A/N: I AM SO SORRY. You must hate me. I updated so long ago. SORRY. But I lost interest for a while and this chapter was left unfinished. I finished it just now. Well actually it's only the part before the results of the tenth question but I felt so bad about not updating I'm splitting this into two parts.

List of Lily's current feelings

1. Embarrassment

2. Anger

3. Stupid (Yes, Lily felt stupid. For trusting the Marauders, of course.)

4. ...some betrayal?

"She hates me, mate," James said hollowly, as he stared at the sheet of parchment that had flown out of Lily's bag as she stomped furiously away from them right after class."I knew we shouldn't have gone along with your idea, Padfoot."

"Hey, don't pin this on me!" Sirius exclaimed, "I didn't know she'd dream something like that!"

Remus, always the peacemaker and the good one, sighed. "It's still wrong to display people's dreams; they're private-Oh, look, Lily's coming back."

"Maybe she's coming to forgive me!" James exclaimed happily, his eyes full of hope.

No such luck. "I'll be taking that," the redhead said stiffly, "And having you been nosing into other people's business enough for one day?"

She tried to leave with her nose in the air haughtily, but Lily wasn't looking where she was going and the girl crashed into a suit of armor. She almost fell over. Her cheeks flushed red, and Lily escaped as fast as she could as the boys behind her failed to hide their laughter.

Well there goes my attempt at a dramatic exit, Lily thought. How embarrassing.

It had been officially decided. Lily would not be answering the next Marauder question. No matter what. If it was a matter of life and death, then it was time for Lily to go to heaven. She was not answering the question no matter the circumstances, and the was no changing her stubborn mind. This time, she was actually going to go through with her promise and not go back on it like every time before.

Lily had already imagined various responses her friends would give when the cat would be let out of the bag.

If they called her crazy, insane, or loony in the head, she'd say: 'Call me whatever you want, but when I do something no one in Hogwarts has ever been able to do, you'll see!' (Yes, Lily felt quite dramatic lately.)

If they said she wouldn't be able to do it, she'd say: 'Prepare to eat your words!"

If they said that was impossible, her response would simply be 'Nothing is impossible. The word impossible itself says: I'm Possible.' (And yes, being dramatic meant included quotes to make her sound deep and insightful.)

With her replies all in mind, the determined girl made her way towards her posse at the lunch table.

"Guess what?" She didn't wait for them to answer. "I'm officially vowing NOT to answer any more poll questions!"

"Yeah, alright, Lily." was the general response.

What? No huge gasp? No fainting?

"I'm serious!"

"Mhmm...we know." Mary said, an odd look on her face.

"Yeah," Marlene cut in, giggling. "Of course you can do this Lily! I mean, it's not like you've promised this to yourself before and gone back on it every single time, right?"

"Marlene! What do you not understand about being subtle?"

"Heh...sorry?"

And suddenly Lily understood. "Oh! I see how it is. You guys don't think I can do it." Lily stated, her eyes narrowed.

Mary coughed. "Ahem, well, you have said you weren't going to answer tons of times, and er..."

"Every single time you answered anyways..." Alice finished sheepishly.

Lily jutted out her chin and said defiantly, "I'll do it! You just watch!"

Yes, she would show them. She would. And when she did, everyone else would see how wrong they were and how right she was. (Once again, Lily felt like being dramatic.)

"Hey, Lily?" Marlene called, a sly grin on her face that loudly screamed trouble.

"Yeeeessss?" Lily answered slowly.

"Have you heard about the new question tha-"

"DON'T YOU DARE, MARLENE MCKINNON!"

The black-haired girl squealed in surprise, but she quickly regained herself and smirked again. She cackled evilly and opened her mouth to tease Lily again. "It's very interesting, you know! You really should check it out, Lily! In fact, I think Potter will be very happy to escort you to the common room-Look! Here he comes now! " She giggled at the scowl on Lily's face.

Lily turned, and sure enough, there was Potter with his posse, making their way towards them.

"What do you want?" She spat out, putting as much venom in her voice as she could, but instead of coming out sharp and poisonous, her voice became raspy and she choked on her own saliva. Coughing to clear her throat, she looked up at Potter, trying to hide her red face. "I said, can we help you?"

"Err…you didn't say 'Can we help you?', you said 'What do you want?'…" James snickered.

"Same thing!" Lily exclaimed, annoyed at herself for making herself look like a fool in front of James again. He just laughed gleefully as Lily glared.

"Shut up, Potter!" She said lamely. James chose to ignore this.

"So, my dear Lily-flower-"

"Don't call me that!"

"What did you think-"

"Potter, just go away!"

"-of our delightful-"

"JAMES!"

"-ques-wait, did you just call me James?"

"…No."

A smile was spreading across his face, "Yes you did! You did, you did!" He began to dance.

"I didn't!"

"You did!" He giggled. (Yes, giggled.)

Lily threw her hands up in the air, said, "ARGHHH!" and stomped out of the Great Hall, glaring at anyone who was looking at her.

Once out of the Great Hall, she looked back. None of her friends were following her. How sad.

The temptation to check the notice board was overwhelming. But Lily, being stubborn, hotheaded Lily, would not give in no matter what. Really.

