Ch 74: The semi finals
Several days had passed since Ash and Red entered the victory tournament. Since then they had both faced 7 more opponents. Each one more difficult that the last. Despite their increased skill, Ash and Red managed to overcome each opponent.
The next before round 9 the group was celebrating at the pokemon center Ash and Red making it to the semi finals.
"I'm so proud of you guys! You're just one round away from the championship" Korrina said very excited.
"You have both shown great prowess as trainers. I very proud of you boys." Felix said.
"Well we can't take all the credit. Our pokemon have been battling harder than they ever have been before." Ash said.
"They've been very well trained." Serena said. Moments later another trainer walked into the pokemon center and up to the counter.
"Good evening nurse Joy I need my pokemon looked at before tomorrow."
Red and Korrina recognized the voice. They turned to see none other than Laura .
"Hey it's Laura." Red said.
"Who?" Ash said.
"A girl we met earlier this week who's competing. Apparently she made it this far." Red said.
Moments later another two trainers walked into the pokemon center. Ash and Serena saw them approach the counter and recognized them as Diana and Dakota.
" Hey it's Dakota." Ash said.
"Nurse Joy my pokemon need some replenishing. They'll be battling in the semi finals tomorrow." Dakota said proudly.
"Wait a minute, Dakota made it too? That means we're facing them." Red said. Dakota and Laura turned to see Ash and the others.
"Look it's Ash and Serena." Diana said. Diana and Dakota walked over to them at the same time Laura did.
"Well look who's here." Dakota said.
"Dakota, you made it to the semi finals too." Ash said.
"It certainly wasn't easy, but I made it." Dakota said.
"Laura you made it to the semi finals." Red said.
"Indeed, I have ascended to round 9. I'm just two wins away from winning the Kalos league."
"Don't count on winning just yet, you still have two of us to go through." Red said.
"But who is the question." Ash said. The 4 trainers looked at each other intensely as they thought about what Ash said.
Later that night Ash was in his condo with Serena thinking about who his opponent might be in the semi finals.
"A big day tomorrow, if I win I could actually be in the final round." Ash said.
"It is exciting isn't it. According to Red , that Laura girl is very skilled." Serena said.
"She would be a difficult opponent. But I could face off against Dakota too and he's won two battle frontiers." Ash said.
"Wait a minute, what if you have to battle Red?" Serena asked. Ash realized that Serena was right, he could have to face off against Red next round.
"Well maybe I'll get lucky and I won't have to face him." Ash said. But the more Ash thought about it the worse it got. Even if he didn't face off against Red next round and they both won , they would have to face each other eventually.
"Ash you've battled against Red before." Serena said.
"I suppose, but I guess it's only a problem if it happens." Ash said.
"That's true, I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out." Serena said.
The following morning the 4 finalists stood in the registration building with Diantha.
"Welcome finalists, you are to be commended for making it this far into the Kalos league. There are only four of you left and after today there will only be two. I have the listings for the semi finals." Daintha said as Ash and Red listened with a bit of nervousness.
"The first match will be against trainer Ash Ketchum and Dakota Starnes." Daintha said as Ash and Red let out relief breaths.
"Which means the second match will be between Laura and Red."
"Well looks like you'll be my last challenger before the championship." Laura said.
"We'll see." Red said.
"Good luck Ash." Dakota said.
"Good luck to you too." Ash said. Both brothers were very relieved that they didn't have to face each other yet.
However, they both knew that they were facing extremely skilled opponents and if they wanted to make it to the final round they would have to give everything they had.
Later that day Ash stood on one end of the main stadium while Dakota stood on the other.
"This is it, the semifinal match. If Ash can beat Dakota he's in the final round!" Serena said.
"That's true, but Dakota is quite a skilled trainer. This will be one of the hardest matches Ash has ever had." Red said.
"The semi final battle between trainer Ash Ketchum and trainer Dakota Starnes is about to begin. The battle will be 6 against 6. Trainer's choose you're pokemon." The ref said.
Ash took a deep breath before raising his first pokeball and hurling it forward.
"I choose you Totodile!" Ash shouted. His Totodile came out and danced around in front of Ash.
" So your Totodile huh, I know just to who to use. Go Leafeon!" Dakota shouted. The grass Eevelution pokemon stood in front of Dakota.
"So we start out with a Totodile and Leafeon." The announcer said.
" Let's begin with a Magical leaf." Leafeon waved her head head forward and unleashed a barrage of colorful leaves towards the Jhoto starter.
"Totodile dodge and use Ice fang!" . Totodile used his speed and agility to move past most of the leaves as they came at him.
"Aqua tail!". Totodile coated his tail in water and knocked the last 3 leaves back at Leafeon.
"Dodge ." Dakota said. Leafeon elegantly dodged the incoming leaves as Totodile charged at her with his jaws wide open.
"Now use grass whistle!".
"Totodile quick blast her with water!" Ash shouted. Totodile opened his mouth but was too late. Leafeon let out a calm and vibrant whistle that reached Totodile's ears and made him very drowsy.
"Totodile stay awake!" Ash shouted. Totodile tried to stay on his feet but the grass whistle finally took its toll and put him to sleep.
"That's not good, now he's at the mercy of Leafeon." Red said.
"Come on Totodile wake up!" Serena shouted.
