Ch 73: The victory tournament.
It was late at night in the Kalos league village and Ash was going through his pokeballs trying to decide who he should use.
Sitting beside him was Pikachu and Serena. Serena could feel how nervous Ash was through their connection and saw how nervous Pikachu looked.
"Alright should I use Charizard, or maybe Lucario." Ash said.
"Ash try to calm yourself. You'll think better if you're relaxed." Serena said as she put her hand on his.
""Sigh" I guess you're right. But we made it into the victory tournament. We have a real chance of winning the pokemon league. I don't want to let my pokemon down because I made the wrong decision."Ash said.
Serena could understand why Ash was so nervous. It was the same feeling that she had felt after she made it far into the grand festival.
"Don't forget Ash, it's like you told me. You've made it this far into the Kalos league. Think about how many people who haven't made it as far as you have." Serena said.
Ash realized Serena was right. He was a skilled trainer, he had to be to have made it as far as he had. He knew what he was doing and would make the right choices in the battles to come.
"Thanks Serena, you're right." Ash said before he moved his head in and gave her a short kiss.
"Good, now come on. We should get some sleep, you're going to need it for tomorrow." Serena said. Ash got up as Pikachu climbed onto his shoulder.
In the other condo Red was sitting on his bed with a lot of his mind. At first he had been very excited to be in the victory tournament. Now he was nervous about the fact that he would be facing the best trainers in the Kalos league.
Korrina came out of the bathroom in her pajamas. She saw Red sitting on the best and could see how nervous he was.
"Feeling a bit nervous are we?" Korrina asked as she walked over.
"You could say that. " Red said. Korrina sat beside Red and put her arm around his shoulder.
"Why would one of the two hero's of Kalos be afraid of a few pokemon battles?" Korrina said.
Red smiled a little.
"You know this has been my dream for a long time. Now I actually have a chance of winning. It's a lot of pressure, not to mention the fear of letting my pokemon down." Red said.
"Red, you've made it this far you have nothing to be ashamed of if you don't win. You've already proven yourself an ace trainer multiple times. " Korrina said.
"I suppose you're right . We have made it this far, and I am proud of it." Red said.
"Good, now you should get some sleep before tomorrow." Korrina said before she gave Red a short kiss.
The next morning Ash and the other were in the registration building anxiously waiting for the listings of the first round of the victory tournament.
"This is exciting I can't wait to see you boys in the main stadium." Delia said.
"I wonder who we'll be facing off against first?" Red asked.
"I've been wondering the same thing." A familiar voice said. Ash and the others saw Trent and Jason behind them.
"Trent." Ash said.
"I see you and Red made it to the victory tournament, congratulations." Trent said.
"Thanks, congrats to you too." Red said as he noticed Jason give a disdained look away from them.
"The listings should come up soon and I can't wait to see who I'm facing." Trent said.
"Attention trainers, the listings for the victory tournament are now up." A woman said over the intercom.
" Alright let's see who we're facing!" Ash said.
"Yeah!" Trent said. They both rushed over to the counter and asked for their opponents.
"Trent Pheonix, and Ash Ketchum. Alright give me a moment, yes here are your opponents for round one of the victory tournament." The woman said. Ash and Trent quickly turned to the screen where they saw that their opponents.
Right beside Ash's picture was none other than Trent's , and beside Trent's was Ash's.
"Well look at that, you two are facing each other." The woman said.
"Oh." Ash and Trent said as they both sweat dropped and turned to each other.
"Well, at least we know if we'll be facing strong opponents." Trent said.
"Come on Red find out who you're facing." Korrina said. Red walked up to the counter and gave the woman his ID.
"Alright Red, here is your opponent." The woman said. Red looked up at the screen and saw his opponent was a Raiko.
"So his name's Raiko." Red said.
"Wait it's that guy we ran into at the condo." Ash said.
"Yeah it is." Serena said.
"Well he has to be good to have made it this far." Red said.
"The victory tournament starts off at 1:00. Make sure you're there." The woman said.
"Alright, I can't wait." Red said. Later at 1:00 Serena and the others were sitting inside the main stadium as the lights shined on the center.
"Will there be another opening ceremony?" Bonnie asked.
"Yes, but probably not as big as the main one." Korrina said. The lights moved towards a door as Diantha walked out with over a dozen trainers behind her.
"Do you guys see Ash or Red!?" Serena asked.
"No but I see that Trent." Alexa said. Moments later another light shined on another door as none other than Daniel Rian walk in with another few dozen trainers behind him.
"Look it's Them!" Serena shouted as she saw Ash and Red walking right up behind Daniel.
When Diantha and Daniel reached the center the trainers formed up around them and faced the audience.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Several days ago we began the Kalos league with hundreds of trainers in the tournament. Now the trainers who stand before you are all that remain." Diantha said as the crowd let out a loud applause.
