I didn't think it would take me that long to update. Super sorry. I'm keeping the chapters short because the stories almost over, but I want to have at least thirty chapters.

I hope you have wonderful holidays!

Thanks for reading (:

Chapter 27

"Are you alright?" Kurt asked Blaine. It was five in the morning, but they both found themselves wide awake since they both took naps the day before.

"Yeah, I'm just not tired anymore."

"No, I mean are you alright in general. Because of the letter your mom left. How do you feel about it?" Kurt questioned.

"I feel great, in all honestly. I'm glad that I don't have to be scared of them anymore. All of our secrets and feelings are out in the open now. If they don't like who I am, there's nothing I can do about it," Blaine answered.

Kurt gave Blaine a blank expression. "I feel like you don't believe me," Blaine implied.

"I believe that you think you're okay. But, deep down, I don't think you are. If my dad kicked me out and gave me money to stay out, I'd be distraught," Kurt stated.

"Well, you've always been close to your dad. Like, genuinely close. I, on the other hand, have always been fake-close to my dad. You know, pretending to be interested in the same things and acting as if everything's always alright. Nothing was ever alright, though. Before I moved here, everything in my life meant absolutely nothing. Everything seemed pointless…until I met you. I know that's cheesy, but it's true. I don't care about my parents or my old school or anyone except you and our friends," Blaine confessed.

Kurt leaned in and placed a sweet kiss on Blaine's pink lips.

"Plus, I'm getting paid stay out of a house that I never wanted to be in anyway," Blaine half-joked.

"Very true," Kurt responded. They lied in bed until their alarms went off.

They got up slowly to get ready. Kurt was back into his normal clothes. He wore black skinny jeans, that gave the appearance of leather but weren't actually, and a gray shirt with a front pocket that was black. He also sported the necklace that Blaine gave him for Christmas. He thought about tucking it into his shirt, but he wanted Blaine to see him wearing it.

Kurt and Blaine tried to get ready separately. They didn't even brush their teeth together. Blaine felt a little weird to be going out of his way to not have the same schedule as his boyfriend, but he figured it was for the best. They ended up eating breakfast together, though. Kurt wanted Blaine to feel at home, so he poured his own bowl of cereal, then put the box back into the cabinet, forcing Blaine to walk to the cabinet and pick out his own cereal. Instead, he chose a pop tart and threw it into the microwave. Kurt was proud. It was silly to be proud over a small decision, he realized, but it meant that Blaine was beginning to get more comfortable. Kurt did not want to spend the next seven months acting as a host.

Burt sat at the table as the boys ate. "I'll pick you two up after glee club today," he told them.

"Cool, thanks, Dad," Kurt said back. They were both very excited for the first glee meeting of the new year. They'd been practicing a duet all of break.

On the way to the bus stop, they held hands. Blaine felt a lot more comfortable with PDA since he came out to his parents. He figured no one could react worse than they did.

"We're definitely singing Shake It Off at glee today?" Kurt asked Blaine as they got onto the bus.

"Yeah, I think we've rehearsed it enough," Blaine answered. They sat across from Mercedes as usual.

"Ooh, rehearsed what?" she asked nosily.

"You'll see," Blaine answered quickly. Mercedes rolled her eyes.

To Kurt, the school day could not go any slower. He was constantly thinking about Blaine, wondering if he really was okay with everything that was going on. It was hard to tell what Blaine was thinking about the situation with his parents because he could not imagine ever being in the same situation. He couldn't put himself into Blaine's shoes. He wondered if having no relationship with your parents was better than having a bad one.

At lunch, Kurt studied Blaine. He was watching his every move through the corner of his eye. Blaine noticed, but he didn't mind. When he got up to throw out his trash, Kurt followed. At the garbage cans, Blaine said, "You know, you're a very protective boyfriend." Kurt blushed. He didn't know how obvious he was being. "It's very sweet," Blaine assured him.

"I just want to make sure you're okay, Blaine," Kurt explained.

"I know. And, I am. I am okay. I do appreciate you watching out for me so closely, though. It's endearing," Blaine insisted.

They walked back to the table, standing very closely. Anyone who looked at them could never tell if they were holding hands or not because they were so close to each other. Blaine noticed that every day, less and less people stared. The news of their relationship had mostly died down, and nobody really cared anymore. No one picked on Kurt, either, because everyone was scared of Blaine. They both felt ten times safer with each other than when they are apart.