"Now that he isn't going anywhere, Leafeon use Giga drain." Leaden ran over to Totodile and drained a good portion of his energy.
"Yes, that had to do a lot of damage." Dakota said. Moments later Totodile's eyes opened and he saw Leafeon right in front of him.
"Ice fang!" Ash shouted.
"Dodge and use Sand attack." Totodile tried to snap his jaws around Leafeon, but she leapt back before splashing sand into Totodile's face.
"Dile." Totodile grunted as he tried to wipe the sand out of his face.
"Now that he can't see, use magic leaf." Leafeon waved her head and unleashed a furry of colorful leaves at Totodile.
Ash took a deep breath and connected to Totodile's aura.
"Totodile, listen to my guidance. I will be your eyes." Ash said through an aura message.
As the leaves flew flew at him, Ash saw each leaf and gave the info to Totodile. With the information, Totodile was able to dodge or knock away each leaf with his aqua tail.
"Yeah keep going Totodile!" Serena shouted.
"Leaf blade!". Leafeon came in with her leaf blade held up.
"Ice fang!". Totodile opened his mouth and snapped the leaf blade in his jaws.
"Gotcha!" Ash said before Totodile hurled Leafeon back several feet. Leafeon hit the ground but got right back up.
"Leafeon use Magic leaf."
"Totodile dodge and use Ice fang!" Ash shouted. Totodile got the sand out of his eyes and rushed forward at Leafeon. Totodile dodged or knocked away each of the incoming leaves before opening his jaws.
"Now Leaf blade and come in low!". Leafeon leapt in low and slashed Totodile across his lower body.
"Totodile!" Ash shouted. Totodile slammed into the ground and rolled over to his side with swirly eyes.
"Totodile is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Yes, we've got the lead." Dakota said.
" That's not good, I thought Ash had him after the Ice fang." Clemont said.
"Come on Ash you can still do this!" Serena shouted.
"Alright, I choose you Hawlucha!" Ash shouted. Ash's Hawlucha came out and did a front flip before facing Leafeon.
"A Hawlucha. Well that certainly puts me at a disadvantage. Oh well, I've been in worse situations. Leafeon use Magical leaf." Hawlucha dodge into High jump kick!" Ash shouted.
Hawlucha leapt forward and glided up and above the incoming leaves before coming down at Leafeon.
"Grass Whistle!".
"Knock her off balance!" Ash shouted. Hawlucha hurled his wings forward and created a small gust that knocked Leafeon off balance.
"High jump kick!" Ash shouted. Hawlucha landed right in front of Leafeon before leaping up and smashing his right knee into Leafeon's face as hard as he could.
"Leafeon!" Dakota shouted before Leafeon landed right in front of him with her eyes swirly.
"Leafeon is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Yes we evened it out again!" Ash shouted.
"Alright he's back in this!" Serena shouted.
"Leafeon return. Alright I know just who to send out. Go Gengar!" Dakota shouted as the ghost pokemon came out and gave a very evil smile.
"A ghost pokemon, Hawlucha will have a disadvantage. Hawlucha return, alright my next pokemon should be more than effective. I choose you Mightyena!" The dark Wolf pokemon came out and snarled at Gengar.
"A dark type huh. Alright Gengar use Thunderbolt!".
"Thunderbolt?" Ash said in confusion. The ghost pokemon created a spark in front of him that erupted into a bolt of electricity.
Mightyena dodge and use Crunch!" Ash shouted. Mightyena leapt to the side as the Thunderbolt flew past her, before dead sprinting towards Gengar.
"Gengar dodge and use Venoshock!". Just before Mightyena could reach him, Gengar moved out of the way as if in slow motion. Causing him to completely avoid Mightyena's attack.
"Woah." Ash said in pure amazement at how Gengar dodged the attack. Gengar aimed his mouth at Mightyena and unleashed a bolt of poison energy at Mightyena.
"Mightyena roll over then come in low and use Sucker punch." Ash shouted. Mightyena rolled across the ground as the Venoshock hit where she had been. Once she knew she was safe, Mightyena made another dead sprint at Gengar, aiming low like Ash told her.
"Dodge and use Thunderbolt." As soon as Mightyena came at Gengar, the ghost pokemon moved in what appeared to be slow motion again right over Mightyena. The dark wolf ran right underneath Gengar and tried to turn around as he formed another Thunderbolt.
"Dodge it!" Ash shouted. Mightyena leapt back as the Thunderbolt slammed into the ground in front of her.
"Well folks it seems neither pokemon can seem to land a hit." The announcer said.
"I've got to do something about Gengar's dodging. Wait a minute, I think I have it. Mightyena use Crunch!" Ash shouted before Mightyena made a dead sprint at Gengar.
"But that doesn't work, why is he doing that again?" Bonnie asked.
"I think I know what he's doing." Red said.
"Now Mightyena use Sand attack!" Ash shouted. Mightyena splashed a burst of sand into Gengar's eyes making him stumble a little as he held his eyes.
"So that's what he's up to." Dakota said.
"Crunch!" Ash shouted.
"Destiny bond!" Dakota shouted. Just before Mightyena could snap her jaws around Gengar, the ghost pokemon glowed pink. After Mightyena bit down on Gengar, the ghost pokemon fell backwards with swirly eyes.