"Now each of them will battle here in the main stadium and one will win the Kalos league in a mere 10 rounds." Daniel said.
"Ten round? Geez this could be a while." Serena said.
Two hours later Ash stood in one of the entrance tunnels to the main stadium with Pikachu on his shoulder. He took a deep breath before walking out into the field. The crowd let out a very loud applause as he and Trent took the field.
Unlike in the other stadiums where they stood on platforms over the field, in the main stadium they stayed on the ground.
"This is it, his first match in the main stadium!" Serena said very excited.
"Trent won't be an easy trainer to beat. He made the top 8 in Sinnoh and he's an aura guardian." Red said.
"The first round of the victory tournament between trainer Ash Ketchum and Trent Pheonix is about to begin." The announcer said.
"Trainers, be advised. For the first round of the victory tournament you are allowed 4 pokemon instead of 3." The ref said.
"Four pokemon, this should be interesting." Trent said.
"Alright this is it, I know we can do this. I choose you Totodile!" Ash shouted. His Totodile came out and danced around on the battlefield.
"Totodile huh, alright Go Ferrothorn !" A spiked grass type pokemon came out and held his arms up.
"Trainer Ash Ketchum has chosen a Totodile and trainer Trent Pheonix has chosen a Ferrothorn ." The announcer said.
"Let us begin, Ferrothorn use spikes." Ferrothorn raised arms and unleashed a furry of spikes into the air around around them.
"Totodile Water gun into Ice Fang!". Totodile quickly sprinted across the field while blasting the ground in front of him with water , forcing the spikes to be moved out of the way.
"So Totodile's using water to move the spikes. Let's restrain him, Thunder wave." Ferrothorn unleashed a powerful electric surge that hit the water gun and surged into Totodile, paralyzing him.
"Totodile!" Ash shouted.
Totodile stumbled backwards and landed on some spikes as the electricity kept him in place.
"Perfect now use Leech Seed."
"Totodile quick use Watergun to force it away!" Ash shouted. Totodile slowly raised his head as Ferrothorn launched a leech seed towards him. Totodile tried to unleashed Watergun, but is paralysis kept him from doing so.
The leech seed hit Totodile and sprouted , entangling around him and sapping his energy.
"Totodile!" Ash shouted.
"Geez, Trent is good. He's taken crontrol of this match." Red said.
"Come on Totodile, you can't give up now!" Serena shouted.
"Gyro ball." Trent said. Ferrothorn raised his arms and began spinning as he flew at Totodile.
"Come on Totodile you have to break free." Ash said. Totodile tried to get up, but the leech seed and paralyze kept sapping his energy. Ash grit his teeth as he saw Ferrothorn get closer to him.
"Come on Totodile never give up until the end!" Ash said via aura message. Totodile opened his eyes and used every bit of energy he had left. He recovered from the paralyze and broke out of the leech seed.
"Alright duck under him and use Aqua tail!" Ash shouted. Just before Ferrothorn could reach him, Totodile got down low and slid right under him.
"Huh?" Trent said. Totodile came from behind and smashed his now water covered tail into Ferrothorn's back. The attack didn't do much damage, but the force did knock Ferrothorn forward and onto the ground.
"Now use Ice fang!" Ash shouted.
"Spikes!". Just before Totodile could come in with ice fang. Ferrothorn turned around and unleashed a barrage of spikes that hit Totodile across his body and distracted him long enough for Ferrothorn to move out of the way.
"Now use Leech seed!".
"Water gun!" Ash shouted. As Ferrothorn unleashed a seed, Totodile opened his mouth and blasted the incoming seed with water. As a result , Ferrothorn was hit with the watergun and the leech seed.
"Oh no!" Trent shouted as the leech seed sprouted around its own user.
"Alright now Ash has turned it around!". Serena shouted.
"Ice fang!" Ash shouted. Totodile leapt forward and snapped his icy jaws around Ferrothorn.
After Totodile let go, Ferrothorn hit the ground with swirly eyes.
"Ferrothorn is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright we got one!" Ash shouted.
"Dile!" Totodile said happily as he danced around. Moments later Totodile stopped as he felt great pain all around his mouth.
"Dile!" He grunted as the pain continued.
"What? Wait , Ferrothorn has iron barbs. That means Ice fang damaged him too." Ash said.
"Ferrothorn return, you battled very well Ferrothorn. Alright Ash, I knew defeating you wouldn't be easy. Time to take you down, Go Salamence !" Trent shouted as the massive blue dragon came out.
"Another Salamence, geez first two Metagross now two Salamence. Uhh, well Ice fang could still have a big effect. If we can reach him."
"Salamence use Dragon pulse." The massive dragon flew up and unleashed the wave of dragon energy at Totodile.
"Toddle dodge it!" Ash shouted.
