I dressed faster that day than I'd ever dressed before. I practically ran down the stairs but had to stop when I almost fell. I found Carlisle in the living room.

"Grandpa! What happened?" I asked and I couldn't keep the nervousness from my tone.

"Calm down, Bella. Why don't you sit down," he suggested. Oh no. When some says 'sit down' its almost always bad news. Suddenly Mom and Dad were behind me. When I sat down they took a seat on either side of me and the. Esme appeared as well.

"We were there all through the night after the DNA test came back positive," Esme said.

"Yes," Carlisle continued, "They brought in a social worker and the detective that originally handled the case. I won't go through the details of our conversations but they've basically left what happens next between you and Chief Swan up to you."

"What do you mean up to me?" I asked incredulously.

He explained patiently. "If you want to be in contact with Chief Swan you can. It's your choice though he has asked to take you out to dinner this Friday. If you would like to go, I will tell him so."

Dinner? Should I want to go to dinner with him? Do I want to go to dinner with him? Maybe. On the one hand, I would like to get to know him but what if when I do it doesn't work out? It's a huge risk to take. Though, despite the risks, a large part of me wanted to do this. I looked towards my Dad.

"Do whatever you think is right for you, Bells. I'm behind you either way."

"Thanks Dad," I said, my voice full of emotion. Comforted, I turned back to Carlisle. "I want to do this."

He smiled. "Alright. I'll call him from work to let him know."

After this I attempted to eat some breakfast but after a few bites I couldn't seem to eat anymore. My stomach was in knots. So I dumped my breakfast in the trash and Edward and I set off to school.

Unfortunately, the whole town had now apparently heard that the case of Chief Swans missing daughter had been solved. You know something is a big deal when the newspaper sends out their top field reporter. For Forks though, their top field reporter was also their only field reporter and he was a stalky man somewhere in his mid twenties vigorously scrawling on a notepad.

When he tried to talk to me, Edward simply moved beside me protectively and we moved past him. Later in the day though, I saw him back on campus talking to a girl who I was pretty sure was named Jessica.

At lunch, mostly due to Edwards insistence that I eat, I managed half a slice of pizza and most of an orange.

By the time the day was finished I was already wanting to collapse back onto my bed for the night but unfortunately there was too much homework to be done for me to do that even though, Edward, to my surprise, had done last nights homework for me. When I asked why he simply said,

"It was very hard day for you and you didn't need to deal with school. Besides, you already know most of the things the school is teaching. Now, come on, lets go home and I'll help you with that English paper."

I was grateful to be spending a comfortable night in with Edward but despite his attempts to distract me, my thought still centered around Charlie and all that lied ahead. He helped me with my homework and made me a big plate of spaghetti and garlic bread. If it wasn't my favorite meal and he hadn't fixed so amazingly I would have never managed to eat even half the plate.

After that I took a shower and went to hide under my covers from the rest of the world. It wasn't but a few days full of the same routine before it was suddenly Friday and my stress level went from very stresses to somewhat of an erratic full-blown freak out happening within me. I was a nervous wreck.