"Gengar is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright he did it!" Serena shouted. Moments later the same pink glowing energy enveloped Mightyena and knocked her out.
"Huh?" Serena said.
"Destiny bond is a nasty ghost move that takes your opponent with you if you are beaten." Felix said.
"Mightyena return, you battled great." Ash said.
" Looks like this is going to get more interesting. Go Golem!" Dakota shouted. The massive boulder pokemon came out and slammed his feet into the ground.
"Great a rock type. Hawlucha come back out!" Ash shouted. Hawlucha came back out and did a front flip before standing in a battle position.
"This won't be easy, but not impossible. Golem use Stone edge!".
"Hawlucha get above them and use Karate Chop!". As Golem smashed into the ground and came up with several spiked rocks, Hawlucha sprinted forward before leaping up and soaring through the air with his wings.
Golem unleashed his attack towards Hawlucha, however, Ash had trained Hawlucha to avoid and counter such attacks while in mid air. Hawlucha re-angled his wings, spun to the side, or smashed each incoming rock before he was within range of Golem.
"Rock tomb into Defense curl." To Ash's surprise, the Golem hurled the rocks straight up above him, before curling himself into a defensive manner. Just before Hawlucha could come in, the rocks fell back on top of Golem, encasing him in a tomb of rocks.
"What?" Ash said as Pikachu gave just as a confused expression.
Hawlucha came down and smashed the closest rock with Karate chop. While the move was able to break through the rock and hit Golem. Most of the force was used to break the rock. Added to the fact that Golem had tightened his defenses, the attack did minimal damage.
" Brilliant." Diana said as she watched from another part of the stadium.
"Dakota is quite resourceful." Red said.
"Come on Hawlucha you still have the advantage!" Serena shouted.
"Golem use Smack down!". Before Hawlucha could get any distance between him and Golem, the massive rock pokemon hurled a curved rock into the air and clipped Hawlucha across the wing.
As a result, Hawlucha was hurled into the ground in front of Golem.
"Perfect, now follow up with Double edge!". Golem charged at Hawlucha with incredible speed considering his size.
"Hawlucha dive in low and use wing attack on his legs." Ash said Just before Golem could reach Hawlucha. The fighting bird dove forward in between the massive rock packmen's legs. As he did, Hawlucha smashed his wings into the front of Golem's legs. Not doing much damage, but forcing Golem off his feet and into an uncontrollable tumble forward.
"Yes. Hawlucha Flying press!" Ash said.
"Golem get ahold of yourself!" Dakota shouted. Golem tried to stop himself, but his shape made it too difficult. By the time Golem stopped, Halwucha was already right above him.
"Quick use Smack down!" Dakota shouted.
"Golem turned around and tried to hurl the rock forward but was too late. Hawlucha landed his flying press right onto Golem's face.
"Golem!" Dakota shouted. After Hawlucha got up and off Golem, the massive rock pokemon was revealed to be unconscious .
"Golem is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright that's three down. I'm halfway there." Ash said.
"Great work Ash, keep it up!" Serena shouted.
"Golem return. You battled very well out there Golem. You are very skilled Ash, I can see how you made it this far. But it stops here, I choose you Milotic!" Dakota shouted.
A massive dragon servant pokemon came out and stared at the much smaller Hawlucha.
"Wow that Milotic is beautiful." Serena said.
"It is!" Bonnie shouted.
"Milotic use Attract."
"Hawlucha eyes closed." Ash said. Having faced Attract many times before, Ash had figured out how to deal with it. Hawlucha closed his eyes and never saw Milotic after it hit him, thus was not infatuated.
"Perfect now do as I say, gain some speed then fly up." Ash shouted. Hawlucha ran forward before leaping up and soaring into the air.
" Ice beam!". Milotic opened her mouth and unleashed several burst of ice towards Hawlucha.
Hawlucha heard Ash's instructions through their aura connection and easily dodged each burst of ice.
"Sky attack!" Ash shouted. Hawlucha came down with his eyes still closed as Milotic looked up at him.
"Twister." Just before Hawlucha could reach Milotic, she unleashed a powerful twister right in front of her that quickly sucked him in and held him in place.
"Oh no Hawlucha!" Ash shouted.
"Perfect now use Blizzard." Milotic opened her mouth and unleashed the furious blizzard at near point blank range.
"Hawlucha!" Ash shouted as his pokemon was enveloped in frigid ice. When the twister ended Hawlucha dropped to the ground with his eyes swirly.
"Hawlucha is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Well done Milotic." Dakota said.
"This isn't good, now he has evened this out again." Korrina said.
"Ash is still in this. " Serena said confidently.
"Hawlucha return, I'm very proud of you. Alright I choose you Talonflame!" Ash shouted. Talonflame came out and flew above Ash.
"A Talonflame, not the best choice but then again neither was Golem against Hawlucha. Milotic use Hydro pump." Milotic opened her mouth and unleashed a powerful jet of water right at Talonflame.
" Talonflame use Agility into Razorwind." Talonflame increased his speed and quickly flew away from the water before unleashing a series of wind streaks at Milotic.
"Milotic use Twister." Milotic unleashed another twister that sucked up all the steaks and hurled them back at Talonflame.
"TalonFlame use agility!" Ash shouted. Talonflame quickly avoided each streak as Milotic locked in on him.