"Dragon Dragon Meteor!". Totodile dove out of the Dragon pulse's way as Salamence opened his mouth again and unleashed a ball of dragon energy that burst into a shower of dragon energy.
"Look out!" Ash shouted. Totodile raised his head just in time to see two of the meteorites impact him.
"Totodile!" Ash shouted. When the smoke cleared Totodile was on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Totodile is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Well looks like they're evened out again." Red said.
"Come on Ash!" Serena shouted.
"Totodile return, you battled like a champion. Alright I choose you Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted. Ash's massive dinosaur pokemon came out and roared at Salamence.
"Alright Salamence use Dragon pulse!".
"Dragon claw and absorb it!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum held his now closing claws in front of him as the dragon pulse nearly hit his chest. However, he was able to absorb the energy with his own dragon energy as it crashed against him.
"Draco Meteor!".
"Dragon tail, knock them back!" Ash shouted. As Salamence unleashed a powerful draco meteor, Tyrantrum turned his tail violet. As the meteorites fell towards him, Tyrantrum used his tail to knock them away from him.
"Dragon claw!" Salamence used his own dragon claws to slash apart any meteorites that came at him.
"Salamanca come in close and use Dragon claw.".
"Tyrantrum use Stone edge!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum unleashed a thick furry of spiked rocks.
"Dragon pulse!". Salamence opened his mouth and blasted each of the rocks into pebbles.
"Dragon tail!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum met Salamence's claws with his own tail forcing them both back and away from each other.
"It seems both these dragons are an equal match for each other." The announcer said.
"Neither can gain the advantage." Red said.
"Come on Tyrantrum, you can beat him!" Serena shouted.
" Salamence Draco Meteor." Salamence opened his mouth and unleashed a storm of meteorites at Tyrantrum.
"Dragon tail!" Ash shouted.
"Dragon claw!" . Tyrantrum smashed each meteorite away as Salamence came in close with his claws raised.
Tyrantrum turned his head just in time to see Salamence.
"Dragon claw!" Ash shouted. The two Dragon's slashed each other at the same time. Salamence slammed into the ground with his eyes swirly.
"Salamence is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright we got him!" Ash shouted. Not a moment later, Tyrantrum fell to the ground and didn't get back up.
"Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted.
"Pika!".
"Grouu." Tyrantrum groaned.
"Tyrantrum is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Astounding folks, both pokemon have been knocked out." The announcer said.
"Salamence return, I'm very proud of you." Trent said.
"Tyrantrum return, you were amazing out there." Ash said.
"Let's go Magmortar !" Trent shouted as he let out the large fire bird pokemon.
"I choose you Mightyena!" Ash shouted as Mightyena came out and growled.
"Let us begin. Magmortar use Flamethrower!".
"Mightyena dodge and use Crunch!". Magmortar raised his right arm and unleashed a jet of fire right at Mightyena.
Mightyena ducked down under the fire before sprinting right at Magmortar. The massive fire bird engulfed the ground in front of him with fire.
"Leap up and over!" Ash shouted. Mightyena using her speed and agility, leapt up and over the fire, rolling across the ground.
"Thunderbolt all around you!". Magmortar sparked electricity around his arms. Just before Mightyena could reach Magmortar. The fire bird unleashed the electricity around him rather than in a bolt.
Mightyena was hit with electricity and hurled back right into the fire.
"Mightyena!" Ash shouted.
"Nice work Magmortar ." Trent said.
"That's not good." Red said.
"Come on Mightyena keep fighting!" Serena shouted.
"Don't give her time to recover. Flame body!". Magmortar covered himself in fire before sprinting right at Mightyena.
"Roar!" Ash shouted. Mightyena opened her mouth as she leapt out of the fire and roared so loud it hurled Magmortar back a few feet.
"Take down!" Ash shouted. Mighteyna sprinted forward as Magmortar slowly raised his head.
"Stop him with confuse ray." Magmortar's eyes glowed red as he stared at Mightyena.
"Mightyena close your eyes!" Ash shouted. Mightyena closed her eyes and felt Ash's aura guiding her towards Magmortar . Mightyena leapt forward and slammed into Magmortar's upper body.
"Aura, dam. I should have seen that coming." Trent said.
Magmortar got up and stared at Mightyena.
"Magmortar use Flamethrower." Magmortar raised both his arms and lit up the area around Mightyena with fire.
"Keep him contained!". Magmortar blasted the entire battlefield with fire.
"Thunderbolt!". Magmortar sparked electricity on his arms before unleashing it in sparks around the fire.
Mightyena wanted to dodge, but the fire made it to difficult to even see the electricity. Moments later it hit Mightyena and forced her back out and through the fire.
" Flamethrower!" Trent shouted. Magmortar raised both his arms and blasted Mightyena with 2 jets of fire.
"Mightyena!" Ash shouted. When the fires died down, Mightyena was on the ground unconscious.
"Mightyena is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Looks like it all comes down to one final pokemon." Felix said.
