serena said.
"Actually we talked about it and decided not to" Ash said.
"Ash if this is about what happened at my last tournament then you don't need to worry. I was out of line there and I have no problem with you entering".
"Actually Serena, Red and I decided that Chateau's are your goal. If we did it we'd just be doing it for the fun of it and nothing else. This is your chance for greatness and we don't want to impede on your chances".
Serena blushed a little.
"Thank you Ash".
"I'm going to get some breakfast, you want some?" Ash said.
"Actually I should take a shower first, I'll meet with you guys when I'm done" Serena said.
"Alright". A few minutes later Ash was at a booth with the rest of the group.
"So Korrina I've been wondering about how this whole mission thing works for aura guardians. Felix never went too in depth about it" Ash said.
"Right well generally there are a few types of guardians. One type of guardians are always out on missions or assignments for the mentor of their region. These guardians usually devote every day of their life to the brotherhood and usually don't have families outside of the brotherhood. Because everything they do is for the brotherhood these members usually become masters at younger ages".
"I guess that's what dad was" Red said.
"Another type of guardian is the watchmen. These guardians spend less time on missions and more time exploring areas and entwining with pokemon and nature. They don't go on so many assigned missions, but look out for danger in everyday life to a pokemon's ecosystem. These guardians generally have more time on their hands and usually can have lives outside of the brotherhood".
"That sounds fun! Living with and among pokemon" Bonnie said imagining herself running with a group of wild pokemon.
"Then there is the third type of guardian, the hide in plain sight kind. These kinds of guardians are sort of like a national guard of the guardians. They usually have lives outside of the brotherhood. Things like careers, families, and other things. Guardians like that usually help out in missions when they are close by or are needed because of a unique skill sets. They also provide resources and intelligence for the brotherhood".
"Intelligence?" Clemont said.
"Things that aura guardians need to know when something bad happens. Some guardians have become high ranking members of militaries. Some have even become world renowned pokemon trainers." Korrina said.
"Military members, like Captain Nair" Red said.
"Who?" Korrina said.
"He was an aura guardian we met at a battle Chateau and was in the Kanto air force" Ash said.
"Interesting" Korrina said.
"So being an aura guardian isn't like signing up for the military is it" Clemont said.
"No, it's agreeing to be part of an ancient society that help pokemon and people whenever they can. For some guardians they do more in their main lives than as guardians".
"I guess we're that kind of guardian" Ash said.
"Yeah".
"I am too, as much as I like being in the brotherhood, I still want to have a have fulfilling life. Like being a gym leader" Korrina said.
A few minutes later they were joined by Serena.
"Morning Serena, excited for your tournament?" Red said.
"Very excited, it's my first chance to go against a higher class of trainers" Serena said as she sat down next to Ash.
"Say Korrina some of the other gym leaders we've met are members of the battle chateau. What about you?" Ash said.
"Well to be honest, I was never all that interested in the whole fancy dress up balls idea of the battle chateau. I regular gym battles are more my style" Korrina said.
"Awe come on Korrina you'd love battle Chateaus. A chance to face off against so many different types of trainers and show how well you've trained your pokemon. It's amazing" Serena said.
"Why don't you enter this tournament with Serena" Red said.
"Huh?" Korrina said.
"Yeah! We should enter together! It would be so much fun having the two of us compete. We might even get a chance to face each other" Serena said excited.
"I don't know" Korrina said.
"Come on Korrina I know you'll have a good time if you give it a chance. Come on for me" Red said taking her hand.
"Alright Red, I'll give it a try".
"Alright this is going to be great!" Serena said. After finishing their breakfast, the group made their way to the Laverre city battle chateau. Like the other chateaus, it resembled a medieval aged castle.
At the front entrance there was a man wearing a well made suite and a monocle.
"Welcome to the battle chateau, I am sir Benedict. Are you returning members or new members?" the man asked as he gave a respectful bow.
"We're returning members but our friend Korrina is a new member" Serena said as she showed Benedict her membership card.
"So miss Korrina, you wish to join us?" Benedict said.
"Yes..I do" Korrina said nervously.
"Well welcome then Miss Korrina. Please follow me inside and I will show you to the dressing rooms so that you may get into proper attire".