"Twister." Milotic unleashed another twister right in front of Talonflame.
"Talonflame gain altitude!" Ash shouted. Talonflame tried to gain altitude, but the power of the twister sucked him in.
"Oh no not again." Ash said.
"Perfect, now use Hydropump." Milotic opened her mouth and blasted Talonflame with a powerful jet of water.
"Talonflame!" Ash shouted. Talonflame was blasted out of the Twister and slammed into the ground with swirly eyes.
"Talonflame is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Oh no, now Ash only has two pokemon left." Serena said.
"Dakota is a very good trainer. It's no wonder he made it this far." Red said.
"Talonflame return. I am very proud of you. Alright this won't be easy but I have to try. I choose you Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted. The massive dinosaur pokemon came out and roared at Milotic.
"Ah I was hoping I'd get to battle your mighty Tyrantrum. He's quite a tank from what I've seen. Let's see if he can handle my Milotic. Use Icebeam!" Dakota shouted.
"Tyrantrum use Ancient power and aim for the center." Ash said. Tyrantrum's eyes glowed violet as he lifted up 3 large rocks and hurled them into the center of the icebeam, causing it to split and shot the sides away from Tyrantrum.
"Very resourceful, how about a twister." Dakota said. Milotic unleashed a powerful tornado of Dragon energy right at Tyrantrum.
"Dragon tail!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum's tail glowed violet as he slammed it into the Twister, dissipating it into nothing.
"Alright keep it up Tyrantrum!" Serena shouted. Ash knew that since they were on land that Milotic would not be able to maneuver against Tyrantrum's head on attacks.
"Tyrantrum use head smash!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum lowered his head and charged in at Milotic.
"We can't dodge that, so we'll have to stop him. Use Blizzard." Ash grit his teeth, he knew that Tyrantrum was too big to avoid a blizzard. All he could do was endure it.
"Tryantrum brace yourself!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum grit his teeth and brace himself as he charged right into the Blizzard.
"That can't be pleasant. Tyrantrum is weak to ice attack." Sycamore said.
"Hold on Tyrantrum just a little more!" Ash shouted. Moments later Tyrantrum came out of the Blizzard and smashed his head right into Milotic, hurling her back.
"Grab her with Crunch!" Ash shouted. Before Milotic could get launched back, Tyrantrum snatched her midsection in his mighty jaws and bit down on her hard.
"Mi! Milotic cried out in pain before fainting.
"Milotic is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright great job Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum dropped Milotic before roaring in victory.
"Alright Ash has evened things out again." Red said.
"Yes great work Ash!" Serena shouted.
"Milotic return, you battled very well. I am more than impressed with your Tyrantrum Ash. Let's see how he handles my next pokemon." Dakota said as he threw out his next pokeball.
A large Machamp came out and flexed all 4 of his arms as he stood in front of Tyrantrum.
"Machamp, come in with a Low sweep!" Dakota shouted.
"Tryantrum, swipe him away with Dragon tail!" Ash shouted. As Machamp came in low, Tyrantrum swept his tail across the ground and knocked Machamp away from him.
"Grab his tail!" Dakota shouted. Machamp snatched Tyrantrum's tail and tried to pull him closer.
"Tyrantrum Dragon claw!". As Machamp tried to pull Tyrantrum closer, the massive dinosaur used his immense strength to pull Machamp over to him before slashing him across the face with Dragon claw.
"Follow up with Stomp!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum came in with his foot raised.
"Dynamic punch!" Dakota shouted. Machamp leapt up and smashed his fist into Tyrantrum's leg, forcing him to stumble backwards.
"Cross chop!".
"Dragon tail!" Ash shouted. Machamp leapt up as Tyrantrum raised his own tail. Machamp smashed his arms across Tyrantrum's chest moments before the dinosaur's tail smashed into his Machamp's body, hurling him back.
"Earthquake!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum leapt up and smashed his feet into the ground, causing seismic quakes that quickly made their way across the ground and hit Machamp as he tried to get up.
"Ma!" Machamp grunted as he fell onto his back with swirly eyes.
"Machamp is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright we did it Tyrantrum!" Ash shouted. Tyrantrum wanted to roar in victory, but his fatigue finally caught up with him and he too fell to the ground.
"Tyrantrum is also unable to battle." The ref said.
"Looks like it all comes down to their last pokemon." Red said.
"You can do it Ash!" Serena shouted.
"Tyrantrum return, you were incredible out there. Ok this is it, I choose you Charizard!" Ash shouted. Ash's Charizard came out and roared as he stood in front of his trainer.
"Oh no, I was afraid of that. Well I don't have much of a choice. I chose you Venasaur!" A massive Vesusaur came out and faced Charizard.
"Astounding we have a Venusaur against a Charizard." The announcer said.
"This might even the odds a little." Dakota said as he touched a mega evolution stone on his ring finger. A colorful sphere formed around Venusaur as he began to mega evolve. When the sphere vanished, Venasaur was in his Mega form.
"Time to show him what we're made of." Ash said as he touched the mega evolution stone on his hidden blade holder. The same colorful sphere formed around Charizard as he mega evolved into Charizard Y.
"This should be very interesting." Red said.
"Now that Venusaur is mega evolved he's not weak against fire he's at much less of a disadvantage." Korrina said.