"Come on Ash you can do this!" Serena shouted.
"Alright we can do this. I choose you Lucario!" Ash shouted. His Lucario did a front flip as he came out of his pokeball and landed in front of Ash.
"Flame body!" Trent shouted. Magmortar covered himself in fire before sprinting at Lucario.
"Stone edge!" Ash shouted. Lucario smashed his palms into the ground before leaping up and over Magmortar.
"Look out!" Trent shouted before Lucario pelted his opponent with spiked rocks. After Lucario landed behind his opponent, Magmortar fell to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Magmortar is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Yes he evened it up again!" Serena shouted.
"Magmortar Ash, I'm more than impressed with your skills. But I don't plan on loosing today. Go Abamosnow!" Trent shouted. The massive grass snow pokemon came out of his pokeball and towered over his trainer.
He turned to Ash and roared as he raised his arms above his head.
"Trainer Trent Pheonix has chosen his Abomasnow as his last pokemon and trainer Ash Ketchum has his Lucario. We haven't seen him use this pokemon before this match though." The announcer said.
"Good thing still I have my trump card." Trent said he revealed his hidden blade holder and a mega evolution stone on it. After touching it, Abomosnow began to grow bigger as a colorful sphere formed around him.
When the sphere vanished sprouts on Abomasnow's back had grew into great shafts of ice . His fur became longer and shaggy over his entire body, particularly around his head. Green fur or sprout remnants surrounded the base of the large icicles on his back, while white fur covered the middle.
"Amazing folks, we've now seen another one of these evolutions!" The ref said.
"Mega Abomasnow, well it's a good thing I chose Lucario." Ash said as he touched the stone on his hidden blade holder. Moments later a colorful sphere formed around him as he grew larger.
When the sphere vanished Lucario was in his mega form.
"Grouu!" He roared.
"Another one folks! This should be an amazing match!" The announcer shouted.
"Mega Lucario, so you have must have two Mega pokemon then. Charizard and Lucario. This should be very interesting. Abomasnow use Ice shard!". The Mega Abomasnow opened his mouth and unleashed a furry of sharp ice shards at Mega Lucario.
"Lucario use Aura sphere into Power up punch!" Ash shouted. Mega Lucario formed a large sphere of aura in his paws before unleashing it right at Abomasnow. The Aura sphere tore through all of the incoming ice shards.
"Ice punch!" Trent shouted. Mega Abomasnow covered his first in ice before smashing it into the incoming Aura sphere , dissipating it back into back into simple aura.
Moments later Mega Lucario leapt up with his first raised as he came down at Abomasnow .
"Catch his punch!" Trent shouted. Just before Mega Lucario could punch Mega Abomasnow , Abomasnow hurled his left arm inside Lucario's arm effectively blocking the strike.
Before Lucario could do anything else, Abomasnow did the same to his other arm.
"He's got both his arms now." Clemont said.
"Lucario kick him!" Ash shouted. Mega Lucario leapt up before delivering a powerful powerful kick to Abomasnow's face.
"Snow." Abomasnow grunted before he stumbled backwards.
"Now Power up Punch!" Ash shouted. Lucrario leapt up and smashed his fist into Abomasnow 's face.
"Alright he got him!" Serena shouted.
"Dam, he's agile. Then again I should expect nothing less from Ash or a Mega Lucario. Abomasnow use a relentless Wood hammer!" Trent shouted.
"Lucario defend yourself with Metal claw!". Abomasnow raised his now wooden claws as he hurled them at Lucario relentlessly. Each time Abomasnow tried to strike him, Lucario used his own claws to either knock Abomasnow's strike away or block it.
"Grab his wrists!" Trent shouted. Abomasnow snatched Lucario's wrists and held him in place.
Ash grit his teeth, he knew that Lucario couldn't kick Abomasnow like last time. He was to far from Abomasnow and it was unlikely that Abomasnow would let him get close enough.
"Ice shard into Ice punch!". Abomasnow opened his mouth and barraged Lucario with shards of ice at very close range. Lucario grit his teeth as the ice raked across his body. Moments later , Abomasnow threw Lucario back and smashed his ice covered first right into his opponent's face.
"Follow up with Wood hammer!". Abomasnow came up and raised his arms.
"Over him!" Ash shouted. Lucario leapt up and wrapped his legs around Abomasnow 's head. Lucario used the force of his leapt to hurl Abomasnow onto his back.
"Wood hammer above you're head!". Abomasnow hurled both his hands together towards Lucario.
Mega Lucario leapt off and away from Abomasnow as his hands met each other. The massive ice-grass pokemon got up and faced Lucario again.
"Lucario use Aura sphere!". Lucario held his paws together and formed a large sphere of aura in his hands before hurling it at Abomasnow.
"Abomasnow Ice punch!".