"Proper attire?" Korrina said. A few minutes later Serena had just finished her hair and make up. Zorua was out beside her looking up at his trainer.
"Korrina are you ready?" Serena said.
" No I'd be ready if I could just wear my normal outfit" Korrina said as she came out of a changing area in a blue dress.
"You look nice Korrina".
"I hate dressing up like this" Korrina said as she stared at herself in the mirror.
"Oh come on Korrina, you haven't even done up your hair" Serena said.
"What?! I thought the dress was bad enough!" Korrina said backing away from Serena.
"Oh come on Korrina, I just want to help you look pretty" Serena said as she took Korrina by the hand and sat her down.
"I'm not taking off my wrist blades through. I earned these." Korrina said.
"Don't worry Korrina, I'll take care of you" Serena said before she started doing Korrina's hair and makeup.
Outside the women's dressing room, the rest of the group were waiting for Serena and Korrina. Ash, Red, and Clemont were all wearing their suits.
"You know I've never seen Korrina in a dress before" Red said.
"I bet she'll look so pretty" Bonnie said. A few moments later the door opened and the girls came out.
"Guys, I give you Korrina all done up" Serena said as she moved out from in front of Korrina and revealed her. Serena had her hair done all up and make up on her face. None of them had ever seen her like that before.
"Wow, Korrina you look beautiful" Red said almost mesmerized.
"Hey" Korrina said nervously as she blushed.
"Come on lets get to the lounge area before the tournament starts" Serena said. The group made their way into the main lounge hall where dozens of other members of the chateau had gathered.
"Wow there are a lot of members" Korrina said.
"Yup the battle chateau's are a pretty prestigious things. Even Diantha became a grand duchess" Serena said.
"Reall?!" Korrina said surprised.
"That's right, we actually met her just before we met you" Red said.
"Wow" Korrina said.
"Korrina why don't you and I get aquatinted with some of these trainers. We could end up facing them. Serena said as she took Korrina's hand and pulled her through the room.
"Maybe Shauna's here! Clemont we have to find her so you can plan your wedding!" Bonnie said as she ran off looking for her.
"Bonnie no!" Clemont shouted as he ran after her.
"Will that ever get old?" Red said.
"Probably not" Ash said as Pikachu nodded.
"So with our girls out making friends and Clemont making sure Bonnie doesn't get him engaged, I guess it's just you and me for a while" Red said.
"I guess so".
"You know Ash i've been thinking. We've had plenty of practice battles against each other since be became trainers, but we've never had a real full on battle against each other like , ever" Red said.
"You know, I guess we haven't" Ash said.
"Maybe that's a good thing" Red said.
"How?".
"Well if we're both going to make it into the Kalos league, and we both want to win , then at some point we're going to have to face each other. So I figure a match as good as the two of use squaring off should be something that is saved for that end battle" Red said.
"Good point, I just hope you're ready for Pikachu and I" Ash said.
"Charizard and I are more than ready. Especially since he can mega evolve".
"Hey you can't use Mega evolution unless I have a mega evolved pokemon out!" Ash said.
"I'm just kidding Ash, I'd never do that. I just hope your Charizard is ready for mine" Red said as he and Red stared each other down.
Elsewhere Serena and Korrina were walking around looking for trainers. They saw a number of different kinds of trainers there. Including a pair wearing Navy service dress uniforms. Serena also noticed that there were many more trainers there than usual. It was a clear indication that this would be a bigger tournament. Thus giving her more chances to raise her rank.
"Wow I may have misjudged battle Chateaus. There are a lot of amazing trainers here" Korrina said.
"I've met some of the most amazing trainers at battle Chateaus" Serena said.
"Well look who's here" said an all to familiar voice. Serena cringed as she and Korrina turned around to see Sara standing behind them in her usual white dress.
"Great" Serena said.
"Uh Serena who is this?" Korrina said.
"Who am I! I am the magnificent , beautiful, and outstanding Sara of Pokemon Tech. The finest institution in the world. I am also the soulmate of Ash Ketchum" Sara said.
"What?" Korrina said very confused.
"She's just some spoiled prissy trainer who has a thing for my boyfriend" Serena said.
"So she's like your rival?".
"You could say that".
"Rival isn't the correct word. I'm her superior". When Zor
"If I remember correctly the last time we faced off against each other I was the winner" Serena said with some confidence.