"Charizard can still beat him." Serena said.
"Charizard gain some Altitude and use Flamethrower!" Ash shouted. A drought started and fueled Charizard's fire power. Charizard Y soared over Venasaur and unleashed a colossal jet of fire.
"Petal dance!" Vanusaur unleashed a maelstrom of petals into the incoming fire in hopes of shielding him. However, since the Flamethrower came from a Mega Charizard Y, it had no trouble tearing through the petals and engulfing Mega Venasaur.
"Gotcha." Ash said.
"Alright!" Serena said.
"I don't think so, Venasaur use Synthesis." Mega Venasaur took in sunlight and used its energy to heal his burn marks.
"Stop him, use Dragon pulse!". Charizard Y flew in closer and unleashed a powerful pulse of dragon energy right at Mega Venusaur.
"Solar beam." Mega Venusaur too in sunlight and almost instantly unleashed a massive beam of solar energy.
"What?" Ash shouted. The Solarbeam tore through the Dragon pulse and hit Charizard dead in the center of his chest.
"Yes direct hit." Dakota said. However, when he smoke cleared Charizard Y was still in the air looking more annoyed than hurt.
"Looks like even a mega Solarbeam didn't do much damage." Clemont said.
"Grass moves have little to no effect on Charizard Y." Red said.
"Which means Ash has a large advantage." Serena said.
"Charizard Flamethrower!". Charizard Y came back in with another massive jet of fire.
"Poison powder!". Mega Venusaur unleashed a thick cloud of poison ahead of him. The fire hit and ignited the powder. However, the fire was contained to the poison.
"Vine whip." Mega Venusaur unleashed over a dozen massive vines that entangled around Charizard Y's arms and legs, pulling him down and closer to Mega Venusar.
"No you don't, use Inferno!" Ash shouted. Charizard Y's tail flame grew massive as he opened his mouth and unleashed a maelstrom of fire into Mega Venusaur.
"Saur!" Venusaur grunted as his vines and the top of his body was burnt.
"Air slash!" Ash shouted. Charizard Y flew through the fire and slashed Mega Venusaur across his body with Air slash.
"Saur!" Venusaur cried before he fell from his feet and reverted back to his normal form.
"No!" Dakota shouted.
"Venusaur is unable to battle. The winner is trainer Ash Ketchum." The ref said.
"We won, we won!" Ash shouted.
"Grauu!" Charizard Y roared.
"Pika Pikcahu!".
"It's over folks, trainer Ash Ketchum will now move onto the final battle of the Kalos league!" The announcer shouted.
"Yes he won!" Serena shouted.
"Looks like Ash is moving onto the final match. Now all I need to do is get there myself." Red said.
"Venusaur return. We made it father than almost anyone Venusaur." Dakota said before he walked over to Ash and his pokemon.
"That was quite a match Ash. You deserve to make it to the final round." Dakota said.
"Thanks Dakota, you were awesome out there." Ash said as he shook Dakota's hand.
Two hours later Red stood on one end of the main stadium while Laura stood on the other.
"This is it folks, the second Semi final match. Who ever wins this match will go on to face Ash Ketchum in the final round." The announcer said.
"The semi final match between Red Ketchum and Laura Walk is about to begin. This will be a 6 against 6 battle. Trainer's choose your pokemon." The ref said.
"This is it, time to battle. Go Bisharp!" Laura shouted. The tall metal pokemon came out and stood in front of his trainer with his arms crossed.
"A Bishop, alright I choose you Pangoro!" Red shouted. Red's Pangoro came out and roared as he stood in front of his trainer.
"A Pangoro, a very good choice. But I still won't loose, Bisharp use Swords dance. " Bisharp formed several blue sword shaped energy beams around him that increased his power.
"Pangoro Hammer arm." Pangoro sprinted in with his arm raised and read to smash Bisharp.
"Dodge and use Slash!". Just before Pangoro could reach Bisharp, the metal pokemon moved out of the way with great agility and got behind Pangoro before slashing him across the back with Slash.
"Perfect now use. Metal claw!".
"Block it!" Red shouted. Pangoro turned around and forced his arm inside of Bisharp's arm and blocked his strike.
" Karate chop!".
"Get back!". Bisharp lurched back just before the Karate chop flew past him. Bisharp continued to move back until he was far enough away from Pangoro.
"Pangoro use Hammer arm!" Red shouted. Pangoro rushed in with his arm raised ready to strike. Just before he could, Bisharp moved out of the way and behind him.
"End this with Guillotine.".
"Knock him down!" Red shouted. Just as Bisharp raised his arm, Pangoro rushed backwards and smashed his shoulder into Bisharp's exposed chest, knocking him to the ground.
"Hammer arm!" Red shouted. Before Bisharp could get up, Pangoro smashed his fist into Bisharp's chest. After he rose up, Bisharp was unconscious.
"Bisharp was unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright he's got it!" Korrina shouted.
"Great work Pangoro." Red said.
" Bisharp return. I am still proud of you. Very impressive Red, don't think my next pokemon will go down so easy. Go Hydreigon!" The 3 headed Dragon flew high above the ground.
" A Dragon type? Well her wings put me at a disadvantage, but she is weak to fighting types. I think we can still do this. " Red said.