"Lucario another Power up Punch!" Ash shouted. Lucario sprinted forward as Abomasnow stepped forward and smashed the aura sphere back into simple aura.
"Get ready!" Trent shouted. Abomasnow raised his arms ready to catch or block Lucario's strike.
"Now under him!" Ash shouted. Lucario slid across the ground rather than leaping up, and went right between Abomasnow's legs.
"Huh?" Trent said. Lucario smashed his fists into Abomasnow's legs, forcing Abomasnow onto the ground.
"Now Close combat!". Abomasnow got up and faced Lucario just in time to see Lucario smashed his fists into his face and body relentlessly.
"Abomasnow !" Trent shouted. When Lucario was finished, Abomasnow fell down and landed on his back with swirly eyes before reverting to his normal form.
"Abomasnow is unable to battle, the winner is trainer Ash Ketchum." The ref said.
"It's over folks we have our winner!" The announcer shouted.
"We won, we actually won!" Ash shouted.
"Pika Pikachu!".
"Grouu!" Lucario roared.
"Yes he did it!" Serena shouted.
"Looks like Ash will be moving on, now all I have to do is make sure I do too." Red said.
Trent returned his Abomasnow before walking over to Ash and his pokemon.
"That was quite a battle Ash." Trent said.
"It was, you battled great Trent." Ash said.
"Thanks, but I have to say. You did even better than the guy who beat me in Sinnoh. Keep battling like you are and I think you'll go on to win it all." Trent said before he shook Ash's hand.
Later that day Ash and the others were at the pokemon center waiting for nurse Joy to come back with Ash's pokemon.
"Great work out there Ash, you were awesome." Clemont said.
"You handled yourself well Ash. I'm very proud of you." Felix said.
" So I wonder how tough this Raiko is?" Red asked.
"He must be good to have made it to the victory tournament." Ash said.
"That's true, I'll have to think carefully on who I should use." Red said. Elsewhere in Diantha's Condo, she was staring out from the balcony with a lot on her mind.
"Mind if I join you?" A familiar voice said.
"Why not, I could use some company." Daintha said. Daniel leapt down from the ledge above Diantha and onto the balcony.
"So how have things been going with you and your fiancee?" Daintha asked.
"Serena is doing great, we're getting married at the end of the month."
"I'm glad you found someone. Being in my line of life, it's hard to know if someone loves you for who you are inside instead of who you are to the outside world." Daintha said.
"I suppose I lucked out, I met Serina before I even beat my first champion." Daniel said.
"Sometimes I wish I were still in the brotherhood. Maybe then I could meed a decent man who loves pokemon as much as I do." Daintha said.
"Just because you're not in the brotherhood anymore, doesn't mean you can't find a guardian."
"Maybe, but I suppose you didn't come over here to talk about my love life." Daintha said.
"No, there's something rotten here. I can feel it, someone close to us is not what they seem." Daniel said.
"I have felt it as well, I think it's someone in the elite four." Daintha said.
"You think so?".
"Yes, and you can bet I'm going to find out who." Daintha said.
"You've got me to help out. We're going to find this person, and make them pay." Daniel said.
A few hours later Red stood on one end of the main stadium with Raiko standing on the other.
"Alright this is it, the victory tournament. We can do this." Red said as he turned his head up.
"The match between trainer Red Ketchum and Raiko Kurama is about to begin!" The announcer shouted.
" Alright time to show this guy who I am. I choose you Umbreon!" Raiko shouted. The black Eeveelution pokemon came out and gave a very confident expression towards Red.
"I've seen this Raiko in a match before. He is a very skilled trainer, he beat his first two opponents with only one pokemon." Alexa said.
" Looks like Red has his work cut out for him." Ash said.
"He can do this." Korrina said.
"Alright, I choose you Gogoat!" Red shouted.
" Trainer Raiko has chosen an Umbreon and trainer Red has chosen a Gogoat." The announcer said.
"Time to go, Umbreon use dig." Umbreon began burrowing his way underground as Gogoat kept his feet on the ground to try and feel any moments.
"Gogoat lift yourself with Vine whip!" Gogoat let out 4 vines and lifted himself off the ground.
Moments later Umbreon came out of the ground right below Gogoat.
"Dark Pulse!" As Umbreon came up he unleashed a pulse of dark energy that knocked Gogoat's vines away and forced him down before Umbreon smacked into his stomach with Dig.
"Nice work Umbreon." Raiko said.
"Gogoat use Seed bomb!".
"Dodge and use Shadow ball." Gogoat unleashed 4 seed bombs towards Umbreon. The smaller Eeveelution pokemon began moving forward with incredible speed and agility to easily avoid each seed bomb.
After he got past the last bomb, Umbreon opened his mouth and unleashed a ball of ghost energy right at Gogoat.
"Leaf blade!". Gogoat raised his head and slashed the incoming Shadow ball in half.