"Even someone as magnificent as me has a fluke every once and a while. Now I'm more than ready and a Marchioness".
"A Machioness! How!?".
"I've been competing in plenty of tournaments while you've probably only competed in one since we last faced each other". Zorua growled at Sara.
"What is that thing?" Sara said.
"It's Zorua my newest pokemon".
"Well keep that dirty thing in its pokeball".
"You know you don't seem like a very nice person" Korrina said.
"Who are you?" Sara said win a bit of a snotty accent.
"I'm Korrina , the Shalour city gym leader and Red's girlfriend".
"Who?" Sara said.
"Red, Ash's brother".
Sara didn't respond.
"His twin brother".
"Sorry I don't know who you're talking about". Korrina and Serena both sighed and sweat dropped.
"So what is the Shalour city gym leader doing here?".
"I'm traveling with Red because you know, boyfriend. So I decided to give the battle chateau a try".
"Well it doesn't matter, you've got as much chance of beating me as Serena" Sara said before walking off.
"I really hate that girl" Serena said as her face turned Red and her fists tightened. Zorua continued growling at Sara as she left.
"She has a thing for Ash?".
"Yeah it's a long story".
"Oh come on tell me" Korrina said. Serena sighed as she started retailing the story. As another 35 minutes passed Benedict walked up onto a stage with a microphone.
"Welcome one and all to the Laverre city battle chateau tournament. The postings for the tournament are up in room c. So please go and see who you will be facing so that we may get the tournament started as soon as possible" He said.
"Alright let's see who we're facing Korrina" Serena said as she took Korrina and went over to room c. When they saw the postings, Serena saw she was going up against an Earl.
"Alright I get to face an Earl".
"Looks like I'm facing a baroness. Is that someone good".
"Not exactly" Serena said sweatdropping. Ash and Red came up behind them.
"So who's going first?" Red said.
"I am, and I get to go against an Earl" Serena said.
"I can't wait to see you match. Which room is it in?" Ash said.
"It looks like 4a" Serena said.
"Let's go!" Ash said. A few minutes later the group was in room 4a. As Ash and the other stood on the side, Ash was holding Zorua while Serena battled. Clemont walked up to them with Bonnie in his robot arm.
"So how did your hunt go?" Red said.
"Thankfully Shauna isn't here" Clemont said in relief.
"Thankfully? It's a disaster!" Bonnie said. Serena stood on one end of the battlefield with her opponent a tall red hair boy in a blue business like suit on the other end.
"The battle between Countess Serena and Earl James is about to begin" The ref said as Serena and James respectfully bowed to each other.
"Choose your pokemon".
"Go Crawdaunt" James said as a large red and blue lobster like pokemon with a star on his head.
"A Crawdaunt?" Serena said as she opened her pokedex.
"Crawdaunt, the Rogue Pokémon. Crawdaunt are short-tempered, and quick to challenge opponents to battle. It is said that no other Pokémon can live in areas inhabited by Crawdaunt."
"Alright I choose you Furfrou" Serena said as she let her Amaura out.
"Furfrou!" Furfrou shouted as he came out in front of Serena.
"Crawdaunt start off with Bubblebeam". Crawdaunt opened his claws and unleashed a barrage bubbles at Furfrou.
"Furfrou get close to him, move quickly from place to place". Furfrou quickly sprinted forward and used his agility to move from place to place. Each time he avoided a group of bubbles that came at him. James saw Furfrou getting a little too close.
"Crawdaunt use Knock off". Crawdaunt raised his claws and prepared himself to smash Furfrou.
" Slide low and use Tail whip". Just before Furfrou reached Crawdaunt, he slid down low and narrowly avoided his opponent's claws. Furfrou then smacked his tail against Crawdaunt.
"Dam, Crawdaunt Knock off he's right in front of you".
"Furfrou get back and use Tail whip". As Crawdaunt hurled his Claws forward and onto the ground, Furfrou leapt back and smacked his tail into Crawdaunt again.
"Bubblebeam!" Unfortunately for Furfrou , he was far too close to Crawdaunt and was hit by every bubble.
"Knock off". Crawdaunt quickly smashed his claws into Furfrou and hurled him back.