"Hydrogen use Dragon Pulse!".
"Pangoro dodge it!" Red shouted. Hydreigon opened all three of her mouths and unleashed a massive beam of Dragon energy down at Pangoro. The large bear dove forward and rolled across the ground narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Dragon Rush!". Hydreigon quickly flew in , glowing violet as she smashed into Pangoro just before he could get up.
"Grab her!" Red shouted. Pangoro tried to grab Hydreigon, but she quickly got back into the air before he could.
"Dragon pulse!". Hydreigon unleashed another massive burst of Dragon energy down at Pangoro. Just before it could hit, Pangoro dove to the side narrowly avoiding the strike.
"Roar!". Hydrogen unleashed a massive roar that picked up Pangoro and hurled him back.
" Perfect now use Dragon pulse!". Hydeigon opened her mouths and blasted Pangoro before he even hit the ground.
"Dragon rush!". Hydreigon flew in glowing violet as Pangoro tried to get up.
"Grab her by the arms!" .
"Roar!". Hydreigon unleashed a roar that picked up Pangoro and hurled him back before being knocked into the ground by another Dragon rush.
"Pangoro!" Red shouted. Pangoro tried to get back up but fall back onto his stomach.
"Pangoro is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Well done Hydreigon." Laura said.
"That's one powerful Hydreigon." Serena said.
"Come on Red you can beat her!" Korrina shouted.
"Pangoro return. I'm very proud of you. Time to fight a dragon with a dragon, I choose you Noivern!" Red shouted. His Noivern came out and roared as he faced Hydreigon.
"A Noivern, that's more like it. Hydreigon use dragon pulse!".
"Noivern Agility into Dragon Pulse!". Noivern quickly increased his speed and agility allowing him to easily avoid the incoming Dragon pulse before opening his mouth and unleashing one of his own.
"Dodge that and use Dragon Rush!". Hydreigon quickly flew down , narrowly avoiding the Dragon pulse before flying at Noivern as she glowed violet.
"Hurricane!" Red shouted. Noivern violently flapped his wings creating a typhoon of wind that caught Hydreigon inside.
"Gotcha, use Dragon Pulse!". Noivern opened his mouth and blasted a powerful Dragon Pulse at the typhoon.
"Get out of there!" Laura shouted. Hydreigon flew out of the top of the Hurricane and narrowly avoided the incoming Dragon Pulse.
"Dragon pulse!" Both trainer's shouted. The two dragons opened their mouths and simultaneously blasted each other with a pulse of Dragon energy.
"Dodge it!" Both trainers shouted, but were too late. Noivern and Hydreigon were hit and hurled into the ground.
"Noivern!".
" Hydreigon!". Neither dragon was able to get.
"Both pokemon are unable to battle." The ref said.
"This is getting intense. The battles already a third done." Ash said.
"Come on Red keep pushing!" Korrina shouted.
"Noivern return, I'm proud of you. I choose you Skarmory!" Red shouted. Skarmory came out and shrieked as he flew over Red.
"Go Spiritomb." Laura said. A rock came out of the pokeball before a sphere of energy formed around it with an evil face in the center.
"I don't like that pokemon." Bonnie said.
"Spiritomb use Ominous Wind." The ghost pokemon opened up his mouth and let out a thick wind of ghost energy towards Skarmory.
"Blow that wind away , then fly in low and use Steel wing!". Skarmory flapped his wings and forced the ghostly wind back towards Spiritomb, before flying in low and smashing Spiritomb across the face with Steel wing.
"Yes direct hit!" Red said. Despite the direct hit, Spiritomb turned back towards Skarmory with a devious smile.
"Curse." Spiritomb began to glow red as he looked like he was in pain.
"What is he doing to himself?" Clemont said.
"He's putting a curse on Skarmory." Ash said in a concerned tone. Moments later Skarmory began to glow red as the curse affected him.
"That's not good, Skarmory come back and use Air slash." Skarmory turned around and flew right at Spiritomb.
"Dark Pulse!". Just before he could reach Spiritomb, Skarmory was hit by the dark pulse and knocked him into the ground.
"Perfect now finish him with Feint attack."
"Skarmory use Agility." Red shouted. Just before Spiritomb could appear behind him, Skarmory got up and flew around, using his own agility to get behind Spiritomb.
"What?" Laura said in complete confusion.
"Steel wing!" . Skarmory came in and smashed Spiritomb with both his wings. After the strike Spiritomb had taken too much damage after using Curse, and fainted.
"Spiritomb is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright!" Red said moments before the curse came back and took its toll on the metal bird. Skarmory couldn't stay airborne and crashed into he ground with swirly eyes.
"Skarmory is unable to battle." The ref said.
"That figures." Ash said.
"Well looks like the battle is now halfway through. It could still go either way." Sycamore said.
"Very impressive Red. But I'm not going to lose, go Greninja!" The water Kalos starter came out and stood in an aggressive stance in front of his trainer.
"Alright I choose you Gogoat!" Red shouted. Red's Gogoat came out and scraped his hood against the ground.
"Greninja start off with a smokescreen. Then use Night slash!". Greninja threw a black ball forward and exploded into a thick haze of smoke.