"Hmm, impressive I haven't seen a Shadow ball get cut in half like that. Umbreon use Dig." The Umbreon burrowed himself underground again as Gogoat tried to look around.
"Gogoat keep moving!". Gogoat sprinted across the battlefield as fast as he could. Every few feet Gogoat would turn in a different direction trying to throw Umbreon off his trail.
"Dig!". Umbreon came up beneath Gogoat and smashed his stomach.
"Goat" Gogoat grunted.
" Gotcha." Raiko said.
"Leaf blade!" Red shouted. Gogoat opened his eyes and lowered his head before slashing Umbreon across the side.
"So did we." Red said.
"Yes, he's still in it!" Korrina shouted. Gogoat stood in front of Red while Umbreon stood in front of his own trainer.
"Umbreon use Shadow ball!".
"Gogoat use Leaf blade into Seed bomb!". Gogoat slashed the incoming shadow ball before unleashing several explosive seeds at Umbreon.
" Umbreon get closer to him!". Umbreon sprinted across the battlefield as explosive seeds went off all around him.
"Vine whip aim for his legs!" Red shouted. Gogoat hurled two vines right at Umbreon's legs.
"Umbreon leap!". The Umbreon leapt up and over the vines before landing right in front of Gogoat.
"Leaf blade!".
"Protect!". As Gogoat ran forward with his head held up. At the same time Umbreon formed a sphere of green energy around him. Gogoat's leaf blade bounced right off the barrier.
"Perfect now use dark pulse!". Umbreon unleashed a pulse of dark energy right in front of him, hurling Gogoat back.
"Gogoat!" Korrina shouted.
"Perfect use Shadow ball." Raiko shouted.
"Gogoat use Leaf blade into leech seed!" Red shouted. Gogoat raised his head just in time to slash the Shadow ball in half.
Moments later he hurled a small seed forward.
"Protect!"Raiko shouted. Just before Umbreon could throw up the barrier, the leech seed hit his forehead and sprouted, entangling Umbreon and sapping his energy.
"Umbreon!" Raiko shouted.
"Leaf blade!" Gogoat got up and charged Umbreon before slashing him across his body with leaf blade. Umbreon landed back few beet with the leech seed cut off him. However, despite this Umbreon still didn't have the energy to get back up.
"Umbreon is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright we're up one!" Red shouted.
"Yes that's it Red!" Korrina shouted.
"Umbreon return, rest up. Ok Red Let's see how you handle this one. I choose you Snorlax!" Raiko shouted.
The massive fat bear pokemon came out and roared as he slammed his feet into the ground.
"A Snorlax, alright Gogoat use Seed bomb!". Gogoat hurled 3 explosive seeds towards the massive bear.
"Eat them." Raiko said. Snorlax opened his mouth and swallowed the 3 seeds whole.
"What?" Red said sweat dropping.
"Huh?" Korrina and the others said just as surprised. Moments later Snorlax burped as smoke came out of his mouth.
"Alright then, Gogoat use Leaf blade!".
"Snorlax use Ice punch!". Snorlax raised his arm and covered his fist in ice before smashing Gogoat in the face, hurling him back across the battlefield.
"Now body slam!". Snorlax ran forward and leapt onto Gogoat.
"Gogoat!" Red shouted. Snorlax got up revealing Gogoat on the ground with swirly eyes.
"Gogoat is unable to battle." The ref said.
"And just like that Raiko has evened things out." The announcer said.
"Gogoat return, you battled very well. Ok time to meet bear with bear. I choose you Pangoro!" Red shouted. Pangoro came out and roared as he faced Snorlax.
" Pangoro use Hammer arm."
"Earthquake." Snorlax leapt up and smashed his massive body into the ground, causing the entire stadium to shake and ground quakes to move across the ground before hitting Pangoro.
"Yes, direct hit." Raiko said as Pangoro was forced onto the ground.
"Come on Pangoro!" Korrina shouted. Pangoro got up and growled in anger.
"Pangoro use Low sweep!". Pangoro sprinted forward before leaping in low with his leg held out.
"Move and ice Ice punch!". Despite his immense size, Snorlax moved out of the way and smashed his fist right into Pangoro's face as he flew by him.
"Got him again!" Raiko said.
"Geez, Raiko is good." Clemont said.
"Come on Red, you can beat this guy!" Ash shouted.
"Pangoro use Karate chop!". Despite being hit twice, Pangoro got right back up and charged at Snorelax.
"Wait for it, wait for it." Raiko said. He knew how fast and agile Red's pokemon were, so he waited until Pangoro was to close to dodge.
"Hyper beam!" Snorlax opened his mouth and blasted Pangoro with a powerful pulse of energy that hurled him back.
"Yes, that's three direct hits." Raiko said.
"Come on Pangoro hold on!" Red shouted. Pangoro slowly got up as Snorlax regained his energy.