"Furfrou!". Furfrou landed hard on the ground.
"That's not good" Clemont said.
"Come on Serena you're still in this!" Ash shouted.
"Pika!".
"Zor!". Zorua shouted.
"Now finnish him off with Crab hammer". Crawdaunt raised his claws and prepared to smash Furfrou.
"Sand attack!". Just before Crawdaunt could bring his claw down Furfrou hurled his right paw forward and splashed a burst of sand into Crawdaunt's eyes.
"Daunt!" Crawdaunt said as he tried to get the sand out of his eyes.
"Tail whip!". Furfrou got up and whipped his tail against Crawdaunt.
"Three tail whips, time for an attack. Furfrou Gigia impact".
"Giga impact?!" Clemont said.
"Furfrou learned it two days ago during training" Ash said with a proud smile. Furfrou charged forward glowing green.
"Crawdaunt move!". Just before Crawdaunt could get the sand out of his eyes , Furfrou smashed into Crawdaunt, hurling him back and across the battlefield. Because he had been hit with three tail whips, Crawdaunt's defenses were incredibly low when he was hit.
"Crawdaunt!".
"Craw" Crawdaunt said before loosing consciousness.
"Crawdaunt is unable to battle, the winner is Countess Serena" The ref said.
"Outstanding Furfrou!" Serena shouted before Furfrou ran back to her and licked her cheek.
"Alright Serena!" Ash said.
"Pika!".
"Zor!" Zorua said just as excited watching his trainer win. James returned his Crawdaunt and sighed before giving Serena another respectful bow. Serena returned his bow and then walked over to the others.
"Great work Serena" Ash said.
"Thanks Ash, I'm glad Furfrou got the chance to use Giga impact".
"If that's what you call a win then you're in bad shape" A familiar voice said. The group turned to see Sara standing behind them.
"What are you doing here?" Serena said.
"I came to see your pathetic excuse of a win. I already won my first match, and in a much better fashion" Sara said.
"Well just you wait until we battle" Serena said tightening her fist.
"Oh one of us will learn something" Sara said before walking off.
"Now I'm excited for my battle" Korrina said.
"We should get over there it will be starting soon" Serena said.
"Right" Korrina said before the group made their way over to room 5b. In the room Korrina stood against a young woman in a yellow dress.
"The battle between Baroness Sophia and new member Korrina is about to begin" The ref said. Both trainers gave a respectful bow.
"Choose your pokemon".
"Go Litleo" Sophia said as a small Litleo came out.
"I choose you, Lucario!". Korrina's Lucario came out and took an offensive stance.
"Begin".
"Go Korrina! Lucario!" Red shouted.
"Litleo use Ember".
"Bone Rush!" Lucario formed a bone shaped club of aura and sprinted forward. Lucario used the aura club to block each incoming burst of fire then smashed it right into Litleo. Hurling him across the room.
"Litleo!".
"Leo" Litleo said with swirly eyes.
"Litleo is unable to battle. The winner is new member Korrina" The ref said.
"Well, that was easy" Korrina said sweatdropping as Lucario did the same.
"It only took her one move" Clemont said sweat dropping.
"Keep it mind her opponent was a baroness" Red said.
"True". As the tournament progressed Serena and Korrina both won their next three matches. Serena bested another Earl, a Countess, and even a Marchioness. Though it was a close battle. Serena had narrowly won when her Amaura was able to deliver one final blast to a Machoke with Aurora beam.
Since Korrina was still a new member she was put against many less experienced trainers, 2 barons and a viscount. All whom she easily defeated. After winning her 4th match, Korrina and the others quickly went over to check the postings for the next round. Serena saw that she was up against none other than Sara.
"Looks like I get my chance to face her again" Serena said.
"You've got this Serena, you've beaten her before" Clemont said.
"Just remember to keep your personal feelings out of your head when battling" Ash said. A few minutes later Serena was in room 2a standing on one end of the battlefield with Sara on the other.
"The battle between Countess Serena and Marchioness is about to begin".
Serena gave her respectful bow and Sara did the same. When Serena looked up she saw Sara give a disrespectful gesture without the ref seeing. Serena tightened her fist, but then took a deep breath.
She remembered what Ash told her about keeping her personal feelings out of her head. She couldn't let her anger affect how she battled.