"Nice try." Red said smiling. He quickly took a deep breath before using his aura vision and seeing Greninja through his aura. Moments later Gogoat's eyes also glowed blue and he could see where Greninja was.
Red could tell that Laura was doing the same with Greninja, however, she didn't know that he had done it yet.
"Leaf blade!" Red shouted. Just as Greninja leapt up , Gogoat came forward and slashed him across the chest.
"Gotcha." Red said. Despite being hit, Greninja did a backflip and landed on his feet.
"Extrasensory!". Greninja's eyes glowed red as he hurled Gogoat back.
"Quick use night slash!" Laura shouted. Before Gogoat could get up, Greninja sprinted over and slashed him across the face with a Night slash.
"Gotcha use Shadow sneak!" Laura said.
"Seed bomb!" Red shouted. Just before Greninja could launch his attack, Gogoat got up and hurled 3 seeds into his chest. The explosion carried Greninja back several feet as Gogoat got up and charged after him.
"Leaf Blade!".
"Night slash!" Laura shouted. Greninja tried to get back on his feet and hurl himself forward, but just before he could Gogoat reached him and slashed across his chest with Leaf Balde.
"Greninja!" Laura shouted.
Greninja hit the ground with his eyes swirly.
"Greninja is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Yes we have the lead again." Red said.
"Greninja return, that was my fault not yours. Well this is getting out of hand, I'll have to bring in the big guns. Go Darkrai!" Laura shouted.
"Darkrai?" Red said having never heard of that pokemon before. A large black shadow like pokemon with a fog like ghostly plume over its bright blue eyes. Around its neck was a spiky red growth and skinny arms that hung from its shoulders.
"What is that?" Ash asked.
"It's a Darkrai, an extremely rare pokemon from Sinnoh. The Sinnoh guardians once hunted them down because they would cause terror in wild pokemon and humans across Sinnoh. It's hard to believe Laura has one." Felix said.
"Let us begin with a Double team." Laura said. The Darkrai made no kind of movement as it formed a dozen copies of itself and surrounded Gogoat.
"Get them all with Seed bomb!" Red shouted. Gogoat unleashed a barrage of Seed Bombs that destroyed several of the copies.
"Incinerate." Laura said. The Darkrai and its copies raised their arms as they formed a burst of fire in their hands.
Red tried to read the aura of Darkrai to see which one was real, but each one had the same aura signature.
"Dodge them all!" Red shouted. Gogoat tried to move as several of the Incinerates flew past him. Unfortunately, the real one hit it's mark and slammed into Gogoat's face.
"Gogoat!" Red shouted. Gogoat hit the ground with swirly eyes.
"Gogoat is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Come on Red you can still handle that Darkrai!" Korrina shouted.
"Gogoat return, you battled very well. Alright I choose you Talonflame!" Red shouted. Talonflame came out and squawked as he flew over Red.
"Talonflame use Razor wind!" Red shouted. Talonflame hurled his wings forward as he unleashed several streaks at the dark pokemon. The streaks tore through the remaining copies until one Darkrai remained.
"Dark pulse." Laura said. Darkrai didn't move any part of his body as a pulse of dark energy flew out of him and knocked away all the streaks.
"Flame charge!" Red shouted. Talonflame covered himself in fire and flew right at Darkrai.
"Hypnosis." Darkrai's eyes glowed red as Talonflame came in close. Just before he could reach Darkrai, Talonflame was engulfed in Hypnosis and put to sleep.
"Oh no." Red said.
"Dream eater." Laura said. Darkrai's eyes glowed pink as he ravaged Talonflame through his sleep. When Darkrai ended the dream eater he dropped an unconscious Talonflame to the ground.
"Talonflame is unable to battle." The ref said.
" Well done." Laura said.
"This isn't good, she's knocked out two of Red's pokemon. He's only got one left." Ash said.
" Come on Red you can do this!" Korrina shouted.
"Just one more Darkrai." Laura said.
"Ok Last chance." Red said as he raised his pokeball to his face and hurled it forward.
None other than Red's Charizard came out and roared as he stood in front of Red.
"This is it Charizard. It's all up to you." Red said before he touched his mega evolution stone on one of his hidden blade holders. Charizard mega evolved into Charizard X and roared.
"Ah yes, your Charizard. Let's see him fight" Laura said.
"Charizard use Flamethrower!" Red shouted.
"Double team." Darkrai made another dozen copies of itself around the battlefield. Charizard X continued to fly as he blasted the ground with fire. Unlike Talonflame, Charizard was able to hit all the Darkrai, including the real one.
"Yes." Red said as Darkrai was pushed back.
"Darkrai use Thunderbolt!" Darkrai formed a bolt of electricity in his arms before blasting it at Charizard X.
"Steel wing Shield!". Charizard X coated his wings in metal and flew right into the lighting with his wings held in front absorbing all the electricity.
"Huh?" Laura said having never seen this tactic.
"Now!" Red said. Charizard X smashed his wings right into Darkrai.
"Yes Charizard is doing awesome!" Korrina said.
"Charizard Dragon claw!" Red shouted. Charizard X came right at Darkrai with his claws glowing violet.
"Hypnosis!" Laura shouted. Just before Charizard X could reach Darkrai, the dark pokemon turned his eyes red and caught Charizard X in the hypnosis.
"Yes gotcha!" Laura shouted.