"Body slam before he can get up!". Snorlax charged forward and slammed his massive bulk onto Pangoro.
"No!" Korrina shouted.
"Pangoro is unable to." The ref started before he saw movement under Snorlax.
"Huh?" Raiko said. Pangoro slowly got up and despite his fatigue, and lifted up Snorlax in his arms.
"Yes! Pangoro use Vital throw!".
"Grawww!" Pangoro roared as he hurled Snorlax into the air.
"Hammer arm!" Red shouted. Pangoro leapt up into the air and smashed his arm into the other bear's face, hurling him into the ground.
"Snorlax!" Raiko shouted. The fat bear tried to get up, but fell right back down.
"Snorlax is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright we did it!" Red said. Pangoro smiled before he fell to his knees and then his stomach.
"Pangoro is also unable to battle." The ref said.
"Well it looks like his fatigue has gotten to him." The announcer said.
"Snorlax return, you battled very well I'm proud of you. My next pokemon will bring you down. I choose you Feraligatr" Raiko said.
A massive Feraligatr came out and snapped his jaws as he faced Red.
"Pangoro return, you were awesome out there. I choose you Noivern!" Red shouted as Noivern came out and landed in front of Red.
"Let's cool this guy off, Ice beam and aim for the wings!". Feraligator opened his mouth and unleashed a massive beam of ice right at Noivern.
"Noivern use Agility into Dragon claw!" Noivern increased his speed an evasiveness as he flew down and avoided the incoming burst of ice.
"Dragon tail!". Trent shouted. As Noivern came in, Feraligatr raised his tail and smashed it into Noivern's left claw. However, Noivern came in with his other claws and snatched up Feraligatr's tail.
Before Feraligatr could respond he was slashed across the face with Dragon claw.
"Ice fang!" Trent shouted. Feraligatr opened his mouth and raised his jaws towards Noivern.
"Noivern use Hurricane!".Before Feraligatr could snap his jaws around his opponent, Noivern unleashed a cyclone that lifted Feraligatr up and hurled him back.
"Alright Red's doing great!".Korrina shouted.
"Noivern use Air slash!" Noivern flew in and tried to slash Feraligatr while he was still down.
"Ice beam on the wings!" Feraligatr opened his mouth and blasted Noivern's wings with ice. Noivern fell to the ground with his wings covered in ice and crashed.
"Ice fang!". Feraligator leapt forward and snapped his jaws around Noivern's neck with an icy bite.
"Yes two direct hits!" Raiko said.
"Noivern use Dragon pulse!" Red shouted. Despite his pain, Noivern raised his head and aimed it at Feraligator, who was still biting him.
"Feraligator move!" Raiko shouted. Feraligator let go only to be blasted in the stomach by Dragon pulse and hurled back. Feraligator tried to get up , but fell right back down unconscious.
"Feraligator is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright!" Red shouted. Moments later Noivern's head hit the ground as his eyes turned swirly.
"Noivern is also unable to battle." The ref said. Both trainers returned their pokemon.
"This is it, it all comes down to this. I choose you Charizard!" Red shouted. Red's Charizard came out and roared as he landed in front of his trainer.
"Yes, Charizard there's no way he's going to lose now." Korrina said.
"A Charizard huh, ok I choose you Dragonite!". A massive orange dragon pokemon came out and slammed his giant feet into the ground causing it to shake. he stood almost 3 feet taller than Charizard and looked down at his opponent with an angry expression.
"Graaauuh!" Dragonite roared.
"Woah, that's one bit Dragonite." Ash said.
"Charizard will have his work cut out for him." Felix said. Before either trainer could call out an attack Raiko raised his arm. Red looked closer and saw something on his wrist. His mouth almost dropped as he saw it was none other than a hidden blade holder. Raiko was an aura guardian too.
"Wait a minute, then that means." Red said. Raiko touched his mega evolution stone as a massive colorful sphere formed around Dragonite.
"He's Mega evolving." Ash said as his eyes widened. Red and Charizard's eyes widened too as they saw the mega evolution complete itself. Standing there was an even bigger dragnet. His skin had turned a darker orange and his chest scales had turned dark blue. His wings now looked like white feathery wings as the two antennas on his head turned blue with feathers on them as well. Blue harder skin formed around his paws and feet with a large horn on his forehead and 4 large pearl orbs around his neck and 2 on the end of his tail.
"Grauuuh!" Dragonite roared even louder.
"Folks I'm simply speechless." The announcer said.
"This certainly won't be easy. But we can do it!" Red shouted as he touched his own mega evolution stone.
A colorful sphere formed around Charizard as he mega evolved into Charizard X.
"Two mega dragons, this should be awesome. Dragonite use Dragon Pulse!".
"Charizard Dragon claw!". Mega Dragonite opened his mouth and unleashed a colossal beam of dragon energy at Charizard X. Charizard X used his now glowing claws to absorb the incoming dragon energy. Charizard X did his best to hold the dragon pulse at bay, but it's sheer power was almost overwhelming.