"I choose you Delphox!". Delphox came out and took a battle stance.
" Zor!" Zorua said excited to see Delphox again. Not a moment later Ash's Charizard came out.
"Graww" Charizard said. When Zorua heard what he said Zorua got a little jealous.
"Time to win, go Greninja". A large blue pokemon that looked similar to Frogadier only bigger with a red scarf on its neck.
"What is that?" Serena said.
"Greeninja the evolved form of Frogadier. It creates throwing stars out of compressed water. When it spins them and throws them at high speed, these stars can split metal in two.".
"That's not good, Delphox is at a serious disadvantage" Clemont said.
"She can still do it, type advantages don't mean everything" Ash said.
"Pika".
"Alright Delphox Start off with Fire spin". Delphox whipped out her Wand and unleashed a spinning torrent of fire around Greninja.
"Greninja Water pulse into Night Slash". Greninja formed a sphere of water in his palms and blasted it into the ground. Water was sent everywhere extinguishing the fire. As soon as the steam cleared Greninja leapt up and over Delphox.
"Psychic around you" Just before Greninja landed, Delphox smashed the top of her wand into the ground as her eyes glowed red. A wave of telekinetic energy came around Delphox and knocked Greninja back a little as he landed. Though the attack itself did little damage to Greninja.
"Fire blast!".
"Hydropump!". Delphox raised her wand and unleashed a symbol shaped burst of fire at the same time Greninja regained his footing and unleashed a massive jet of water right at Delphox. The Hydro pump went right through fire blast and smashed into Delphox's chest.
"Delphox!" Serena shouted as Delphox was hurled back.
"Graw!" Charizard growled.
"Zor!". When Charizard heard Zorua he turned over to him. Zorua quickly turned away.
"Night Slash". Greninja leapt up and over towards Delphox with his arms glowing black.
"Delphox quickly use Fire Blast then get up!" Delphox hurled her wand forward and unleashed a symbol shaped burst of fire. The fire hit Greninja and did little damage. It did, however, knock him off balance and allowed Delphox to get up and move back.
"Psychic!" Delphox's eyes glowed red as she blasted Greninja with Psychic. Unfortunately, the attacks still had little effect on Greninja.
"Feint attack!". Greninja moved like a shadow behind Delphox and struck her with the Dark attack.
"Not again" Serena said.
"This isn't good, Serena and Delphox are battling well. But none of her attacks are inflicting a lot of damage" Red said.
"Come on Serena you can't give up now!" Ash shouted.
"Graww!".
"What are we going to do? We're landing our attacks, but I don't think Delphox knows any moves that aren't weak against Greninja". That was when Serena remembered her strategy in her first battle .
" Greninja use Feint attack". Greninja tried to come up from behind Delphox.
"Sand attack all around you!". Delphox splashed sand on the ground and then used Psychic to blast the sand all around her. Just as Greninja came in , the Sand attack went into his eyes.
"Ja!" He said as it got difficult to see.
"Delphox behind you! Tail whip!" Delphox quickly moved to the side and smacked her tail into Greninja's face.
"You think that pathetic strategy will work. Ha! Greinja use smokescreen". Greninja formed a ball of black smoke in his hand then smashed it into the ground, covering the battlefield in smoke. Delphox quickly tried to be vigilant for Greninja.
"Hydro pump".
"Delphox use Psychic all around you!" Delphox's eyes glowed red as she unleashed telekinetic energy around her. Moments later a powerful jet of water smashed against the psychic energy. Psychic managed to keep the water away from Delphox.
"Great now follow the water!" Delphox slowly moved forward using her psychic energy to keep the water and smoke away.
"Using Psychic energy to keep the water away, brilliant" Ash said.
"Sand attack and Tail whip!". When Delphox saw Greninja she used her Psychic to stop his Hydrop pump and then splashed more sand into his eyes.
"Ja!" Greninja said as he tried to whip the sand out of his eyes. Delphox then smacked her tail against Greninja across the face with her tail. Lowering his defenses again.
"Water pulse!".
"Dodge and use Psychic!". Greninja formed a sphere of water in his hand and tried to blast Delphox, but with the sand in his eyes he could hardly see. Delphox quickly moved out of Greninja's way and then blasted him across the room with a wave of telekinetic energy.