At the end of the school day, Kurt met Blaine at his locker. Once Blaine was finished, Kurt began to walk toward Tina's locker, but Blaine pulled him in a different direction.

"Where are we going?" Kurt asked.

Blaine tugged on Kurt's hand and ignored his question as he pulled him into the bathroom. "Do you need to go?" Kurt asked, clearly confused.

Making sure no one was in there, Blaine threw himself onto Kurt. Their lips touched and instantly Kurt felt warm. He put his hand to Blaine's neck, holding onto his hair – which was looser now because Kurt started hiding Blaine's gel. Blaine placed his hand gently on Kurt's hip, drawing him closer. In between kisses, Blaine whispered, "I just wanted to feel you close to me."

Kurt's phone vibrated in his pocket, and it was hard for him to separate his mouth from Blaine's to read the text.

"Tina wants to know where we are, glee starts in a minute," Kurt said.

Blaine sighed. "I guess we should go."

Right as they walked out, Tina and Mercedes just happened to be passing, with Artie right behind them.

"Up to old habits, I see," Mercedes joked. Kurt awkwardly smiled at her. He felt like he should be embarrassed, but he wasn't. He didn't care anymore. He grabbed Blaine's hand, despite both of their palms being sweaty.

The five of them strolled in glee club right on time, and Brittany came in shortly after them. Everyone else was already there.

"I have a new song that I'd like you guys to try out, but first, Kurt and Blaine have the floor!" Mr. Schuester announced.

"Thanks, Mr. Schue," Blaine said politely.

"This is a song that has been our anthem for the past month. It really expresses how we feel about certain people who haven't treated us right in the past," Kurt explained before they started the song.

The band began playing Taylor Swift's Shake It Off. Kurt began to sing first while Blaine joined him at the chorus of the song. They danced through the choir room and sang with energy.

"And to the fellow over there…"

Kurt points and walks toward Blaine.

"With the hella good hair…"

He runs his fingers through Blaine's hair.

"Why don't you come on over baby…"

He pulled Blaine by his shirt.

"We can shake, shake, shake,"

Kurt sang with his face incredibly close to Blaine's. He showed confidence in this song.

At the end of the number, everyone clapped. "Taylor Swift songs are clearly your strong suit," Mr. Schuester commented with a chuckle. Blaine smiled.

They took their seats, Mercedes on the left of Blaine and Tina on the right of Kurt. Then, Mr. Schuester passed out new sheet music.

As Kurt handed Tina a copy, her eyes lingered at his hands before she focused enough to grab the paper. Kurt thought it was strange.

"You okay, Tina?" he asked.

"Yeah, are you?" she said back.

"Um, yeah."

She made it appoint to look forward and pay attention to Schuester. She didn't try to look at Kurt anymore. When Mr. Schue announced a break time, Tina quickly shot up and said, "Mercedes will you come to the bathroom with me?"

"Yeah, sure," Mercedes answered. They walked out of the room and Tina turned to her.

"Oh, my God," she started.

"What?!"

"I was grabbing the sheet music from Kurt…"

"Yeah?"

"And I saw a bunch of scars on his wrists," she whispered dramatically. Mercedes's mouth dropped.

"Shouldn't we tell someone?" she asked Tina.

"No, we should talk to him first," Tina argued.

"Wait, are you sure? Kurt seems like a really strong person. Do you really think that's what you saw? Maybe it was just marks from leaning on his spiral notebook," Mercedes suggested.

"They we too long to just be marks. And there were too many of them for it to just be accidents. Mercedes, I'm worried," Tina exclaimed.

"Okay, how about this. We let it go for a few days and keep monitoring him to see if any new marks appear. We'll ask him to hang out on Saturday and we'll talk to him about it then. Because we can't bring it up in school. It might upset him," Mercedes offered.

Tina sighed. "Okay, I guess that'll work."

"And, think about this. He lives with Blaine now. Blaine will obviously protect him. He wouldn't let Kurt do that to himself. And, Kurt might not even want to anymore now that he has Blaine. We don't know how long those scars have been there. Kurt and Blaine love each other a lot, so I think they can get through this," Mercedes reminded Tina.

"Yeah, that's true. They really do love each other."