"Come on Charizard fight it! Stay awake!" Red shouted.
"You can do it Charizard!" Ash shouted.
"Come on!" Serena shouted.
"You're stronger than the Hypnosis!" Korrina shouted. Charizard felt his vision grow blurry as he came closer and closer to falling asleep.
"Come on Charizard, please hold on." Red said as he increased his presence in their aura connection. When Charizard X felt Red's aura beside his own, he felt empowered and had the strength to stay awake.
Charizard X's eyes shot open.
"What?!" Laura said in disbelief.
"Dragon claw!" Charizard flew into Darkrai and slashed him across the face and chest with both his hands.
" Darkrai!" Laura shouted. The dark pokemon fell to the ground and closed his eyes.
"Darkrai is unable to battle." The ref said.
"Alright he beat Darkrai!" Korrina shouted.
"Yes! Alright Charizard just one more!" Red shouted.
" Darkrai return, you battled very well. Alright I still have one more pokemon and he's not to be trifled with." Laura said as she threw her last pokeball forward.
A massive Tyranitar came out and roared.
"Now for the real touch." Laura said as she revealed one of her hidden blade holders with a mega evolution stone on it.
"I was wondering when she's bring a Mega out." Red said. After she touched the stone, Tyranitar Mega evolved.
"It all comes down to this folks. One on one." The announcer said.
" Stone edge!" Laura shouted.
"Into the air and use Steel wing!". Charizard X quickly covered himself with his wings protecting him from any incoming rocks that he didn't avoid.
" Rock Slide!" Laura shouted. Mega Tyranitar lifted up several massive boulders and hurled them right at Mega Charizard X.
" Charizard Dragon claw!". Charizard flew right at the rocks and slice them into pieces with his violet claws.
"Grab him!" Laura shouted. Just before Charizard X could reach his opponent. Mega Tyranitar grabbed him by his arms and held him in place.
"I don't know if this will work but I have to try. Charizard you've got claws on your feet. Try and use those." Red said via aura message. Charizard X was also unsure if that would work. But he tried anyway and the claws on his feet began to glow violet.
"Dragon claw!" Red shouted. Charizard X lifted up his feet and slashed Mega Tyranitar across the face with them.
"What?" Laura said.
"Woah, I didn't know you could do that." Ash said.
"Yeah Red!" Korrina shouted. Mega Tyranitar let go of Charizard X as he flew up and away from Tyranitar.
"Hyper beam!" Laura shouted. Mega Tyranitar locked in on Charizard X and unleashed a massive beam of energy right at Charizard.
"Re-angle your wings and come in with Steel wing!" Red shouted. Charizard X quickly re-angled his wings and flew straight down avoiding the Hyperbeam by inches.
"Steel wing!" Red shouted. Charizard X smashed Tyranitar across the chest with his metal wings.
"Grab him!" Laura shouted. Mega Tyranitar quickly snatched Charizard X by his wings and hurled him backwards.
"Stone edge!" Laura shouted.
"Steel wing!" Red shouted. Charizard X tried to cover himself with his wings, but was too late. Mega Tyranitar unleashed a barrage of spiked rocks that all crashed right into Charizard X's stomach.
"Grauu!" Charizard X grunted in pain.
"Hold on Charizard!" Red shouted.
"Come on Charizard you can take it!" Korrina shouted. Charizard X focused in on Tyranitar and stopped himself with his feet.
"Steel wing!" Red shouted. Charizard X flew right at Mega Tyranitar with his metal wings held in front.
"Hyperbeam!" Laura shouted.
"Flamethrower!" Red shouted. Charizard X blasted Tyranitar with a powerful jet of blue fire. While it didn't do much damage, it did knock him off balance and gave Charizard X an opening.
"Now Flare Blitz!" Red shouted. Charizard X flew through, covered in blue fire and smashed Tyranitar across the face with his entire body.
"Tyranitar!" Laura shouted. Tyranitar fall backwards after being knocked unconscious and reverting back to his normal form.
"Tyranitar is unable to battle. The winner is Red Ketchum." The ref said.
"We actually did it, we actually won!" Red shouted.
"Grauu!" Charizard X roared before desperately trying to catch his breath. Red sprinted out onto the field and hugged Charizard X.
"We did it Charizard. We're going to the final round." Red said.
"Tyranitar return, you were amazing out there." Laura said before walking over to Red and Charizard.
"You are an incredible trainer Red. You deserve this." Laura said as she shook his hand.
"Yes! He did it!" Korrina shouted.
"Alright Red!" Ash shouted.
"Well that's it folks we have our winner. Now we know our two finalists, and how about that. The two trainers competing for the championship title are Ash and Red Ketchum!" The announcer shouted.
It was at that very moment that reality hit Ash and Red. The thing they had feared the very most from the very beginning was now a reality. They would have to face each other and one would be knocked out.
Red looked up at the stands right at Ash, as Ash looked down at the field right at Red. Though there was some distance between them, they were looking right into each other's eyes.
They both knew their next battle would be the toughest of their entire lives.

Some of you have been asking if Serena will cut her hair short like she did in the anime. Well while I don't think she looks bad with short hair, I personally think she looks better with longer hair. Therefore in the sequel she will still have long hair. As for her wardrobe, most of the main characters will have gone through a wardrobe change.