"Ja!" Greninja said as he slammed into the ground hard.
"Alright Delphox!" Serena shouted.
"She's got it!" Ash said.
"Pika!".
"Zor!".
"Graww!".
"Dam it! I can't loose to her! Come on Greninja you're strong against Delphox!". When Greninja hit the ground, the water pulse in his hand burst and covered him in water. Greninja got up with his eyes cleaned of sand.
"Wait his eyes are clear" Sara said with a smile.
"Hydro pump!". Greninja got up and blasted a massive jet of water at Delphox.
"Delphox use Psychic". Delphox's eyes glowed red as she covered herself in psychic energy and moved closer to Greninja as the water bounced off the telekinetic energy. Delphox slowly got closer to Greninja and prepared to use Sand attack.
"Sand attack!".
"Feint attack!" Just before Delphox could splash sand into Greninja's face, Greninja moved like a shadow behind Delphox and struck her in the back with dark energy.
"Oh no Delphox!" Serena said as Delphox fell onto the ground.
"Water pulse!" Delphox turned around just in time to see Greninja blast her with a sphere of water.
"Phox!" Delphox shouted before being knocked unconscious.
"Delphox is unable to battle. The winner is Greninja and Marchioness Sara".
"Ha ha! I am the superior trainer!" Sara shouted.
"No, we lost" Serena said as she almost fell to her knees.
"Oh no" Clemont said.
"Well we all lose at some point" Red said. Charizard gave a sad growl as Zorua also gave a very sad expression. Serena slowly walked over to to Delphox and helped her up.
"I'm sorry Delphox, you were amazing out there. I couldn't have asked you to do any better than you did". Delphox tried to lift her spirits as she got up and Serena returned her to her pokeball. Serena walked over to the group as Ash stepped forward.
"Serena it's alright, we all lose matches once and a while. It just means you're human" Ash said.
"He's right, don't get too down. Learn from this and get stronger" Korrina said.
"Zor!" Zorua said. Serena saw the happiness in Zorua's expression and couldn't help but feel her own spirits get lifted.
"You guys are right, I've lost before. I can get past this" Serena said as she hugged Ash.
"Well it seems that my superiority has been proved now" Sara said as she came up behind Serena. Serena did her best to try and ignore Sara.
"You know what, I lost. I can accept that, I get stronger as a trainer weather I win or loose. Experience is always what matters, not just winning" Serena said.
"Ha! Only a weak looser like you would think that you get anything out of loosing. This is proof that you belong with me Ash" Sara said. Ash and Zorua were now very mad. That was when Zorua had an idea.
"Zor" Zorua said to Ash.
"Huh".
"Zorua" Zorua said pointing his head to Sara and then to him. It took Ash a second, but he figured out what Zorua was suggesting. He smiled as Sara walked off.
"Hey Serena I think I know what might lift your spirits" Ash said. Sara was walking down a hallway alone when she saw Ash in front of her.
"Ash?" Sara said.
"Hey Sara I've been thinking, you were right. I shouldn't be with a weak looser like Serena. I should be with someone like you".
"Oh Ash I knew you'd come to your sense". Sara said before she came forward and kissed him. When she withdrew she heard laughing coming from behind her. Sara turned around to see Serena behind her with a very satisfied expression on her face.
"You? What are you doing here and what's so funny? You're boyfriend just left you for me".
"Did I" Ash said as he came out and revealed himself next to Serena.
"What? Sara said as she turned back to the Ash in front of her. That Ash smiled before transforming into Zorua and began laughing.
"Ahh! I kissed a dirty rat!" Sara screamed before running off.
"Alright Ash you were right, that was very satisfying. Good boy Zorua I love you so much!" Serena said as Zorua jumped into her arms.
"I might be out, but at least Korrina has a chance to win" Serena said. Korrina continued on , beating another 2 trainers before she made it to the final match. She was facing none other than Sara.
"The battle between marchionesses Sara and new member Korrina is about to begin" The ref said before Korrina gave Sara a respectful bow and Sara gave a rude one.
"There's no way a nobody like you can beat a marchionesses like me" Sara said.
"We'll see" Korrina said.
"You got this Korrina!" Red shouted.
"Beat her!" Serena shouted with him.
"Choose your pokemon".