"Hold on Charizard!" Red shouted. Charizard X was able to hold his position and absorb the rest of the Dragon pulse before reaching Dragonite.
"Ice beam!". Just before he could reach Mega Dragonite, Charizard X was hit in the chest with a powerful Ice beam that hurled him back.
"Yes, gotcha." Raiko said. Charizard X managed to catch himself before he hit the ground and flew back up.
"Now use hit him with Outrage!". Mega Dragonite turned red and puffed smoke out of his mouth before hurling himself at Charizard X.
"Steel wing as a shield!" Red shouted. Just before Dragonite could reach him, Charizard X covered himself with his wings. Dragonite smashed his claws and feet into Charizard X relentlessly. However, Charizard's steel wings kept Charizard X's damage at a minimum.
"Dragon claw!". Charizard X hurled his wings out, kocking Dragonite's claws away before he slashed the larger dragon across the face with his now glowing claws.
"Yes we got him!" Red shouted.
"Dragonite gain some altitude and use Dragon Pulse!". Mega Dragonite flew up high and circled around as he unleashed Dragon pulse.
"Charizard After him, use Dragon claw into Air slash!" Red shouted. Charizard X quickly flew after Dragonite, using his Claws to deflect or absorb any incoming dragon energy before he got within striking range of Dragonite.
"Air slash and aim for his wings!" Red shouted hoping he could ground Dragonite. Charizard X flew in close nearly hitting Mega Dragonite's wings.
"Now!" Raiko shouted. Mega Dragonite whipped his wings around smashing Charizard X in the face, knocking him off his path.
"Thunder punch!". Dragonite's fist got charged up before he smashed it into Charizard X's face. Though the attack didn't do much damage, it did force Charizard X back.
"Charizard use Flare Blitz!". Charizard X covered himself in fire before flying right at Mega Dragonite.
"Cool him off with an Icebeam." Mega Dragonite opened his mouth and unleashed icebeam!". Mega Dragonite opened his mouth and unleashed a powerful ice beam.
"Flamethrower!". Charizard X opened his mouth and blasted the ice with a jet of fire.
"Grab him!" Raiko shouted. As Dragonite came in to grab him, only to have Charizard X fly up and knock his arms away.
"Air slash!" Red shouted. Charizard X slashed across Mega Dragonite's back.
"Spin around!" Raiko shouted. Mega Dragonite whipped his wings around knocking Charizard X away from him.
"Now use Dragon pulse!". Mega Dragonite opened his mouth and blasted Charizard X dead in the center of his chest, hurling him into the ground.
"Yes, direct hit!" Raiko shouted.
"This isn't good. That had to do a lot of damage." Ash said.
"Come on Red, you guys can't give up!" Korrina shouted.
"Charizard we can do this, come on, get up!" Red shouted. Charizard X grunted before he got up and looked up at Dragonite.
"Grauuu!" Charizard X roared before he got up and flew into the air.
" Charizard use Dragon claw!" Red shouted. Charizard X's claws glowed violet as he soared at Mega Dragonite.
"Dragon pulse!" Raiko shouted.
"Steel wing." Charizard X covered himself with his now steel wings . As each burst of Dragon energy hit him, Charizard X's wings kept any damage he took at a minimum.
"Freeze his wings. Ice beam!".
"Flamethrower!" Red shouted. Charizard X opened his mouth as his tail flame grew larger and unleashed a jet of blue fire. The blue fire melted through the ice beam and hit Mega Dragonite. The attack didn't do much damage , but it did distract Dragonite and made it hard to see where Charizard X was coming.
"Look out!" Raiko shouted. Charizard X flew through the fire and slashed his violet claws across Dragonite's face.
"Dragonite!" Raiko shouted. Dragonite hit the ground hard before he reverted back into his normal form.
"Dragnonite is unable to battle, the winner is Red Ketchum." The ref said.
"We did it, we won!" Red shouted.
"Grauu!" Charizard X roared in victory.
"Yes he did it!" Korrina shouted.
"Well done Red." Felix said.
"Dragonite return. You were amazing out there." Raiko said before he walked over to Red who was not being lifted up by Charizard.
"Congratulations." Raiko said.
"Thanks, I have to say that was quite the match. You're one of the best trainer's I've ever battled." Red said.
"Thank you, good luck." Raiko said as he shook Red's hand.
"Guardian" Red heard from an aura message at the same time Raiko smiled.

Sorry if you guys wanted 6 vs 6 but I just ran out of steam for this chapter. Next few battles will be 6 on 6. Also as a reminder there are only 2 chapters left in this story.

I will tell you that you won't be seeing any more of Gary, Leaf, or even Oak in this story. But keep in mind the sequel is in Kanto.
