With the very few guests of eight—one of whom she recollected to be the owner of the alleyway store—the small banquet space was more than spacious as the newlyweds danced about the floor under dimmed yellow lights to their first slow song.
Eventually, the music picked up and the couple broke away to bring their guests to part-take in the dance. Masaki was glowing with happiness and stars in her eyes as she approached her two closest confidants. "You won't mind, would you Kanae-chan?"
Kanae smiled gently at the Kurosaki heiress. "Of course not, Masaki-sama."
"Isshin, you'll dance with Kanae-chan, won't you?" Masaki turned to her husband with her bright eyes.
Isshin laughed heartily and drew Kanae with an effortless flourish to the dance floor. He smiled broadly down to her as they twirled in circles around the edge of the space. "So, when are you two going to tie the knot?"
"We are different from you and Masaki-sama," Katagiri murmured as her eyes spied Ryuuken leading Masaki in the dance with warmth she knew was reserved only for her. She returned her eyes to the man in front of her with a stern gaze. "Make sure that you never let go of Masaki-sama or make her upset."
"Osu!" His goofy smile vanished as Isshin's expression became serious. "And you make sure that you give yourself a chance at happiness as well, little lady. Even if it means to swallow your pride, life is too short to not be happy every day."
Wordlessly, her eyes flickered over Isshin's shoulder and by chance or by fate, her brown eyes met with his blue ones. Her breath caught at the beautiful visions flickering through her mind's eye. But they disappeared as fast as they came.
"It is always easier said than done." Kanae whispered as they swapped partners and she found herself in Ryuuken's arms. It was so nostalgic to sway to the music with him so close to her.
She prayed that this feeling would never leave her, least she never have another chance in the future.