"Greninja". Sara's Greninja came out and stood in front of Sara.
"If we win this one we'll win the tournament and I'll be a duchess. I really need you to win!" Sara said.
"I choose you Lucario!" Korrina's Lucario came out and took a battle stance against Greninja.
"Lucario , he should have an advantage" Clemont said.
"Not to mention her Lucario's incredible skills" Red said.
"Greninja use Water pulse".
"Lucario Bone club into Power up punch". Lucario formed a bone shaped club of aura in his paws and sprinted forward as Greninja formed a sphere of water in his hand. Greninja hurled the water pulse at Lucario, but Lucario smashed the water pulse apart with his Bone club then leapt into the air as his right paw glowed red.
"Get back and use Night slash". Greninja moved back just enough to avoid Lucario as he landed right in front of him , the brought his arms back to use Night slash. Lucario, however, quickly moved forward and slammed his fist into Greninja's face, hurling him back across the battlefield.
"Great hit Lucario" Korrina said as Lucario's attack power increased.
" Alright Lucario!" Red and Serena said.
"Grrr, Greninja use Fient attack".
"Lucario get low, Metal claw and sweep your legs". As Greninja moved behind Lucario like a shadow, Lucario got low and turned his claws metal before sweeping his legs. When Lucario swept his legs he knocked Greninja off balance. Lucario then grabbed Greninja and hurled him over his body before slashing him across the face.
"Keep it up Lucario!" Korrina said.
"Alright Korrina you're doing great!" Red said.
"Dam it Greninja we have to win! Use Hydropump full power!". Greninja got up and shouted as he unleashed a colossal jet of water at Lucario.
"Lucario use Close combat with aura hands" Lucario gathered his aura as blue spheres formed around his paws. He then ran forward and put his hands out in front of him. Allowing him to push through the Hydro pump with incredible speed.
"What!? Greninja get out of there!" Sara shouted. Unfortunately for her, she was too late. Lucario burst out of the water and unleashed a furry of attacks on Greninja.
"No!" Sara shouted as her Greninja landed on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Greninja is unable to battle, the winner is new member Korrina" The ref said.
"Alright we've done it!" Korrina said as her Lucario came back and locked arms with Korrina.
"No no no no!" Sara said before returning her Greninja. A few minutes later Korrina was standing on the stage with Benedict in front of all the trainers in the main ball room.
"I present the winner of our tournament , new member Korrina" Benedict said as the crowd began clapping.
"Korrina for winning the tournament I here by make you a full member of the battle Chateau and bestow upon you the rank of viscountess" Benedict said before handing her a red medallion.
"Now we shall begin the post tournament ball" Benedict said as an orchestra began playing music. Korrina stepped down from the stage and found the others.
"Congratulations Korrina, you and Lucario were awesome" Serena said. Red put his arms around Korrina and gave her a big kiss.
"I'm so proud of you, this was your first tournament and you won" Red said.
"You guys were right, I misjudged this tournaments. They're awesome, thought I still feel the dress should be optional" Korrina said.
"Come on you look beautiful" Red said.
"Are you saying I'm not when I wear my normal cloths" Korrina said with her hands on her hips.
"No I just" Red said sweat dropping.
"I'm just kidding, come on let's dance" Korrina said as she took Red hand and pulled him into a dance.
"Well I'd say this all ended well, Korrina won and Bonnie didn't embarrass me" Clemont said.
"Uh Clemont" Serena said pointing behind him. Clemont turned to see Bonnie on one knee in front of a very pretty girl.
"Ahh! Bonnie!" Clemont shouted as he ran over towards her.
"That happens a lot, but it's still pretty funny" Serena said. Ash too her hands and they began dancing slowly across the ball room.
"It's good to see you're taking your loss so well" Ash said.
"Well i've lost before, and I've lost to her before. There's no point getting too upset about it. It's just like when you lost to Meyer. You got right back up , trained hard and won you're rematch. The same thing will happen with me" Serena said.
"That's right" Ash said before he moved his head in closer and kissed her.

Alright just so you all know I am currently working on a very, very important project for one of my classes and am about 80 percent done. However it is due right at the start of class this Thursday. Therefore writing the next chapter may take a little longer since it will be low on my priorities.
But I will do what I can.