And as she did her homework in the common room, every glance out of the corner of her eye of the rainbow flyer was torture. She felt like a little kid with someone dangling a huge piece of candy right in front of her face. (Yes, Lily often thought up odd similes and metaphors.)

She gripped her pencil tighter. I will not look. I will not loo, she said in her head. I. WILL. NOT. LOOK, she repeated more firmly. Suddenly, she huffed, gathered her things, and hurried upstairs, eager to escape the pull she felt towards the you-know-what.

Footsteps sounded and they grew louder and louder.

"Lily! Lily!" came the voice of her friends, and a second later, they all burst through the door of the dorm, all red in the face.

"Why did you just leave like that?" Alice questioned, concerned for Lily, who was now lounging on her bed. "We thought you were hurt of something!"

"No, I just didn't feel too well." Lily said. It actually wasn't a lie. Being in so close proximity with the thing gave her the jitters.

"I felt sick," Lily expanded,"so I ran up here because I didn't want to puke in the common room." (It was true, she didn't want to puke in the common room. But she never said she needed to. Oh, loopholes.)

This 'lie' seemed to be enough to completely convince everyone and satisfy their curiosity. Good, Lily thought, relieved.

However, she was not relieved for long. She was suddenly pushed backwards and she found herself lying down on her soft bed.

"Eek!" She shrieked as she fell. "What was that for?"

Marlene responded immediately. "You said you didn't feel well! You must rest!"

Lily tried to protest, "No-I'm perfectly fine-"

"Lily, lie down!"

"-I said I feel better now!"

"Lily." Marlene said, sounded like a mother trying to make her child behave.

"Marlene." she mimicked.

"Lily!"

"Argh, fine fine fine!" Lily gave in, but she still did not lie down.

"Goody." Marlene gave a cheesy smile. "Now lie back down."

"Yes, mom." Lily said innocently.

Marlene just grinned back and all of a sudden a twinkle appeared in her eye. "There we go. Now, Young lady, you lie down this second!" She 'scolded'.

Lily sighed again. "All right, all right!" She lay down.

In the future, Marlene would grow up, meet a guy, and have some kids. And Lily thought, amused, poor kids.

More flyers had been posted. But these were not just on the notice board. No, these were all over Hogwarts. ALL OVER Hogwarts. The teachers had not noticed anything, and Lily knew they had probably charmed these too so the professors would see these flyers merely updates for the Wizard's Chess School Tournament or when the Gobstones next club meeting was. Lily was partly hoping they had forgotten.

The Marauders were brilliant, that was for sure, but making Lily admit that was an impossible feat. However, in her mind, she knew the Marauders were like geniuses. She hadn't even known that such a spell existed, and here were the Marauders, using it like an everyday repairing spell. And how they aced every exam without even trying was a mystery that would never be solved. And Lily despised them for that.

Anyways, Lily (plus many others) were wondering how the posters were even placed in some places, like the girls' bathroom. (Lily had also woken up and found two flyers taped to her chest.)

Lily desperately wanted to know their method, but at the same time, she wasn't sure she would like the answer.

But what did these flyers actually say, you ask? Well, on them in bright, glittering gold letters (Bright, colorful and sparkly things seemed to be another Marauder trademark sign.) were the words: This is your last chance! Our tenth question will be taken down tomorrow, so if you haven't answered yet, hurry up and don't miss out!

"I wonder why they put up flyers this time…" Mary murmured.

"Honestly, Mary," Marlene stated impatiently, "Are you daft? It's obviously because of Lily."

Lily started. "What! I-uh-Marlene-no!" She spluttered. "That is not true!" Lily protested weakly.

However, inside, she knew her black-haired friend was very much correct, and she was embarrassed.

Lily would have been okay if she was not the object of Potter's affections. She would have been perfectly fine. Really. REALLY. She would have been completely happy if Potter had never even noticed her. And most of all, she would have been absolutely content if these question thingamajigs were never even started and the stupid flyers were never put up.

Anyways, the flyers did not help at all. (They weren't supposed to) but they affected Lily way more than it should have. While other students of Hogwarts happily and sometimes admiringly gazed at the posters, Lily was trying her best to shield her eye from these horrible pieces of paper, taunting her from their places on the wall. But there was just one more day to go. And Lily would've succeeded and reached her goal. But the 'ads' made everything a thousand times harder.

But Lily would not give up. NOSIREE. And time ticked slowly by...

3...2...1! And poof! Went the notice, gone in a flurry of smoke and sparkles.

Lily was in shock. She stood there, hardly daring to believe it. I did it, she thought, wondrously. I really did it!

She hadn't answered the question. She had managed to resist the temptation! Oh, she was so proud of herself!

"Lily, how long are you gonna dance around like that?" Alice asked, exasperated, for Lily had been twirling around the Gryffindor common room like a 4 year old for the past half hour.

"Sorry, sorry!" Lily replied, not sorry at all. "I just feel so accomplished!"

"You do know that when the results come, you'll be the only one that's not affected?"

"I know; it's great, isn't it?" Lily said gleefully, "Oh, wait till Potter hears about this!"

She was so happy. And she knew that she could do this again, meaning that she would never have to be embarrassed anymore. Oh, how wonderful!

How wrong she was.
